[The Atlantic] How could democrats win a statewide election that they had seemingly conceded—that they had tried in vain to prevent from even taking place?
That was the question in Wisconsin this morning, after the party celebrated the unlikely ouster of a conservative justice in a crucial race for a seat on the state’s highest court. With former Vice President Joe Biden now the presumptive Democratic nominee, following Senator Bernie Sanders’s withdrawal from the presidential race, the results of the party primary had become moot. The far more consequential race was the judicial election, and Judge Jill Karofsky’s defeat of incumbent Justice Daniel Kelly gave Democrats an important victory—delayed by nearly a week as a deluge of absentee ballots were counted—in what was essentially a trial run for the November election in the closely divided swing state.
But the bigger mystery was how it had happened at all.
[Martin Armstrong] There is no doubt that Americans have been getting a civics lesson as they turn to Washington for answers to the coronavirus crisis, but discover that their state governors have assumed far more control over what goes on in their daily lives than the constitution allows. It has been State and local authorities making decisions about shutting down businesses and allocating medical equipment to hospitals — not the President. They have merely listened to Bill Gates and the compromised Anthony Fauci whose recommendations are illegal.
This is what the "United States" meant that there was a separation of powers between federal and state. This is the system the founding fathers designed, though it seems anachronistic to many while people like Fauci have been the stooge for Bill Gates claiming this is a deadly disease that warrants we be locked-down as prisoners in our own homes without any legal authority under the Constitution....
My interpretation of this is simple. It is unconstitutional for any state to block interstate commerce. Consequently, the President has the executive power to issue a binding order to open up commerce and the states cannot legally resist that order for keeping the economy locked-down violates the Commerce Clause. Over the years, the meaning of the word "commerce" has been a source of controversy. The Constitution did not explicitly define the word. That has led to legal arguments back and forth....
CONCLUSION
Therefore, relying on these decisions, the attempt by the states to lock-down the economy is UNCONSTITUTIONAL and the President has the power even under National Security to reopen the economy since it has been illegally shut down at the request of Bill Gates and his surrogate Anthony Fauci. This is dealing DIRECTLY with interstate commerce which is no different than protectionism that each state could then impose tariffs on imports from another state, which was the clear intention of the Founding Fathers to prohibit.
[FOX] A Chinese laboratory at the center of new theories about how the coronavirus pandemic started was the subject of multiple urgent warnings inside the U.S. State Department two years ago, according to a new report.
U.S. Embassy officials warned in January 2018 about inadequate safety at the Wuhan Institute of Virology lab and passed on information about scientists conducting risky research on coronavirus from bats, The Washington Post reported Tuesday.
Those cables have renewed speculation inside the U.S. government about whether Wuhan-based labs were the source of the novel coronavirus, although no firm connection has been established. The theory, however, has gained traction in recent days.
The United Kingdom has said that the idea that the virus, which has turned into a full-blown global pandemic, was leaked from a Wuhan lab is "no longer being discounted."
A member of the U.K. government's emergency committee of senior officials claimed Sunday: "There is a credible alternative view (to the zoonotic theory) based on the nature of the virus. Perhaps it is no coincidence that there is a laboratory in Wuhan."
Foreign affairs expert Gordon Chang said in a recent opinion piece on Fox News that "many Chinese believe the virus either was deliberately released or accidentally escaped from the Wuhan Institute of Virology, a P4-level bio-safety facility."
He added: "This lab, known for studying coronaviruses, is not far from the market that had been initially identified as the source of the outbreak."
In a series of diplomatic cables labeled "Sensitive But Unclassified," U.S. Embassy officials warned that the lab had massive management weaknesses, posed severe health risks and warned Washington to get involved.

Anyone else snort about the poetry bit?
The items were sent in boxes displaying the words of 13th century Sufi Poet Jalaluddin Rumi: 'There is hope after despair and many suns after darkness.'
Says the article. I think Rumi is getting pumped about the establishing of the Ottoman Caliphate.
This time period also encompasses the Persian Muslims getting whallopped by the Mongols, more so than everyone else getting rolled by the Mongols at this time except what we now know as Russia.
[Renew America] While the democrat-Communist party was keeping us all distracted by such things as that idiotic 'impeachment' charade against the best president in modern history, a Bible Prophecy was quietly fulfilled that no one expected. The Book of Revelation tells us of a leader who will come quietly on the scene to totally control the population by using a "Mark of the Beast" device to accomplish this.
This means a required 'quantum dot tattoo microchip' to be put in the bodies of every human being, by vaccination, like tagging cattle. That chip will have every bit of information about the individual's life, including bank accounts and medical issues. Without this chip one cannot buy, sell or conduct any kind of business. Plus that chip acts as your ID. The government controls what you are allowed to do and what you are NOT allowed to do, based on your 'vaccination' status. If you do not comply with this, you will become a non-person and unable to make a living or even survive. You will be under complete control of the 'government' that will tell you what you can and cannot do.'
And who is the garu behind this? The very wealthy eugenicist Bill Gates, yes Bill Gates, who first really came on the scene in October 2019 where he conducted his Event 201 Forum, which featured discussions about, now get this, "a hypothetical coronavirus pandemic and how to handle this. Now hold on. Was this a spectacular prophecy given Bill Gates, or was this PLANNED? It was clear that this was all to happen, along with their 'solutions' waiting in the wings for a grand unveiling.
The Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security in partnership with the World Economic Forum and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation hosted Event 201, a high-level pandemic exercise on October 18, 2019, in New York, NY. The exercise illustrated areas where public/private partnerships will be necessary during the response to a severe pandemic in order to diminish large-scale economic and societal consequences.

One disturbing aspect of the pandemic is some people now look upon cash as a source of infection. Plastic only, please, with that little chip embedded in it. If you can't buy anything with cash then a major part of the plan has already been accomplished.

[Fox News] The World Health Organization is under fire after Taiwan released the contents of a December email inquiring about the person-to-person spread of COVID-19, which it says was ignored by the organization and further denied to provide adequate information about how to fight the virus.
Taiwan is accusing the WHO of downplaying the severity and spread of the coronavirus in an attempt to pander to China, even after Taiwan sounded the alarm about at least seven cases of atypical pneumonia that they were aware of in Wuhan, where the virus originated.
The WHO denied that Taiwan ever alerted them to the potential person-to-person spread of the virus, but Taiwan's CDC said that because they specifically mentioned "atypical pneumonia" — reminiscent of SARS, which is transmitted via human contact — "public health professionals could discern from this wording that there was a real possibility of human-to-human transmission of the disease," they said in a press release. Who cares? (Ironic pun intended) WHO doesn't even recognize Taiwan, being part of China, doncha know.

[NR] - ... For the last thirty years, the vast majority of powerful institutions in the United States placed a gargantuan bet on the idea that the government in Beijing could be a reliable partner in prosperity and would be a responsible actor on the world stage. Many leading politicians in both parties chose to believe this, many foreign-policy wonks chose to believe this, many academics and university administrators chose to believe this, and obviously, corporate America loved the idea of both using Chinese labor for imported goods and receiving access to the Chinese market. This includes Comcast, Disney, Viacom, AT&T, and Fox Corporation — the parent companies of NBC News, ABC News, CBS News, CNN, and Fox News, among other large multinationals that own major U.S. news organizations. So, how was the mess of pottage?
...The problem was, the Chinese government was never the stabilizing, reasonable force for order that these Americans wanted to believe it was. We saw the regime’s true nature over three decades of brutal human-rights abuses and censorship and shameless lies to cover that brutality.
When the Chinese government initially declared this new virus could not be spread from person to person, and that the situation in Wuhan was under control, very few people wanted to stand up and say they couldn’t be trusted. We had just seen the Chinese government try to blow up the business plans of the National Basketball Association over a single general manager’s tweet. If you cross the Chinese government, you take your livelihood in your hands, if not your life. On March 4, the state-run Xinhua News Agency declared, "If China retaliates against the United States at this time, in addition to announcing a travel ban on the United States, it also announces the strategic control of medical products and the ban on export to the United States, then the United States will be caught in the sea of new coronavirus." Every day, the leaders of China tell us and show us exactly who they are and how they see the world. They are perfectly content to watch us die painful deaths if this means greater leverage and power for themselves.
...It’s easy to see the appeal of the theory out there, contending that the coronavirus came to America earlier than the medical community thinks, that a lot of us suffered anything from "a bad flu" to a "weird flu" in December (or even November) and that a lot of us are walking around having already beaten the virus. It is reassuring, even confidence-building, to think that many of us are already full of antibodies that can terminate SARS-CoV-2, and that we’re a lot closer to herd immunity than the medical community thinks.
I wish this were true. But there are three big pieces of counterevidence, indicating this theory is not true.
The first counterevidence is strain testing.
Nextstrain is an open-source project publishing and analyzing the genomic data of the virus — tracking the minor changes in its DNA as it grows and mutates. (That sounds ominous, thanks to sci-fi films, but most mutations are very minor and don’t really change how the virus works.) So far, all of the collected genomic data of the cases in the United States fall in line with what is already known, with the first confirmed case being in diagnosed in Snohomish County, Wash., on January 21; he had returned to Washington on January 15 after traveling to visit family in Wuhan, China. No one has found any genomic data suggesting a strain of SARS-CoV-2 had been floating around the West Coast or anywhere else in the U.S. from November or December, or even early January.
The second piece of counterevidence comes from flu tests. The Seattle Flu Study went back and reviewed thousands the samples it had taken in an ongoing study of flu outbreaks in and around that city. Out of 3,600 samples taken in January and 3,308 samples taken in February, the first test that showed SARS-CoV-2 was on February 21.
...The third, and perhaps most visually powerful piece of counterevidence, comes from what we’re seeing in the hospitals in New York City, as well as places like northern Italy and Spain. This is what happens when SARS-CoV-2 gets into an oblivious and unprepared population. Google "virgin field epidemics"
No one in the United States even knew about COVID-19 in January; onset of symptoms in the first recorded patient was December 1, at least according to the study in The Lancet. Final part: was it a lab accident? American intelligence agencies don't think so. I can hardly be accused of anti-Americanism for dropping the "so".

