#3 They'll be back to the table. They can increase output maybe 20%, but prices will fall 60%. These devastating price decreases are precisely why OPEC formed in the first place. Of course mere desire doesn't keep cartels alive. What enabled OPEC to survive? The small number of big producers - a few dozen in total, at best. And the fact that once used as fuel, oil byproducts can't be recycled.
