The family of a micro-preemie who weighed just 1 pound, 5 ounces at birth celebrated the child's one-year birthday on Jan. 10 after the little boy spent 155 stays in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) — defying all odds.
"He was under a pound-and-a-half and 23 weeks and two days," Samantha Smith, a neonatal nurse practitioner at Pediatrix Neonatology of Texas and Ascension Seton Medical Center in Austin, told Fox News Digital.
"So he was kind of on the edge of viability, which is about 22 weeks," she said.
While tanks and fighters tend to win public attention, the fighting in Ukraine has done a lot to remind us of the critical role played by the infantry. Those vehicles, so critical to both sides have, however, been lost in extreme numbers - with no vehicle on the Russian side having suffered more visually confirmed losses than the BMP-2.
Now, it seems, the floodgates are opening on the supply of Western IFVs to Ukraine. In this video I look at these vehicles, their employment in Ukraine, and suggest that despite being lost in large numbers - that they will remain critical in the fighting to come.

Why do they use spike proteins?
For COVID-19 vaccines, all of the approved vaccines so far used the spike protein. The spike protein is located on the outside of a coronavirus and is how SARS-CoV-2 (the coronavirus) enters human cells. Its location on the outside of the virus makes it so the immune system can recognize it easily.
The spike protein is unique to SARS-CoV-2 — it doesn't look like other proteins your body makes. So antibodies created against the spike protein won't harm your body, they will only target coronavirus.
How long mRNA lasts in the body
The Pfizer and Moderna vaccines work by introducing mRNA (messenger RNA) into your muscle cells. The cells make copies of the spike protein and the mRNA is quickly degraded (within a few days). The cell breaks the mRNA up into small harmless pieces. mRNA is very fragile; that's one reason why mRNA vaccines must be so carefully preserved at very low temperatures.
How long do spike proteins last in the body?
The Infectious Disease Society of America (IDSA) estimates that the spike proteins that were generated by COVID-19 vaccines last up to a few weeks, like other proteins made by the body. The immune system quickly identifies, attacks and destroys the spike proteins because it recognizes them as not part of you. This "learning the enemy" process is how the immune system figures out how to defeat the real coronavirus. It remembers what it saw and when you are exposed to coronavirus in the future it can rapidly mount an effective immune response.
The Novavax vaccine introduces the actual protein into your body to produce an immune response similar to many other vaccines currently in use.
Where does the vaccine go?
Here's a peer-reviewed study that shows where intramuscular vaccines (which all three of the COVID-19 vaccines are) travel in macaques (a type of monkey). Vaccines mostly remain near the site of injection (the arm muscle) and local lymph nodes.
This makes sense: Lymph nodes produce white blood cells and antibodies to protect us from disease. A key part of the lymphatic system, lymph nodes also clean up fluids and remove waste materials. Finding pieces of spike protein in the lymph nodes is completely normal, because lymph nodes act as the trash removal service for the body. That means the vaccine did its job (made spike proteins, which caused the creation of antibodies) and will be cleared from the body.
Another peer-reviewed study tested exactly where an mRNA vaccine went in mice. Most of the mRNA vaccine stayed in the injection site muscle — where you get the shot. Look at Table 1. A lot of mRNA vaccine was found in local lymph nodes, which peaked about eight hours after the shot was given. A much smaller amount of mRNA vaccine went to farther away lymph nodes.
Can the COVID-19 vaccines change your DNA?
No. COVID-19 vaccines cannot change your DNA.
DNA is stored in the nucleus of your cells. mRNA vaccines do their work outside of the nucleus (in a space called the cytoplasm) and have not been observed to interact with the nucleus. The cell breaks down and gets rid of the mRNA soon after it's finished using the instructions.

SH, I certainly don't know why some people where were vaccinated are dying, but I wonder if the body's response to the vaccine in some susceptible people leads to clot formation. Some people's inflammatory response to infection or a vaccine can be worse than the infection itself.

I wonder who funded this study. When a doctor tries to prove otherwise he is immediately defunded, slandered and sued. This may be true, probably not, but the facts are in. The shot killed people, it is not killing more people than COVID kills. People are just falling over dead months and years after the shot. Athletes and kids are the only groups being tracked right now and the numbers are crazy. In the last 30 years we have had approx 38 athletes die each year die on the field. In the last two years we are averaging 550 per year. ALL of the athletes have had the shot. So my question is why are these scientists spouting this propaganda and not working to find out the why of all these deaths? Why is it DARPA knew about the positive effects of Ivermectin and why was their a disinformation campaign calling it horse paste. And lastly, They are hiding some truths there in plain sight. They claim all approved vaccines have spike proteins. The Johnson and Johnson vaccine did not.

