#1 It's 2020 an election year. DoD usually sends out, like it has done for many years (50+), the directive that all partisan political displays are forbidden. The usual one exception is bumper sticker/snickers on privately owned vehicles.

#2 DoD frowns upon political stuff in general. I remember many memos about not putting political stuff on the desk, no matter who was running. Especially when a politician who can hold the purse strings for your project comes to visit.
