#1 Hmm...no its no longer a republic. When you have one whole branch of government sit for life and unaccountable to the people which has constantly assumed more and more power and purview over the daily experience of normal Americans while ignoring the written text of the Constitution, it can not be a republic. Well, other than 'Peoples Democratic Republic of...'.
