Afghanistan
Hezb-e-Islami Endorses Helal in Presidential Election
[Tolo News] The Hezb-e-Islami Death Eater party, led by Gulbuddin Hekmatyar
... who used to be known in intelligence circles as The Most Evil Man in the World but who now seems merely run-of-the-mill evil...
, endorsed Qutbuddin Helal on Saturday to be the next Afghan president, according to a representative of the party.

The decision was taken during a meeting attended by members of the Hezb-e-Islami party, representative Ghairat Baheer told TOLOnews.

"Hezb-e-Islami Afghanistan today officially decided and confirmed the candidacy of Qubuddin Helal. We are announcing our support for him and asking all of our allies to respect the decision and support him," he said.

Hekmatyar, the founder of the party who is fighting the US-led coalition forces in Afghanistan, had previously opposed the elections, citing the presence of foreign forces.

However,
if you can't be a good example, then you'll just have to be a horrible warning...
he asked his party members earlier this year to participate in the elections.

The party also took recently responsibility for most of the attacks in Afghanistan.

Baheer believes that the party has activity in Afghanistan and said party members agreed over the decision.

Africa Subsaharan
Governor Says Nigeria Military Outgunned by Boko Haram
[An Nahar] The governor of Nigeria's embattled Borno state warned President Goodluck Jonathan
... 14th President of Nigeria. He was Governor of Bayelsa State from 9 December 2005 to 28 May 2007, and was sworn in as Vice President on 29 May 2007. Jonathan is a member of the ruling People's Democratic Party (PDP). He is a lover of nifty hats, which makes him easily recognizable unless someone else in the room is wearing a neat chapeau...
on Monday that the military is outgunned in its fight against Boko Haram
... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
and more troops are urgently needed.

Governor Kashim Shettima traveled to the capital Abuja for talks with Jonathan and Nigeria's security chiefs following the latest massacre in Borno of 106 people in the mostly Christian village of Izghe on Saturday.

"We are in a state of war. That is what I came to tell the president," Shettima told news hounds after the meeting.

"I made it emphatically clear to Mr. President that Boko Haram are better armed and better motivated," than the security forces, he added.

Unless more troops and more resources are deployed to Borno, "it is absolutely impossible for us to defeat Boko Haram," the governor said.

Borno along with two neighboring northeastern states was placed under emergency rule in May, when the military launched a major offensive aimed at crushing the Islamist uprising which has killed thousands since 2009.

Attacks have continued despite the beefed up military presence. Borno, where Boko Haram was founded in 2002, has been the hardest hit area.

The bully boy militia has said it is fighting to create a strict Islamic state in the country's mainly Moslem north.

Shettima said the Islamists have been able to attack defenseless civilians with ease and made reference to a slaughter last week in the town of Konduga where gunnies seemingly killed residents at-will "for over five hours."

"Have we ever succeeded in thwarting any of their plans?" the governor further said.

He provided a corpse count of 106 for the Izghe attack, supporting figures given by other area officials.

"Some were hospitalized with very great injuries, so I am afraid the figures might climb," he added.

The attackers reportedly went door-to-door looking for residents who were hiding, undeterred by the security forces.

Those who were found were dragged outside, gathered together and slaughtered, witnesses told Agence La Belle France Presse.

While Jonathan has at times sought to portray the military offensive as a success, outrage in the region is building following the repeated failure of the security forces to prevent major attacks, including some in the heart of Borno's capital Maiduguri.

The Nigerian defense headquarters said on Monday that fighting patrols by air and land were being stepped up "in the forests and hills" in the northeast where the faceless myrmidons were hiding.

"The security forces will continue to employ necessary fire power to enhance the effectiveness of the mission until the Death Eaters are duly curtailed," it said in a statement in reaction to recent deadly attacks.

Some suspected perpetrators of the recent attacks have been tossed in the clink
Don't shoot, coppers! I'm comin' out!
, it said, without given details.

Locations that are prone to attacks are being reinforced while general areas has been placed "under heightened surveillance and patrols," it boasted.

Jonathan replaced his entire military brass last month, a move analysts said was linked to frustration with the anti-insurgency campaign.