Anyone remember that comet cult back in the 90's? You'd think that after the comet came and went they'd have reevaluated their convictions. Instead the opposite happened. They became move devout. [NY Post] Social media users were shocked and outraged over a recent anti-Israel rally put on by pro-Palestinian protestors at the University of Michigan this week.
The question is whether this was the bright idea of the Muslim Students Association (Muslim Brotherhood), BLM/Antifa (Black Bloc anarcho-communist syndicate), or the local Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS, a project of the PLO) chapter before pulling in the others because it’s all about intersectionality nowadays.
Clips of the protest depicted marchers, chanting "Intifada, Intifada! Long live the Intifada" a call to violent overthrow of the Jewish state inspired by Palestinian riots and rebellions against Israel in the late 80s, early 90s, and early 2000s.
"There is only one solution!" a female marcher was seen chanting, as the crowd behind her responded, "Intifada! Revolution!
Marchers, seen walking around the Ann Arbor campus screaming into bullhorns and waving Palestinian flags, were also heard chanting the infamous anti-Israel call to arms: "From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free!"
Media reported that the antisemitic rally was held to protest Vice President Kamala Harris’ Thursday visit to the campus, where she gave a speech on climate policy, and student activism. The protestors appeared to be standing against U.S. government support for the state of Israel.
Another video depicted the marchers outside of campus building in which Harris was giving her speech, saying, "Not another nickel, not another dime, no more money for Israel’s crimes."
The blatant call to overthrow Israel disturbed prominent Twitter users, who were stunned that such sentiment was expressed so freely on a major American college campus.
Jewish Journal columnist Blake Flayton tweeted, "At the University of Michigan, a call to murder Jews."
Rep. Jared Moskovitz, R-Fla., spoke to the shocking nature of the rally, tweeting, "Using Hitler’s word ’solution’ is intentional here. Israel has a right to exist. We will never compromise that. The Jewish people have a right to exist. We will ensure."
Free Beacon reporter Joe Gabriel Simonson mocked the protesters, tweeting, "Loser activists think this is an intifada."

[IsraelTimes] Cops still searching for two more Neturei Karta members, who could face lengthy prison spells if convicted of supporting terror and illegally entering Area A of West Bank.
Police on Thursday said officers arrested a man who entered the Jenin refugee camp in the northern West Bank earlier this week along with two other members of the fringe anti-Zionist, ultra-Orthodox sect Neturei Karta, and met with Paleostinians from local terror groups.
Elhanan Lax, 38, from the central city of Petah Tikva, was detained on suspicion of "supporting and associating with a terror group" and illegally entering Area A of the West Bank, where Jenin is located. Israeli citizens are barred from entering Area A, as it is under the Paleostinian Authority’s civilian and security control under the Oslo Accords.
The three men were filmed meeting with prominent Paleostinian Islamic Jihad ...created after many members of the Egyptian Moslem Brotherhood decided the organization was becoming too moderate. Operations were conducted out of Egypt until 1981 when the group was exiled after the assassination of President Anwar Sadat. They worked out of Gaza until they were exiled to Lebanon in 1987, where they clove tightly to Hezbollah. In 1989 they moved to Damascus, where they remain a subsidiary of Hezbollah... terror group officials as well as families of terrorist attackers on Monday. Jenin is seen as a hotbed of Paleostinian terrorism.
Police said they are seeking to arrest the other two men. The investigation is being led by the Beit Shemesh cop shoppe, as the pair on the lam are reported to be residents of the city or of Jerusalem. The trio could face lengthy prison spells if convicted of supporting terror.
Police in a statement slammed their "serious and irresponsible conduct contrary to the law."
"Whether this stems from an unacceptable bad boy ideology or because of religious extremism, or otherwise, it will be handled with decisiveness and with zero tolerance by police," the statement added.
Neturei Karta opposes the modern State of Israel on religious grounds, regularly protesting against the Jewish state, and its members have met with Holocaust deniers and leaders of the Iranian government in the past.

