Seth Ator has been identified as the accused gunman who was shot and killed by police after a rampage in Odessa and Midland, Texas, according to the Odessa Police Department. Police said the shooter was taken down by officers at the Cinergy movie complex in Odessa. The incident began around 3:15 p.m. local time on Saturday, August 31, as an attempted traffic stop along Interstate 20.
Police had originally been looking for two potential gunmen. But after Ator was shot, officials stated that there was no longer a threat of an active shooter. Investigators now say they are confident Ator acted alone.
Seven victims were killed in Saturday’s rampage, according to federal officials. More than 20 others were injured, several critically. Three law enforcement officers who were injured, including the state trooper who was shot during the traffic stop, are expected to recover.

I expect this will be simply a criminal matter since apparently. There has not bee much come out on this guy - so I bet something doesn't fit the mainstream progessive press' desired narrative, other then Beta O'Dork yapping with f-bombs.
No, not the entry line for a joke. Apparently the Vicarius Filii Dei is subject to Murphy's Law too.
[CBSNews] Thousands of people who were gathered in St. Peter's Square for the traditional Sunday on-the-dot-of-noon appearance by Pope Francis were watching for the window of the Apostolic Palace to be thrown open so they could listen to the pope's remarks and receive his blessing. But after seven minutes, the Pope still hadn't shown himself.
Then Francis popped out and answered their question: "First of all I must excuse myself for being late. I was blocked in an elevator for 25 minutes."
Apparently referring to electrical power, Francis explained there was a "drop in tension," causing the elevator to get stuck. Probably from his benevolent presence, it attained a state of peace sans all anxiety.
"Thank God the firefighters intervened," Francis said, referring to tiny Vatican City State's own fire department. "Let's hear it for [them]!" " Heh ! We here to save the Pope ! You the Pope ? "
He then asked for a round of applause for his rescuers, and went ahead with his regular remarks and blessings, concluding with an announcement that he has chosen 13 churchmen to become the Church's newest cardinals.
The Vatican didn't say if the pope was alone in the elevator or accompanied by any of his aides.
⚠️Alert: Hurricane #Dorian has started to knock out internet infrastructure across the #Bahamas as the Category 5 storm approaches #Abaco with devastating 180 mph winds
#3
For those keeping track at home, #HurricaneDorian is now just 15 mph shy of the ALL TIME record for maximum sustained wind speed in an Atlantic basin hurricane.
Dorian could give this record a run for its money.

Apparently the storm decided to head north after President Trump chased it away from Mar-a-Lago using his Trumpian super powers. Sorry, h8ters! Sympathy for anyone in the storm's path.

According to Weather Underground, lowest US barmoetric reading at sea level was:
The lowest pressure ever measured anywhere in the United States (either as a result of a tropical or extra-tropical storm) was a reading of 892 mb (26.34”) at Matecumbe Key, Florida during the Great Labor Day Hurricane of September 2, 1935, the most intense hurricane ever to strike the United States.

The larger problem in my mind is how slow it's moving. 5MPH westbound. It's not just going to hit, it's going to DRAG ON. I'm not sure there's going to be anything left of the Bahama's after this, 20ft surge supposedly. Certainly looks like it from the provided video's

A number of African countries are starting to reconsider that these deals may not be as golden as they first appeared. The meaning of payback costs and long leases are starting to sink in.
[DailyWire] Equality? No thanks. Women at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) will be able to enter engineering and construction degrees with a lower score on an admissions test than their male counterparts. Maybe we should do with STEM the same we do with athletics?
Way to tar all the women in the field as inherently inferior, guys.

How do you lower the standards of math and science itself ? Round off π to 3 ? g to 10 ? e to 3.
How can you make things easier than they are for math ? Math was invented to make stuff easier to explain and work with.
You can just lower your expectations of students grasping the lessons, which is a lazy way of teaching. Maybe this is all for letting teachers earn their pay doing lesser work. And the teachers reciprocate by finding every opportunity to steer students toward political purposes.

Sadly, they'll also lower the standards for staying in the program.

I know a number of women who did just fine without any softening of standards, and quite a few men who were not meant for stem. And while I could have done at least the first half of the coursework, I would have been absolutely miserable in the profession, and no less miserable promoted into management to get me away from doing the work.
Softening the requirements and hand holding during training will just result in women who will be miserable their entire careers because they’ll have been shoved into situations that do not suit them. There are so many good career options for women who have some understanding of numbers and science — why not let them be happy and productive at their natural level instead?

‘If you don’t do this, you’re going to end up with a scar either way, as well as all these other people. Somebody’s going to lose either way.’”
Like the shooter said, you;re damned if you do and damned if you don't. Had he not acted, innocent people might have died at the hands of these jittery teen hoodlums.
Near my dwelling, there's an upscale market claimed by leftist 'elites' as their meeting place. Sort of a mini-broadway.
Me and wife were going out for chinese or kebabs and there was this 'pride party' on the kerbs, the walkways. A guy wearing a silly wig and paint on his face came up to my wife saying 'we love you, Auntie !' trying to embrace her.
She punched him in the groin. A quick backfist to his 'machinery'. But he went 'ooh'. We left the crowd aghast and a girl yelling "Haters !" behind us as I steered my woman away and to home. She told me later it was the "..Auntie !" that did it.
