Infighting between Gov’t troops in Hiran region
Reliable news sources from Beledweyne, the capital town of Hiran region confirmed to us that two sets of troops who belong to the federal Gov’t fought against each other at a kalabayar Junction which is a residential town located 25 km away from the capital.

The early morning infighting between the troops was caused by the controversy on who is in charge of a check point at the junction of the Kalabayar junction.

At least two soldiers have sustained injuries during the 30 minutes confrontations between the government troops. However, Ethiopian troops based at Kalabayar town intervened and stopped the infighting.

The situation of the small town is reported to be calm as for now.

Gunmen fire on bus, injure three in Rafah
[Egypt Independent] Three people were maimed on Wednesday after a bus transferring teachers from Rafah to Arish was attacked.

Officials said unidentified gunnies fired on the vehicle in the al-Sadat area, leaving three teachers injured.

Ansar Bayt al-Maqdis claims responsibility for Mansoura bombing
[Egypt Independent] Sinai-based jihadi group Ansar Bayt al-Maqdis, has grabbed credit on Wednesday for the kaboom that rocked the Daqahliya Security Directorate in Mansoura and led to the death of 16 people and the injuring of 132 others.

Ansar Bayt al-Maqdis identified Abu Mariam as the perpetrator of the attack in its statement.

The statement called on police and military officers to "quit their service in the militias of [Defense Minister Abdel Fattah] al-Sisi and [Interior Minister] Mohammed Ibrahim, and learn from the fate of their colleagues [who were killed in the incident]."

The blast that shook the Security Directorate early Tuesday also caused dozens of cars to crash as well as the collapse of large buildings in the Directorate and the National Theatre and other buildings nearby.

Egypt labels Muslim Brotherhood a terrorist group
[THEHILL] Egypt's military-run government has declared the Moslem Brüderbund a terrorist group.

The move comes months after the military removed Mohammed Morsi

from the presidency. Morsi was the Moslem Brüderbund's candidate in the 2012 election.

French Tanks Deploy at Bangui Airport amid Heavy Gunfire
[An Nahar] Around a dozen French tanks deployed Wednesday at Bangui's airport as intense gunfire in adjoining neighborhoods sowed panic among residents.

The tanks took positions at the entrance to the airport, where French and African peacekeepers are based, after automatic weapons fire and kabooms shook several parts of the city.

Tens of thousands of people have been sheltering in precarious conditions on the airport grounds since sectarian bloodletting erupted early this month in the former French colony, claiming hundreds of lives.

Automatic weapons fire, much of it from heavy machine guns, was heard but apparently not directed at the airport. It was especially intense in the nearby PK12 area.

Hundreds of panicked residents could be seen fleeing the area on foot towards central Bangui.

In chaotic scenes, others sought to join the displaced people already at the airport, which was already secured by French soldiers in combat positions behind sandbags before the tanks deployed.

Some residents who spoke to Agence La Belle France Presse by telephone accused former rebels backing Mohammedan interim president Michel Djotodia of mounting attacks, while others named Christian vigilantes as the aggressors.

Although Djotodia officially disbanded his Seleka rebels after seizing power in a March coup, some of its members went rogue, leading to months of killing, rape and pillaging -- and prompting some majority Christians to form vigilante groups.

Bangui was virtually deserted Wednesday because of regular outbursts of gunfire in other areas throughout the day.

Peacekeeping troops were also absent from the streets, with only one helicopter, probably French, circling above.

Earlier Wednesday, a front man for the African peacekeeping force MISCA said its Chadian troops would be redeployed out of the capital amid charges they were siding with a former rebel group.

"The whole Chadian contingent will be sent to secure the north in the next few days," MISCA front man Lieutenant Colonel Ndong Toutoune told AFP.

The front man did not elaborate on how or exactly where the Chadian troops would redeploy in the impoverished country that has for decades been prone to coups, rebellions and mutinies.

Later, several Chadian MISCA tanks and jeeps could be seen leaving the airport and heading towards the city center.

The Chadians, mainly because they are Mohammedan, face accusations by many in Bangui of complicity with the mostly Mohammedan Seleka rebels who overthrew president Francois Bozize in March in the predominantly Christian country.