A Paleostinian man was rubbed out by Israeli troops early Thursday during an arrest raid in the Qalandiya refugee camp north of Jerusalem, Paleostinian health officials said.
The Israel Defense Forces said troops had entered the camp to arrest wanted Paleostinians and seize illegal firearms.
"During the activity, suspects hurled stones and cinder blocks from rooftops at the forces in a way that endangered the lives of the troops, who responded with riot dispersal means and live fire," the IDF said, adding that one suspect was hit.
The Paleostinian Authority Health Ministry said 41-year-old Samir Awni Harbi Aslan was shot in the chest during the raid.
Footage posted to social media purported to show Aslan maimed and lying on the ground, surrounded by soldiers. He was later taken by Paleostinians and his death was declared at a nearby medical center, according to Paleostinian media.
The IDF said troops arrested six wanted Paleostinians and seized an M16 assault rifle, weapon parts, ammunition, and money allegedly intended for terror use in the camp.
Aslan was the third Paleostinian killed by Israeli forces in a day, after an alleged Paleostinian stabber was rubbed out in the South Hebron Hills on Wednesday afternoon and a Paleostinian gunman was killed in festivities with the IDF in Nablus in the morning.
In a separate raid on Thursday morning, the IDF, Border Police, and Shin Bet security agency said troops arrested a member of the Lion’s Den terror group in the West Bank city of Nablus as local button men attempted to target the forces.
Forces from an elite Border Police unit detained Iyad an-Nasser Shbaro, 33, along with four other suspects, and seized two makeshift submachine guns and an bomb, according to the joint statement.
Clashes erupted in the city during the raid. The IDF said troops returned fire at button men, adding that several suspects were hit.
The Paleostinian Authority Health Ministry said seven Paleostinians were brought to a hospital in Nablus as a result of the festivities. Their conditions were described as stable.
The IDF said another 11 Paleostinians were arrested elsewhere across the West Bank overnight, with some violent mostly peaceful incidents.
In the Deheishe refugee camp near Bethlehem, the IDF said Paleostinians hurled Molotov cocktails and stones at troops, who responded with riot dispersal means.
In the northern West Bank village of Wadi al-Far’a, Paleostinians hurled an bomb and stones at troops, the IDF said.
And in the nearby village of Raba, the IDF said troops seized a makeshift submachine gun.
The IDF said the 22 Paleostinians who were arrested in the West Bank over suspected terror activities were taken to be questioned by the Shin Bet security agency.

Two Paleostinians were killed on Thursday amid festivities with Israeli troops during a daytime military raid in the West Bank city of Qabatiya, south of Jenin, the military and Paleostinian health officials said.
Border Police officers entered Qabatiya to arrest Muhammad Alawneh, a wanted Paleostinian allegedly involved in terror activities and planning further attacks, according to a joint statement by police, the military, and the Shin Bet security agency.
The statement said that Alawneh and an additional suspect expeditiously departed at a goodly pace as troops sought to arrest him. The officers opened fire as they arrested Alawneh, and the second suspect was hit by the troops’ gunfire.
Another armed man shot up troops from a passing vehicle amid the operation, the statement said. The soldiers returned fire, hitting the man, before seizing his M16 assault rifle.
The statement added that several more Paleostinians, who allegedly hurled stones at the troops during the raid, were shot.
According to the Paleostinian Authority Health Ministry, Habib Mohammed Abdul Rahman Kamil, 25, was shot in the head by the troops during the festivities in the area and later died.
A second Paleostinian, 18-year-old Abdul Hadi Fakhri Youssef Nazzal, died several hours after being critically hurt in the festivities, the ministry said.
It was not immediately clear if two slain Paleostinians were involved in the gunfire, the violent mostly peaceful riots, or if one of them was the second suspect that initially fled with Alawneh.
The ministry said another three Paleostinians were maimed in the festivities.
In a statement, a local wing of the Paleostinian Islamic Jihad claimed to have targeted troops in the area.
No Israeli soldiers or officers were hurt during the raid, officials said.
Kamil and Nazzal were the fourth and fifth Paleostinians killed by Israeli forces in less than two days, after a man was rubbed out after allegedly hurling cinderblocks at troops in the Qalandiya refugee camp early Thursday, an alleged Paleostinian stabber was rubbed out in the South Hebron Hills on Wednesday afternoon and a Paleostinian gunman was killed in festivities with the IDF in Nablus in the morning.
Samir Awni Harbi Aslan, 41, was killed as troops detained six wanted Paleostinians in the refugee camp north of Jerusalem early Thursday. The IDF said another 11 Paleostinians were arrested elsewhere across the West Bank overnight, with some violent mostly peaceful incidents.
In a separate raid on Thursday morning, the IDF, Border Police, and Shin Bet security agency said troops arrested a member of the Lion’s Den terror group in the West Bank city of Nablus as local button men attempted to target the forces.
Forces from an elite Border Police unit detained Iyad an-Nasser Shbaro, 33, along with four other suspects, and seized two makeshift submachine guns and an bomb, according to the joint statement.
In all, 22 Paleostinians who were arrested in the West Bank over suspected terror activities were taken to be questioned by the Shin Bet security agency.

Israeli troops came under fire in two separate instances near Nablus on Wednesday night, the military said at the tail end of a tension-filled day in the West Bank.
According to the Israel Defense Forces, Paleostinian button men first fired a hail of bullets at a military post near the town of Jit, west of Nablus, without causing any injuries.
The IDF said that a short while later, shots were fired at another military post that overlooks the northern West Bank city.
No soldiers were hurt in the attacks, according to the military.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility by local terror groups for the attacks Wednesday.
The IDF was probing if the two shootings were carried out by the same button men.
In recent months, Paleostinian button men have repeatedly targeted military posts, troops operating along the West Bank security barrier, Israeli settlements and civilians on the roads.
The attacks Wednesday night came hours after an Israeli man was stabbed and moderately maimed in a suspected terror attack in the South Hebron Hills area of the West Bank. The alleged Paleostinian stabber was rubbed out.
Earlier Wednesday, Paleostinian button men fired dozens of bullets at the Salem military base and nearby checkpoint on the security barrier in the northern West Bank. No officers or soldiers were hurt in the incident, and Border Police officers fired back at the button men, who fled toward the Jenin area.
In the pre-dawn hours of Wednesday, a Paleostinian gunman was rubbed out during festivities with Israeli troops in Nablus’s Balata refugee camp, the military and Paleostinian health officials said.