China cannot seriously threaten us. We have brought this scourge upon ourselves. It is OUR doing.
No one forced us to make our pharmaceutical supply chain >80% dependent on China.
No one forced us to outsource most of our non-pharmaceutical manufacturing supply chain to China.
No one forced us to make our flagship public universities' revenues hence solvency dependent on thousands of extremely well-connected and wealthy, free-spending spoiled ignorant CCP spawn.
No one forced us to admit thousands of Chinese spies into our research land and high-tech corporations.
We did all this to ourselves. Because we are ruled by f---ing morons.
[PJ] During the Coronavirus Task Force briefing on Monday, Dr. Fauci sought to clarify those comments, and make it clear that despite the way the media was spinning it, the first time he and Dr. Birx recommended "shutting down" the country to mitigate the spread of the virus Trump listened.
But the most stunning moment came when CBS White House correspondent Paula Reid asked him, "Are you doing this voluntarily?" as if to imply he'd been forced to make this clarification for the president's benefit.
"Everything I do is voluntary," he replied, clearly insulted by the question. "Please... don’t even imply that."

This Paula Reid sounded like a complete jack ass at the presser yesterday. She definitely sounded like one of those raving babbling leftists. She was pathetic.
If you ever watch The CBS Evening News, which I don't recommend, anchor lady Nora Roberts will come on all breathless about the latest "bombshell" (her favorite word) that conclusively proves they have finally gotten the bad, bad Orange Man. She will then call upon Paula Reid at the White House to fill us in on all the details and Reid comes on with this silly smirk to show that she truly enjoys dishing the dirt. Problem is, they haven't really gotten him yet. The bombshells always turn out to be duds.

[Epoch Times] Amidst Beijing’s increasingly aggressive actions, Taiwan’s President Tsai Ing-wen called on like-minded countries around the world to start pushing back against China and other “anti-democratic forces” across economic, political, and military fronts.
“Historical trends do not always favor the forward march of democracy. But in Taiwan, moving backward is not an option,” Tsai said on June 25.
“In the 21st century, democracy is in retreat,” she said, citing a report by Freedom House that found global freedom has been in decline for 12 consecutive years.
“Anti-democratic forces” are threatening Taiwan, Australia, United States, and others around the world today, she said. Tsai was not afraid to point the finger at China, which claims Taiwan as one of its provinces.

In this country only academic leftists who've lived and studied in continental Europe use "liberal" (usual formulation is "neoliberal") to mean "free market-supporting capitalist."
Nearly everyone else uses the word liberal to designate those who support a significant amount of state intervention to correct market failures - which renders the term all but useless as a meaningful marker of political differences.
The American left shuns the term, favoring "progressive" instead.

How's the FDP in Germany doing lately? If I recall, they got pretty beaten up over the past few elections.

'Liberals' were once essentially people of low self worth with dysfunctional psyches. They are now almost always individuals with a superficial facade of virtuosity but in their lives, while in their choices and attitudes they exhibit an amoral character and really shallow personalities. It is the amoral part, coupled with the usual 'progressive , atheist, pan-sexual' tropes that gives them their political identity in our eyes. Most conservatives see them only as the hair-dyeing, tarot reading, party hoppers and socialites and believe them to be inferior samples. They are just the foot-soldiers, the judases in fact.
The real Left is composed of some highly motivated, psychopaths that have learnt to play collectively, in order to advance their ultimate end. A hedonist utopia for themselves and their mercenary loyalists.
Today, because of the ungainliness of our chosen moralist shackles, the Left has garnered immense power. Even the masses not directly adherent to their dogmas cannot question their carefully cultivated academic, social and moral credibility.
They leveraged the common need to socialize inherent in academics, unemployed people and youth from broken homes very early on. The conservative, trusting in the power of Status Quo and the ability of the world to mend itself, was complacent. The Left braved jail, ignominy, batons and unemployment. Their early generations sacrificed for the strength their bastard offspring enjoys today. They adapted to our constitutionally placed barriers to psychopathy and came out dominant. But we dared not go the un-constitutional way even when we saw what they were going for, no.
The situation is basically the same everywhere, not just in America. The Left has even commandeered institutions that classify mental illnesses today; they have challenged the sanity of democratically elected leaders on grounds that they cannot toe the line.
We are slowly becoming the outliers of this skewed socio-political environment. Soon, for the larger part of the cowardly world - it's you and me who who will be considered mentally ill.

[Free Beacon] As the novel coronavirus has swept the earth, nations have been left scrambling to find, and even hoard, the medical tools needed to fight the deadly disease.
For a period of days last week, India looked set to ban the export of hydroxychloroquine, an unproven but promising treatment for COVID-19. Protective equipment producers 3M and Honeywell have alleged that the Chinese government has prohibited them from exporting their products. Much of Europe has closed its nominally open border to the flow of masks and other vital medical equipment, while the EU's lack of support for Italy has the country's prime minister warning the crisis could mean the union's failure.
Such defensiveness is a common feature of pandemics—during the 1976 swine flu scare, the United States refused to share vaccines, even with its close ally Canada. Nonetheless, this every-nation-for-itself moment has taken many by surprise, including American leaders now struggling to source vital resources. To Sen. Marco Rubio (R., Fla.), this surprise is an ideological failure—a belief that free trade and cosmopolitanism had so whittled away the nation-state that individual countries would not pursue their self-interest in a time of crisis.
[NBC] ABC News' "Good Morning America" anchor George Stephanopoulos said Monday on the show that he has tested positive for COVID-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus.
Stephanopoulos' wife, author and comedian Ali Wentworth, tested positive for the virus about two weeks ago. Stephanopoulos said he is asymptomatic.
"I actually feel great," he said. "I've never had a fever, never had cough, never had shortness of breath, never had chills, any of the classic symptoms you've been reading about." "shortness of height? Yes, why do you ask?"
The virus hit Wentworth differently. In the beginning of the month, she said she had "never been sicker," suffering from high fever, "horrific" body aches and a heavy chest. "This is pure misery," she wrote on Instagram at the time.
Stephanopoulos, said it was "no surprise" that he tested positive for the virus. While Wentworth self-isolated in a separate room of their home, Stephanopoulos has been her caregiver. The couple has two teenage daughters.

I know, I figured that much. But the authorities were telling us all until they were blue in the face that we shouldn't just run out and get tested if we didn't feel bad.
[Washington Examiner] President Trump began a White House press conference by showing a video montage with clips of officials praising his handling of the coronavirus pandemic.
The video, which was shown at Trump’s Monday press conference, began with the words, "The media minimized the risk from the start." It then showed clips of some in the media and their cable news guests saying that the coronavirus was not likely to reach the scale it has.
The footage then transitioned into a timeline of the coronavirus pandemic and various moves Trump and his administration took to combat the spread, including stopping travel from China and Europe. It also showed various governors praising the White House’s response to the virus.

