Trial in Floyd's death expected to turn to ex-cop's training
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The trial of a former Minneapolis police officer in George Floyd’s death is expected to turn toward the officer’s training on Monday after a first week that was dominated by emotional testimony from eyewitnesses and devastating video of Floyd’s arrest.

Derek Chauvin, 45, is charged with murder and manslaughter in the May 25 death of Floyd. Chauvin, who is white, is accused of pinning his knee on the 46-year-old Black man’s neck for 9 minutes, 29 seconds as Floyd lay face-down in handcuffs outside of a corner market.

When a person takes an Oath to Uphold the laws of a State then is forced to stand down for "political" reasons. They are violating their oath.

They should announce a Mass Resignation for a date set 2 to 4 weeks in future. Citing they can no longer standby and observe felony level crimes as ordered. The date allowing Political type CLEARLY more than enough time to address the issues. While Also allowing the Governor and DC to workout National Guard responses and or other meanings of Law Enforcement.

As far as I am concerned there are 2 reasons realistic reasons for leaving the Portland Police:

1. To ensure as a LEO the officer can continue a career in their chosen field of employment, before every US Law Enforcement Agency Blacklistsd any LEO from Portland Oregon.

2. The Politicians are more worried about political agendas and the Out of state Radical Protesters. Than their own citizens eg. De-funding Public Safety resources.

Which means their concerns for Law and Order and the safety of their City Police Officers is even lower than Whale excrement. An that's on the bottom of the Ocean.

Sudanese State Approves Law Criminalizing Racial Discrimination
[ENGLISH.AAWSAT] Sudan’s River Nile State has approved a law criminalizing racial and tribal discrimination, which also bans the formation of racial blocs or groups that leads to strife and instability in the state.

Governor Amana al-Makki issued the temporary decree Saturday, becoming the first to enact a state law in the country.

According to the decree, it is prohibited for any person to commit any act that leads to racial discrimination, incitement to violence, or propagate hatred, racism or racial discrimination by any means.

The law imposes penalties with prison terms not exceeding six months or a fine, or both in case of repeated violation.

The governor was fiercely opposed by the supporters of the former regime for being one of the first two female governors in the northern states of the country.

Researcher Abdullah Adam Khater believes that the constitutional principles and laws were established to address racial discrimination, based on the management of diversity in the country.

Khater indicated that the democratic systems establish equality between all citizens without any discrimination on the basis of color, race, or tribal affiliation.

He pointed out that the governor may have thought that the problem is greater in her state, indicating that she needs to enhance the legal framework against racism and increase citizen awareness through seminars and workshops.

Political analyst Hajj Hamad believes the law issued by the governor of the River Nile State supports the general law in the country and strengthens efforts to combat all kinds of tribal or racial discrimination.

He explained that the River Nile state is considered one of the "male" conservative states, which is why the governor chose to issue a temporary state law that will make a major change in the mentality that discriminates on the basis of gender, color, or race.

Hajj Hamad believes racial discrimination requires a plan from the government to establish the concept that everyone is equal in rights and duties, and diversity is not a source of conflict.

He indicated that any social problem, namely racial discrimination, requires methods that combat hate speech and cannot be combated with the law alone.

The constitutional document governing the transitional period in Sudan stipulates that "rights and duties are based on citizenship without discrimination due to race, religion, culture, sex, color, gender, social or economic status, political opinion, disability, regional affiliation or any other cause."

Libyan MP Calls for Disarming Militias to Ensure Safety of the People of Tawergha
[LIBYAREVIEW] Member of Parliament, Jibril Ouhaida, commented on the visit of the Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity (GNU) , Abdelhamid Dbaiba, to Tawergha on Saturday, and his demand for the return of the Tawerghans. In exclusive statements to the al-Ittihad newspaper, he said explained that if the militias are not disarmed and disbanded, then nothing will guarantee the safety of the people of Tawergha from any infiltrations, attacks and abuses.

He stressed the need for imposing security measures through professional security institutions that are fully subject to state authority.

Syrian mercenaries in Libya are hindering stability in the North African country, despite the ongoing discussions to grant confidence to the GNU, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR).

The SOHR noted that 6,750 Syrian fighters remain in Libya. Since November, the fighters that have been returned to Syria have only been replaced by new groups of mercenaries.

Algerian Authorities Accused of 'Plotting Coup' against Opposition Party
[ENGLISH.AAWSAT] The opposition Algerian Workers' Party accused former party members of "plotting a coup" against secretary-general Louisa Hanoune, saying they were backed by state authorities.