Several men then chased Meslet down a street and slapped him. He was not seriously hurt and managed to flee from the scene as the men banged on his car.

The only all-African state not in the AU is Morocco. Established in 2002, the AU is the successor to the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), which was even less successful... Commission Chairman Moussa Faki, noted that the ENDF and KDF contingent in African Union Transition Mission in Somalia [ATMIS] have shown both leadership and commitment around Kismayo ...a port city in the southern Lower Juba province of Somalia, at the extreme southern end of the country (always assuming Somalia can be called a country). It is the commercial capital of the autonomous Jubaland region.... and its environs.
Jubaland falls under Sectors II and VI of ATMIS and probably witnessed the most resilient offensive against al-Shabaab in the early years when the KDF was first reported in Somalia. Under Operation Sledge Hammer in 2012, the KDF managed to liberate Kismayo from the hands of the al-Shabaab.
During the visit to Kismayo to assess progress made by the soldiers, Mohammed El-Amine Souef met Brigadier General Lukas Kutto, and Jubaland’s Second Vice President, Abdulkadir Haji Mohamud, and other senior state-level officials, for briefings on the security and political situation in the region.
"I had productive discussions with the Vice President and am satisfied we are heading in the same direction with the same commitment — the fight against al-Shabaab," Souef said.
He assured the soldiers and regional administration of Puntland ...a region in northeastern Somalia, centered on Garowe in the Nugaal province. Its leaders declared the territory an autonomous state in 1998. Puntland and the equally autonomous Somaliland seem to have avoided the clan rivalries and warlordism that have typified the rest of Somalia, which puts both places high on the list for Islamic subversion... of support as the teams push for stability in the Horn of Africa nation. Jubaland, he said, plays an integral role in the promotion of peace and tranquility within the Horn of Africa, particularly along the borders of Kenya and Æthiopia.
"This will be done not only by Jubaland leadership with the Federal Government of Somalia as well as ATMIS. The African Union mission will provide support as mandated by the UN Security Council Resolutions 2628 and 2670 of last year."
Jubaland Vice President Abdulkadir Haji Mohamud reaffirmed the readiness of his administration to conduct military offensives against the AlShabaab with the support of ATMIS. The AU representative was briefed on the progress made by the soldiers on all fronts from Dhobley to Kismayo.
"We agreed to speed up the fight against the terror group al-Shabaab and ATMIS has taken a strong position on this issue. We are happy with this and our meeting went well," Haji Mohamud said. "Now? Lunch!"
Currently, KDF has close to 3,500 soldiers in Somalia who are deployed on a rotational basis annually just like ENDF which has close to 4,500 soldiers. It is envisaged that in the coming three years, Somalia would have stabilized and local soldiers taken over security responsibilities from ATMIS.
[Garowe] The US Africa Command is set to rigorous training in Somalia's breakaway region of Somaliland, which will also incorporate various military teams from across Africa as part of security preparedness on matters of counter-terrorism in the continent.
On Friday, the Combined Joint Task Force—Horn of Africa [CJTF-HOA] personnel conducted a site survey visit to the port of Berbera. The visit comes in advance of the U.S.-led multinational military training exercise Justified Accord scheduled for February 2023, Washington noted.
The US has been spirited in maintaining close security and development cooperation with African states amid pressure from China and Russia whose military presence in Africa is increasing. Previously, the US has expressed concerns over the new approach by Beijing and Moscow in Africa.
"Justified Accord is designed to increase multinational cooperation in crisis response and counterterrorism operations and prepare regional partners for UN and African Union ...a union consisting of 53 African states, most run by dictators of one flavor or another. The only all-African state not in the AU is Morocco. Established in 2002, the AU is the successor to the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), which was even less successful... -mandated missions," read a statement published by the US embassy in Somalia's capital Mogadishu.
"In addition to the port of Berbera, Justified Accord exercises will take place in Botswana, Djibouti, Kenya, Rwanda, and Uganda with the participation from 20 partner nations, including Somalia," the statement by the US army further read.
The U.S. military routinely surveys potential operating locations to prepare for contingencies and exercise readiness or adjust force posture as directed. Such exercises are carried out on a rotational basis across Africa and it is the first time Somalia is privileged to host the teams.
Interestingly, the training comes at the time Somaliland is facing challenges at Las Anod town in which over 20 non-combatants were killed by security forces from Somaliland following protests after the liquidation of an upcoming local politician. The scenes were widely condemned by politicians including Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.
Somaliland, which claimed its own independence from Somalia in 1991 and has since been fighting for international recognition, is also facing local political unrest with the opposition accusing outgoing President Muse Bihi Abdi of failing to organize presidential polls which were scheduled for in November 2022.
The US military has been active in Somalia for the last six months after their reinstatement moments following their unprecedented withdrawal in 2021. The soldiers have been helping the Somali National Army and the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia [ATMIS] with aerial surveillance in the al-Shabaab ...... the Islamic version of the old Somali warlord... war.