I was thinking "Montagnard defense," but I doubt Abuja would go for it and anyways, it's undoable.

There's a reason the Nigerian military is incompetent; imagine an armed citizenry.

Arabia
Frustration of terrorist plot targeting Air Force, Sana'a Airport denied
[SABANEWS.NET] An official source at the Air Force and Air Defense refuted rumors spread in some news websites claiming that a huge terrorist plot had been aborted.

The source denied the authenticity of the information dealing with the frustration of a large terrorist plot targeting headquarters of the Air Force base, al-Dilami base, and Sana'a International Airport's vicinity.

He pointed out that all what had been found is a box contains three hand grenades and three pieces of capsules shells "RPG" nearby a building, and the required procedures have been taken by concerned authorities.

The source also urged all media to check accuracy and credibility in all information they release before spreading such lies, asserting that the situation in all units of the air force and air defense are normal and all of its personnel are performing their duties efficiently.

Bangladesh
'Al-Qaeda clip uploaded from US'
[Dhaka Tribune] The much-talked about al-Qaeda audio clip on Bangladesh was uploaded from Arizona state of the United States, says the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulator Commission (BTRC).

A top official of BTRC public relations department wishing anonymity told this to the Dhaka Tribune on Monday evening.

The telecom regulator also asked the International Internet Gateway (IIG) operators to monitor the al-Qaeda audio clip.

The audio message, supposedly released by al-Qaeda, called Bangladeshi Mohammedans to join in a jihad against the western countries.

The website named "Jihadology" that posted an audio tape of al-Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri
... Formerly second in command of al-Qaeda, now the head cheese, occasionally described as the real brains of the outfit. Formerly the Mister Big of Egyptian Islamic Jihad. Bumped off Abdullah Azzam with a car boom in the course of one of their little disputes. Is thought to have composed bin Laden's fatwa entitled World Islamic Front Against Jews and Crusaders. Currently residing in the North Wazoo area. That is not a horn growing from the middle of his forehead, but a prayer bump, attesting to how devout he is...
on Bangladesh is hosted at a domain located in the US.

An IT expert after a quick look at the technical information of the website said "Jihadology" had been created on August 16, 2010, but came into operation in September the same year.

The "Jihadology" website at the top of the page said the video message titled "Bangladesh: A Massacre behind a Wall of Silence" was presented by "As-Sahab Media."

The government has blocked the website "jihadology.net" in Bangladesh early on Sunday.

Britain
British jihadis returning from Syria spark terror alert after police, MI5 thwarted London attack
[DailyMail]
o 250 British based 'extremist tourists' have returned home from fighting
o Figure includes several 'veterans' who fought in Afghanistan and Pakistain
o Security forces thwarted 'serious plot' by jihadis returning last Autumn

The returnees were said to be planning a Mumbai-style gun attack on civilians in a crowded place, possibly London. They are now being monitored by the security services, The Sunday Times reports.

A senior Whitehall security official told paper: 'Well over half of those who travelled out have come back.'

Last week it was announced that krazed killer videos which help to radicalise impressionable young men are to be blocked from the internet in the UK.

The Home Office is in talks with web companies to refuse access to violent films hosted overseas 'at a network level', MailOnline can reveal.

The plans for what will effectively be 'cyber border controls' have been drawn up by James Brokenshire, promoted to immigration minister at the weekend.

Around 2,000 Europeans are thought to be fighting in Syria, including at least 200 known to the British security services.

Since February 2010, the Counter Terrorism Internet Referral Unit (CTIRU) has taken down more than 21,000 pieces of illegal terrorist online content.

If the CTIRU and prosecutors deem material to be illegal it can be blocked from parts of the public sector, including schools and hospitals but this does not extend to domestic users and filters can be turned off.

#3  It would seem that the Brits don't have a law which prohibits citizens from fighting with foreign fighting groups (can't really call them armies). At one time the U.S. had a law whereby one could lose their citizenship for fighting with a foreign army although I think that law has been interpreted to mean one must also have intent to give up citizenship.

They don't get off the phone, don't say thank-you and don't want to help except for when it comes to relieving me of money. Not surprising that 20% of Brits want an end to ALL immigration. What was that old saying about a rod and a back?

