With Big Government Comes Little Accountability
Posted by: DarthVader || 08/20/2015 11:10 || Comments || Link || [2 views] Top|| File under:

#1  By design. If the government is big enough, it doesn't have to care what its people think about it. They can't do anything to change it and become subjects.
Posted by: DarthVader || 08/20/2015 11:12 Comments || Top||

#2  The aristocracy and monarchy usually had no 'accountability' either. As Charles I of England and Louis XVI of France found out, there is a cure.

Part of the problem was doing away with another problem. Back in the ugly old days of patronage, you could at least hold the representative and Senator personally responsible for the acts or inaction of their appointees.

The Real Winner Of Obama's '€˜War On Coal': George Soros
[Daily Caller] The real winner of President Barack Obama's so-called "war on coal" isn't the EPA, nor is it the natural gas industry. It's liberal billionaire George Soros.

Last week, Obama's EPA announced sweeping regulations for U.S. power plants, forcing them to drastically reduce carbon dioxide emissions 32 percent by 2030. The news sent shockwaves through the coal industry, sending stocks tumbling and forcing the industry's two biggest players to consider bankruptcy filings.

That's where liberal billionaire Soros steps in. In the days after the Clean Power Plan was announced, Soros bought more than 1 million shares of Peabody Energy and 553,200 shares of Arch Coal -- the country's two biggest publicly-traded coal companies.

Both Peabody and Arch Coal "have seen their market values plummet" due to "competition from cheap natural gas, new environmental regulations and a slowing export market," according to SNL Financial. Soros was able to pick up these coal stocks on the cheap, in part, due to Obama administration regulations targeting coal-fired power plants and coal mines.

Soros, the 29th richest person in the world, has been a major funder of liberal causes in the country. In 2009, he pledged to spend $1 billion of his own money backing green energy, and he also put funding behind the Climate Policy Initiative think tank, according to The Guardian.

Most importantly, however, is that Soros has been a major financial backer of Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton through his super PAC Priorities USA Action. The financial ties between Soros and Democrats has some right-leaning commenters speculating about what all this means.

"I posited that once the existing coal industry ownership was wiped out by President Obama's regulatory onslaught, a new politically correct ownership would rehabilitate the fuel by contributing to Democrats," wrote Steve Milloy, an energy expert who runs the blog JunkScience.com.

It's true that Soros' coal buy only represented a small portion of his personal wealth and of each company's available stocks. This could mean that Soros is looking to make some quick cash off a rebound in global coal prices as international demand for the fuel grows. But Milloy thinks that's unlikely.

"It's possible that Soros is only looking for a 'dead cat bounce' from his Peabody and Arch Coal investments, but the companies together have provable coal reserves of about 11 billion tons, worth hundreds of billions of dollars," Milloy added. "I doubt the shrewd Soros is looking to make just a few million dollars on these investments."
Every time I hear the Fed talking about raising interest rates, I think "dead cat bounce." It's all just a bit too cyclic and predictable.

#2  That's where liberal billionaire Soros steps in.

Liberal? That is way far understated. The guy can ferret out a buck no matter how deep you bury it. Soros knows coal is not going to be replaced by "green energy" (wind, solar). He will sell it to the Chicoms if the U.S. gets too prohibitive.

#3  Soros is not a liberal, he is a leftist. There is a big difference.

#4  Due to decommissioning nuke plants after Fukashima, the big export destination for US coal is (are you ready for this) Europe. The EU is actually claiming to be cleaning up it's coal emissions by using American coal, as opposed to the crap the Germans dig up.
This of course gives Soros a throttlehold on European electric prices. And winter's coming.

They are willing to give up the war on women in exchange for an old white man just to get rid of her.

#10  This idea is being shot down in the media real fast. Reminds me of the Birth Certificate effort being squashed. Talk show call in asked a constitutional question. He was discarded in mere seconds. His question was could Biden be elected president with Obama as his Vice President. Then in a month or two Biden steps down. The talk show host didn't have an answer for him.

#12  Does Obama want to fade off as second chair to Hildabeast or Slow Joe? Wouldn't it be best for him to have a evil Republican in the WH so that he would be the agitator in chief? Which scenario offers the most opportunities for graft and cronyism? Has the guy ever, ever, ever done anything that didn't benefit him first?

#13  I believe "The Server" was compromised almost immediately after it began whirring. China, Russia and who knows who else, has been reading Ms. Clinton's e-mails for some time, and more than a few of them were derogatory towards Mr. Obama. An official from China, Russia, or who knows who else, let some of the e-mails slip to Mr. Obama, who was not, er, pleased. This would explain the Water Torture that Ms. Clinton now finds herself and the seeming unwillingness of Mr. Obama to stop the investigations. See also the photos showing a tortured William Clinton at the golf course this weekend past.

Also, substitute "Jarret" for "Obama," and the above still works.

Lack of clarity

..Pak chief of army staff, meaning he pulls the strings on the Nawaz Sharif puppet to make it dance and sing and not do much at all....

Learning reform
[DAWN] THERE are increasing calls to change the curriculum taught at madressahs across the country to include English, mathematics and the sciences. My own research, as well as that of others, on madressah education shows that the present curriculum is indeed problematic and may not even satisfy the limited aim of preparing scholars and teachers of Islam.

The current madressah curriculum and the psychology of its teaching have played a major role in creating an environment that encourages hostile or negative attitudes between different sects of Islamic thought and those who are secular in thinking.