Virginia Man Arrested for Trying to Ship Weapons to Lebanon
[An Nahar] U.S. federal authorities have incarcerated
Youse'll never take me alive coppers!... [BANG!]... Ow!... I quit!
a Virginia-based businessman for allegedly trying to ship dozens of weapons and high-tech devices to Leb, according to the U.S. network ABC News.

Sam Rafic Ghanem, owner of an international shipping company with offices in the Washington suburbs, was arrested Saturday after an FBI sting, ABC News said.

The intended recipient of the weapons is not clear, but at one point Ghanem claimed he was recently asked to obtain two guns for an unnamed member of the Lebanese government, according to court documents filed in the case.

Over the past few months, Ghanem and a former employee of his company, Washington Movers International, devised "a scheme to send weapons to Leb by hiding them inside automobile parts shipped by the company," court documents allege.

The former employee, though, was working as "an undercover source for the FBI," ABC News noted.

Last Saturday, the source picked up Ghanem from his Springfield, Virginia home and drove to Washington Movers International's offices in Maryland, where Ghanem helped stuff 10 handguns, 10 semi-automatic rifles and 18 "optic devices" into doors and other parts of salvaged vehicles, an FBI agent alleged in charging documents.

The car parts were then loaded into a shipping container, but the weapons hidden inside were "fake," according to the charging documents. Ghanem was subsequently arrested.

After he was handcuffed, Ghanem allegedly admitted to FBI agents that his intended shipment violated U.S. law, which prohibits the export of such weapons to Leb and other designated countries.

During a secretly recorded meeting at Ghanem's home in October, Ghanem noted to his former employee that he recently "had been asked to obtain two 'pieces' (guns) for a Lebanese official," but he didn't follow through "because he would have had to put the weapons in his name, and that was too dangerous," said the charging documents.

"Saturday's arrest was apparently not the first time the FBI visited Ghanem. FBI agents questioned him two years ago after two guns were found hidden in a car shipped by his company," ABC News said, quoting court documents.

Washington Movers International has offices in the U.S. state of Maryland; Doha, Qatar and Beirut. Ghanem, 43, started the company "from scratch," according to a profile of Ghanem posted online.

"As of two years ago, Ghanem was a follower of Druze ... and he was an active member in the faith's community. He served on the board of the Washington-area chapter of the American Druze Community," ABC News said, citing the company's online profile.

Ghanem has been charged with one count of "attempted export of defense articles" in violation of the Arms Export Control Act. If convicted, he faces five years in prison and a fine of $50,000, the network said.

He made his initial appearance Monday before a federal judge in Maryland. A detention hearing is scheduled for Thursday.

Grenade damages house
[DAWN] A house was damaged in Jhagra village in the limits of Chamkani cop shoppe when unidentified persons hurled a hand grenade at it on Wednesday.

A police official said that the attack was carried out in the evening but no loss of life was reported. He said that a portion of the house, owned by Shafiq, was damaged in the attack.

The official said that police conducted a search operation in the area, checked vehicles and pedestrians but no suspected person was placed in durance vile
Don't shoot, coppers! I'm comin' out!

However,
the difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits...
another official said that it seemed to be a 'fake' attack but Shafiq nominated his rivals Abdul Munir, Rasheed and Bilal in the FIR.

He said that Shafiq was already facing a buffalo stealing case and wanted to counter it through the 'fake' hand grenade attack. He said that a case was registered but the accused persons were not arrested because it needed to be probed.

US drone kills four suspected militants in North Waziristan
[DAWN] At least four suspected hard boyz were killed when a US drone fired two missiles at a compound near Miranshah
... headquarters of al-Qaeda in Pakistain and likely location of Ayman al-Zawahiri. The Haqqani network has established a ministate in centered on the town with courts, tax offices and lots of madrassas...
, the main town of North Wazoo tribal agency of Pakistain bordering Afghanistan, DawnNews reported late Wednesday night.

The attack took place around midnight in Qutab Khel village, five kilometres (three miles) south of Miranshah.

News agency AFP, however, reported three deaths.