India-Pakistan
Taliban peace talks break down
[Pak Daily Times] The much-hyped controversial peace talks with Taliban broke down on Monday following execution of 23 FC soldiers captured from Shongari checkpost in 2010 by a terrorist outfit calling itself Mohmand Agency
... Named for the Mohmand clan of the Sarban Pahstuns, a truculent, quarrelsome lot. In Pakistain, the Mohmands infest their eponymous Agency, metastasizing as far as the plains of Peshawar, Charsadda, and Mardan. Mohmands are also scattered throughout Pakistan in urban areas including Karachi, Lahore, and Quetta. In Afghanistan they are mainly found in Nangarhar and Kunar...
Taliban -- in a devastating blow to the PML-N government's 'last-ditch' efforts to bring peace to the terror-stricken nation through negotiations.

The four-member government negotiating committee immediately cancelled a scheduled visit to Akora Khattak for a meeting with the Taliban committee. "It is a unanimous decision. I myself phoned Yousaf Shah and informed him that we are not coming," advisor to prime minister and coordinator of government committee Irfan Siddiqui told journalists. "We do not want to play meetings," he said, and added that the martyrdom of FC personnel is a highly condemnable act that cannot be tolerated.

"We regret to say that things are not moving in the right direction. Peace talks are purposeless after the sad and condemnable murders," Siddiqui said. A meeting will be convened on Tuesday (today) to discuss the future course of action, he added.

Another member of the committee, Rahimullah Yousufzai, said it was necessary for them to discuss the killings of FC soldiers with the government before any further interaction with the TTP negotiators. He said it was not yet confirmed whether TTP had ordered the killings or someone else did it just to spoil the grinding of the peace processor.

Rustum Shah Mohmand, another member of the government negotiating team, said putting the talks back on track will be a huge challenge. "There is only one way, what I think, to salvage the grinding of the peace processor: the main body of TTP dissociates itself from the statement of Omar Khalid Khurasani. Or, if they declare he is not an integral constituent of their movement and that he has given the statement in his personal capacity or (may be) to sabotage the grinding of the peace processor," he opined.

Mohmand said the grinding of the peace processor had entered into a 'blind alley'. "Only an unconditional ceasefire by Taliban and release of Shahbaz Taseer, son of slain Punjab governor Salmaan Taseer, and Ali Haider Gilani, son of former prime minister Yousaf Raza Gilani, could help the cause."

The Taliban negotiating team has, however, regretted that the Akora Khattak meeting could not take place. "We were close to reaching an understanding on ceasefire but it is sad that the government committee called off the meeting after considering us as Taliban," Yousuf Shah told a presser. Taliban committee is only a negotiating team, he said and added, "We are not separate from the government committee. They should not consider us Taliban."

He said the two committees should have held the meeting to jointly work out ways to prevent the recurrence of such incidents in future as well as restoration of peace in the country. "We regret that government team did not come for a meeting today. We could have done a fruitful discussion on restoration of peace," he said.

He said military operation will only bring more bloodshed, displacement and terrorism to the country. "It's not a solution," he said, and added that both committees need to re-establish contacts and launch renewed efforts to end violence in the country.

The other committee member, Professor Ibrahim, said both sides should exercise patience and restraint. He said they could not defend Taliban as many hands were active in the region. He said Taliban committee was acting only as negotiators and it should not be made a party. He said they wished an early ceasefire could be agreed but it looked difficult after the latest developments.

Maulana Samiul Haq

chaired the Taliban committee meeting, attended by Maulana Yousaf Shah and Professor Ibrahim Khan.