I won’t get paid because I had a big retirement-related taxable event in 2018 and my 2019 tax is not processed yet. 2020 I am paying myself off of liquidated capital.
My apologies, dear Reader — the content disappeared somehow, so I’m working to reconstitute it.
[DailyWire] Dr. Robert Redfield, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, told Fox News on Monday that he believes the number of coronavirus (aka COVID19 or Chinese Plague) ...the twenty first century equivalent of bubonic plague, only instead of killing off a third of the population of Europe it kills 3.4 percent of those who notice they have it. It seems to be fond of the elderly, especially Iranian politicians and holy men... cases is "stabilizing" across the country and that the United States is close to the virus’ "peak."
The CDC has been largely on the sidelines during the coronavirus pandemic as the nation’s infections disease experts take the lead in helping President Donald Trump ...The tack in the backside of the Democratic Party... manage the crisis. The CDC has been focused on issuing guidelines for "social distancing" and self-protection for Americans looking to prevent or slow the spread of coronavirus in their states and cities.
The agency has been tracking coronavirus numbers, Redfield told Fox & Friends Monday, and he and other CDC experts believe the pandemic has "stabilized," especially in "hot zones" like New York City.
"I think we’ve really stabilized across the country," Redfield said. "We’re still seeing a small rate of increase in the range of 5 to 6 percent, as opposed to where we were before when it was 20 percent, 30 percent per day; but we are close."
Redfield added that once the day-over-day numbers begin coming down, authorities can begin discussing how to reopen the country and ease coronavirus-related lockdowns. That moment could come as early as this week.
"We’re stabilized and I anticipate that we will begin to see a decline in the days ahead, but we have got to just continue to take it day by day and look at the data," he continued. "We’re going to need to reopen gradually in a thoughtful, prudent way, jurisdiction by jurisdiction, based on the data about what’s the state of transmission of this virus in those areas."
COVID-19 is 10 times deadlier than swine flu, WHO says
[IsraelTimes] The novel coronavirus is 10 times more deadly than swine flu, also called H1N1, which caused a global pandemic in 2009, the World Health Organization says.
“We know that COVID-19 spreads fast, and we know that it is deadly, 10 times more deadly than the 2009 flu pandemic,” WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus tells a virtual briefing from Geneva.
He also calls for control measures to be lifted “slowly.”
States Move to Coordinate on Reopening Plans
[WSJ] Trump says federal government—not governors—will make the final call on sending Americans back to work and reopening closed businesses.
Two groups of governors said they would coordinate efforts to gradually reopen businesses and ease social-distancing guidelines, even as President Trump said he had the ultimate authority over when to restart the economy. The announcements by the governors on the East and West Coasts come after a decline in daily U.S. infection rates in recent days has prompted some officials to express cautious optimism that infections may be hitting a plateau as mitigation efforts take hold.
Belgium's Coronavirus Death Rate Surpasses Italy's
[Reason] [UPDATE, Apr. 13, 2020, 7:45 pm: The Italy count has gone up to 338 during the day because of newly reported data, so Belgium is still barely behind Italy, but given Belgium's and Italy's pace (Belgium has recently been having more than half as many daily coronavirus deaths as Italy, with 1/5 of the population of Italy), it seems certain that tomorrow Belgium will surpass Italy for good.]
I don't know why this is happening (different initial infection patterns? different containment policies? different treatment policies? different healthcare quality? different reporting practices?), but I thought I'd note it. Spain is at 374 deaths per million, Belgium at 337, Italy at 329, France at 221, UK at 167, Netherlands at 165 (Worldometer data). By way of comparison, US is at 67.
Spain virus deaths continue to fall
[IsraelTimes] The coronavirus death toll in Spain continues to fall, with 517 fatalities registered Monday, down from 619 deaths on Sunday and way down from the peak of 950 deaths recorded on April 2.
The total death toll in the country now stands at 17,489, with 169,496 confirmed cases and 64,727 recovered from COVID-19.
The death toll does not include unconfirmed cases at senior-living facilities and people who have died at home and the real number of fatalities from the disease is believed to be much higher.
Spain cautiously begins sending some back to work
[IsraelTimes] Spanish authorities are letting some workers begin to return to their jobs, but Health Minister Salvador Illa says the government will move carefully on allowing others to end their self-isolation amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The Spanish government, looking to get the economy moving again, has allowed workers to return to some factory and construction jobs. But retail stores and services must remain closed and office workers have to keep working from home.
Britain records 717 new deaths, bringing total to 11,329
[IsraelTimes] Britain says 717 people have died of the novel coronavirus in the past day, continuing a downward trend as the country’s leaders are set to mull easing some lockdown restrictions. The new toll brings the country’s total to 11,329. Friday and Saturday both saw death tolls over over 900, while Sunday’s toll dropped to 737.
Italy virus deaths surpass 20,000
[IsraelTimes] Italy’s civil protection service reports 566 new deaths, taking Italy’s fatalities total to 20,465 — officially second in the world behind the United States.
But a drop in patients in intensive care from a peak of 4,068 on April 3 to 3,260 on Monday confirms a general improvement in Italy’s COVID-19 trends. The rise in new infections dropped to a new low of just two percent.
Coronavirus: Russia surpasses 20,000 cases
[Jpost] Russia on Tuesday reported 2,774 new cases of the coronavirus, a record daily rise, bringing its overall nationwide tally to 21,102, the country's coronavirus response centre said. It said 170 people in Russia diagnosed with the virus have now died, an overnight rise of 22.

It would be smart for Trump to coordinate a restart with the various State Gov coalitions.
From a policy standpoint the State Govs have jurisdiction authority and knowledge about how the State works, e.g., re opening provisions that are legal and those that are not.
From an economic standpoint it increases the chances that the reopening will be orderly with minimal reshutting.
From a political standpoint it helps also.

South Dakota Implements Statewide Hydroxychloroquine Clinical Trial
Gotta hurry.
A million tourist bikers, and their $1000s, are due to show up Aug 8.
Having a successful Hydro trial and OTC 'samples' will be a crowd pleaser.
[IsraelTimes] Rafah terminal to be open for 4 days, allowing hundreds of Paleostinians to enter Strip; those returning required to quarantine for 21 days.
Gazoo ...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamaswith about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response... ’s Hamas, the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood, rulers on Monday temporarily reopened the border crossing with Egypt, shut due to the novel coronavirus (aka COVID19 or Chinese Plague) ...the twenty first century equivalent of bubonic plague, only instead of killing off a third of the population of Europe it kills 3.4 percent of those who notice they have it. It seems to be fond of the elderly, especially Iranian politicians and holy men... pandemic, to allow hundreds of Paleostinians to return.
One-way traffic into the coastal enclave through the Rafah crossing would be allowed for the coming four days, Gaza’s Hamas-run interior ministry said. A Convoy of CoVid™
All those returning would be put into compulsory 21-day quarantine, which could be extended, interior ministry front man Iyad al-Bozm said.
So far, only 13 COVID-19 infections have been confirmed in Gaza, all from people returning to the territory or those in contact with them while in quarantine.
But the Strip, under an Israeli-imposed blockade since 2007, is one of the most densely-populated territories on earth and has a struggling health system. Israel says the blockade is necessary to prevent arms from reaching Hamas and other Paleostinian terror groups in Gaza.
Hamas has imposed a series of measures including closing markets, schools and mosques.
Gaza, ruled by the Islamist terror group since 2007, ran out of COVID-19 testing kits last week, but the World Health Organization delivered 480 kits on Sunday.
At the Rafah arrivals hall on Monday, returning residents were met by dozens of coppers, doctors and nurses wearing protective medical equipment.
Among the returnees were students and people who had been outside Gaza for treatment for other diseases, said doctor Mohammed Abu Salamieh.
The Rafah border crossing with Egypt is the only exit from Gaza, apart from into Israel.
[IsraelTimes] A soldier was lightly injured Monday after he was attacked by a man who broke into an army base in southern Israel, the military said.
According to an army spokesperson, the soldier and his partner were patrolling when they spotted the suspect inside their base. They attempted to arrest the man, but he struck out at them, cutting the soldier’s arm lightly, and then ran back out of the base.
The Israel Defense Forces and police launched a manhunt for the suspect and an investigation into the incident, the army said.
The injured soldier received medical treatment at the scene, the spokesperson said.
The military said it was not yet clear why the man attempted to sneak into the base, though it appeared to have been an attempted robbery.
Military bases, particularly those in the deserts of southern Israel, are frequently robbed — of equipment and weapons — by criminals from nearby Bedouin communities.
[AlAhram] Amazon.com Inc said on Monday it plans to hire 75,000 more people for jobs ranging from warehouse staff to delivery drivers as the coronavirus (aka COVID19 or Chinese Plague) ...the twenty first century equivalent of bubonic plague, only instead of killing off a third of the population of Europe it kills 3.4 percent of those who notice they have it. It seems to be fond of the elderly, especially Iranian politicians and holy men... epidemic kept Americans locked in their homes and demand for online orders surged.
With shoppers clearing out shelves in fear of quarantines or product shortages, retailers are racing to keep food and hygienic items in stock and have employees on hand for in-store work or delivery.
The e-commerce giant now expects to spend over $500 million globally to increase wages for the workers during the pandemic, it said, up from a previous estimate of $350 million.
The new hiring are in addition to the 100,000 warehouse and delivery workers it hired recently to deal with the demand surge.
"We know many people have been economically impacted as jobs in areas like hospitality, restaurants and travel are lost or furloughed as part of this crisis and we welcome anyone out of work to join us at Amazon until things return to normal and their past employer is able to bring them back," the company said in a blog post.

It was just a few months ago, I noticed a full-size semi-trailer with the Amazon Prime logo on the side on I-35 in Texas. A few miles later, I saw a lot full of their trailers, ready to go on the road.