"A US drone fired two missiles on a krazed killer compound, killing at least three suspected krazed killers," a security bigshot told AFP. A security official in Beautiful Downtown Peshawar
...capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (formerly known as the North-West Frontier Province), administrative and economic hub for the Federally Administered Tribal Areas of Pakistan. Peshawar is situated near the eastern end of the Khyber Pass, convenient to the Pak-Afghan border. Peshawar has evolved into one of Pakistan's most ethnically and linguistically diverse cities, which means lots of gunfire.
confirmed the attack and casualties.

Another official in Miranshah put the corpse count at four and said a fifth krazed killer was maimed.

The identities of those killed in the strike were not immediately known but officials suspect that they were of Afghan origin.

The area residents surrounded the house after the attack and pulled out the bodies, sources said, adding the bodies were charred beyond recognition.

The unmanned aircraft kept flying over the area after the strike that took place at around midnight, they said.

This was the first drone strike in the area during the month.

North Waziristan is one of seven semi-autonomous regions in Pakistain's Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) governed by tribal laws.

The region is chiefly off-limits to news hounds because of security worries and government restrictions due to which reliable casualty figures are difficult to acquire from there.

An Death Eater insurgency led by the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistain (TTP) plagues the region, known to be infested with krazed killers, including those from Al Qaeda and other armed Death Eater organizations.

Pak government criticises drone strikes as a violation of illusory sovereignty and counterproductive to anti-terror efforts. But ties with Washington have nevertheless improved this year after lurching from crisis to crisis in 2011 and 2012.

Last month, a dronezap on a seminary linked to the feared Haqqani krazed killer network in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa
... formerly NWFP, still Terrorism Central...
province in the northwest killed at least six people.

The attack, which krazed killer sources said killed the Haqqanis' spiritual leader along with five others, was extremely unusual as it was mounted outside Pakistain's lawless tribal areas on the Afghan border.

Christmas Day Bombings In Iraq's Capital Kill 37
[HOSTED.AP.ORG] Militants in Iraq targeted Christians in three separate Christmas Day bombings in Storied Baghdad
...located along the Tigris River, founded in the 8th century, home of the Abbasid Caliphate...
, killing at least 37 people, officials said Wednesday.

In one attack, a boom-mobile went off near a church in the capital's southern Dora neighborhood, killing at least 26 people and wounding 38, a police officer said.

Earlier, two bombs destroyed a nearby outdoor market simultaneously in the Christian section of Athorien, killing 11 people and wounding 21, the officer said.

The Iraq-based leader of the Chaldean Catholic Church, Louis Sako, said the parked boom-mobile went kaboom! after Christmas Mass and that none of the worshippers were hurt. Sako said he didn't believe the church was the target.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attacks, but Iraq's dwindling Christian community, which is estimated to number about 400,000 to 600,000 people, often has been targeted by al-Qaeda and other Death Eaters who see the Christians as heretics.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Over 400 Killed in 10-Day Air Blitz of Syria's Aleppo
[An Nahar] A 10-day air offensive by Syria's regime against rebel areas of divided Aleppo city and nearby villages has killed more than 400 people, including 117 children, a monitor said Wednesday.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said that by Tuesday night the toll since December 15 from air strikes and a bombing campaign using barrels packed with TNT stood at 410. Also among the dead were 34 women, 30 rebel fighters and nine jihadists.

The Britannia-based group said that the air force pressed its assault into an 11th day on Wednesday, with fresh raids on the opposition-held districts of Sakhur and Jabal Badro in eastern Aleppo city.

However it had no immediate information on further casualties.

Aleppo has been divided into regime and rebel-held enclaves since the opposition launched a massive offensive in July last year.

Rights groups have blasted the regime's relentless air raids against Aleppo and its dropping of massively destructive barrel bombs in civilian areas.

Human Rights Watch
... dedicated to bitching about human rights violations around the world...
has described the use of such weapons as "indiscriminate and therefore unlawful".

The United States too has condemned the regime's aerial assault on civilian areas of Aleppo, accusing the military of using barrel bombs and SCUD missiles "indiscriminately".

On Wednesday, the Arab League
...an organization of Arabic-speaking states with 22 member countries and four observers. The League tries to achieve Arab consensus on issues, which usually leaves them doing nothing but a bit of grimacing and mustache cursing...
and the European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
joined the chorus of criticism against the regime's offensive.

