of the Taliban ...Arabic for students... group and his five security guards were killed during the dronezaps conducted in northeastern Kapisa province of Afghanistan.
The 201st Silab Corps of the Afghan Military in the East said the Arclight airstrikes were carried out in the vicinity of Nejrab district on Tuesday.
According to a statement released by Silab Corps, the US forces conducted airstrikes using unmanned aerial vehicles in Pechghan Valley of the district, leaving at least six turbans dead, including a commander of the Red Unit of the group.
The statement further added that the airstrikes were carried out as the Taliban Red Unit commander and his security guards were travelling in a vehicle.
The vehicle of the Talibs was destroyed in the airstrike and the local residents did not suffer any casualty, the statement added.
The anti-government armed holy warrior groups including Talibs have not commented regarding the report so far.
Kapisa is among the relatively calm provinces in Northeastern parts of the country but the security situation of the province has started to deteriorate recently amid ongoing efforts by the turbans to expand their insurgency.
[KhaamaPress] The Afghan commandos have destroyed a large cache of potent explosives belonging to the Taliban ...Arabic for students... group in southern Uruzgan province of Afghanistan.
The NATO ...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A cautionary tale of cost-benefit analysis.... Special Operations Component Command in a report said the commandos from the 3rd Special Operations Kandak, advised by U.S. Special Operations Forces, conducted numerous missions over the course of a four-day Afghan-led operation targeting Taliban compounds suspected of concealing large amounts of homemade explosives in Tarin Kot district, Uruzgan province, July 25-29.
The report further added that during the operations in Tarin Kot, 10,100 pounds of homemade explosives and another 1,400 pounds of C-4, a plastic explosive, were destroyed. Commandos clearing the compounds found over 20 82 mm mortars, 50 RPG rounds, over 6,000 rounds of armor-piercing .50 caliber ammunition, two bunker systems and 50 rocket fuses.
"The destruction of this dangerous stockpile of explosives reduces the risk to Afghan civilians who have consistently been injured or killed through attacks made by the Taliban," said U.S. Army Brig. Gen. Jeffrey Smiley, Train, Advise and Assist-South commander. "The large amount of explosives and munitions leaves no doubt that irreconcilable Taliban continue to plan and prepare for more attacks."
The large cache, which was located next to the homes of Afghan families, were destroyed through a series of strikes and on the ground controlled detonations, the report said.
"Because of the high danger presented by the types and quantities of weapons, it was necessary to carefully plan controlled detonations," said Smiley. "I find it inconceivable that the Taliban would store weapons this dangerous next to family homes."
I expect the locals will swear on their children's lives, that nobody snitched on the stockpile, when the Taliban come calling. But I can believe the locals called government troops to deal with the explosive hazard deposited by the Talibs near their homes.

They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems.... of Iraq and Syria Khurasan (ISIS-K) Mawlavi Habib Ur Rehman surrendered to the Afghan forces together with his 152 miliants.
The 209th Shaheen Corps of the Afghan Military in the North said the ISIS leader and his fighters have surrendered in Jawzjan province.
A statement by Shaheen Corps said the gunnies surrendered to Afghan forces late on Tuesday night.
The statement further added that Mawlavi Rehman and his gunnies also handed over their weapons and some other military kits t the Afghan forces.
The anti-government armed turban groups including ISIS loyalists have not commented regarding the report so far.
Jawzjan has been among the relatively calm provinces in North of Afghanistan but the security situation of the province has tanked during the recent years.
Both the Taliban ...the Pashtun equivalent of men... and ISIS loyalists operate in some districts of the province and often carry out terrorist related activities.
This comes as sporadic festivities are underway between the Taliban and ISIS gunnies in some parts of Jawzjan province.
[AlAhram] More than 150 Islamic State fighters surrendered to Afghan security forces in the northwestern province of Jawzjan after they were defeated and driven out by the Taliban, Taliban and government officials said on Wednesday.
The defeat represents a major setback for the group, which first appeared in eastern Afghanistan around four years ago and which had gained a foothold in southern Jawzjan, where it fought for control of smuggling routes into neighbouring Turkmenistan.
"The evil phenomenon of Daesh has completely been eliminated and people have been freed from its tortures in Jawzjan province of Afghanistan," Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said in a statement, using an Arabic term for the group.
The Taliban launched an offensive several weeks ago in Jawzjan against the group, which they oppose as much as they do the Western-backed government in Kabul and which has established an unmatched reputation for brutality.
Last month, General John Nicholson, the top U.S. commander in Afghanistan, welcomed the fact that the Taliban were fighting Islamic State, which he said had to be destroyed.
U.S. forces have launched air strikes against Islamic State fighters in Jawzjan in recent months, but the Taliban has rejected any suggestion of cooperation and accused the United States of trying to obstruct them.
The fighting prompted thousands of people to flee to the provincial capital of Sheberghan, where many gave shocking accounts of the brutality of Islamic State fighters and commanders in Darzab and Qush Tepa, the two districts they controlled before being driven out.
Mujahid said more than 150 Islamic State fighters had been killed and more than 130 captured by the Taliban with the rest surrendering to government forces rather than the Taliban.
Afghan government officials said 152 fighters from the Islamic State strongholds of Darzab and Qush Tepa surrendered to security forces in the early hours of the morning.
Mawlawi Habiburrahman, commander of Islamic State forces in the north, and another commander called Mufti Nematullah were among those who surrendered, they said.
Bands of Islamic State fighters have been increasingly active in northern Afghanistan in recent years, fighting the Taliban for control of resources and sparking alarm in neighbouring nations.
Government officials said the group's defeat in Jawzjan would ease concerns about its potential to expand and support militant activity outside Afghanistan.
"The worries of neighbouring countries, and the presence of Daesh groups on their borders, have now been removed," said Mohammad Reza Ghafouri, a spokesman for the provincial governor.