FC killings a 'heinous and brutal' act: Nawaz
[Pak Daily Times] Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif
... served two non-consecutive terms as prime minister, heads the Pakistain Moslem League (Nawaz). Noted for his spectacular corruption, the 1998 Pak nuclear test, border war with India, and for being tossed by General Musharraf...
Monday strongly condemned the killing of soldiers of Frontier Corps by snuffies and termed it a "heinous and brutal" act. The prime minister said the incident would have a negative impact on the talks process, initiated for a peaceful resolution of the issue. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif paid tribute to the slain FC soldiers, a message from the PM House said. "Pakistain cannot afford such bloodshed," Nawaz said and pointed out that the government initiated the talks following the recommendations of the all-parties conference. "However whenever we reach an encouraging point, the process is sabotaged," he said and termed it a painful situation that has also aggrieved the entire nation. claimed on Sunday night that they have killed 23 Frontier Corps soldiers who were kidnapped in June 2010. The government negotiators were set to sit down for fresh talks with their Taliban counterparts on Monday but they cancelled the meeting after unanimously deciding it would be "purposeless". Nawaz announced talks with the Taliban on January 29 to "give peace another chance". The prime minister, in his statement, added that the government had approached the idea of talks after a collective go-ahead from the politicianship at the all-parties conference. President Mamnoon Hussain on Monday condemned the killing of the FC personnel and called it a grave crime. In a statement, the president stated that Pakistain cannot afford loss of more lives.

'Allegations of custodial killings mere propaganda'

Taliban, a "blatant" and "highly provocative" act of terrorism. "The martyrdom of security officials is a blatant act of terrorism. It's highly condemnable and provocative," a security official told Daily Times on condition of anonymity. In a letter posted on the social media, Mohmand Agency Taliban chief Umar Khalid Khurasani claimed late on Sunday that the soldiers had been slain to avenge what he called killing of their fighters in jug in several parts of the country. The security official rejected the claim by Taliban, termed the allegation unfounded and baseless. "The Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistain is just lying. No terrorist has been killed in the custody," the official said. He said the allegations by Taliban were part of a propaganda aimed at justifying the acts of terrorism. "It's a mere propaganda. They are trying to justify their dastardly acts of terrorism," the security official added. The much-hyped peace talks with Taliban broke down on Monday when the government negotiating team cancelled its scheduled meeting with Taliban negotiators in Akora Khattak following the execution of FC soldiers by terrorists. "It is a unanimous decision. I myself phoned Yousaf Shah and informed him that we are not coming," adviser to prime minister and coordinator of government committee Irfan Siddiqui told journalists. Israeli arm dealers tried to sell arms to Iran through Greece
[Ynet] A joint American-Greek investigation revealed that Israeli arms dealers tried to smuggle spare parts for F-4 Phantom aircrafts to Iran through Greece, in a breach of the arms embargo imposed on Tehran, Greek newspaper Kathimerini reported on Sunday.

Even with good pilots, are aging Phantoms much of a threat in this day and age?

Why would Israelis sell *anything* of military value to the Persians? Money is the easy answer. But if the spares were radar and avionics, this could be an opportunity to rig the game.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Minister claims Lebanon faces 'conspiracy' over gas fields
This is what happens when you have the possibility of great wealth for your country for the improvement of life for your citizens, but cannot get your "$h*t" together to have a viable country.
As Lebanon's political leaders and sectarian chieftains squabble over who will control the Energy Ministry and the oil and gas bonanza in the eastern Mediterranean, Energy Minister Gebran Bassil accuses rivals of "conspiring against our oil."

And just to underline the extent of the prize that's at stake, one of Lebanon's major banking houses, Bank Audi, reported that on the basis of the 96 trillion cubic feet of gas and 865 million barrels of oil the ministry estimates lies offshore, Lebanon's energy wealth could exceed $600 billion.

The bank said in the report published Thursday it was optimistic about the prospects for the nascent energy industry, even though Lebanon's been without a functioning government since March 2013, has a $63 billion national debt, and is hovering on the brink of another bout of sectarian bloodletting linked to the civil war in neighboring Syria.

"In the longer run, beyond current temporary setbacks, Lebanon's long-term outlook bodes favorable," it said.

"As the extraction of oil and gas from its territories start to materialize, it can move the country from one state to a completely different one."

With such huge potential revenues, "the extraction of natural resources can put an end to the country's most significant postwar conundrum, which is public finances, while growth could turn into sustainably strong levels for a number of years."

The collapse of the government of Prime Minister Najib Mikati 11 months ago has blocked plans to launch exploration of Lebanese waters, because the caretaker government now in place is essentially powerless.