Somalia: Al Shabaab still the major criminal organization in parts of the country, but with less foreign aid, it’s less profitable, and the Somalis are becoming more serious about actually governing themselves.
Turkey: President the neo-Ottoman Sultan Recep Tayip Erdogan I “the much beloved” is increasingly causing mischief beyond Turkey’s borders, resulting in economic and diplomatic damage at home. Next elections this year, for what that’ll be worth.
Yemen: Houthis are losing, but even with reduced Iranian support refuse to admit it. Among the 2/3rds of the population that is Sunni, some tribes still support Al Qaeda and ISIS, others would like to split up the country again.

Philippines: Jihadis and Communist threats reduced, with Marcos, Jr. continuing Duerte’s policies. Sudan: Both Sudan and South Sudan have calmed down. Syria: Assad chose Russia, the Arab League, and even Israel over Iran, though Turkey is still hunting Kurds. Iran is constrained due problems at home. Thailand: Moslem separatists in the south have lost popular support.
Aside from the Russian war in Ukraine, the rest of the world is a lot more peaceful than the headlines or Internet chatter would have you believe. Like most major trends, world peace just kind of sneaked up on everyone and a lot of people have not noticed.
Global Islamic terrorism-related deaths have fallen by over 70 percent since 2014, when there were 35,000. Global terrorist deaths hit 19,000 in 2017, under 16,000 for 2018 and that downward trend continued into 2022 but the headline news does not cover trends like that.

My guess is that the documents are illegal, surreptitious copies of briefing, analysis docs available to Biden et al during his time as VP. Given the early news reporting of topics about Iran, UK, China and Ukraine, and multiple TS/SCI classification, their subjects seem likely to correspond to areas of business/corruption/coercion/influence for the Biden Crime Syndicate.
Since the originals were likely accounted for by the Classified Doc custodians involved, no formal paper chase/audit would follow. BUT, those around Biden et al, KNEW of the criminal copies and who had them and made them, it was part of the insurance/control options for the powers behind the Puppet Show. As long as the Telepromter-In-Chief reads the scripts with passable levels of bumbiing, and the pretenses of actual Presidential Power he displayed were all ego-centric pretense for Jojo, the entire demokrat deep state played along with mere smug, knowing glances about who was really in charge. The Magic Kenyan visit to the White House and the video of Biden wandering alone trying to be noticed as Baraq gushed and backslapped, told it perfectly.
Then, as the reality of how much they were at risk, and how much more they could use the Presidency for personal gain drove the Biden's to decide to break the deal that made them the Potemkin Village Administration, and announced a run for a second term, the very public hammer emerges. Copies would make sense with respect to why they weren’t tracking things down. Still, I can’t see Joe going Pink Panther style taking the documents to the copier himself. At this point, I doubt that he could operate the machine. Back then, I picture him making an emergency call to Hunter for some printer jam clearance instructions. He seems more likely that he had an intern make the copies. Regardless, there are procedures for handling classified material that would have prevented Joe from doing what he did. Everyone that worked with him should be making a trip to talk to Jim Jordan. The Special Council will isolate this just to the target like Comey’s kid did with Maxwell.

They believe more than 40 different types of firearms were used. Sources added it’s a miracle no one was killed or seriously hurt.
“It literally was like, pop, pop,” one mother who lives at the Enclave at Breckenridge apartments in Hikes Point said. The woman did not wish to be identified.
The incident, which happened New Years Eve, has not been reported by the media or spoken about publicly by LMPD, who had to also deal with six homicides within two days of the shootout.
Sources reached out about the incident to let the public know of the violent reality the city faces.
The complex’s buildings are riddled with bullet holes. Multiple windows still have bullet holes through them, as do a number of cars parked that night.
The mother said she went into survival mode seeing the flashing gunfire.
“I got down on the floor, crawled into our kids room, and my daughter lays right next to the window where it was happened,” she said. “So I grabbed her out of the bed, put her on the ground and laid on the ground until it was over.”

The ATF is assisting LMPD in the investigation as federal partners.