Former politicians and members of the party's central committee, who were expelled by Hanoune for disciplinary reasons, met at a resort west of Algiers to elect a new leader.

They withdrew confidence from Hanoune and chose former leader Mounir Nasri as acting secretary-general, pending the organization of an extraordinary conference to choose new leadership.

Nasri accused Hanoune of several "grave violations", such as dismissing members, saying the attendees wanted to "correct the path of the party".

Hanoune ran twice in presidential elections in 2009 and 2014, and spent nine months in prison last year on charges of "conspiring against the army," but she was acquitted soon after.

Djelloul Djoudi of the Workers' Party told Asharq al-Awsat that the people who carried out the coup had no organizational ties to the party, adding that the Algiers administrative authorities granted them a license to hold a public meeting.

The license confirms that the Ministry of Interior was involved in the coup, and the judicial report of the meeting's agenda also implicates the Justice Ministry, he added.

"The entire government supports this plot," said Djoudi.

He stressed that the incident proves that the ruling system has not changed, in contrast to the slogan of a new Algeria, which has been raised since the presidential elections at the end of 2019.

Djoudi explained that the party is paying the price for refusing to participate in the parliamentary elections, scheduled for June 12.

Hanoune had been subject to two failed attempt
...Curses! Foiled again!...
s to oust her by party members in 2015 and 2019.

Africa and west must unite to halt Mozambique insurgency, experts say
[THEGUARDIAN] The growing Islamist insurgency in north Mozambique can only be halted with a coordinated military and development effort involving African and western countries or it risks spiralling further out of control, experts have warned.

group, which killed dozens and displaced thousands, marks a watershed moment in the escalating four-year conflict.

"This is the first time that foreign nationals have been targeted," Bulama Bukarti, a sub-Saharan terror analyst with the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change, said of the attack on the Hotel Amarula used by contractors working on vast multinational gas projects nearby.

Bukarti also highlighted the relative sophistication of the assault, with tactics to target banks and warehouses — for money and food — derived from other Islamist groups in Africa.

"This is outpacing other insurgencies in Africa; it took Boko Haram
... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
in Nigeria six years to get to where this group has got to in three," Bukarti added. "The situation is getting more and more desperate, and it needs something like a regional intervention from African nations with western logistical support."

The attack on Palma was launched on 24 March by an estimated 100 or so fighters, who seized control of the town, which has a population of roughly 75,000. Reports circulated that beheaded bodies were seen in the streets, while a convoy of foreigners trying to escape was repeatedly ambushed. A Briton was among the dead. Eleven days later, the true corpse count remains unknown, with internet and mobile phone networks disrupted.

The al-Shabaab insurgents emerged in Cabo Delgado province in 2017, a historically neglected Muslim area in a Christian-majority country. Last year, an estimated 1,600 were killed in the region, three times the number in 2019, and in the worst incident 50 villagers were beheaded in a football field.

#5  Colonel (Ret) Li Dyke interview and comments on Palma.

Wiki: The (DAG) firm was founded in 2012 by Lionel Dyck,[1] a Rhodesian ex-military colonel.[2] The company specializes in demining and anti-poaching services, and has customers around the world. They have been very active in Cabo Delgado, Mozambique.[3] They operate and charter out several Bat Hawk light aircraft.[4]

In 2021, Amnesty International reported that during operations in Mozambique, the firm's operatives fired machine guns from helicopters and dropped hand grenades indiscriminately into crowds of people, as well as repeatedly firing at civilian infrastructure, including hospitals, schools, and homes.[5]

In the Battle of Palma, the company assisted the Mozambican military and police forces in combating Islamist terrorists. According to Dyck, his operatives engaged several of the terrorists as well as rescued wounded policemen and trapped civilians.[2][6]

US Shuts Once-Secret Guantanamo Prison Unit
[Epoch Times] A once-secret unit within the Guantanamo Bay detention center that had fallen into disrepair has been closed and the prisoners moved to another facility on the American base in Cuba, the U.S. military said Sunday.
Plumbing, why does it hate us ?
The prisoners at Camp 7 were transferred to a facility adjacent to where the other detainees on the base are held as part of what U.S. Southern Command said in a statement was an effort to "increase operational efficiency and effectiveness."

Among those held at Camp 7 were the five prisoners charged with war crimes for their alleged roles planning and providing logistical support for the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.
And, unexpectedly -
President Joe Biden has said he intends to close Guantanamo, but that would require approval from Congress to move some prisoners to the United States for trial or imprisonment.