"The High Representative (Catherine Ashton) is deeply concerned with reports of an escalating bombing campaign in the city of Aleppo," the EU said in a statement.

"She condemns the unabated use of air strikes by the Syrian government on civilian areas."

Arab League chief Nabil al-Arabi meanwhile called on "the Syrian army to stop the air bombings" on Aleppo, condemning the killing of "hundreds of innocent civilians, especially women and kiddies."

Arabi also called on the U.N. Security Council "to take responsibility" to end the conflict raging in Syria.

The opposition National Coalition has said it will boycott peace talks slated for January if the bombing of Aleppo does not cease.

A security source in Damascus on Tuesday defended the military's operations as necessary to "save Aleppo".

"We do not target any area unless we are 100 percent sure that the ones there are terrorists," the source said, using the regime's term for the rebels.

"The bodies you see on television are the bodies of snuffies and mercenaries, most of whom traveled into Syria from abroad."

Syria hit back at the U.S. on Tuesday, describing it as a "one-eyed pirate" for condemning the aerial assault but "ignoring the crimes committed by the terrorists".

Meanwhile,
...back at the chili cook-off, Chuck reached for the green sauce...
fighting raged on Wednesday in the Aleppo province area of Naqarin, pitting rebels and jihadists on one side against the army backed by Lebanese Shiite Hezbollah fighters and the paramilitary National Defense Force.

The regime's ground forces were backed by helicopters. which dropped barrel bombs on rebel-held areas, the Observatory said.

Truce Agreed in Besieged Town near Damascus
[An Nahar] The Syrian government and rebels in a besieged town near Damascus have reached a landmark truce agreement to allow aid access to trapped civilians, an activist told Agence La Belle France Presse on Wednesday.

Under the truce in Moadamiyet al-Sham, the official flag was raised over the area on Wednesday and will be flown for 72 hours, in exchange for much-needed food supplies for thousands of trapped civilians, said Abu Malek of the town's opposition Local Council.

"A truce came into force on Wednesday, and the people have accepted as a gesture of goodwill to fly the regime flag over the town's water towers," Abu Malek said via the Internet.

"Food should be allowed into the town on Thursday. If this goes well, we will hand over the heavy weapons, but the regime army will not enter the town," he added.

"Then in the next phase, people who were displaced should be allowed to return home, without being incarcerated
Drop the rod and step away witcher hands up!
, and the checkpoints around the city must be removed," said Abu Malek.

A source close to Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
Before going into the family business Pencilneck was an eye doctor. If he'd stuck with it he'd have had a good practice by now...
's regime confirmed that there had been a truce agreement, but said the army would enter into the town in order to ensure all the weapons had been handed over.

According to Abu Malek, Moadamiyet al-Sham residents are divided over the agreement.

Some believe "it is more important to feed the civilian women and kiddies," while another, more radical section of the opposition, does not want to be perceived as giving in, he said.

"But either way the revolution continues, and we will see what the regime has to offer. If they honor the conditions, then very well. If not, then it will be back to fighting," said Abu Malek.

He noted that on Wednesday, there was no shelling on the town for the first time in many months.

Car Bomb Rocks Ain el-Hilweh Overnight
[An Nahar] A boom-mobile rocked the Paleostinian refugee camp of Ein el-Hellhole overnight on Wednesday, reported Voice of Leb radio (93.3).

It said that the kaboom went off shortly after midnight in the Taamir neighborhood of the camp that is located near the southern city of Sidon.

The army has since cordoned off the area and launched an investigation in the incident.

VDL later identified the driver of the silver Mercedes as Mohammed Sobhi al-Baltaji, a supporter of Salafist holy man Sheikh Ahmed al-Asir
...Leb Salafist holy man with the usual grouch against Shiites. Currently on the run, he seems intent on reigniting the Leb civil war...
.

The National News Agency later said that only material damage was incurred in the blast, including damage to the car and surrounding area.

Asir, a 45-year-old holy man is wanted by the Lebanese authorities for festivities his supporters waged against the army in Sidon's Abra region in June.

Eighteen soldiers were killed and 20 others were maimed in the fighting. Twenty of Asir's gunnies were also killed in the unrest.
