a very good point. if you want to get into the legal aspects of it. Here is the kicker... the Israelis know that no one will come forward and claim the corpse. To assume that the IDF is just sayint this to "wash their hands" of any Geneva Convention agreements is way off. The reason they are saying this is because these terrorist groups have held the remains (ergo, dead) of IDF soldiers as bartering chips.

Is it IO? Sure. Everything is IO if spun in the right direction. The real question should be were they desecrated? Highly doubtful. The IDF, like most Western countries, does not desecrate corpse. Enlightened reasoning says that it serves no purpose.

Islamic groups (insert all freakish fanatics here) see desecration as a means to finally intimidate their foe.

A point to remember; Islam has never had an age of enlightenment like the "west" has. That is why they are fighting so hard to resist the entry to the modern world.

So what do you do with the bodies? Dig a mass grave and be done with it. Here is a kick in the ass, if American Soldiers have to dig a grave for a muslim enemy, we point them toward the big, shiny rock. Political correctness is going to kill our military.

#12 Here is another Geneva Convention fun fact!

If the force in possesion of the enemy bodies considers it a "health hazard" that no one has claimed them, they can be torched.

So for hygiene sake, torch them.... and throw some ribs and bacon on to make sure the fire ignites.

Nothing in the Geneva Convention about that.

Is it the Sikhs that consider that the only respectful way to handle the dead? Returning the bodies to the circle of life and all? I remember there being an issue because apparently these days there are more bodies but significantly fewer buzzards to take care of them...
