[CBSBaltimore] City State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby says Freddie Gray received his critical injuries in Baltimore police custody and has charged all six officers involved in his death.
The state medical examiner’s office turned over Gray’s autopsy on Friday morning, a day after the police turned over their investigation into Gray’s death.
“The findings of our comprehensive, thorough, and independent investigation coupled with the ME’s determination that Mr. Gray’s death was a homicide which we received today, has led us to believe that we have probable cause to file criminal charges.”
Mosby said she is charging all six officers in the death of Gray and his illegal arrest.
“Following transport from Baker Street, Mr. Gray suffered a severe and critical neck injury as a result of being handcuffed, shackled by his feet and unrestrained inside of the BPD wagon,” Mosby said.
“At no point was he secured by a seatbelt while in the wagon contrary to a BPD general order, Mosby added. “Despite stopping for the purpose of checking on Mr. Gray’s condition, at no point did he seek nor render any medical assistance for Mr. Gray.”
The officers are being charged with a number of counts of manslaughter, assault and misconduct.

OTOH DEMOCRATIC UNDERGROUND > [Daily Caller] PROFESSOR: BALTIMORE POLICE OFFICERS WERE OVER-CHARGED, CHARGES WILL LIKELY BE DISMISSED.
A number of Bloggers believe that a "Rodney King" = 1994 "LA Riots" situation may develop iff the protestors are convinced a felony crime on the part of BATL PO's was covered up???
[WJLA] An investigation into the death of Baltimore resident Freddie Gray has found no evidence that his fatal injuries were caused during the videotaped arrest and interaction with coppers, according to multiple law enforcement sources.
The sources spoke to ABC7 News after being briefed on the findings of a police report turned over to prosecutors on Thursday.
Sources said the medical examiner found Gray's catastrophic injury was caused when he slammed into the back of the police transport van, apparently breaking his neck; a head injury he sustained matches a bolt in the back of the van. Dolt hits a bolt ?
Details surrounding exactly what caused Gray to slam into the back of the van was unclear. The officer driving the van has yet to give a statement to authorities. It's also unclear whether Gray's head injury was voluntary or was a result of some other action.
The medical examiner's office declined to comment on this open investigation and said it does not release preliminary findings.

Odd they don't mention the witness who said that Gray was trying to hurt himself in the back of the van by crashing into the sides and ramming himself into the body work.

It takes a lot of velocity and mass to break an adult human's spine. And he was chained up too. It is not passing the smell test from a nursing point of view
[NBCWASHINGTON] Nearly 100 officers have been hurt since violence broke out in the city on Monday, Baltimore Police said.
Capt. Eric Kowalczyk said Thursday afternoon that more than 40 officers required some sort of treatment at the hospital. Protesters have been throwing bricks, bottles and other items at officers trying to contain demonstrations after the death of Freddie Gray, a black man who suffered critical injuries while he was in police custody.
Kowalczyk also said that more than half of the people detained during Monday's riots have been released without charges. He said 201 people were placed in durance vile Keep yer hands where we can see 'em, if yez please! during the riots and 106 of them were subsequently released after 48 hours because specific charges couldn't be filed.
He said police are reviewing surveillance footage and expect to charge many of those people once their identities have been confirmed.

Baltimore PD has a history of "rough ride" where they get a suspect they dont like, cuff arms and legs, but dont belt him in, and then corner hard, brake hard, and basically throw him against the sides, back and front of the police vehicle. There is a case where a guy was made a quadraplegic through police action of this sort, and a lot of others who were injured.
With no ability to maintain balance or use hands to stabilize one's self, you can be slammed against the doors , seats, sides, and any protrusions in the vehicle with impacts that are equal to a traffic collision. Baltimore PD used this as a method of applying a beating to "troublesome" arrestees, while being able to claim they never hit the suspect.
Folks, this is a rotten PD, and they killed the guy. They dont deserve the riots, but they do deserve punishment, starting at the top, and running all the way down to the commanders who allows this and the line officers who commit this crime. All should be stripped of their uniforms, sued civilly for everything they have, lose their homes and possessions, and be thrown into jail themselves.