US shuts once-secret Guantanamo prison unit, moves prisoners
[AlAhram] A once-secret unit within the Guantanamo Bay detention center that had fallen into disrepair has been closed and the prisoners moved to another facility on the American base in Cuba, the U.S. military said Sunday.

The prisoners at Camp 7 were transferred to a facility adjacent to where the other detainees on the base are held as part of what U.S. Southern Command said in a statement was an effort to ``increase operational efficiency and effectiveness.``
It’s been a while since it was a secret — Camp 7 shows up in the Rantburg archives three times in 2016 alone.
Miami-based Southern Command, which oversees the detention center at the southeastern edge of Cuba, did not say how many prisoners were moved. Officials have previously said about 14 men were held in Camp 7. There are 40 prisoners at Guantanamo.

Southern Command said the Camp 7 prisoners were moved to Camp 5 ``safely and without incident,`` but did not say when the transfer occurred. Camp 5, which was largely empty, is next to Camp 6, where the other detainees are held.

Camp 7 opened in December 2006 for prisoners previously held in a network of clandestine CIA detention facilities, often referred to as ``black sites,'' where they were subjected to brutal interrogation techniques. The military ran it under an agreement with CIA, and Southern Command said intelligence agencies were involved with the transfer.

The military long refused to even acknowledge the location of Camp 7 on the base and has never allowed journalists to see the inside of the facility. Officials had said that unit, which was never designed to be permanent, had structural issues and needed to be replaced, but the Pentagon dropped plans to seek money for the construction.

Among those held at Camp 7 were the five prisoners charged with war crimes for their alleged roles planning and providing logistical support for the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

International-UN-NGOs
Mladenov Calls on Israel to Allow Palestinian Elections to be Held in Jerusalem
It’s sweet that they care. No.
[ENGLISH.AAWSAT] Nickolay Mladenov, former UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, urged Israel to allow Paleostinians to hold legislative elections in Jerusalem.

In a series of tweets on Saturday, Mladenov said Israel should not allow itself to be used as an excuse for those who seek to block elections.

There are ways to ensure that all eligible voters can participate in accordance with the law without disrupting peace and security, he tweeted.

"The international community must be clear that it expects elected Paleostinian officials and any future government to abide by prior agreements and commitments, including Israel’s recognition and renounce violence."

"If elections prove to be impossible, it will be critically important for Paleostinian leaders, with support from Egypt and Jordan, to quickly move and form a true national unity government that brings Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamaswith about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
and the West Bank under a single national authority," Mladenov stressed.

He highlighted the importance of reviving sustainable and just peace through legitimate democratic institutional representation, calling on everyone to do their part "so that if elections take place, they contribute to peace, prosperity and security for Paleostinians and Israel."

"Without an agreed reference framework, past achievements can unravel and the situation on the ground can rapidly deteriorate," he noted.

"All Paleostinian candidates in the election should commit to a negotiated resolution of the conflict, stand against violence and uphold the rule of law."

"All weapons and security forces must be under the control of an internationally recognized and accountable government," he added.

He further pointed out that the Paleostinian leadership must ensure a level playing field for all candidates in the elections.

Authorities should not use the resources they control against their opponents, and the "judiciary and security services must stay above politics."

Meanwhile,
...back at the desert island, Bert climbed the cocoanut tree, looking for ships. He saw none. He looked in the other direction and saw Irene, vigorously scrubbing her backside...
the Paleostinian Authority has been calling for international and European pressure to force Israel to respect agreements and allow Paleostinians in Jerusalem to participate in the elections.

The EU said on Tuesday Israel has not responded to requests to grant visas to its delegation who intend to observe the elections, scheduled for May 22.

#2  And the entire corruption network is revitalzed by Bidet
The abused American taxpayer is literally becoming a 21st century serf. A mockery of the genius of the Founding Fathers and the proof of American Exceptionalism now fading in fhe rear view mirror of social media by our current moronic citizenry who have squandered the legacy of generations through utter ignorance of the gifts passed on to them.

Five city council members sentenced to lashes in Tehran for 'economic crimes'
[IRANNEWSWIRE.ORG] Five members of the Islamic Council in Tehran’s Parand city were sentenced to lashes by the Public and Revolutionary Court of Robat Karim County. They were charged with economic crimes and transferred to the Greater Tehran Penitentiary, according to the state-run Rokna News Agency. "The five people were charged with financial corruption," the Robat Karim Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor, Rahim Alishpour said.

