Darfur governor urges civilians to take up arms amidst escalating violence
[SUDANTRIBUNE] The governor of Darfur, leader of the Sudan Liberation Army (SLA), has called on citizens to defend their property against looting and theft following the outbreak of armed conflict between the government army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).

In a tweet from El-Fasher, Governor Minnawi highlighted the increasing attacks on civilians and the sabotage of national institutions since the start of the fighting in Darfur.

He urged the people of Darfur to take up arms to protect their property, emphasizing that the struggle movements would support them in legitimate acts of self-defence.

Responding to the varied reactions to his call, Minnawi issued a statement clarifying that it was a response to the deteriorating security situation and widespread looting and theft, including from homes, shops, government institutions, and humanitarian organizations.

He expressed his commitment to neutrality and called for an immediate cessation of the war, urging direct dialogue for a comprehensive political solution.

Darfur gangs formed a joint force to protect civilians earlier this month.

#1  Looking behind the curtain:
Sudanese Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok appointed former rebel leader Mini Arko Minawi as the governor of the western Darfur region. Minawi, an ethnic Zaghawa, is the leader of the Sudan Liberation Movement (SLM) which began fighting the government, among other rebel groups of Darfur, since 2003 accusing it of targeting the non-Arab citizens of the region. As posited, it appears more and more like the battle raging is between riverain Arabs and Sudan's African ethnic minorities.

Mauritania: Ruling party confirms landslide victory in second round of legislative elections
[AFRICANEWS] Mauritania's parliamentary elections have delivered their verdict. And the ruling party is rubbing its hands with an overwhelming majority in victory. El Insafe is credited with 107 of the 176 seats in the National Assembly.

President Mohammed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani's party won 27 of the 36 seats at stake in the second round of legislative elections. Its allies will have 42 MPs.

The opposition had to make do with 27 seats. In the 2nd round, it won 3 seats out of 24 in the first round. Gender parity has yet to be achieved. The new Mauritanian legislature will have 24.2% women members.

Opposition parties and some majority forces challenged the regularity of the ballot and called for a new vote. The results published by the Electoral Commission have yet to be validated by the courts in the event of an appeal.

.

The official front man for the southern revolutionary movement, Muhammad al-Nu’mani, said in a tweet on Twitter, "Many state institutions, camps, and some airports have turned into secret prisons for political opponents from leaders of the revolutionary movement."

Caribbean-Latin America
Iran Says No Limit to Military Ties with Venezuela
[ENGLISH.ALMANAR.LB] Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Ashtiani highlighted the Islamic Theocratic Republic’s close defense and security cooperation with Venezuela
...a country in Central America that sits on an enormous pool of oil. Formerly the most prospereous country in the region, it became infested with Commies sniffing almost unlimited wealth. It turned out the wealth wasn't unlimited, the economy collapsed under the clownish Hugo Chavez, the murder rate exceeded places like Honduras and El Salvador. A significant proportion of the populace refugeed to Colombia and points south...
, saying Tehran places no restrictions on supplying weapons to countries that are committed to world peace and security.

In an interview with Tasnim news agency, published on Sunday, Brig. Gen. Ashtiani described Venezuela as a great nation that is located in a sensitive region and with which Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both. They hate Jews Zionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
has maintained close relations at the level of presidents for years.

The Iranian DM said his ministry, which coordinates the activities of Iran-Venezuela joint economic commission, organizes plans to provide the Latin American nation with various domestic capabilities, such as in the security and defense spheres.

Asked about the export of Iranian arms to Venezuela, Brig. Gen. Ashtiani said, "We face no restrictions regarding provision of (military) equipment to the other countries. We are in contact with all countries and maintain such relations mightily. We would certainly help any country that is committed to protecting international interests, security and peace and cares about the common world security."

In June 2022, the presidents of Iran and Venezuela signed a 20-year partnership agreement in Tehran to promote cooperation in various fields.

The president of Venezuela and the foreign minister of Iran, at a meeting held in Caracas in February 2023, stressed the need for the two countries to safeguard their national interests vigilantly in the face of external pressures and threats.