O. S. What about the other guy in the van? He had no injuries.

I would not call it "catastrophic" rather a fatal injury by misadventure.
catastrophic
[ ˌkatəˈsträfik ]
ADJECTIVE
1.involving or causing sudden great damage or suffering:
"a catastrophic earthquake"
2.extremely unfortunate or unsuccessful:
"catastrophic mismanagement of the economy"
synonyms: disastrous · calamitous · cataclysmic · apocalyptic · ruinous

Some of the TV forensics experts are saying they don't think Gray could have severed his spinal cord by hitting his head in the van. I don't believe this to be true. I've seen a considerable number of deaths in the course of work that you wouldn't think could happen.

An interesting phenomenon coming out of this. It seems everyone is blaming the system. In the past we placed individual responsibility above system failure, but if you listen to all the commentators, it's now blame the system in Baltimore, not don't break the law and disobey cops.
This department is a product of the community it serves and the justice system that fails to punish accordingly. Bad cops are bad cops and need to go. But, as I feel was the case in Ferguson, this is a "criminal community" where an overwhelming majority are themselves and/or have one or more relatives involved with crime. Constant policing is perceived as harassment because there are so many people involved in some level of criminal activity. Everyone is getting harassed becomes the perception. This causes friction, especially in an atagonized propogandized black community where forces are at work against the "system" and the oppression by "white power" police represent. Cops then adjust policing to deal with the chaotic situation.
Don't get me wrong, bad cops gotta go, but we have to hire the professionals to do the job and let them do it with community support. Once the community goes against the police force, nothing good will evolve from it. Why do we think they are staging all these demos? Do we really believe so many major cities have bad PD's in their worst neighborhoods or do we believe a permissive welfare state has allowed a majority of whole communities to become directly or tangentially involved in crime and all its nefarious consequences? What kind of policing does that community need? What is the effect of plea bargains, early releases, etc on that PD?

It's next to impossible to get rid of bad cops. Even if you post a video of their behavior on YouTube. There's a video of a pair of transit cops somewhere who had a drunk gal in custody. She was obnoxious, so they purposefully flipped her upside down so she landed on her face, breaking several bones and teeth. The cops claimed in their report that they "guided her to the ground", even though the video showed otherwise. The cops' superiors said everything was fine. The $hit is going to hit the fan on this one.
#10
I wonder how much of that is due to the union.
I've always felt that if a union has a say in who can be fired then they should be held responsible for their member's behavior.
For example if a teachers union's contact has restrictions on who can be fired, and a teacher molests one of their students, the union can be sued in civil court for damages.

I do not want to get into race and all, but here is what I have found out:
The Mayor is black.
9 of the city council people are black.
The police commissioner is black
The city is basically run by democrats
So, the dems run the show, and if you identify with a certain ethnic or racial group, then your group is well represented in the government of your city.
Other observations: If you are going to be a cop in these areas of Baltimore, then you are dealing with some harda$$ people so you will be a harda$$ yourself.
It is your police force, it is your govt, so it is your city's problem, not O's, not Al Sharpton's. Look in the mirror---it is your problem. Not everyone else's problem.