Any weapons with “stabilizing braces” or similar attachments that constitute rifles under the NFA must be registered no later than 120 days after date of publication in the Federal Register; or the short barrel removed and a 16-inch or longer rifle barrel attached to the firearm; or permanently remove and dispose of, or alter, the “stabilizing brace” such that it cannot be reattached; or the firearm is turned in to your local ATF office. Or the firearm is destroyed.
In a more expansive explanation of the rule, the ATF pointed out options that individuals and FFLs (Federal Firearm License holders) possess if they are currently in possession of an AR pistol with a stabilizer brace.

A Canadian company may have uncovered a complex clandestine supply chain that allowed one of its motors to somehow end up as part of an Iranian drone used by Russian forces in Ukraine, Canada's National Post reported Thursday.
The company in question is the Quebec-based Bombardier Recreational Products (BRP), which manufactures recreational vehicles like engines, motorcycles, ATVs and snowmobiles. In particular, its Ski-Doo brand of personal snowmobiles is so iconic and beloved in Canada that it was ranked by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) as one of the greatest Canadian inventions back in 2007.
The company is by no means an arms manufacturer or defense contractor, having sold off its military arm in 2003, and its Rotex engine, which is made by its Austrian subsidiary, is intended mainly for civilian use.
However, a report from back in September revealed that an Iranian-made Mohajer-6 drone shot down by Ukrainian forces contained a Rotax 912 airplane engine, the National Post reported.
And this isn't the only time Rotax engines were found in Iranian drones.
According to a report in the Iran Press News Agency, the Islamic Republic's Shahed-129 drone is also powered by a Rotax engine.
BRP confirmed in a statement that the engine is indeed theirs. What they are unsure of, though, is how it got there, since they didn't sell it to either Iran or Russia.
HOW DID A CANADIAN COMPANY'S ROTAX ENGINE END UP IN AN IRANIAN DRONE USED BY RUSSIA IN UKRAINE?
It should be noted that while BRP may not sell engines to Iran or for military use, it wasn't always that way.
The Canadian firm did, in fact, sell drones to Iran up until ceasing operations in 2019, the National Post reported.
Further, there is a history of Rotax engines being used in drones.
Back in 2020, BRP announced it would stop sending engines to what it dubbed "countries with unclear usage," which followed reports that Rotax engines were being used in drones utilized by Azerbaijan against Armenian troops during the Nagorno-Karabakh war, the CBC reported at the time.
The company at the time claimed this was something they only just heard of and were unaware their technology was being used in military drones.
The fact that they are being used in drones at all does not stem from their effectiveness, but rather their very cheap price – since they are marketed for civilians – and the fact that, as civilian products, they are not subject to some of the strict arms control export regulations that other products with military applications would have, as experts noted to the CBC.
In Canada, some items are listed as "dual-use" items, meaning they have the potential to be used as weapons or other military-purpose items.
If they also qualify as having clear military uses, they are subject to heavy regulation in both Canada and the European Union, though the EU does not regulate all dual-use items.
Since Rotax engines are made in Austria and not Canada, they are subject to EU export controls, not Canadian, and EU rules are not as specific with regulations regarding engines, Austrian Labor and Economy Ministry spokesperson Alexandra Perl said, according to the CBC.
She further explained that part of these difficulties stems from the logistical impossibility of actually regulating such a broad category. Dual-use is a very broad label and can include everything from engines to smartphones, making regulation for everything outright impossible.

But regardless, if the Rotax engine in question was still never sold by BRP to Iran or Russia, how did it get there?
This is something the company is being tight-lipped about at the moment, claiming it may jeopardize their investigation, according to the National Post.
However, it should also be noted that this Canadian firm isn't alone in discovering that somehow its products were being used in Iranian drones in Russia.
In late November, The Wall Street Journal reported that Israeli-made infrared lenses, along with over 200 other components from the US, Europe and other allied nations, have been found in Iranian drones used by Russia in its invasion of Ukraine.
About three-quarters of the components of the drones were American-made while other parts were made by Japanese, Israeli and German firms, along with others, according to Ukrainian documents shown to WSJ by the Kyiv-based nonprofit Independent Anti-Corruption Commission (NAKO).
Israel has long had a hostile diplomatic relationship with Iran and has no exports there, so how did Israeli parts end up in an Iranian drone?
According to The Wall Street Journal report, many of the parts found in the drones are not under export controls and can be easily bought online and shipped through other countries to Iran.
In addition, a SkyNews report from early November claimed that Russia managed to give several advanced stolen Western weapons to Iran. These weapons had originally been sent to the battlefield to help Ukrainian forces, but Russia managed to get its hands on it.
These weapons, along with $140 million, were supposedly sent as payment for a shipment of Iranian suicide drones.
Interestingly enough, some, such as then-opposition leader Benjamin Netanyahu, warned that some weapons sent by the West to Ukraine could end up in Iranian hands.
Both Russia and Iran are under heavy sanctions from the West, and as such often struggle to trade with Western firms.
The exact nature of how Canada's Rotax engine wound up in Iranian drones in Russia remains to be seen, and it may have to wait until BRP unveils their investigation.