BLM co-founder loses multi-platform Warner Brothers deal after delivering no content on contract
[THEPOSTMILLENNIAL] In October 2020, 39-year-old Black Lives Matter co-founder and former leader Patrisse Cullors signed a multi-year contract with Warner Bros Television Group to create content for the entertainment giant, but the studio quietly ended then relationship last year with no material produced, reports the New York Post.

On Friday, a source familiar with the situation told the outlet, "The studio signed an overall deal with BLM co-founder Patrisse Cullors at some point in 2020" but the "Deal expired at end of October 2022."

"The deal unfortunately did not result in any produced shows," the source added.

The agreement was a multi-year, multi-platform deal in which Cullors would produce original material, including scripted comedies and dramas, animated shows, and documentary series, that would focus on black stories. The content would go out on the distributor's broadcast, cable, and streaming platforms.

Variety first reported on the deal in 2020 but did not disclose its value.

Previously, Cullors said in an interview that she was working on material for Warner Bros, including documentaries focused on reparations and social mobility of black Americans as well as a scripted program on marijuana.
"and a little black mermaid"
Patrisse Cullors, who helped found BLM in 2013, stepped down from the organization after a real-estate scandal emerged in May 2021 when it was revealed she spent $3.2 million on four different homes in Georgia and Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party,. Soon after more reports started to emerge of Black Lives Matter leadership using company funds for personal luxury.

The Grand Turk
Erdogan confronts polarized Turkey after historic win
[An Nahar] Ottoman Turkish President His Enormity, Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First
...Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey. In Anatolia did Recep Bey a stately Presidential Palace decree, that has 1100 rooms. That's 968 more than in the White House, 400 more than in Versailles, and 325 more than Buckingham Palace, so you know who's really more important...
on Monday confronted the tough task of uniting his deeply divided country after winning a historic run-off election to extend his two-decade rule to 2028.

The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the occupiers of Greek Asia Minor...
's longest-serving leader brushed aside a powerful opposition coalition, a biting economic crisis and widespread anger following a devastating February earthquake to beat secular challenger Kemal Kilicdaroglu in Sunday's vote.

But the four-point victory margin was Erdogan's narrowest of any past election, highlighting the sharp polarisation the Islamic-rooted conservative will contend with during his third and final term as president.

Erdogan attempted to sound conciliatory in a victory speech to thousands of jubilant supporters gathered outside Ankara's presidential palace, calling on Turks to "come together in unity and solidarity."

Kilicdaroglu remained defiant by vowing to "continue the struggle" against Erdogan and his AKP party, which has dominated Ottoman Turkish politics since 2002.

"Our elders taught us to struggle... we will not lose or give up on this country with one election," Bugra Iyimaya, a 28-year-old academic, told AFP in Istanbul.

"We will resist and fight until the end."

Erdogan's elated supporters hailed the man they call "Reis" (chief) after he won the first run-off in Turkey's history.

"The person who is beneficial to our country won. I'm very happy because of his beliefs, the rest has no importance. The country comes first," street vendor Gursel Ozkok, 65, told AFP in Ankara.

"The man of the people won," blared the front page of Monday's pro-government daily Sabah.

NAB summons Sheikh Rashid in 190 million settlement case
[GEO.TV] The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Monday summoned former federal minister and Awami Moslem League (AML) chief Sheikh Rashid Ahmed in the al-Qadir Trust case related to the settlement of 190 million pounds.

Rashid, who is a close confidant of Pakistain Tehrik-e-Insaf
...a political party in Pakistan. PTI was founded by former Pakistani cricket captain and philanthropist Imran Khan. The party's slogan is Justice, Humanity and Self Esteem, each of which is open to widely divergent interpretations....
(PTI) Chairman Imran Khan
...aka The Great Khan, who ain't the sharpest bulb on the national tree...
, has been directed to appear before the anti-corruption watchdog in person tomorrow (Tuesday) at 11am.

As per the NAB notice, the former federal minister was also asked to bring along all documents related to the case.