Over the years, British street artist Banksy has used his work to draw attention to social issues such as the Syrian war and the horrors of animal slaughterhouses. Now it seems that his activism has inspired one of his U.K. peers to strike back against that modern scourge of city bikers, drivers, and pedestrians: the pothole.
How, you ask, can an artist get city officials to fill one of the potentially damaging craters? By drawing a gigantic penis around it, of course.
After several of his cyclist friends around his suburban Manchester neighborhood got into pothole-induced crashes, the aptly named "Wanksy" began spray-painting penises on the streets.
"I wanted to attract attention to the pothole and make it memorable. Nothing seemed to do this better than a giant comedy phallus," Wanksy told the Manchester Evening News.
Wanksy found that although officials in his Ramsbottom neighborhood tend to ignore polite requests to fill concrete gashes in the streets, they've been quick to fix the holes in order to get rid of his drawings. Some potholes that sat unfilled for nearly a year are being fixed in a jiffy, according to the artist.
"Been there 8 months at least. A bit of art and they are filled in 48 hours," the artist wrote about one photo of his work that he posted to the Wanksy Street Artist Facebook page.
Indeed, thanks to his activism, Wanksy has become something of a vigilante hero. On his Facebook page, some of his 16,000 fans are calling him a "legend." Other admirers are sharing stories of the damage done to their vehicles by potholes Wanksy has targeted.
One Facebook user, Cerys Ward, posted a comment under a photo that Wanksy shared of a still unrepaired pothole, noting that the crater had caused about $310 in damage to her tires. "Good on you Wanksy. Let's make the council realise we won't put up with the ridiculous condition of our roads," she wrote.
Other people are posting messages begging him to come to their towns. Requests are pouring in from across the U.K. as well as from the United States, India, and several European cities.
It sure seems like the U.S. could use the artist's help. According to 2014 data from the AAA, the damage potholes do to vehicles costs Americans about $6.4 billion per year. In car-dependent Southern California, potholes have even become a major campaign issue for politicians seeking elected office. During Los Angeles' hotly contested 2013 mayoral race, candidate Wendy Greuel went out on the streets to fill 47 potholes. Meanwhile, her opponent--and L.A.'s current mayor--Eric Garcetti launched a smartphone app that made it snap to report the holes that bust tires and wreck a vehicle's suspension.
But despite the international adoration for Wanksy's efforts, at least one elected official in the artist's community is less than thrilled.
"Has this person, for just one second, considered how families with young children must feel when they are confronted with these obscene symbols as they walk to school? Not only is this vandalism, but it's also counter-productive," an unnamed council spokesperson told the Manchester Evening News.
According to the spokesperson, Wanksy's actions are wasting the community's limited resources. The spokesperson also hopes someone in the greater Manchester area will turn Wanksy in to police. But given how thrilled folks are about getting potholes filled, it doesn't look like that's going to happen anytime soon. Doesn't sound like a waste to me!
The federal government pushes back
An out-of-state supporter of Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy has pleaded guilty in a federal court in Pennsylvania to making threats against a Bureau of Land Management enforcement official during Bundy’s 2014 standoff against federal officials over land grazing rights.
Some Bundy supporters, as well as Bundy himself, wonder whether this is the first in a series of legal moves the federal government might take against the recalcitrant rancher, whose so-called citizen militia challenged BLM officials in an armed face-off last April. Wonder no more. It has begun...
Will Michael, 24, pleaded guilty this week to threatening a federal law enforcement official as well as making interstate communication threats.
A profanity-laced phone message left for Mike Roop, the chief BLM ranger for Washington and Oregon, claimed, "We’re going to kill you," according to federal court documents. Officials say it was one of 500 threatening messages that Roop received.
Michael did not travel to southern Nevada to join hundreds of Bundy supporters – many armed with semiautomatic weapons – who converged on federal land after agents swooped in to seize Bundy's cattle. For decades Bundy has refused to pay government grazing fees because he does not recognize Washington's right to collect money on Nevada land. LA Times leaves out snipers working in the area for the government, with guns trained on unarmed individuals.
Michael told authorities that he saw a video on social media showing Roop shoving aside Bundy’s sister, who was blocking BLM vehicles in the cattle raid, officials said. Michael will be sentenced in July.
"Part of the allegations were that the guy released personal information on Roop," Jody Weil, a BLM spokeswoman in Oregon, told the Los Angeles Times. Officials say Roop's personal and work contact information were posted online. Roop should quit. If he can't handle personal information posted on line -- something federal officials would not hesitate to do to intimidate "suspects" -- he has no business in government.
[ARABNEWS] Britannia's ruling Conservatives took a five point lead over Labour in an Ipsos-MORI survey on Thursday, the latest poll to show David Cameron ... has stated that he is certainly a big Thatcher fan, but I don't know whether that makes me a Thatcherite, which means he's not. Since he is not deeply ideological he lacks core principles and is easily led. He has been described as certainly not a Pitt, Elder or Younger, but he does wear a nice suit so maybe he's Beau Brummel ... 's party gaining an edge just seven days before a knife-edge election.
The Conservatives and Ed Miliband's opposition Labour Party have been neck-and-neck in most polls since the start of the year, but by Thursday seven of the 10 pollsters covering the May 7 election had Cameron's Conservatives ahead by varying degrees. In a poll for London's Evening Standard newspaper, Ipsos MORI put that lead at five points, after the Conservatives gained two percentage points to hold 35 percent support and Labour dropped five percentage points to 30 percent. The results helped to keep sterling near a two-month high against a weak dollar.
The election, which could determine Britannia's place in the European Union ...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing... and Scotland's future in the United Kingdom, is the closest since the 1970s with neither of the two main parties able to open up a big enough lead to rule alone.
Surveys show that, instead, millions of voters are flocking to once-marginal parties, especially in Scotland where the Scottish National Party (SNP) looks set to make major gains, and in England where both big parties are losing votes to the anti-EU UKIP.