The panic and fear among the people who cannot be bothered to read the actual statistics about this pandemic is what should concern most preppers. In fact, this virus has been so overhyped that the Army’s field hospital in Seattle, an "epicenter" of the pandemic has closed after three days without seeing one single COVID-19 patient.
According to a report by Military.com, the hastily built field hospital set up by the Army in Seattle’s pro football stadium is shutting down without ever seeing a patient. This is being done "so the service can shift resources where they’re more urgently needed", Washington state Governor Jay Inslee said.
Medical equipment at the CenturyLink Field Event Center is being returned to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for use elsewhere, but the governor cautioned against reading too much into the move. Governor Inslee wants people to remain in a panicked state of emergency and dependent on the government’s salvation.
"Don’t let this decision give you the impression that we are out of the woods," Inslee said in a statement intended to push the official narrative of fear on Wednesday. "We have to keep our guard up and continue to stay home unless conducting essential activities to keep everyone healthy." Washington state saw the first coronavirus death in the U.S. on February 29. Stay panicked and remain in fear, Inslee says. "But we haven’t beat this virus yet and, until we do, it has the potential to spread rapidly if we don’t continue the measures we’ve put in place," he said.
The state asked FEMA and the Army Corps of Engineers to convert the football stadium "before our physical distancing strategies were fully implemented and we had considerable concerns that our hospitals would be overloaded with COVID-19 cases," Inslee said. Even though the hospitals have the capacity to handle patients getting sick with the virus.
The decision to close the Seattle field hospital comes amid early signs that the number of new cases could be hitting a plateau in New York, the epicenter of the coronavirus epidemic in the U.S., and other states.
At a news conference Friday, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo said, "Overall, New York is flattening the curve."
We were never dealing with a pandemic in the general sense. We were always dealing with a tyrannical power grab by every governor in this country and at the head of that, was Dr. Anthony Fauci. Fauci was so wrong about this virus he should be permanently discredited. Yet Americans continue to fall in line and obey his orders to their own personal economic detriment.
The unprecedented government response and mass panic will have lasting negative effects for all Americans. Many more will be destroyed financially and all will lose most of what’s left of our basic human rights.
The good news is that you can find toilet paper on some online retailers again. I’ll continue to do my best to link items that were bought in a panic over the past month to help those who may need them. Toilet paper still seems to be the hottest commodity of 2020.

[Rudaw] Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems.... (ISIS) turbans killed an Iraqi federal police officer at a checkpoint in Hawija, western Kirkuk late on Sunday, according to defense officials.
The unnamed officer was killed by an ISIS sniper at a checkpoint in Mansourieh al-Jabal, 45 km west of Kirkuk city.
"A member of the Iraqi federal police was martyred after the snipers of ISIS terrorist gangs shot up one of the checkpoints belonging to the first regiment of the 12th brigade in the third division of the Federal Police in the Mansourieh al-Jabal region in the Hawija district of the Kirkuk province," the Iraqi Security Media Cell said in a tweet.
This is the third deadly attack on Iraqi and Kurdish security forces in the disputed territories in the past week, indicating a rise in ISIS activity.
Two Peshmerga fighters were killed and another maimed in an ISIS attack on Kolajo on Tuesday night.
The turbans launched another strike on Thursday, killing two Hashd al-Shaabi fighters near al-Sadeq (Haliwa) military airport in Tuz Khurmatu.
Iraq’s disputed territories, which Erbil and Baghdad have long contested, and some western Sunni-majority regions including Anbar, have seen a recent uptick in bad boy activities, including bombings, ambushes, kidnappings, extortion, and arson.
Jabar Yawar, chief of staff at the Ministry of Peshmerga Affairs, says the ISIS resurgence has been underway for some time.
"According to our data, the group increased its activities in 2018 and 2019, especially in Kurdistani areas outside of the Kurdistan Region administration, including Diyala, Hamrin, Kirkuk, ... a thick stew of Arabs, Turkmen, Kurds, and probably Antarcticans, all of them mutually hostile most of the time... Tuz Khurmatu, and Qarachogh. In Qarachogh, they even established bases," Yawar told Rudew on Thursday.

[AlAhram] Italia on Sunday ordered migrants colonists aboard a rescue ship off its coast to be quarantined on another vessel to test them for the coronavirus (aka COVID19 or Chinese Plague) ...the twenty first century equivalent of bubonic plague, only instead of killing off a third of the population of Europe it kills 3.4 percent of those who notice they have it. It seems to be fond of the elderly, especially Iranian politicians and holy men... instead of allowing them to disembark.
The Alan Kurdi, run by the German non-governmental group Sea-Eye, is sailing in international waters off the western coast of Sicily.
The transport ministry said in a statement those on board will be transferred to another ship, screened by health authorities and quarantined on that ship.
This week the government closed ports to charity boats for the entire duration of the national health emergency over the coronavirus, a ban due to remain in effect until July 31.
The transport ministry statement said allowing the migrants colonists to disembark would put too much pressure on already stretched health services in Sicily. It gave no details on the planned transfer, its timing or location.
After a relative lull in arrivals of boat migrants colonists from Africa, numbers had started to pick up again in the first two months of the year, only to fall back sharply in March as Italia was hit by the epidemic.
However, the way to a man's heart remains through his stomach... smaller boats with migrants colonists continue to arrive in Italia. A dinghy carrying about 100 migrants colonists arrived at the Sicilian town of Pozzallo on Sunday morning, local authorities said.
[Bongino] Who knew that a potential medical treatment could become politicized? In the era of Donald Trump, nothing is beyond the media’s scope, it seems. After Trump expressed optimism in the drug Hydroxycloroquine as a coronavirus treatment, the media quickly mobilized to discredit it (on the sole basis of the person having recommended it being Trump).
So desperate was the media to turn the public against the potential treatment that they pushed a story of a man who died eating fish cleaner (which has chloroquine-phosphate in it), and his wife who became ill from ingesting it, attempting to equate this with the actual drug. It later turned out that the woman who claimed she and her husband took it on advice from Trump gave heavily to Democrats and is no fan of Trump — so perhaps we’ll learn that there’s even more to that story in the future.
Politicians were just as bad, with some in power handing out knee-jerk bans of the drug, only to quickly reverse course. Nevada governor Steve Sisolak banned the drug — then the state’s Department of Corrections was caught hoarding it for prisoners. Michigan’s governor also banned the drug and threatened the licenses of those who prescribe it — only to quickly reverse that decision and begin asking the federal government for more of it.
Not long-after one of Michigan’s Democrat state lawmakers credited the drug for her recovery from the coronavirus, and thanked President Trump for saving her life. Most aren’t as open minded as her however.
Unfortunately, the politicization of what could end up becoming confirmed as a viable treatment or cure for the coronavirus could prevent millions from ever considering it.
According to Rasmussen Reports, of Americans who say they or a family member have contracted the virus:
Among these Americans, 38% say they would take the drug Hydroxychloroquine if they were diagnosed with the coronavirus. Forty-one percent (41%) would not, but 21% are not sure.
Among all Americans, 31% would take the anti-malarial drug that many experts say counters the coronavirus but came under political attack after President Trump endorsed it. Thirty-five percent (35%) would not take Hydroxycholoroquine. Just as many (34%) are undecided.
Politics rules these days even when it comes to personal health. While 53% of Republicans say they would take Hydroxychloroquine if diagnosed with COVID-19, just 18% of Democrats and 28% of those not affiliated with either major party agree. Easy to say when you aren't having trouble breathing, big man.
It’s a choice. Darwin always wins.
While there is anecdotal evidence of Hydroxyclorquine’s effectiveness, medical research isn’t done based on anecdotes. There is still an enormous amount of research to be done on what does seem to be a promising treatment so far — but liberals don’t seem to want to know if it’ll work one way or another.

Son-in-law (a doctor) showed me a medical paper last week regarding hydroxychloroquine & COVID-19: I didn't completely understand and don't completely recall what I did understand, but it mentioned three different biochemical mechanisms by which the drug reasonably could be expected to inhibit the virus, though none were yet proven to do so.

Hydroxychloroquine has become an absurd debate in the U.S. Here this is not an ideological discussion.
The malaria drug is tested, but of course it's not the only drug which is tested.
Whatever works will be fine.

Based on my interpretation of the daily bar chart, they fell to an average of ca. 25 per day early last week and have fallen still further, to ca. 15-18 per day, over the past several days.