"One of them was sentenced to 18 months of prison, the others were sentenced to five years of prison, as well as fines, lashes and dismissal from governmental service," he added.

The five men were not identified in the report.

The Iranian regime is one of the few states that still uses degrading punishments, even though all international civil and political rights conventions have prohibited the use of inhumane punishments such as execution and flogging.

Flogging is also regularly handed out by the regime to its political opponents including protesters, and dissidents.

In December 2018, an Iranian MP encouraged the use of flogging and execution for "economic offenders".

"If two people are thoroughly flogged and if two people are executed in a timely manner for controlling the market, it will be a lesson for everyone else," Aziz Akbarian said in an interview with the state-run Alborz Radio.

"The law to counter those who disrupt the country’s economic system states that if someone intends to hurt the (ruling) system or has knowledge of such a consequence, their punishment is death," he said.

The Judicial official also said that the Supreme Leader had issued bylaws specifying how the Judiciary was allowed to accelerate the punishment for economic offenses.

Iran Exploiting Economic Crisis to Recruit Syrians to its Militias
[ENGLISH.AAWSAT] A rights group said Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both. They hate Jews Zionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
was exploiting the economic crisis in Syria to entrench itself in areas west of the Euphrates River, Aleppo countryside and areas between the capital, Damascus, and the Lebanese border.

Tehran was seeking to recruit youths to its militias, added the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, revealing that Iranian militias west of the Euphrates now boast some 25,000 members, including some 10,000 Syrians.

World Bank Urges Lebanese Officials to 'Get Their Act Together'
[ENGLISH.AAWSAT] Leb
...an Iranian colony situated on the eastern Mediterranean, conveniently adjacent to Israel. Formerly inhabited by hardy Phoenecian traders, its official language is now Arabic, with the usual unpleasant side effects. The Leb civil war, between 1975 and 1990, lasted a little over 145 years and produced 120,000 fatalities. The average length of a ceasefire was measured in seconds. The Lebs maintain a precarious sectarian balance among Shiites, Sunnis, and about a dozeen flavors of Christians. It is the home of Hezbollah, which periodically starts a war with the Zionist Entity, gets Beirut pounded to rubble, and then declares victory and has a parade. The Lebs have the curious habit of periodically murdering their heads of state or prime ministers...
must be willing to implement some real changes in order to get international funding assistance, according to the World Bank’s Middle East and North Africa vice president.

"Lebanon needs to help itself, so that we can help it," said Ferid Belhaj in an interview with Bloomberg on Friday. "Unfortunately, as of right now, Lebanon has not been interested, willing or able to help itself."

Aid talks with the International Monetary Fund have stagnated after disputes with commercial lenders and the central bank, the country’s largest debt holders. The Lebanese government resigned in the aftermath of a massive explosion in Beirut last August, and has been running the country in a caretaker capacity as efforts to form a new administration have stalled.

The annual inflation rate reached a record high and food prices soared by around 400% in December, highlighting the dramatic impact on consumers and businesses of the country’s worst financial crisis in decades.

"It is a tragedy," Belhaj said. "What we are trying to do in Lebanon is go around the government systems and try to help the people directly, through unconditional cash transfers because when you look at Lebanon today, we are getting to close to 50% poverty."

Last month, Prime Minister-designate Saad Hariri
...Second son of Rafik Hariri, the Leb PM who was assassinated in 2005. He has was prime minister in his own right from 2009 through early 2011. He was born in Riyadh to an Iraqi mother and graduated from Georgetown University. He managed his father's business interests in Riyadh until his father's assassination. When his father died he inherited a fortune of some $4.1 billion, which won't do him much good if Hizbullah has him bumped off, too....
said the likelihood of forming a new government is looking more attainable and that there was an opportunity for a breakthrough, but there has been little hope to rectify the path of an economy that’s been battered by a raft of measures to control a spike of coronavirus (aka COVID19 or Chinese Plague)
...the twenty first century equivalent of bubonic plague, only instead of killing off a third of the population of Europe it kills 3.4 percent of those who notice they have it. It seems to be fond of the elderly, especially Iranian politicians and holy men...
cases.

For the international lender, this is "a call for all Lebanese decision makers to really get their act together, from the central bank governor, to the president to the prime minister and everybody in between," Belhaj said. As of right now, "I don’t see any glimmer of hope."