The Ukrainian military permitted private contractors to eliminate elements of a rogue volunteer battalion while at the front, according to Russian language news reports.
Donetsk defense ministry spokesman Lt. Colonel Eduard Basurin was quoted in regnum.ru as saying rebel forces opposing Ukrainian units near the western Donetsk suburb of Advievka, monitored communications of a special forces unit which had been deployed to eliminate elements of an unidentified volunteer battalion.
According to remarks by Col. Basurin, a special operations unit of "unknown affiliation" stormed a platoon position occupied by presumably rogue units of a volunteer battalion.
Rebel electronic intelligence units had determined that each member of the special forces team used GPS system devices to transmit location information of each member of the team. The team used portable radios "made in Europe", and used suppressed weapons to eliminate the unit.
Basurin made clear in his remarks that the team set against the volunteer unit was not specifically Ukrainian military, but was either a private military company unit, or a European special forces unit.
The news account of the special operation carried out against an allied unit was the latest in a series of incidents which have taken place over the past few days inside Ukrainian lines.
Tuesday, Ukrainian news reported that an operation by two Ukrainian airborne units which had surrounded and disarmed members of the Right Sector political movement near the town of Velikomikhailovka Pokrovsky in Dnepropetrovsk, was in fact an "exercise" by the Ukrainian military, not aimed at private volunteer units, for which Right Sector provides some of the soldiers.
That admission was reported the day after the Dnepropetrovsk operation by Ukrainian defense ministry spokesman, who denied that checkpoints set up by elements of the Ukrainian 25th Parachute Brigade and the 95th Airmobile Brigade were intended to disarm Right Sector members.
However subsequent reports suggest that the deployment was intended to move Right Sector leaders, such as Dmitri Yarosh towards negotiating with the Ukrainian ministry of defense their integration into the Ukrainian military structure or disbanding altogether.
The latest report posted on tsensor.net is that the Ukrainian defense ministry will accept private battalions under the command of the Ukrainian military, but not as units with "special powers", as Ukrainian defense minister Colonel General Stepan Poltorak had put it.
Yarosh hinted in reports from tsensor.net that the conflict between Right Sector private battalions and the Ukrainian ministry of defense was "exhausted", but apparently not over.
Rebel commanders have been monitoring similar actions by the Ukrainian military, such as a request of Ukrainian military commanders, fielded by rebel commanders, to shell elements of the Azov Regiment deployed in Mariupol and Shirokino. The stated reason for the request, according to rebel media, was that Azov Regiment members were committing crimes against civilians in the area.
On Tuesday, rebel commanders near Avdievka were monitoring a Ukrainian military operation intended to surround and disarm another private battalion, called the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN), which has strong ties to Right Sector political group.
Rebels deport American NGO
Several unidentified workers for the International Rescue Committee were deported to Ukraine Thursday amid charges of Donetsk authorities of spying an tax evasion, according to a news report in regnum.ru.
The International Rescue Committee for months, according to the report, had been operating under the auspices of the US State Department Agency for International Development.
The group performed worked including "psychological support to women Donetsk, who have suffered from various forms of violence" and distributing hygiene kits.
Donetsk officials said that the group had used local contractors in such as way as to avoid payment of taxes. Officials also said they found completed forms with data on unidentified residents of Donetsk in the possession of the group.