[Breitbart] China’s state-run Global Times on Thursday unloaded a pair of hit pieces on the new Republican Speaker of the House, Kevin McCarthy (R-CA).
The Chinese propagandists were incensed that McCarthy’s caucus dared to establish a select committee to investigate the “multifaceted threats” from China.
“Chinese experts said on Wednesday that the new panel, which is called House Select Committee on the Strategic Competition between the U.S. and the Communist Party of China, has a strong ideological overtone, and China should be wary of the more aggressive adventurism and destructive behavior of American politicians,” the Global Times railed.
The Global Times suggested President Joe Biden could curry some favor with Beijing by “managing [the] Republican-created crisis” and resisting any urge to “race in[to] the anti-China competition with the extreme Republicans.”
For all of its crude efforts to paint the select committee as a partisan Republican gambit to exploit Sinophobia for partisan gain, the Global Times was forced to admit the vote in favor of creating the committee was a lopsided 365-65, with most Democrats voting yes. The committee will include nine Republicans and seven Democrats.
“Chinese experts said the committee may be endowed with the ability to raise the voice of anti-China public opinion, and may even send its members to visit Taiwan for provocation, and conspire with forces secretly engaged in subverting the Chinese government to undermine the Chinese political system,” the Global Times hyperventilated.
To their credit, the Chinese propagandists made it roughly halfway through the first article before they began harping on the similarities between Speaker McCarthy’s last name and that of Senator Joe McCarthy.
The second overheated Global Times piece on the House China committee on Thursday led with that, right in the headline: “The Fire McCarthy Set Is Like McCarthyism Reincarnated.” This was accompanied by a crude cartoon of Kevin McCarthy thumbing through a book titled “MCCARTHYISM, by Joe McCarthy,” in case any of the slower readers in the Global Times’ audience missed the point.
This second screed accused McCarthy of taking out his frustrations on poor, innocent China after experiencing “the humiliation and setback of a ‘once-in-a-century’ multiple rounds of elections for the House speakership.”
“The evil fire he ignited is likely to flourish, but the intent of putting up a stunt is evident,” the editors sputtered.
The Global Times fretted that the new House committee will “magnify small matters and seek every opportunity to create noise in China-U.S. relations” to draw attention to itself – and that would make Kevin McCarthy just like old Tailgunner Joe:
Just look at McCarthy’s remarks at the House: “One of my greatest worries about the future is that we fall behind Communist China.” “The danger posed by our dependence on China is dire.” “China has exported oppression, aggression, and anti-Americanism.” Is there a sense of space-time confusion?
If we change just a few words, this lurid speech could serve as a political speech for the late “McCarthy,” the more infamous Joseph McCarthy. He fits neatly into the Chinese Communist Party’s endlessly repeated talking point that all suspicion of Beijing’s behavior and agenda emanates from sinister Americans eager to launch a “new Cold War.”
“The U.S. public opinion rarely links the two ‘McCarthys.’ Is this deliberate evasion, or indifference and amnesia of history?” the Global Times wondered, ignoring the third possibility that it is too dumb of a talking point for even the current state of American political discourse.
The Global Times was too enraptured by the McCarthy name coincidence to spend much time on the actual chairman of the Select Committee on the Strategic Competition Between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party, Rep. Mike Gallagher (R-WI), aside from briefly dismissing him as “well-known for his anti-China stance.”
China will surely get around to unloading on Gallagher because he is the real threat to the Chinese Communist Party’s interests. He said on Tuesday he was “very excited” to see the vote in favor of establishing his committee was “overwhelmingly bipartisan.”
“I do think, to the extent possible, if Congress can speak with a unified voice on this issue and if, to the extent possible, politics can stop at the water’s edge, our foreign policy is stronger for it,” Gallagher said.
“There were brutal, meaningful differences and disagreements between the parties and within the parties in the first decade of the old Cold War – but by and large, we were able to build out a foundation for containment that served us well over the course of the next four decades,” Gallagher said last week, dropping the kind of sound bite that could give Chinese Communist editorialists a stroke.
The Global Times might be focused on McCarthy at the moment because it wants to signal House Democrats they can expect plenty of support from Beijing if they turn Gallagher’s committee into a partisan circus. Some of them are chomping at the bit to do exactly that, as could be seen from the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel’s coverage of the vote to establish the House Select committee:
Wisconsin Democratic U.S. Reps. Mark Pocan and Gwen Moore were among the Democrats who opposed the measure. Both members indicated to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel they were concerned the committee would be used for partisan politics, and Pocan in a statement accused the committee of being set up “to score political points.”