Khan — along with his wife Bushra Bibi and other PTI leaders — is facing a NAB inquiry related to a settlement between the PTI government and a property tycoon, which reportedly caused a loss of £190 million to the national exchequer.

As per the charges, the former prime minister and other accused allegedly adjusted Rs50 billion — £190 million at the time — sent by Britannia’s National Crime Agency (NCA) to the Pak government as part of the agreement with the property tycoon.

They are also accused of getting undue benefit in the form of over 458 kanals of land at Mouza Bakrala, Sohawa, to establish al-Qadir University.

During the PTI government, the NCA seized assets worth 190 million pounds from the property tycoon in Britannia.

The agency said the assets would be passed to the government of Pakistain and the settlement with the Pak property tycoon was "a civil matter, and does not represent a finding of guilt".

JIT 'summons Imran Khan' in Jinnah House attack case today
[GEO.TV] A joint investigation team (JIT) — formed by the Punjab
1.) Little Orphan Annie's bodyguard
2.) A province of Pakistain ruled by one of the Sharif brothers
3.) A province of India. It is majority (60 percent) Sikh and Hindoo (37 percent), which means it has relatively few Moslem riots....

interim government to probe arson attacks on Jinnah House (Corps Commander's House) and the Askari Corporate Tower in Lahore on May 9 — has summoned Pakistain Tehrik-e-Insaf
...a political party in Pakistan. PTI was founded by former Pakistani cricket captain and philanthropist Imran Khan. The party's slogan is Justice, Humanity and Self Esteem, each of which is open to widely divergent interpretations....
(PTI) Chairman Imran Khan
...aka The Great Khan, who isn't your heaviest-duty thinker, maybe not even among the top five...
today (Tuesday), well-placed sources said.

Khan's arrest earlier this month sparked days of street protests after which the PTI leaders' exodus started, as security forces launched a crackdown against the party following the attacks on civil and military institutions, including the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi and the Lahore Corps Commander’s House. At least eight people were killed in the violent mostly peaceful protests in the country.

The JIT headed by Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Kamran Adil has asked the former prime minister — who was removed from office via a vote of no-confidence in April last year — to appear before the probe body at 4pm on May 30 at Qila Gujjar Singh investigation headquarters.

The sources privy to the matter said that the JIT will grill Khan in connection with the May 9 riots. The Punjab Home Department has constituted 10 different joint investigation teams (JITs) to conduct a probe into the attacks and violent mostly peaceful protests on May 9, which the army dubbed as "Black Day".

The deposed prime minister was nominated in several FIRs lodged at different cop shoppes in the province, the sources added.

Gemayel to Qassem: Hezbollah logic 'laughable yet lamentable'
[An Nahar] Kataeb leader Sami Gemayel accused Hezbollah Monday of having only destructive options for the presidential file.

In response to Hezbollah deputy chief Sheikh Naim Qassem
... the Grand Vizier of the Hezbullies...
, Gemayel said that Hezbollah is confused and that its logic is "laughable yet lamentable."

"Do we have to either agree on your confrontational candidate or permanently submit to your orders," Gemayel asked. "Don't you have any other options but these destructive ones?"

Qassem had said that those opposed to the election of Marada leader Suleiman Franjieh can barely agree on a candidate from a list of sixteen.

"A patriotic and unifying Christian president is better for Leb
...an Iranian colony situated on the eastern Mediterranean, conveniently adjacent to Israel. Formerly inhabited by hardy Phoenecian traders, its official language is now Arabic, with the usual unpleasant side effects. The Leb civil war, between 1975 and 1990, lasted a little over 145 years and produced 120,000 fatalities. The average length of a ceasefire was measured in seconds. The Lebs maintain a precarious sectarian balance among Shiites, Sunnis, and about a dozeen flavors of Christians. It is the home of Hezbollah, which periodically starts a war with the Zionist Entity, gets Beirut pounded to rubble, and then declares victory and has a parade. The Lebs have the curious habit of periodically murdering their heads of state or prime ministers...
than a confrontational president with sectarian motives," Qassem said.
