#2 You weren't really infantry without an M-1 thumb.

I qualified the first time on an M-1.

#3 I thought a Garand was a 30.06 caliber, the M1 carbine is 30 caliber.

#5 Got a Springfield Armory M1A 7.62 Nato scout rifle with Checkmate Industries box magazines for it. With a red dot receiver mounted reticule, it works great with fast target acquisition.

#6 Is that the one that makes the "pling!" noise when you run out of the clip?

#8 I don't believe all the blather about the "ping". I've shot the M! and heard the ping but I can't believe that with the noise of battle someone 100 ft away could hear it and know you were out of ammo. Heck 30 caliber fire is loud.

#9 I've read that the only guys who worried about the "Ping" were scout/snipers who would occasionally have to engage one or two Japanese . Then they bounce a spare enbloc off their helmet or a something hard to get a ping to trick the Japanese. Of course this was on the Internet so who knows?
