Lt. Col Bateman responds, in friendly press
Lt. Colonel Robert Bateman, the current serving member of the US Army, who previously wrote in advocating for nationwide gun confiscation about prying your guns fro your cold dead fingers, apparently has a lack of understanding why such a death threat would elicit death threats in return. Again, Bateman is trading on the military service and a friendly forum. I doubt he would last long elsewhere.

As an aside, Bateman has been publishing his anti gun views since at least 2005, and on liberal opinion outlets, such as Esquire. He has written books on military history and he says inasmuch as he is an active duty infantry officer, he is a military historian. Whenever he encounters argument on the facts he presents, he trades on his military career.

My guess is that most, if not 80 percent of the anonymous death and rape threats he has received, have been from leftists who believe, wrongly, that it will shame those who press the restoration of the right to keep and bear arms, who will back down. We know that the national administration and sympathetic state politicians would not hesitate to use sock puppets to paint their opponents for political gain, again wrongly assuming that support for their fascist laws would increase.

Via Western Rifle Shooters Association

A large percentage of these threats seem to have originated from the National Rifle Association, which posted an essay on their page about me.

So what do you think about the NRA's advocacy? Just curious, since their essay resulted in death threats to me, threats of rape to my wife, and threats of abduction and murder of my six-month-old daughter from the people who read the NRA's column. Personally, I think a little bit less of an organization like the NRA, which incites their members to threaten rape and murder and the abduction of babies. But perhaps, if you are an NRA member, you may approve of some of the messages above. That, of course, is your right.
The essay Bateman refers to is here. Dunno if it has ever been posted at Rantburg.

#1  Well Colonel, I would start by referring those alleged threats to the SJA, MP's, local LE and the FBI. A good follow-up measure [since you are busy writing] would be buying a pistol for the wife and signing her up for some NRA approved firearms training.

Don't forget to add you anti-NRA advocacy and Esquire articles as OER bullets. You look like general officer material [in today's army] to me.

#2  As a point of order, Master Bateman, you first penned the article and in so said so much as agree or die.

Second, this is not NRA advocacy; they simply noted an article posted by someone of rank and self said expertise. This is disingenuous, like stating that because your article is posted in Esquire, then Esquire is pro-chicken humping.

#3  Bateman is entitled to his opinion as set forth in the 1st Amendment. However, as an active member of the military, he has sworn to uphold the Constitution which includes the 2nd Amendment.

India-Pakistan
Letter to an Indian nanny in New York
Dear Foreign Housekeeper/ Babysitter in New York:

I am writing to give you some good news. I am the president of Do-gooders Foundation in New York City. We are affiliated to the Sanctimonious Eastern Seaboard Bleeding Hearts Foundation. We can help you get Green Cards and stay in the US indefinitely. We can also help you get members of your family over to the US.

Despite the warnings of some of our earlier leaders like President Reagan, we have managed to put in place laws setting minimum wages at an extremely high level. This has of course, resulted in a large number of young people in our country not getting jobs at all. Most of these young people are African Americans and Hispanics. But this is not the time and place to talk about the deleterious effects of a high minimum wage law on our own youth.

What is of relevance to you is that though you may be getting much higher wages than you would have in your home country, though you may in fact be saving handsomely as compared to your earlier state, though you may have voluntarily taken up employment at wage levels that are attractive to you, the fact of the matter is that those attractive levels are lower than our generous statutory minimum wages. You can leverage this situation to your advantage provided you let us guide you.

You must come with us to our "friendly" law enforcement official. This friendly official has political ambitions. He/ she wants to initiate high-profile cases against prominent persons (for example, IMF head, consular officer) and obtain convenient publicity by handcuffing such persons on airplanes or outside schools, by subjecting them to the same treatment that is meted out to potentially violent, absconding criminals and by then claiming that all are equal before the law. Quite definitely in the area of handcuffing all seem to be equal in New York, the citadel of Left Liberalism.

You may wish to make the point that you have been overworked and ill-treated. Frankly, this is not of interest to us. Our organisation and the friendly law enforcement officer are both completely indifferent to individual suffering. You are important as a symbol in our sanctimonious fight for Human Rights, with both the "H" and the "R" being in capitals. You may also make the point that you were actually treated quite well. This too is irrelevant. We are not interested in the Truth. We are only interested in making our ideological point. You may be aware that there are literally millions of illegal aliens in the US who are not being paid minimum wages. You may be wondering as to why law enforcement officials do not go after these cases. The point is that there is no publicity value unless the alleged perpetrator of the Human Right abuse has a high profile. And without publicity value, there is no political gain for the friendly law enforcement officer. You may also be curious to know as to how large US corporations are allowed to employ college graduates as unpaid interns. This is perfectly in order. It is a way for rich and well-connected kids to enter the job market. Sometimes, we get around the issue by calling them "volunteers"! That is fine. But the entry of foreign workers into the job market at wages acceptable to them is verboten.