Meantime, the feuding politicians, representing Lebanon's fractious religious sects, cannot agree on a new, all-party government, while the nation's energy prospects are increasingly becoming a sectarian issue.

The main sticking point is the refusal of Hezbollah, the powerful Iranian-backed Shiite movement and its Maronite Catholic ally, the Free Patriotic Movement led by former army commander Gen. Michel Aoun, to relinquish the Energy Ministry, which has been headed by Bassil, Aoun's son-in-law, since 2009.

The key difference between the two main political coalitions is Lebanon's relationship with Syria, which has long dominated its tiny neighbor. The March 8 alliance, headed by Hezbollah, favors Syrian tutelage.

The March 14 bloc, headed by the Sunni Future Movement of former Prime Minister Saad Hariri, detests Syria.

It demands Hezbollah, whose forces are supporting the embattled Syrian regime, end its involvement in the Syrian war that's exacerbating sectarian passions in Lebanon.

The energy riches under the Mediterranean have only fueled these differences and the whole issue is becoming highly politicized, to the point that some Lebanese fear foreign oil companies will lose interest, particularly as the threat of renewed sectarian violence growing stronger by the day.

Because the caretaker government has been unable to approve decrees listing which of the exploration blocks will be drilled first and defining a revenue-sharing mechanism, an auction to award contracts has been postponed three times.

It was supposed to have been held in May 2013. Now it's scheduled for April 10, and given the political deadlock it's likely to be postponed again.

So given the bleak outlook, Bank Audi's evaluation that there's $600 billion out there for the taking by the Lebanese seemed a trifle over-optimistic in a region increasingly consumed by conflict.

But on closer reading, the report notes that the figure of $600 billion-plus was provided by "Ministry of Energy sources," which could account for its unusually upbeat tone.

This emerged after the As Safir daily published an op-ed by Bassil, who refuses to relinquish the Energy Ministry under a blueprint for a new government, that denounced the "conspiracy" against the FPM, and March 8 in general, by ensuring they're sidelined, particularly on energy, by rotating ministries between all parties.

"We will fight those conspiring against our oil," he vowed.

Bassil claims that for the minority Christians, the Energy Ministry is their guarantee they'll have a stake in Lebanon's anticipated prosperity.

The efforts to shift him out of the ministry is "a conspiracy affecting all citizens and their hopes of reviving Lebanon and making it prosperous...

"Their so-called ministerial rotation ... is the means of the conspiracy against Lebanon's oil ... and removing us from that ministry forever," he wrote.

"We warn against threatening the Christians by placing them outside the state ... We will stay inside the state, by force if necessary."

U.S. sees Iran nuclear talks difficult, success uncertain
[Beirut Daily Star] The United States said on Monday that talks between Iran and six world powers on a long-term deal for Tehran to limit its nuclear programme and see international sanctions lifted will be long and complicated with no guarantee of success.

The remarks came from a senior U.S. official, who spoke on condition of anonymity on the eve of the first round of high-level negotiations since an interim deal struck on Nov. 24 under which Tehran curbed some nuclear activities for limited sanctions relief.

"These next days this week are the beginning of what will be a complicated, difficult and lengthy process," the administration official told news hounds in the Austrian capital.

"When the stakes are this high and the devil is truly in the details, one has to take the time to ensure the confidence of the international community in the result," the official said. "That can't be done in a day, a week or even a month in this situation."

Senior officials from Britannia, China, La Belle France, Germany, Russia and the United States will begin several days of talks in Vienna on Tuesday with an Iranian delegation led by Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and his deputy Abbas Araqchi.

European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton will oversee the talks, which will be the first in what is expected to be a series of meetings in the coming months.

While cautioning the talks would take time, the official said Washington does not want them to run beyond a six-month deadline agreed in the Nov. 24 deal. The late July deadline can be extended for another half year by mutual consent.

"Our intent is to use these six months to negotiate a comprehensive agreement," the official said.

#5  We're in the Age of OWG-NWO + Globalism - any Globie-led "success" will be defined by OWG C-Superpower = Rising Iran HAVING NUCLEAR WEAPONS, N-O-T NOT HAVING NUCLEAR WEAPONS.