[BREITBART] Pope Francis ...Argentine liberation theologist, born Jorge Mario Bergoglio. He was elected pope in 2013. Rather than setting up shop in Avignon, where he belongs, the first Jesuit Pope chose to reside in the Domus Sanctae Marthae guesthouse instead of the papal apartments. He is big on climate change, against consumerism, and in favor of throwing a blanket over homosexual activity within the clergy. He's not real sure about the Resurrection, about Christ's divinity, and a few other things that would have gotten him burned at the stake a few hundred years ago, but he's hot for a certain South American Earth Mother Goddess... has proposed a basic "universal wage" as a remedy for the economic hardships day laborers face during the "unbearable" coronavirus (aka COVID19 or Chinese Plague) ...the twenty first century equivalent of bubonic plague, only instead of killing off a third of the population of Europe it kills 3.4 percent of those who notice they have it. It seems to be fond of the elderly, especially Iranian politicians and holy men... lockdowns.
In a Spanish-language letter to popular movements and community organizations, the pope underscored the difficult situation of many without regular, steady employment who are feeling the economic pinch of the lockdowns.
"I know that you have been excluded from the benefits of globalization," the pope wrote in his April 12 letter. "You don’t have access to those superficial pleasures that anesthetize so many consciences. Despite this, you always have to suffer their ill effects."
"The evils that afflict everyone hit you twice. Many of you live day-to-day without any legal guarantees to protect you," Francis said. "Street vendors, recyclers, carnival workers, small farmers, builders, seamstresses, caregivers of different types. As informal, independent or under-the-table workers you don’t have a stable wage to get you through this moment ... and the lockdowns become unbearable."
"Maybe the time has come to think about a universal wage that recognizes and dignifies the noble and irreplaceable tasks you perform, capable of guaranteeing and bringing to life this human and Christian slogan: no worker without rights," he said.
"My hope is that governments understand that technocratic paradigms (whether state-centered or market-driven) are not enough to address this crisis or the other great problems affecting humankind," the pope wrote. Now more than ever, persons, communities and peoples must be put at the center, united to heal, to care and to share.”

[Twitter] Fire Breaks Out On China's Massive New Type 075 Amphibious Assault Ship. The blaze struck while the ship was tied up to the pier at Hudong Zhonghua Shipbuilding in Shanghai.

It is unclear how much damage has been done to the amphibious assault ship at this time, although it appears the fire emanated from, or at least involved, its well deck. A well deck is a floodable garage-like space that is used on amphibious assault ships for launching and recovering ship-to-shore transport boats and hovercraft, as well as amphibious fighting vehicles.

[Babylon Bee] More colleges across the country have been renaming their liberal arts degrees "non-essential worker degrees" in a bid to be more honest about what exactly the course of study entails.
"We wanted to be a little more honest about what you can expect from a liberal arts program -- sorry, a non-essential worker program," said Charles C. Kettlebrook, Dean of Winstonhamington University in Philadelphia. "Whenever people need to be sent home, to be frank, you'll be the first to go. It will be kind of nice for you, sometimes, actually, since you'll get to stay home and collect a check from the government instead of going out and being productive."
The colleges confirmed that nothing has changed in the actual studies being offered by the liberal arts programs, but now they can't be sued for false advertising. "You'll know right from the get-go that the pottery, French literature, or zero-gravity space station basket weaving classes you're taking are completely useless and non-essential."

[ToloNews] A draft of a Taliban ...mindless ferocity in a turban... charter consisting of a list of rules, presumably intended as a guide for the potential future governance of Afghanistan, was shown to TOLOnews by a government source. Titled "The charter of the Islamic emirate of Afghanistan," the list of articles looks very similar to those of the former Taliban regime, which was in power in Kabul from 1996 to 2001.
The charter, which calls for the establishment of an Islamic emirate, has 149 articles which include a broad range of topics covering how laws will be passed to the mandate for a white flag.

[DailyCaller] President Trump issued a memo late Friday, ordering acting Homeland Security Secretary Chad Wolf to notify the State Department of any government that refuses to accept deportees from the U.S.
Upon notification, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo would have seven days to impose visa sanctions, making it harder — and likely impossible — for citizens of those countries to obtain U.S. visas.
The memo dramatically ratcheted up pressure on governments, particularly in Central America, to keep allowing deportation flights into their countries.

Snip. Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. is is an attorney, a radio host, an environmental activist, and an anti-vaxxer nut. We who are parents have been watching the damage he’s caused as measles, mumps, and whooping cough swept through our schools. Now, it seems, the idiots are up in arms about the future COVID-19 vaccine, and want to take the rest of us with them.
[Give this a thought next time you hear of shortages of PPE.]
[Mises] Recently here in Vancouver, Canada, medical mask resellers were punished by authorities, with their inventory seized and fines imposed. This is the second time resellers have been punished in recent weeks. This action is the exact opposite of what the government should do if it wants to see an increase in supply of medical masks to people who need them.
A local mayor, Brad West, has called the acts of the resellers to "egregious, so irresponsible, so selfish and so motivated by greed." It is this writer’s contention that unless the resellers stole those masks, it is the actions of local authorities which are egregious and irresponsible. West is presuming that those who buy those masks have no legitimate need for them. The CDC now states that wearing masks helps reduce the risk of COVID-19 exposure. How is it that the voluntary selling, and buying, of medical masks to protect you and your family is considered egregious and irresponsible?
The commercial actions of resellers, if anything, help boost supply of those masks to the consumer market. Retails stores and pharmacies are out of inventor,y because their supplier can’t ostensibly meet retail demand. Now, a reseller, through his own resourcefulness and researching of the wholesale market, has come upon a supplier who is willing to provide inventory to him. The reseller contacts the supplier and arranges for the purchase and shipment of those masks. He allocates time and energy to make this transaction, taking certain risks that the masks might not arrive in a timely manner or might be withheld by customs, or otherwise might not be delivered by a deceitful and unscrupulous wholesaler.
For his time and effort, the reseller is paid a profit (i.e., wages) over the wholesale price. His customers get hold of masks in a time when all store shelves are empty. The more resellers there are, the more orders are given to wholesalers and manufacturers, and the more of the product is made available to the consumer market. As demand gets satiated, prices eventually come down.
What the government has done is effectively shut down productive distribution and reseller channels, which are vital and very necessary in ensuring that retail customers get what they want. They have disincentivized entrepreneurs from going out and sourcing suppliers who can help satisfy demand.
And to make a bad situation even worse, the government has shut down a source of income for entrepreneurs who are now out of work due the lockdown and must now rely on employment insurance and other forms of government welfare, putting an even greater strain on government coffers (i.e., taxpayer money).
When will government ever learn? [They won't. EVER.]

[EREMNEWS] Militias affiliated with the al-Wefaq government carried out mass and individual executions in the streets of the cities of Sabratah and Sorman, located west of the Libyan capital, Tripoli ...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn... , after controlling the two areas early Monday.
Witnesses told "Iram News" that many coppers and citizens were beaten and dragged in the streets, before being liquidated in cold blood in the cities of Sorman and Sabratah, after the militias entered them, with "direct" Ottoman Turkish support.
"The militias carried out robberies, looting and executions in the cities they controlled, because this is their method, when they win, they brutalize and commit acts that the forehead of humanity deserves to do," said political activist from the nearby city of Zawiya, Mahmoud Fahail.
He explained in a statement to "Erm News" that "the militias burned and stole cop shoppes and the headquarters of the Security Directorate in Sabratah and Sorman, and executed the supporters of the Libyan National Army in the squares and streets, after they burned their homes and stole car shows and shops"; as he put it.
Al-Boom pointed out that among the militias that entered the two cities, there are gangs of fuel thieves and illegal immigration merchants led by the "uncle", who had previously been expelled from his patience, and returned to avenge those who expelled him.

[BREITBART] A convicted Somali gang rapist is to be released on bail after his deportation was blocked by airline passengers, who staged a revolt to block him from being sent back to his country.
Yaqub Ahmed, one of four men who gang-raped a 16-year-old girl in 2007, should be released from detention after being granted "bail in principle" despite the authorities acknowledging he poses a "real risk" to the public.
In announcing his release, Judge Margaret O’Keeffe acknowledged that there is a "real risk that he would commit offences if released on bail."
"I am also satisfied that the applicant poses a risk of absconding. He failed to comply with bail conditions in the past and was caught attempting to leave the jurisdiction," the judge admitted.
But she said that she was bound by guidance for immigration judges which limits the government’s ability to detain someone for more than six months before they are deported.
"I have to take into account that there is currently no realistic prospect of his removal to Somalia and it cannot be said that his removal is imminent. There is simply no way to know when the position will change in relation to international air travel," the judge concluded, referring to the effects of the Chinese coronavirus (aka COVID19 or Chinese Plague) ...the twenty first century equivalent of bubonic plague, only instead of killing off a third of the population of Europe it kills 3.4 percent of those who notice they have it. Friends only suspected Gretchen Anthony, 51, could be in trouble after getting baffling text messages in late March claiming she was being held with an "acute" case of COVID-19, WPEC reported, citing police reports.
Jupiter, Florida, cops soon proved she had not been treated locally — or made any insurance claims for treatment.
Officers soon focused on her 48-year-old husband, David Anthony, who had separated from her in February — and whose vocabulary seemed to match the coronavirus messages that were sent, the report says.
A neighbor at the couple’s home told officers she had heard a "blood-curdling scream" — and then a woman pleading "No! No it hurts," the affidavit said, according to CBS12.
"As the investigation progressed and further evidence collected, it is believed David E. Anthony is responsible for her disappearance and related homicide," Jupiter police said in a statement posted to Facebook.
The husband was eventually found in Las Cruces, New Mexico, on March 31 — 10 days after he allegedly killed his wife, police said.
He was charged with second-degree murder and kidnapping and is being held awaiting extradition to Palm Beach County, cops said.

