Monday strongly condemned the killing of soldiers of Frontier Corps by snuffies and termed it a "heinous and brutal" act. The prime minister said the incident would have a negative impact on the talks process, initiated for a peaceful resolution of the issue. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif paid tribute to the slain FC soldiers, a message from the PM House said. "Pakistain cannot afford such bloodshed," Nawaz said and pointed out that the government initiated the talks following the recommendations of the all-parties conference. "However whenever we reach an encouraging point, the process is sabotaged," he said and termed it a painful situation that has also aggrieved the entire nation. The government negotiators were set to sit down for fresh talks with their Taliban counterparts on Monday but they cancelled the meeting after unanimously deciding it would be "purposeless". Nawaz announced talks with the Taliban on January 29 to "give peace another chance". The prime minister, in his statement, added that the government had approached the idea of talks after a collective go-ahead from the politicianship at the all-parties conference. President Mamnoon Hussain on Monday condemned the killing of the FC personnel and called it a grave crime. In a statement, the president stated that Pakistain cannot afford loss of more lives.
