#6 I believe Obama will say it. He'll say something like, "Hey, hold off. We're lining things up, and almost ready to go."
He'll say anything to keep his friends in Iran on-track for nuclear weapons.

#7 And what exactly is a raid supposed to accomplish? At most it will simply delay things but it might not even do that. Iran is a country about the size of Alaska and as rugged as Wyoming. The only strike that could be effective would be one aimed at regime change. This would mean not just taking out the current Supreme Leader but removing that entire "Islamic Republic" form of government from Iran. Tall order.

#8 Water Modem: I don't think the carriers in the Gulf are _doing_ anything really super productive at the moment. I think Steve's pointed this out too.

Delay works fine for Israel's purposes, Cholet Angereting3428. Things move fast in the Middle East, and attention perforce follows events. For some reason Saddam Hussein never did get Iraq's nuclear program back on track after Osirak was destroyed, nor did Bashar al Assad after after Syria's North Korea-built facility was destroyed in 2007. If Iran's facilities are damaged, and Syria falls, Iran is going to have serious concerns about dealing with Hizb'allah, and Gulf Arab money is going to flow toward Iran's unhappy Sunni subjects.

#10 #7 is dead-on - any air strike agz Iran's NucProgs is moot unless backed up by ground campaign, i.e. de facto invasion + occupation, + in any case will result in Iran ordering retaliatory military andor terror strikes agz US-Allied international targets, potens even widin CONUS.
The only rationale the USA = POTUS Bammer has is fear of SHIA = Iran-led Nuctech proliferation into the hands of predomin SUNNI Radical Islamist MilTerr Groups + aligned. THE BAMMER HAS TO PROVE THAT SHIA IRAN IS ARMING SUNNI MILTERR GROUPS WID NUKE-WMD TECHS, DEVICES?DESPITE THEIR WELL-KNOWN, HISTORICAL + COMTEMPORARY INTER-MUSLIM RIVALRY.
Nuke-, Caliphate-wannabe Iran is making D **** SURE THE US HAS NOTHING SAVE HIGHLY SUBJECTIVE OR DUBIOUS = SUPERFICIAL REASONS TO MAKE WAR AGZ IT. In a worst-case scenario invol the US, Shia Iran wants make sure its Sunni rivals are on its side ASAP AMAP ALAP, not on the side of the US-Allied.
The Chinese are back at Gwadar - all Iran needs is a potent Russian naval squadron or task force
on one or more of its Gulf seaports, e.g. Chandahar.
LASTLY, IFF THE US IS ATTACKING IRAN, IT S NOT GOING TO BE FIGHTING CHINA OVER IN NE ASIA + SCS DUE TO "SEQUESTRATION"-LED US-SPECIFIC CUTBACKS + OTHER.

#11 If intentionally done wrong - hitting their bio-warfare ICBMs could make life interesting for Iran.