The key point for the election is that the young lefties don't vote. Typically only 25%, max 35% in the best of times/periods of greatest enthusiasm.
Add to that their disappointment over being told to vote for Plugz and you get massive underperformance by this crucial Dem cohort this fall.

I still think Bernie is a believer. But I also believe he found out how lucrative it is to run for president and is cashing in as much as he can. Best way to do that is when you lose, support the establishment.

I don't think I'd have the tires to give the 'Biden is a much better person than I am' speech without anything short of South African Sign Language Guy beside me.
The wailing and the gnashing of teeth is music to my ears. The true believers in socialism got fucked over again by their idol. After he did it back in 2016 too.
The democrats have closed their party to the far left and are totally under control of the corporate neoliberal wing. Not so different from the establishment GOP.
Some right wingers started a rumor on twitter that Bernie was refunding his campaign contributors since he won't be needing it. Of course, there are NO REFUNDS.
#26
I think of South African Sign Language Guy every time I see someone signing next to someone at a podium. Unfair to actual professionals, for sure, but I can't help myself.

[News.USNI.org] The French Navy (Marine Nationale) aircraft carrier and flagship Charles de Gaulle (R91) is heading home early following suspicion of several COVID-19 cases among its crew members. About forty sailors may be infected with COVID-19, according to a French Ministry of the Armed Forces press release issued on Wednesday.
From the inventors of the white flag.
"On board the aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle currently deployed in the Atlantic as part of the mission Foch, around forty sailors are today under close medical observation. They are showing symptoms consistent with possible COVID-19 infection. These first symptoms have appeared recently," read the statement.
The aircraft carrier has been deployed on "Mission Foch" since January. The carrier is sailing in the Atlantic Ocean and was already on its way back to the Mediterranean. Charles de Gaulle's home port is Toulon Naval Base in Southern France.
[Kunstler] The ruins of Mary McClellan Hospital stand on a hill overlooking the village of Cambridge, New York, in what was a "flyover" corner of the country until the planes stopped flying. The hospital cornerstone was laid July 4, 1917. The USA had entered the war against Germany a few months earlier. The "Spanish" flu pandemic kicked off in January 1918. The hospital opened in January 1919. The flu burned out a year later. The hospital shut down for good in 2003.
I’ve lived around here for decades and never actually got a look at the place until I went up there on a blustery spring Saturday before Easter to look around. I like to read landscapes and the human imprint upon them. This one is a ghost story, not just of the bygone souls who came and went here, but of an entire society, the nation that we used to be and stopped being not so long ago....
[Old photos in original story]
American health care, as we call it today, and for all its high-tech miracles, has evolved into one of the most atrocious rackets the world has ever seen. By racket, I mean an enterprise organized explicitly to make money dishonestly. This is what we've become, and the fact that we seem to be okay with that tells you more about what we have become. The advent of Covid-19, along with the extreme economic disorders it has triggered, will probably be the beginning of the end of that racket. We have no idea how medicine will re-organize itself, but I'd guess that it will happen at a much more primitive scale – because that's usually what happens when human societies overshoot badly. Alas, history is not exactly symmetrical.
But read these photos and meditate on what we were once capable of putting together in this land, and maybe you will find some clues about what was truly admirable about the American condition before we stopped caring.
[BREITBART] An investigation by The News Agency that Dare Not be Named found dozens of police reports, known here as First Information Reports, alleging sexual harassment, rape and physical abuse by Islamic holy mans teaching in madrassas or religious schools throughout Pakistain, where many of the country’s poorest study. The AP also documented cases of abuse through interviews with law enforcement officials, abuse victims and their parents. The alleged victims who spoke for this story did so with the understanding only their first names would be used.
There are more than 22,000 registered madrassas in Pakistain, teaching more than 2 million children. But there are many more religious schools that are unregistered. They are typically started by a local holy man in a poor neighborhood, attracting students with a promise of a meal and free lodging. There is no central body of holy mans that governs madrassas. Nor is there a central authority that can investigate or respond to allegations of abuse by holy mans, unlike the Catholic Church, which has a clear hierarchy topped by the Vatican.
The government of Prime Minister Imran Khan ...aka The Great Khan, who is the lightweight's lightweight... has promised to modernize the curriculum and make the madrassas more accountable, but there is little oversight.
Police say the problem of sexual abuse of children by holy mans is pervasive and the scores of police reports they have received are just the tip of the iceberg. Yet despite the dozens of reports, none have resulted in the conviction of a holy man. Religious holy mans are a powerful group in Pakistain and they close ranks when allegations of abuse are brought against one of them. They have been able to hide the widespread abuse by accusing victims of blasphemy ...the act of insulting or showing contempt or lack of reverence to a deity, or sacred objects, or toward something considered sacred or inviolable. Some religions consider it to be a crime. In Pakistain you can commit blasphemy by looking cross-eyed at a Koran... or defamation of Islam.
Families in Pakistain are often coerced into "forgiving" holy mans, said Deputy Police Superintendent Sadiq Baloch, speaking in his office in the country’s northwest, toward the border with Afghanistan.
Overcome by shame and fear that the stigma of being sexually abused will follow a child into adulthood, families choose instead to drop the charges, he said. Most often, when a family forgives the holy man the investigation ends because the charges are dropped.
"It is the hypocrisy of some of these mullahs, who wear the long beard and take on the cloak of piety only to do these horrible acts behind closed doors, while openly they criticize those who are clean-shaven, who are liberal and open-minded," Baloch said. "In our society so many of these men, who say they are religious, are involved in these immoral activities."

Sure the Catholic priests do it. But under islam and the teaching of Moohamhead, it's legal. See Pedophile for Profit. Child sex slaves are legal, normal.
[Yahoo] North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has carried out a major reshuffle of his State Affairs Commission, official media reported Monday, replacing more than a third of its members.
"This is a rather large scale of SAC membership shuffle," said former US government North Korea analyst Rachel Lee.
Pictures carried by the official Rodong Sinmun newspaper showed hundreds of lawmakers sitting in close proximity to each other without wearing protective masks.
A cabinet report reiterated the North's insistence that "not a single case" of the coronavirus pandemic that has swept the world since emerging in neighbouring China has been reported in the country.

[BREITBART] Del Rio Sector Border Patrol agents rescued a woman from an assault in the drive-thru line of an Eagle Pass, Texas, restaurant. Currently, all restaurants in the state are limited to take-out service due to the threat of the Coronavirus (COVID-19).
An agent assigned to the Eagle Pass Station came upon a local restaurant in the early-morning hours of April 8. As he approached, the agent observed a female motorist being assaulted while waiting in line, according to information provided by Del Rio Sector Border Patrol officials.
The agent intervened and stopped the alleged attacker from further harming the victim. The agent detained the man and called for assistance from the Eagle Pass Police Department. Local police soon after placed the man in jug. Officials report the man now faces charges of assault and resisting arrest.
"Dedication to duty, vigilance, and quick response prevented this dangerous situation from escalating further," said Del Rio Sector Acting Chief Patrol Agent Doyle E. Amidon Jr. "Our agents are trained to adapt to any situation and always stand ready to protect the citizens of our communities."
Officials did not disclose the nature of the assault or if the alleged attacker was in the vehicle with the victim.
[ALMASDARNEWS] In a new report by the The New York Times
...which still proudly displays Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize... , the Israeli intelligence agency, Mossad, concluded that Iran ...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both. They hate JewsZionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol... was no longer an imminent security threat to Israel, due to the outbreak of the coronavirus (aka COVID19 or Chinese Plague) ...the twenty first century equivalent of bubonic plague, only instead of killing off a third of the population of Europe it kills 3.4 percent of those who notice they have it. It seems to be fond of the elderly, especially Iranian politicians and holy men... Citing ’informed’ sources, the NYT said that the coronavirus outbreak in Israel has prompted the intelligence agency to confront the pandemic inside the country by obtaining medical equipment and technology from abroad. and the Mossad ran to the NYT to break this, of course
The NYT’s Mossad sources said Iran is not posing any immediate threat to Israel because of this coronavirus outbreak, as the Islamic Theocratic Republic has shifted their attention to combating this deadly illness.
According to the Iranian Health Ministry, the country has a total of 71,166 cases and 4,474 deaths so far from the coronavirus outbreak.
Despite the claims in the article, the Israeli Ministry of Defense has still focused on Hezbollah’s movements in both Leb ...an Iranian colony situated on the eastern Mediterranean, conveniently adjacent to Israel. Formerly inhabited by hardy Phoenecian traders, its official language is now Arabic, with the usual unpleasant side effects. The Leb civil war, between 1975 and 1990, lasted a little over 145 years and produced 120,000 fatalities. The average length of a ceasefire was measured in seconds. The Lebs maintain a precarious sectarian balance among Shiites, Sunnis, and about a dozeen flavors of Christians. It is the home of Hezbollah, which periodically starts a war with the Zionist Entity, gets Beirut pounded to rubble, and then declares victory and has a parade. The Lebs have the curious habit of periodically murdering their heads of state or prime ministers... and Syria.
Over the weekend, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) posted a photo of a Syrian Arab Army (SAA) commander meeting with Hezbollah forces in the al-Quneitra Governorate.
The IDF warned Hezbollah and the Syrian Arab Army that they were watching their movements from afar and would respond to any threat to Israel.
On March 31st, the Israeli Defense Forces carried out a powerful attack on Syria’s Shayrat Airbase, causing significant damage to the western wing of the installation.

