#1 The only trouble I can see with this would be both militant Arabs and Afghans screeching that Khalilzad is "a traitor to his own kind!", then making a special effort to whack him on the grounds that a "traitor" is worse than an infidel.

We'd best keep a close eye, and a closer bodyguard on Zalmay, or they WILL whack him.