[Breitbart] The government of Uganda on Thursday terminated a Chinese company’s contract to build a major railroad to Kenya and is now considering a replacement deal with a Turkish firm.
Uganda booted the Chinese contractor because China was not willing to loan Uganda the money needed to complete the project.
Uganda signed a deal with the China Harbor and Engineering Company (CHEC) in 2015 to build the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR), a massive project under China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) that would span Kenya and Uganda. The SGR is among the largest infrastructure projects contemplated by either country in the post-colonial era.
The Kenya side of the project has been very controversial, dogged by questions about cost overruns, poor treatment of Kenyan workers by Chinese corporations, and if the railroad can ever generate enough income to pay off the huge Chinese loans that financed it.
A fresh storm of controversy broke out in Kenya in November when long-secret contracts were finally exposed to the public in a bid to dispel rumors that Kenya staked its precious port of Mombasa as collateral for more loans from Chinese banks. The documents seem to have allayed fears that the port is at risk, but they raised many more questions about financing terms that lopsidedly favored China, and they made it clear the Kenyan government has not been honest with its citizens about the SGR project.
A senior Ugandan official told Reuters on Friday that China has not come through with the loans Uganda needs to complete its SGR railway.
“One of the obligations under the contract with the Chinese was that they were supposed to help Uganda source financing which has really not come true,” the Ugandan official said.
“So now the discussions are with Yapi Merkezi which has shown interest,” the official continued. “There’s no contract with them yet, but there’s an MoU [Memorandum of Understanding] and things are moving fast.”
Yapi Merkezi is a Turkish construction firm that has experience building standard-gauge railways in Africa. The company signed a $1.9 billion contract in December 2021 to build the third phase of a major railway in Tanzania. The railway was designed to link up with Kenya’s SGR, so the specifications for the rails are identical. According to Reuters’ source, Uganda turned to Yapi Merkezi because it was impressed with the work it completed in Tanzania.
Ugandan project coordinator Perez Wamburu told Bloomberg News on Thursday the Chinese contract was canceled because “things weren’t working out.”

The new defence system, which is a medium-range ground-based air defence system, will be purchased from the United States and given to the Ukrainian armed forces for their ongoing conflict with Russia, the National Post newspaper reports.
“We have committed over $1 billion in military assistance to Ukraine, and today we are moving forward with the first Canadian donation of an air defence system to Ukraine. Canada will continue to collaborate with the United States, as well as other Allies and partners, to address Ukraine’s defence priorities in the short and long term — including with high-capability equipment such as the NASAMS,” the defence minister said.
The Canadian armed forces, meanwhile, have been calling on the federal government to procure similar air defence for Canada since 2012, when its previous system was retired.
The Trudeau government previously announced in 2018 that it would procure an air defence system for Canada but it is yet to do so.
When questioned on how the government was able to raise cash to pay for Ukraine’s air defence when Canada lacked a similar system of its own, the defence ministry claimed that it was continuing “to work towards the procurement of Ground-Based Air Defence Equipment for the Canadian Armed Forces — and Minister Anand is committed to getting this done, as outlined in our defence policy.”

ISRAEL'S ITAMAR BEN-GVIR VOWS TO FIGHT CRIME WITH SHIN BET
Around the same time, National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir said he planned on asking Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for permission to mobilize the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) in order to take on Israel's crime syndicates – something that was included as part of the coalition deal between the Likud and Otzma Yehudit.

WHO ARE ISRAEL'S NOTORIOUS JARUSHI CRIME FAMILY?
The Jarushi family is one of Israel's most dangerous and violent crime families, having waged a violent blood feud with a rival crime syndicate in 2021 as well as another violent war with the rival Qarajah family in the 1990s that required government intervention.
Based out of Ramle, the Jarushi is one of Israel's oldest, strongest and most stable crime syndicates, ranked alongside the Abu Latif and Hariri families as the leading Arab sector crime families.

In addition, the Jarushi have also been known for their ties with the Likud Party, with a corruption probe in 2017 highlighting that one of their members, Hussam Jarushi, had allegedly helped cover the debts of then-coalition chairman Likud MK David Bitan. The probe also implied the involvement of Bitan's wife Hagit and then-Rishon Lezion mayor Dov Zur.
It is suspected that Bitan advanced the interests of organized crime figures, such as Hussam Jarushi, in exchange for assisting him in erasing alleged debts to the criminal entities.
Bitan was forced to resign as coalition chairman due to the incident, though he had insisted on refusing to answer police questioning and he still sits as an MK to this day.
However, Bitan was officially indicted in 2021 by then-attorney-general Avichai Mandelblit on charges of bribery, money laundering, fraud, breach of trust and tax offenses totaling NIS 715,000.

As is now known. The ATF & FBI claimed reasons for the raid were false, and the Fed's could have arrested DK and other Branch Davidian leaders many times in Waco prior to the raid.