Mossad source - bartender in the writer's favorite bar?

2007 called and G.Treverton/RAND asked Mossad to stop cribbing their 2007 National Intelligence Estimate on Iran’s Nuclear Intentions and
Capabilities.
[instapundit] In a column headlined, “The Times Took 19 Days to Report an Accusation Against Biden. Here’s Why,” former BuzzFeed editor Ben Smith asks Baquet:
I want to ask about some edits that were made after publication, the deletion of the second half of the sentence: “The Times found no pattern of sexual misconduct by Mr. Biden, beyond the hugs, kisses and touching that women previously said made them uncomfortable.” Why did you do that?
Baquet replied:
Even though a lot of us, including me, had looked at it before the story went into the paper, I think that the campaign thought that the phrasing was awkward and made it look like there were other instances in which he had been accused of sexual misconduct. And that’s not what the sentence was intended to say.
I’m pretty sure the 2020 Trump campaign won’t have the same veto power on Times articles.
It’s always nice to see major legacy media figures drop the mask of objectivity, usually inadvertently. Baquet’s admission today is reminiscent of CBS’s Scott Pelley’s 2017 interview with blogger and prolific tweeter Mike Cernovich, where to paraphrase Breitbart.com’s Ezra Dulis, Pelley lost a fight rigged in his favor:
See Instapundit's story at title link for Pelley story.
Baquet failed to muster a coherent response beyond noting that the standard for reporting on such allegations is “very subjective.” He explained that the Kavanaugh confirmation hearings in 2018, which included testimony from a woman, Christine Blasey Ford, who accused him of sexually assaulting her in high school, constituted a “hot story” that required a “different news judgement.”
Kavanaugh vehemently denied Ford’s allegation, and the Times did not interview anyone who recalled Ford telling them about the alleged incident at the time. Baquet, in the interview with Smith, cited the importance of “contemporaneous” conversations in determining the credibility and newsworthiness of sexual assault allegations. Like he said, the standard is “very subjective.”
Baquet also defended the Times‘s decision to immediately publish Julie Swetnick’s allegations against Kavanaugh. Swetnick, a client of former attorney and convicted felon Michael Avenatti, accused Kavanaugh of gang rape at frat parties. She turned out to be about as credible as her attorney. But the Times chose not to spend two weeks investigating her claims, Baquet said, because Kavanaugh “was already in a public forum in a large way” and had become “the biggest political story in the country.” Apparently the same can not be said of Joe Biden or the 2020 presidential election.
As Matt Whitlock of the National Republican Senatorial Committee tweets, Baquet’s admission today “should be a major media scandal, but many of the major media watch dogs have ignored it entirely because it didn’t happen on Fox News.”

Nice! I like that. No need to use words like lies, bullshit, tall takes, disinformation, defamation... these are news judgments. And we know that judgments must be tailored for their political ramifications.

Absolutely. The language is unambiguous. This a repeat of 2016 -- look up "Glenn Simpson" + "hack that I am"

Wrong. News organizations are supposed to be objective, not subjective. Party propaganda outlets, however, by their very nature have different standards.

Not if you have discarded the the totally outlandish 'conspiracy theory' of a Chinese bio-engineered asymmetric attack (or beta test) focused on the US Navy, Taiwan, and the Pacific Rim.
Not if you have ignored the duplicity, denial, economic threats, and damage control of the Chinese political leadership and media machine.

[ToloNews] TOLOnews findings show that the Taliban ...mindless ferocity in a turban... has carried out 2,162 attacks against government forces following the one-week reduction in violence (RIV) that started on February 22 and led to the signing of a peace agreement between the US and the Taliban.
The findings show that the Afghan forces — who now claim to be in an active but defensive mode against the Taliban — have conducted 302 operations in response to the Taliban during this period — March 3 to April 7.
Before the RIV week, the Taliban conducted over 70 attacks a day, according to sources, while TOLOnews findings show that during the reduction in violence period, the security incidents dropped to as low as 12 to 15 per day. But the findings also show that after the RIV period, the Taliban conducted 31 to 96 attacks on Afghan forces per day while government forces responded with between 1 to 17 operations a day.
"They (the Taliban) do not have full control over their fighters for two reasons: First, some of their fighters are foreign nationals, and, second, they are faced with an internal rift," said Zahir Azimi, a retired Army general.
TOLOnews findings show that the Taliban conducted 195 attacks on an Afghan forces outpost and their convoys from February 22 to March 11, a time period that includes the reduction in violence week and another 10 days in which the group pledged to keep its attacks low. During this period, the group conducted 11 to 27 attacks on Afghan forces in a day.
During the RIV week, Afghan forces conducted 74 attacks — 1 to 20 attacks a day, the findings show.
The findings also reveal that the Taliban conducted 45 attacks on the first day after the end of the RIV week — on March 1 — a day after the signing of the US-Taliban agreement.
"Taliban attacks have dramatically increased after the reduction in violence week, and it still continues," Defense Ministry front man Fawad Aman said. "The security and defense forces thwarted Taliban attacks within the framework of the defensive status," said Aman.
The Taliban has said that some of their attacks in some provinces have been in response to night raids and operations by Afghan forces.
Analysts question the independence of the Taliban’s leadership to make own their decisions, and they also doubt their control over their fighters on the battlefields
"They (the Taliban) are not independent in their decisions," said Mirza Mohammad Yarmand, former deputy minister of interior affairs, who called the US-Taliban agreement incomplete.
"They (the Taliban) do not have full control over their fighters for two reasons: First, some of their fighters are foreign nationals, and, second, they are faced with an internal rift," said Zahir Azimi, a retired Army general.
Then there is no point in negotiating peace with them. Even if they intended to abide by anything they signed, their people can be trusted to break it.

[BREITBART] Governor Ralph Coonman Northam ...Governor of Virginia, another Dem Great White Hope. He has a fondness for wearing blackface. He won election by calling his Publican opponent Ed Gillespie a racist, but then, don't they all?... (D) signed legislation Friday creating universal background checks in Virginia and limiting law-abiding Virginians to one handgun purchase per month.
Northam’s office announced his signature on Senate Bill 70 / House Bill 2, creating the universal checks and thereby outlawing private gun sales.
He signed Senate Bill 69 / House Bill 812 resurrecting Virginia’s "one-handgun-a-month rule to help curtail stockpiling of firearms and trafficking."
Northam used a tweet to refer to these gun controls as "commonsense gun safety measures," but he did not mention that they would not have prevented the May 31, 2019 Virginia Beach shooting that he used as an impetus for gun control.
He also signed other controls into law, including requirements that gun owners report stolen firearms within 48 hours of the theft or face "civil penalty." This puts the onus for a gun theft on the gun owner, rather than the individual who stole the firearm.

It's well past time to use ARCLIGHT as a weapon of "mass persuasion" against these groups. Maybe start with the Baghdad government. I'm sure intel can find a decent target. Needs to be massive -- about a dozen aircraft, either B-52s or B-1s, even a mix of the two. They don't respect us. It's time they learned to fear us.

[BREITBART] An 18-year-old man accused of fatally pushing a Marine veteran in front of a train in reliably Democrat Chicago, aka The Windy City or Mobtown ...home of Al Capone, the Chicago Black Sox, a succession of Daleys, Barak Obama, and Rahm Emmanuel... is now facing first-degree murder charges.
Police arrested Ryan Munn Friday night and charged him with first-degree murder for allegedly pushing Mamadou Balde, 29, in front of a CTA Red Line train on Tuesday, WGN reported.
Munn was identified by witnesses as he "punched and pushed" Balde into the passing train, according to the police report.
The arrest is Munn’s first, and he is scheduled to appear before a judge for his first bond hearing on Sunday, the Chicago Tribune reported.
"It would be very, very good if this happened quickly because it’s just too much,’’ Mamadou Balde’s father, Al Balde, said early on Saturday afternoon on learning of the arrest. "Someone threw someone alive into a train. This is crazy."
Balde was waiting for a train Tuesday evening at the Jackson Red Line Stop when three people began arguing with him, police said.
Surveillance video reportedly showed Balde walking away from the squabble when one of the three men ran up to him and pushed him off the platform into a moving train, abruptly ejecting him from the gene pool.
Balde, who served for two tours in Afghanistan, was found dead by the time the police arrived at the CTA Red Line station.
The Cook County Medical Examiner said Balde died from multiple injuries.
The attack was one of eight homicides recorded in Chicago on Tuesday, marking the deadliest day of violence the city has seen in one day for nearly two years.