Ditto for any other Globie-desired OWG Global Fed Union Leader-Principal or Wannabe, e.g. BRAZIL, ETAL. = SOUTH AMERICAN UNION.

AGAIN, DO GLOBALISTS MEAN WHAT THEY SAY THAT THE WORLD'S GREAT POWERS, INCLUD THE SOLE SUPERPOWER USA, WILL UNILATERALLY GIVE UP POWER-N-AUTHORITY, ETC. SO THAT LESSOR POWERS OR NATIONS-STATES CAN RISE TO PARITY, OR DOTH "WHITEY/BWANA" ONCE AGAIN "SPEAKETH WID FORKED TONGUE(S)"???

["CROSS/CUTTING-SCISSOR" INDIAN FINGER SIGN here].

Because iff "Whitey" is speaking wid forked tongue, albeit PCorrect-Deniable, WHITEY WILL BE ATTACKED + WIPED OUT.

BARBARIAN-STYLE SPEARIN' + TOMAHAWKIN' + ClUBBIN', RAPIN' + PILLAGIN", MOLOTIVIN' + AK-47-IN + GLOCK-IN + RPG-IN', SAVE THIS TIME WID NUCLEAR, WMD = NT GOODNESS.

Against CHINA + Soon-to-be-Nuclear ISLAM/RADICAL ISLAM, IT WILL BE A WAR TO THE DEATH = WAR OF ANNIHILATION.

ITS CALLED "LYING" - TOO MUCH, TOO OFTEN, TO TOO MANY, ETC. FOR ONE'S OWN GOOD.

The "Critical Mass" or "Bubble", etc. is rapidly approaching its final or maxima limits of tolerance.

["THE BOY WHO CRIED WOLF" CHILDREN'S TALE here].

PAYBACK, LIKE IRONY, IS A BITCH!

Iran says may send forces to Pakistan to free border guards
[Pak Daily Times] Iran said on Monday it would send forces into Pakistain to free five border guards said to have been kidnapped by faceless myrmidons if Islamabad did not take measures to secure their release.

According to Iranian media reports, the guards were seized on February 6 in the Iranian province of Sistan-Balochistan
...the Pak province bordering Kandahar and Uruzgun provinces in Afghanistan and Sistan Baluchistan in Iran. Its native Baloch propulation is being displaced by Pashtuns and Punjabis and they aren't happy about it...
by faceless myrmidons who allegedly took them across the border to Pakistain. "If Pakistain doesn't take the needed steps to fight against the terrorist groups, we will send our forces into Pak soil. We will not wait for this country," Iranian Interior Minister Abdolreza Rahmani-Fazli was quoted as telling the semi-official Mehr news agency. An myrmidon Iranian group calling itself Jaish al-Adl had grabbed credit for the kidnapping, according to a Twitter account purporting to belong to the group. The account's authenticity could not be immediately verified. The area where the kidnappings took place has a history of unrest, with the mainly Sunni population complaining of discrimination by Iran's Shia authorities, a charge Iran denies. Iranian security forces have also fought narcos in the region that borders Pakistain and Afghanistan. The Iranian armed forces' deputy chief of staff was quoted as telling the semi-official Fars news agency that Iran would "show tough confrontation in this case". "We will have no soft stand in this case and our neighbouring country ... should account for its lack of action," Major General Hossein Hassani Sa'di told news hounds in Tehran on Monday, according to Fars English language website. Sa'di said the guards were still alive, and underlined that "political and military measures are underway to set them free", without elaborating. Interior Minister Rahmani-Fazli said an Iranian delegation would visit Pakistain on Monday to secure the guards' release, state news agency ISNA reported.

#1  * See RELATED FREEREPUBLIC per this AM, + as also linked from yesterday's news > IRAN THREATENS MILITARY INVASION OF PAKISTAN.

POTUS Bammer's covert rapprochement wid Iran vee keeping Baby Assad in power for now bears fruit.

Personally, I'm more interested in Pakistan's MilPol reaction to Islamic Superpower-wannabe, usurper Rising Iran's encroachment into its geopol backyard, espec ala China-vs-India.