Speaking to Alforat News, the source said that security forces “have been deployed in the district to ensure the curfew is applied and to prevent any clashes between tribesmen again.”
Fierce clashes erupted earlier in the day in al-Dujail district, northeast of Salahuddin, after three chieftains were found dead in al-Taji area.

Several tribes had staged rallies and blocked roads in Salahuddin, demanding the capture of the killers and bringing them to trial as soon as possible.

[YNet] In early morning strike, IAF attacks terrorists in the Syrian side of the Golan Heights 'preventing grave incident'; explosives and Kalashnikov rifles found in the area after the strike; Lieberman earlier: 'There is a clear address' to incidents on Syrian border now.
An Israeli Air Force aircraft attacked a group of armed terrorists in the Syrian southern Golan Heights early Thursday, killing seven armed terrorists and preventing a "grave incident", Israel Radio said on Thursday without citing sources.
The Israeli military confirmed carrying out an air strike overnight, saying it had targeted "several armed terror operatives in the southern Syrian Golan Heights" overnight.
The incident reportedly occurred around 10:30 PM, when the terrorists were located around 200 meters from the border fence, just north of the border triangle with Jordan.
In the morning, the Nahal Brigade forces searched the area and found the terrorists' bodies belonging to the ISIS-linked group known as the Yarmouk Martyrs Brigade.
According to the IDF Spokesperson`s Unit said that after the strike, "explosive belts and an AK-47 assault rifle were found in the area" have also been found.
The incident occurred near the area still controlled by an ISIS-linked group. The group has about 300 fighters and is the only one in the Syrian Golan that has not yet surrendered to the Assad army, which has already taken control of most of the Golan Heights along the border with Israel.
It is probable that the group was behind last week's rocket attack, when two missiles landed in the Kinneret area, in order to force Israel to retaliate and strike Syrian military. However, the ISIS-linked group is on the verge of surrendering to the Syrian military.
The IDF is now investigating whether the group planned a bloody ground attack in the Israeli territory in order to drag the IDF into the civil war in Syria.

According to initial reports, a van was intercepted at an army checkpoint manned by government faceless myrmidons in Bulanting village in Lamitan City.
"A driver of a 10-seater van who looked like a foreigner and could not speak the local dialect was intercepted at Bulanting checkpoint," Lamitan City Mayor Roderick Furigay said as quoted by Inquirer News.
Furigay said the driver was held by government faceless myrmidons for further questioning while other members sought military backup when the vehicle suddenly went kaboom!.
Aside from the suspected bomber, five government militiamen, a military detachment commander, three women and a child were also killed.
Five scout rangers, including a young lieutenant, were also left critically maimed.
An investigation of the incident remains underway; the military suspects that while ISIS usually claims such attacks, this particular one was carried out by the ISIS-linked Abu Sayyaf ...also known as al-Harakat al-Islamiyya, an Islamist terror group based in Jolo, Basilan and Zamboanga. The Syrian regime did not comment on the ISIS attack, while a number of pro-regime media outlets stated that the attack was in fact an attempt to sneak into the airbase, but was foiled by the security forces.