[RFE/RL] Large posters featuring Stalin's portrait that were posted in public spaces earlier this week in the Dagestani capital, Makhachkala, have been removed. The appearance of the Stalin posters on April 27 triggered criticism by local bloggers and internet users.
Other posters showing Stalin with other Soviet leaders and military commanders remain in the city's public spaces.
In many Russian cities, portraits and banners depicting Stalin's image are being displayed in connection with the 70th anniversary of the defeat of Nazi Germany, which Russia celebrates on May 9.

[NY Post] UNITED NATIONS -- A US-organized event on North Korea's human rights briefly turned into chaos at the UN Thursday as North Korean diplomats insisted on reading a statement, amid shouts from defectors, and then stormed out.
The US ambassador to the UN, Samantha Power, tried to quiet the North Korean diplomats at the event that featured more than 20 defectors.
The North Korean diplomats did not comment as they left the chamber after diplomat Ri Song Chol read out a statement in protest of the event, even as North Korean defectors stood and shouted in their faces.
Nuclear-armed North Korea has been on the defensive ever since a groundbreaking UN commission of inquiry detailed vast rights abuses there.

Even the illegals would have to get the $15/hr as the wage police are out in force. We even have trash pooleece that can fine you for throwing too much food in the trash rather than compost it.....

Amazon is in Seattle. Perhaps their Drones can deliver Amazon items on the way out (of Seattle) and Pizza on the way back (into Seattle). At least that way they aren't dead-heading back.
(Actually I don't think their warehouses are in Seattle proper).

I don't have much use for the excuse that she can't afford the higher wage. The other pizza places are in the same boat, and all will have to pass the cost increase on as higher prices. That results in inflation.
The winners will be the shops who are the most efficient with their labor (and who have the best pies).
#9
Onliest problem KBK, is if she's in a low profit margin business (she is), the income from price increases is maybe later, but the wage increase is now. You'll note that she didn't do this right after the new ordinance came in force; she's tried it out for a few weeks, and evidently the numbers aren't there, so she's cutting her losses.
She was the marginal case, and they're always the first to go. Now somebody else gets to be the marginal case.

[Gates if Vienna] The European Union Court of Justice ruled Wednesday that member nations may ban gay men from ever donating blood, under some conditions.
"Permanently excluding men who have had homosexual relations from donating blood may...be justified," the Court wrote. Lets imagine a USA court handing down such a verdict.

Part of that is a self inflicted wound. Back in the early '80s most of Western Civ (Euro and N.America) could have blood tested and isolated carriers (as in many other contagious diseases). However, the 'community' knowing that the results would heavily fall on them, obstructed and blocked such an effort making it a 'civil rights' rather than 'life and death' issue. They, of course, condemned a lot of their own to death as a consequence. Reap what you sowed.