Besides its on-going rivalry wid INDIA, Nuke-armed Pakistan has a long history of sponsoring andor supporting violent Regional + International terror groups, + its ISI is still accused by many Perts, Bloggers of being the principal power, or one of them, behind Osama as well as the TTP. Once formal power-sharing begins, the TTP + aligned is anticipated to eventually dominate or control the Islamabad Govt-Army like Hezbollah does in Lebanon, to include Pak's LRBMS + nuclear arsenal.

Army Circulates Picture of 'Dangerous Fugitive'
[An Nahar] The army on Monday circulated a picture of a man whom it described as a "dangerous runaway" who is wanted "for committing a certain crime."

It called on "anyone who recognizes him to call the Army Command's operations center on the number 1701 or to inform the nearest military post or to use the LAF Shield mobile phone app."

Later on Monday, MTV said "army intelligence agents incarcerated
Yez got nuttin' on me, coppers! Nuttin'!
in Hermel the dangerous runaway whose picture was circulated today."

But al-Jadeed TV said "the suspect whose picture was recently circulated by security forces in Hermel has been arrested."

The development comes after the army defused a booby-trapped car Sunday in the outskirts of the Baalbek town of Ham. The vehicle which infiltrated Leb from Syria contained around 240 kilos of explosives, 10 kilos of extremely flammable material and two 122 mm artillery shells.

On Wednesday, the army announced the arrest of top turban Naim Abbas, one of the leaders of the Qaeda-linked Abdullah Azzam Brigades
... Leb's current al-Qaeda affiliate, named after a guy whose car the current head of al-Qaeda had boomed...
. Following his interrogation, he told the army about a car rigged with more than 100 kilos of explosives which was dismantled in Beirut's Corniche al-Mazraa district.

Russia Rejects U.S. Charge of 'Enabling' Assad's Regime
[An Nahar] Russia on Monday dismissed U.S. claims that it was "enabling" Syria's Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
Before going into the family business Pencilneck was an eye doctor. If he'd stuck with it he'd have had a good practice by now...
to stay in power and failing to push for a transitional government that could help end the bloody conflict.

"We have done everything we have promised," Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told news hounds, referring to Moscow's efforts to get the Damascus regime to hold direct peace talks with opponents.

"First of all, we are working with the Syrian authorities on a daily basis, and second of all, statistics clearly show that the main problems are created not by the regime but by the terrorist and myrmidon groups that have spread across Syria and that do not answer to any political structure."

Syria's civil war has killed more than 140,000 people in nearly three years of fighting.

U.S. Secretary of State John F. I was in Vietnam, you know Kerry
Former Senator-for-Life from Massachussetts, self-defined war hero, speaker of French, owner of a lucky hat, conqueror of Cambodia, and current Secretary of State...
accused Russia on Monday of not doing enough to make sure the Syrian regime remained committed to the so-called Geneva II grinding of the peace processor that broke up in acrimony on Saturday without an agreement on further talks.

Kerry said Russia "has stood up publicly with me on several occasions and said they're committed to that transition government... yet we have not seen the kind of effort to create the dynamic by which that can be achieved".

Lavrov for his part noted that the Syrian opposition delegation at the Geneva negotiations was not represented by some of the most important members of the National Coalition umbrella group.

"They (Washington) assured us that they will be doing everything possible to ensure there is a truly representative opposition delegation," Russia's top diplomat said.

"For now, they have been having trouble doing this."

Kerry in Abu Dhabi for Syria Talks
[An Nahar] U.S. Secretary of State John F. I was in Vietnam, you know Kerry
Former Senator-for-Life from Massachussetts, self-defined war hero, speaker of French, owner of a lucky hat, conqueror of Cambodia, and current Secretary of State...
arrived in Abu Dhabi late Monday for talks on Syria and the Middle East hours after criticizing Russia for "enabling" the Assad regime.

Arriving from Jakarta on the sixth day of his latest diplomatic tour, Kerry began a meeting with Abu Dhabi's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed and Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed. He is expected to join them later for dinner.

"They will discuss important regional issues of mutual concern including the ongoing situation in Syria, specifically the humanitarian crisis and the Syrian regime's unwillingness to engage constructively in the Geneva talks," a senior State Department official said.