You may be concerned that you have filled out various forms and signed them and therefore that you may be held responsible for them. Please do not worry on this score. We will simply make the case wherever it suits us, that some of the forms have been filled out by your evil employer or that you were tricked or forced into signing them. You may be worried that your family in your home country, who have been receiving generous remittances from you (generous by your home country standards), may get into trouble. Again, you need not worry. We will make the case that you as a witness to gross Human Rights abuse are being intimidated using your family as a leverage point. We will therefore arrange for them to be discreetly brought to the US as part of the programme to protect you as a witness.

In return for getting a Green Card for yourself and your family, all you have to do is to be guided by us in the area of depositions and provision of evidence against your prominent employer. You must admit that this is a far easier way to get a Green Card than having to go to university, obtain multiple degrees, work hard, pay taxes, contribute to social security, improve the innovative and entrepreneurial climate of the US and so on. All these in our opinion are passe. Who wants innovation and entrepreneurship? We are opposed to job creation everywhere in the world — be it Buffalo or Bangalore or Shanghai. We want all people everywhere to be welfare recipients. That situation entirely suits our purpose. Some of our opponents have accused us of promoting a "Get Green Cards Easily" scheme. They just do not get it. We are not in the least bit ashamed of this description of us. In fact, we treat this as an accolade.

Lastly, it would greatly help if you can provide us ammunition to convert an employment issue into one of human trafficking. We are not interested in preventing really horrifying human trafficking. But we find this vocabulary very useful in getting favourable judgments from the judiciary and of course great publicity.

Thanking you for your support and assuring you of our best services in helping you and your family get Green Cards,

I remain,

Sincerely yours,

S.A.H.R.Liberal (Self-Appointed Human Rights Liberal)

President

Do-Gooders Foundation — Affiliated to Sanctimonious Eastern Seaboard Bleeding Hearts Foundation

P.S. In case you are from India, please note that for our political advantage, we would be doubly happy to derail Indo-US relations which were promoted by that vile Republican President George W. Bush.

Home Front: Culture Wars
Angsty Emo Outrage and Ducks
So Phil Robertson, who has one of the highest rated shows on cable, was asked a direct question concerning his personal religious beliefs and he gave an honest answer. Of course, honest religious opinions are not tolerated in America if they in any way hurt the feelings of statist control freaks, so the usual suspects had a come apart. A&E, being good at appeasement but bad at math, put Robertson on indefinite hiatus. Which means "we fired him, unless we wimp out at that too, and once we see which way the winds blow, we'll bring him back."

Here is the actual article that got the guy fired: http://www.gq.com/entertainment/television/201401/duck-dynasty-phil-robertson We'll go through the actual controversial statements in a bit, just to see how little it takes to make the lefty censors outrage spike. But you should read it, because as usual you will quickly discover that most of the outrage you're getting off the internet is mostly nonsense. I warn you now, the article sucks. It is your usual breathless hyperbolic overstatement written by a typical man-child of a journalist who has never lived anywhere that is not completely paved and who considers Connecticut wild country. (oh my gosh, the ATV has seatbelts, but they are not used! I shot a .22 and a hit a bottle! I am a warrior!).

This is all over the internet right now, which is good, because people need to realize just how rigged the system is. The left in America simply cannot tolerate disagreement, deviation from group think is heresy, and when you piss them off, if they can't dismiss you, they steamroll you. The actual topic is irrelevant. This particular one was homosexuality, but it just as easily could be guns, healthcare, or global warming.

#8  Read his post last night courtesy of a pointer from Instapundit.

Here's his answer to a moronic commenter:

"I missed the part where I said I expected anybody else to stand up for anything. This here is my opinion page. Go annoy somebody who gives a shit what some anonymous internet p*ssy, submoronic troglodyte thinks. Stormfront is that way. In other words, F*CK OFF."

(except he didn't use the "*"; apparently the 'Burg's naughty-word catcher didn't like one of those words and refused to accept the comment with them spelled out)

I think I'm in love. ;-p

#9  It was a heck of a well-written article unlike the whiny, shrill articles on the left that try to stifle discussion or debate by citing "PC violations. The left was all a-twitter and cried about hurt feelings and ruffled feathers. Alas, panties were all in a wad. Political correctness is the ultimate tyranny; debate or reasonable discussion gets shut down before it occurs by invoking PC. There were calls for the crucifixion of Phil Robertson to quiet him because some particular group(s) didn't like what he was saying. Next, there will be calls for re-education camps to straighten out the thinking of anyone who offends anyone. We're almost there now.
Posted by: JohnQC || 12/26/2013 17:10 Comments || Top||

#10  They already have re-education camps. They're called "sensitivity training" or "diversity training". You can be ordred to go there by your employer or commanding officer.

#11  ...imo, GLAAD, etal. are opportunistic and morally shark-like creatures which work to reveal where they can, and imply, where they can't, malice for its reflected outrage (payoff).

Mr. Robinson maybe should expend some resources in neutralizing the GQ (?!)-"revealed" and GLAAD-exploited perception of said malice, sans apology..? Or maybe discover he is a member of a Muslim sect that formally practices malice as a major tenant..?
