#4 The Russians are systematically cutting off the remaining Ukrainian battalions in Luhansk, Donetsk and in the South. They are being very deliberate and carefully coordinating artillery, infantry, engineers, intel / recon and drones.

They are advancing on Mykolaiv, the gateway to Odesa. US military planners expect Odesa to fall by the end of June.

They are finalizing the cauldron in the North, at Severodonetsk and Lysychansk. US and other NATO military experts expect that cauldron to be complete by end of next week. They're also pushing north up the Dniepr, and threatening to encircle and cut off the Ukrainians near Zaporizhzhiye.

The Ukrainians can probably hold out for two more months at most, after which Russia will be in complete control of the entire southern Black Sea coast from Odesa to the Azov Sea.

#6 Ukraine's Commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces Valerii Zaluzhnyi now has authority to order a retest of the 15,000 or so Ukrainian troops who are on the brink of being encircled near Lysychansk.

Previous to May 25, per Ukrainian law only the Supreme Commander i.e. Zelensky could order Ukrainian forces to retreat, but the Z-man overrode that law -- he has outlawed all opposition, remember, and is effectively now Ukraine's generalissimo -- and gave his #2 the authority to order a retreat after 48 hours.

That time has passed as of 18:40 Washington time. Let's see whether the 15,000 Ukrainian elite forces are ordered to retreat this evening.

If not then we will see an enormous victory next week, even bigger and more consequential than Mariupol.

#9 Well, there is one potential remaining escape route available, the road west to Siversk, but that's nonetheless under "fire control" now. Russian artillery is only 5 miles away, so they can pound and degrade the retreating Ukrainian forces. But every other route (including roads and the rail route) is now cut off after today's fighting. Watch that Siversk corridor tonight (tomorrow Ikraine time).

We can only hope that Zelensky's panic leads him to agree to cut his losses and accept territorial concessions at the peace table.

Given Poland's aggressive designs on western Ukraine, it could be that Z-man gets safe passage to Warsaw and a new rump government gets established in a new rump republic covering what remains in Galicia / Western Ukraine.