stupid really, if they are going to do that they need to ban black men from African nations - any african immigrants (I'm not talking about black americans)
Aids rates in Botswana's straight people are way higher than what they are for homosexuals.
In Australia the Aids rate ticked up just from an increase in African immigration - even if they didn't have it when they first migrated they'd get it going home for visits and bring it back with them.
[AnNahar] Turkish authorities on Thursday issued arrest warrants for two judges in a legal standoff over an order to release 75 suspects detained on suspicion of plotting to overthrow The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire.... 's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan ... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him... , reports said.
The judges at the weekend issued an order to release the 74 former police and the head of the Samanyolu TV channel Hidayet Karaca from police custody.
All are accused of being allies of Erdogan's arch foe, the U.S.-based preacher Fethullah Gulen, and working with him in a parallel state aimed at overthrowing the government.
Their decision had been blocked by a higher court and the judges themselves were then suspended by Turkey's Supreme Board of Judges and Prosecutors (HSYK).
An Istanbul court issued arrests warrants for judges Metin Ozcelik and Mustafa Baser on suspicion of membership in an illegal organization, the official Anatolia news agency said.
Ozcelik has already been locked away Maw! They're comin' to get me, Maw! while Baser is currently being searched for, the Hurriyet daily and NTV television channel reported.
Gulen leads a broad movement known as "Hizmet" (Service), believed to be supported by millions of Turks and which brings together interests ranging from finance to schools to media.
The holy man, 74, was once a close ally of Erdogan. But the authorities blamed Gulen for corruption allegations that rocked Erdogan's government in December 2013 while he was prime minister.
Gulen, who left for the U.S. in 1999 to escape charges of anti-secular activities by the government at the time, has denied being behind the graft allegations against Erdogan.
The 75 suspects were never released and remain in detention.
They had all been detained in a series of raids that started last year against supporters of Gulen in the Turkish security forces.
Karaca leads a strongly pro-Gulen television channel and his arrest had been condemned by media rights groups.
[Weekly Standard] Hillary Clinton is a ferocious critic of Israeli settlements. She took point on the Obama administration's demand for a settlement freeze. She regularly berated Prime Minister Netanyahu on the subject, including an infamous, expletive-laced 45-minute phone call in 2010. She calls settlements "illegitimate" and said, "their continued expansion is corrosive not only to peace efforts and the two-state solution, but to Israel's future itself."
If only settlers had donated to the Clinton Foundation!
Ken Vogel reports today that some of its donors are shocked, shocked to learn that the foundation operates more or less as a slush fund for the Clintons and a lobby for foreign interests. One source of the heartburn is a Clinton Foundation event next week in Marrakesh that:
"is to be funded partly by a donation of more than $1 million from a Moroccan government-owned phosphate company -- a donation that has drawn fire from critics who contend that Moroccan phosphate extraction in the adjacent disputed territory of Western Sahara amounts to exploitation."
Ah, the "disputed territory of Western Sahara." It was invaded by Morocco in 1975 and is considered by many to be occupied territory. No member state of the UN recognizes Moroccan sovereignty there. Yet Morocco is mining phosphates in Western Sahara, and not only does Hillary Clinton not complain that Morocco's presence there is "illegitimate" and "corrosive to peace efforts," she in fact praises it.
Last year, announcing the foundation's upcoming conference in Marrakesh, Clinton lauded Morocco's "ongoing efforts to leverage the country's phosphate resources--an important component of fertilizer--to boost food security."
Hillary condemns Israel's development of the West Bank, but praises Morocco's development of Western Sahara, which she appears to not even view as disputed or occupied territory. Jews are supposed to be smart with money. Perhaps the inhabitants of Judea and Samaria should have just mailed a check.
[Breitbart] This Week on the New Black Panther Party's "Black Power Radio," national chairman Hashim Nzinga said since America has "declared war on us," evidenced by "military police in the black neighborhood" protecting the rich, the New Black Panthers should be looked upon as Founding Fathers who declare war and are "willing to die or kill to save our babies and to save a black nation that is dying before our eyes."
Nzinga said, "America is about protecting the rich and the powerful."
He added, "We pay taxes. They have declared war on us and it's nothing but state racism."
"So if we say we are at war, we should be applauded like George Washington," Nzinga continued. "We should be applauded like Thomas Jefferson. We should be applauded like the Founding Fathers of the country."
"This is not the hate hour, this is the love hour,"he added. "We have to love ourselves enough to be willing to die or kill to save our babies and to save a black nation that is dying before our eyes."

Background.
Over the years, Palestinians made very good use of African-American rhetoric of victimhood and rights. And, in fact, been treated as honorary blacks by "World Community".
Now I see that the learning wasn't going only one way.

Willing to kille? Yeah right, you're not even willing to be a father to the children you sire. You're not willing to stand up to crime in your neighborhoods. You're not willing to go to work.
Willing to die? Us non-black folks with guns can arrange that if you come to our homes and try that shit. Keep talking race war, you idiots.
#9
What percent of American Blacks are associated with the Black Panthers? Flash mob riots and looting are one thing, a sustained and deliberate war is quite another. I suspect our New Black Panther is a bit overexcited.

This is just an unfortunate misunderstanding. What he actually said was that they are willing to "grill" for a black nation. It's an invitation to a BBQ. Very decent of him to offer.