The statement added: “A joint force with air support began to besiege Al-Wakr and engage the elements inside it and killed a number of them.”
According to one source, the Iraqi security forces managed to kill seven Islamic State terrorist during the brief operation on Monday.
On Sunday, an affiliate of the Federal Police was killed and two others were wounded, after an ISIS attack on the Mansuriyah village, south of Kirkuk.

Explain her dictatorial overreach. Perfect Dem
[Red State] The people of Michigan aren’t happy with Governor Gretchen Whitmer, who has flubbed the coronavirus response at almost every turn thanks to her need to put politics before people. Because of that, a petition formed online requesting signatures for a recall election, and it’s shot into the stratosphere.
The page was started three weeks ago and, as of this writing, the Change.org page has hit nearly 154,000 signatures and it hasn’t stopped yet.
"Her failure’s during the COVID-19 Corona Virus is causing more Michiganders to get sick," wrote John Powell, who started the petition. "Closing and banning various nonessential businesses and activities while leaving others open. Further promoting the pandemic. She has lied since day one with her #Fixthedamnroads which she has failed to do anything in this regard. The response to #PFAS was negligence and completely removing funding for #PureMichigan clearly shows her lack of anything positive for the State of Michigan."
The comments don’t get any kinder, with signers of the petition accusing Whitmer of harming Michiganders and looking out for her own political career.
"Her priorities are no longer the residents of Michigan but her possible position as V.P. for Biden," wrote Patricia Duncan.
"Her first response in each and every challenge is to direct blame rather than take command," wrote George Fillar.
"Her draconian restrictions on our personal freedom go too far. Also, her childish handling of the state budget," wrote Richard Olejniczak.
Commenters question the need for various restrictions that even involve work in their own homes such as planting gardens or doing home improvements. They also can’t seem to wrap their head around why various home improvement or textile stores are closed but liquor stores aren’t.
"She needs to stop telling people they can’t paint or plant flowers?? Are we supposed to sit at home and be depressed?? I mean... What happened to the land of the Free?? People can practice Social distancing and stay safe still," wrote Linda Blackerby.
As my colleague Nick Arama wrote, the Orwellian lockdown that Whitmer has foisted on Michiganders has been far overreaching:
As we previously reported, Whitmer banned travel between residences with few exceptions such as helping out an elderly family member.
So you’re allowed to drive to a park or out of state, just not to any other cottage or residence. The idea sounds arbitrary but it was about trying to prevent those from the more likely infected areas from spreading it to other areas of the state not as infected.
Another thing people are finding arbitrary is what the state has chosen to ban them from buying.
You’re apparently not allowed to buy infant car seats.
You’re definitely not allowed to buy seeds from a store and all nurseries and garden centers have been closed. Michigan resident Terressa Carson was furious that she couldn’t buy seeds to plant her peas, broccoli, cauliflower, and carrots — food that she and her family will eat all winter. Carson said those were "essential" services to her family.
Whitmer seems to have alienated Michiganders with arbitrary restrictions that make no sense. Once this pandemic is over, I expect Whitmer is going to have a rough time with any elections down the road...if she makes it that far.

Change.org petitions are just a way of gleaning email addresses, no effect other than to make you feel good, at least until you start getting all those SWJ begs for cash. If MI has a recall mechanism, wake me up when it starts up.

She seems like an ideal running mate for Plugz.
Imagine these two loons on stage at the same time.
Picture it: this maundering, grinning and incoherent hair-sniffing Mad Hatter, hovering around and rubbing up against and groping his googley-eyed, big-breasted madwoman running mate.
And every squeeze by Plugz elicits yet another absurd diktat from his loony Queen of Hearts. "Sentence first, then verdict, then trial by jury of pack of cards!"
She could also be a product of those, sometimes seen in government/military, where they think they get extra credit by increasing standards to make them look like they are really "tough" when all it does is increase burdens, administrative or otherwise, on people.
[BREITBART] Dozens of people have been arrested in the Brussels municipality of Anderlecht after migration-background youths staged a riot and fired shots from a stolen police service weapon.
The trigger for the riot in the European Union ...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing... capital — which is under strict lockdown as Belgium experiences one of the worst per capita coronavirus (aka COVID19 or Chinese Plague) ...the twenty first century equivalent of bubonic plague, only instead of killing off a third of the population of Europe it kills 3.4 percent of those who notice they have it. It seems to be fond of the elderly, especially Iranian politicians and holy men... corpse counts in the world — seems to have been the death of a 19-year-old identified as "Adil".
The young suffered fatal injuries after running a police checkpoint on a scooter and subsequently colliding with a police van which was sent as back-up, according to POLITICO.
Calls for a "protest" soon followed, despite bans on public gatherings, and video footage shows youths who appear to be from a migration background trashing police vehicles with slabs of stone in the middle of the street.
Reports indicate that the "protest" escalated to the point of an individual disguised by a balaclava firing shots from a handgun which was stolen from the police, ending in at least 43 arrests.

[GatesOfVienna] One of the side-effects of the coronavirus lockdowns in Europe has been the broadcasting of the Muslim call to prayer, even where such broadcasts are ostensibly against the law. The video below highlights the azan at a DITIB mosque in the German town of Germersheim.
Video transcript:
00:10 Mili Görus and DITIB allow the Muezzin call to prayer in the middle of Germersheim.
00:17 Approved by CDU Mayor Schaile.

[NYPOST] An evangelical pastor died of COVID-19 just weeks after proudly showing off how packed his Virginia church was — and vowing to keep preaching "unless I’m in jail or the hospital." Divine intervention, artfully applied.
In his last known in-person service on March 22, Bishop Gerald O. Glenn got his congregation at Richmond’s New Deliverance Evangelistic Church to stand to prove how many were there despite warnings against gatherings of more than 10 people.
"I firmly believe that God is larger than this dreaded virus. You can quote me on that," he said, repeating it a second time to claps, saying that "people are healed" in his church.
Happily announcing he was being "controversial" by being "in violation" of safety protocols — with "way more than 10 people" at the church — he vowed to keep his church open "unless I’m in jail or the hospital."
"I am essential," he said of remaining open, adding, "I’m a preacher — I talk to God!"
On Sunday, his church announced "with an exceedingly sorrowful and heavy heart" that the pastor had died a week after being diagnosed with COVID-19.
His wife, Marcietia Glenn, is also sick with the bug, with church members offering their prayers.

[DAWN] Senior holy mans of Wafaqul Madaris al Arabia warned the government on Monday not to further the restrictions on congregations in mosques, which have been imposed to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus (aka COVID19 or Chinese Plague) ...the twenty first century equivalent of bubonic plague, only instead of killing off a third of the population of Europe it kills 3.4 percent of those who notice they have it. It seems to be fond of the elderly, especially Iranian politicians and holy men... Despite the government's pleas to observe social distancing, more than 53 senior holy mans of Rawalpindi and Islamabad, belonging to the Wafaqul Madaris al Arabia, held a meeting in Jamia Darul Uloom Zakria, Tarnol, Islamabad to discuss the matter. The meeting was attended by senior holy mans representing various seminaries, banned groups, proscribed persons and political and non-political parties.
The holy mans' warning has been issued before the government could come up with a plan to curb the spread of the disease during the holy month of Ramazan.
After much deliberation and meetings with religious leaders, the government has banned prayer congregations of more than five people as part of measures imposed to curb Covid-19.
A video clip released by them today showed holy mans belonging to various political and non-political organizations including Jamaat Ulema Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), Aalmi Tanzeem Khatam-e-Nabuwat, seminaries such as Taleem ul Koran Raja Bazar and proscribed persons including a representative of banned group Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat ...which is the false nose and plastic mustache of the murderous banned extremist group Sipah-e-Sahaba Pakistain, whatcha might call the political wing of Lashkar-e-Jhangvi... , sitting in close proximity of each other.
Announcing the decision, Pir Azizur Rahman Hazarvi, president of the Jamia Darul Uloom Zakaria, Islamabad and patron of JUI-F Islamabad said: "The senior holy mans have noted that all efforts will be made to avoid clash and confrontations with the government and the state institutions."

Recovered cases aren't always reported. For example in Germany this is not mandatory but they do it now, hence the large numbers of recovered cases.

#3 AC, if you think Pak authorities fudge the relevant stats, compare Sweden to Israel, or Germany, or even USA.
My theory, Swedes practiced affirmative action in med school admissions too long and too assiduously.