Mathematics and the sciences draw on inductive logic and thinking, which analyses lots of evidence and seeks a way forward that can make rules to explain what is observed or known.
Even when the djinn must be allowed for?
These rules are then applied by deductive logic to make decisions on what to do, on the path to follow. These subjects are best taught by getting students to pass through the two stages of logic: that is why practical experiments, demonstrations and concrete models are employed. The consequence of using deductive logic alone is almost always learning by rote, which means learning without meaning.

Does this sound familiar?

Madressah teachers and students do not go through the inductive thinking stage and move immediately to the deductive rules of the Koran. This means madressah students are not required to think for themselves, and their schooling means there is no place for creativity. Madressahs represent orthodoxy and teach with an unscientific curriculum. I collected several madressah students' opinions regarding the system of education they are experiencing, and their opinions on the teaching of science and mathematics. Some students showed great interest in these subjects. They reported that there was a lack of science education in their institutions; many complained that they were not taught science in any meaningful depth, and that experiments could not be conducted due to the lack of funding.

Unsubstantiated report on Ranger School, mountain phase.
SOURCE RELIABILITY - RELIABLE
Sent: Sun, Aug 9, 2015 11:03 pm
Subject: Re: usma1969-forum: 10 Days to Graduation

BOTL Buddies - - I have a friend, a retired XXXX Battalion Commander, who lives in Dahlonega near the Mountain Ranger Camp. I questioned him about what he knew or what his contacts knew about the successes of the ladies who are now in the Florida Phase of the Ranger Course.

Below is the response I received from him.

And for those of you who think I am a recalcitrant curmudgeon who hates women in the military, let me set you straight: I have no problem with women going to Ranger School and being awarded the Tab as long as the standards are not changed to allow them to pass when a male student would not pass if he performed identically.

In fact, I, and I suspect all other Rangers, would hold in high regard any lady who could actually meet the Ranger Course's exacting and difficult challenges.

XXXX,
I am in very close contact with the Ranger Camp. The comments below from a Mountain Ranger Course Cadre [Ranger School instructor/grader] are pretty much what has happened.
Bob

When the administration wants something to succeed, they will do anything at all to make it succeed. For those of you who went to Ranger school, I will assume that you did not have a general officer as a lane grader (called a walker these days I guess) [the officer who observe you when you lead a patrol and grades you on whether you passed or failed]. When you are social engineering, you make things work regardless of the standards or the consequences because it's the engineering that's important.

Here's the breakdown:

Army wanted 200 of the most badass women from the army, guard and reserves to start ranger school in April. The deal was they had to pass RTAC to get a slot.

138 women attended several RTAC classes and 20 passed

The 20 women were put in their own unit to train exclusively for Ranger school in the months preceding their start date. 1 quit before school started.

19 women started Ranger School in April.

11 failed in the first 3 days: pt test, land nav and road March

All 8 failed patrols and were inserted into Darby the following class.

All 8 failed patrols again. 5 were sent home and 3 were offered day 1 recycles.

Nearing the end of their third attempt at Darby, all three had 2 failed patrols, and General Scott Miller (movement excellence commander of Ft Benning) showed up to be their guest walker. [As far as I know, no officer above the rank of colonel was ever a walker or lane grader. When I went to Ranger School, I believe the graders were all either NCOs or captains or majors. I do not even believe that any officer associated with the school was a general including the commandant of the ranger school. I think he was a LTC or Col.] All three passed.

All three advanced to Mountains

Nearing the end of the patrol phase of mountains all three women had 2 failed patrols and guess who showed up again to be their guest RI [?] walker..... 2 of the three passed, and one has been recycled.

Some of the guys I work with here remember Miller from XXXXX XXXXX. I'm sure that's not what's being reported, but when we first heard a general had walked them, three of them chimed in with "Scotty Miller" in unison.

They will pass, and probably be honor grads. "

Sounds like command interference to me...[plain old dishonesty to me if they did not earn passing grades]

Does not surprise me. The General's Boss most likely told him (Miller) if you want to make three stars, there will be female Ranger graduates! So he Santa Claused them so they would pass. Sad times. This PC BS will be the end of us, if it hasn't already sealed our fate!

#1  Wish I could say this surprised me.

The armed forces were one of the few institutions in this country that still functioned, so they have to be corrupted as well.

Perhaps we should institute the draft for SJWs.

The 1st Hipster Brigade ("The Neckbearded Knights") is sure to devastate the Russians and Chinese with their lethal memeing skills.

And just imagine what the 51st Neon Haired Harpies ("The Fightin' Fatties") will do with their Tinder DTF profiles if the Iranians act up.

And can you picture Ezra Klein bringing the Norks down with a devastating "Here's why that's a problem"?

Hey, it's their America now. Let them defend it.

#5  Part of the "everyone gets a trophy" PC movement and a part of the womyn's movement push. Also a part of the Donk "hustle women's votes" movement for the upcoming election.

The true test is whether these women can perform in combat.

#6  This could end up like the case of Kara Hultgreen, the first female F-14 pilot. She died when trying to land on her carrier. There were rumors that she had been pushed through flight training, despite down-checks that would have disqualified a male student.

#7  The true test is whether these women can perform in combat

They'll never see it. They'll be paraded domestically for the 'recruitment' effort. Probably the yearly re-qualification requirements will be nixed somehow, too.

#10  I'm curious to know what the candidates weight was before Darby and after graduation. Personally, I could see an extremely hard bitch making it through Darby and no further. When the sleep dep kicks in during mountain phase stick a fork in them. I'm sure the RI's were told to leave the LOM's in the rear.