Earlier after meeting with Indonesian Foreign Minister Marty Natalegawa, Kerry lashed out at Russia for supplying arms to Syrian Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
Supressor of the Damascenes...
, despite committing to trying to find a political solution to end the three-year war.

The Syrian regime "stonewalled" the Geneva peace talks, which ended in failure at the weekend, and continued to "destroy their own country," Kerry told news hounds during a visit to the Indonesian capital.

"And I regret to say they're doing so with increased support from Iran, from Hizbullah and from Russia," he said.

"Russia needs to be a part of the solution and not be distributing so much more weapons and so much more aid that they're in fact enabling Assad to double-down. Which is creating an enormous problem."

The United States has become increasingly frustrated by the lack of progress in trying to oust Assad and bring in a transitional government to end the war which erupted in 2011, has cost over 136,000 lives and sent millions fleeing their homes.

But the administration of U.S. President Barack Obama
I am not a dictator!...
, despite being the single largest donor of humanitarian aid to the Syrian people, has steadfastly refused to provide heavy weapons to the rebels fighting Assad.

Government
Spy Chief: We Should've Told You We Track Your Calls
[The Daily Beast] The U.S. government long considered its collection of Americans' call records to be a state secret. Now the Director of National Intelligence
(DNI)
admits it would have been better if Washington had acknowledged the surveillance in the first place.
"Washington had acknowledged?" Washington ?
Even the head of the U.S. intelligence community now believes that its collection and storage of millions of call records was kept too secret for too long.
The agencies in charge of strategic 'predictive analysis' and the protection of the homeland, could not have predicted an eventual discovery of internal agency wrong doing and potential criminal activity? Perhaps new predictors are needed.
The American public and most members of Congress were kept in the dark for years about a secret U.S. program to collect and store such records of American citizens on a massive scale. The government's legal interpretation of section 215 of the Patriot Act that granted the authority for this dragnet collection was itself a state secret.

Then came Edward Snowden, the former NSA contractor who leaked the court warrant authorizing the surveillance--along with troves of other top-secret documents. Since that first disclosure of the secret warrant, Director of National Intelligence James Clapper has had to defend the government's activities against a skeptical Congress and wary public.

In an exclusive interview with The Daily Beast, Clapper said the problems facing the U.S. intelligence community over its collection of phone records could have been avoided. "I probably shouldn't say this, but I will. Had we been transparent about this from the outset right after 9/11--which is the genesis of the 215 program--and said both to the American people and to their elected representatives, we need to cover this gap, we need to make sure this never happens to us again, so here is what we are going to set up, here is how it's going to work, and why we have to do it, and here are the safeguards... We wouldn't have had the problem we had," Clapper said.
What about lying to Congress of the United States? Was a mistake as well ?
"What did us in here, what worked against us was this shocking revelation," he said, referring to the first disclosures from Snowden. If the program had been publicly introduced in the wake of the 9/11 attacks, most Americans would probably have supported it. "I don't think it would be of any greater concern to most Americans than fingerprints. Well people kind of accept that because they know about it. But had we been transparent about it and say here's one more thing we have to do as citizens for the common good, just like we have to go to airports two hours early and take our shoes off, all the other things we do for the common good, this is one more thing."

Since the first Snowden revelations in June, Clapper has declassified reams of material relating to the 215 program, including opinions and warrants signed by the top secret court that approves domestic snooping. But he has not publicly acknowledged until now his thoughts that the initial secrecy surrounding the program was ill-considered.

It's a bit of an adjustment in Clapper's public stance. The intelligence chief wrote in a letter to Sen. Ron Wyden, that the leak of the 215 program along with others "will do significant damage to the Intelligence Community's ability to protect the nation." (Of course, Snowden leaked more than the broad outlines of the program that Clapper said he would've liked disclosed.)
But it's not about Snowden, it's about the agency, the gov't, and a televised denial of criminal activity.

The people of America, not the so called separate powers of government must remove this regime, or a coalition of foreign armies will come in and do it themselves wrecking every thing from coast to coast in less than 10 year from now if this Democratic regime continues to hold power over a long period of time.
