Trump calls for Justice Department to give lawmakers access to documents on informant
Opens to typical CNN anti-Trump 'Deep State' tirade.
[CNN] President Donald Trump on Saturday called for his Justice Department to allow members of Congress to review documents related to an FBI informant who spoke to some of Trump's advisers during the 2016 presidential campaign.

"If the FBI or DOJ was infiltrating a campaign for the benefit of another campaign, that is a really big deal," Trump wrote on Twitter. "Only the release or review of documents that the House Intelligence Committee (also, Senate Judiciary) is asking for can give the conclusive answers. Drain the Swamp!"

The tweet, which fosters an unsupported theory circulating on Capitol Hill and conservative media outlets about an intelligence "informant" spying on the Trump campaign, appears to be the first time Trump has called for the department to allow lawmakers to see the documents. It sets up another possible battle between the President and his own Justice Department. Trump has attacked the department's leaders over their handling of the Russia investigation, including Attorney General Jeff Sessions' recusal from that probe, and criticized the FBI's investigation into Hillary Clinton's private email server.

Texas School Shooting Suspect ‘Weirdly Nonemotional' After Confessing to Massacre
[Breitbart] The 17-year-old suspect in the killing of ten people at Santa Fe high school in Texas has confessed, authorities say, but his motivation for the attack remains unclear.

Santa Fe High School junior Dimitrious Pagourtzis hid a shotgun and a pistol under his trenchcoat before opening fire in a first-period art class on Friday, according to an affidavit filed by police. The FBI announced Saturday that it had taken the lead in the joint investigation, at the request of local authorities.

"He gave a statement admitting to shooting multiple people inside the Santa Fe High School with the intent on killing people," the police affidavit said. "Dimitrios advised he did not shoot students he did like so he could have his story told." The attack ended when he walked out of a classroom and surrendered to police.

#4  Suicide contagion, I suspect. The publicized report of a suicide, whether within a community, by a celebrity, or even fictional, can trigger others in the community to coomit the same type of suicide. Also called copycat suicide, a suicide cluster, or the Werther effect.

And while usual localized in time and/or space — a school or the month or so following Marilyn Monroe’s death — some echo down through time. Columbine is one of those. The community appears to be deeply unhappy boys who want to go out in a blaze of glory.

#10  Until Columbine nobody had even thought of this. The widespread publicity and notoriety thoroughly opened that Pandora's Box, and started a trend that can't be easily reversed. Gun control won't help much, no matter how strict - the concept is killing, not shooting, and there are many other obvious methods available. I really believe we need a much stronger investigation of underlying psychological triggers - video game desensitization, psychiatric medications, abusive childhood homes, even vaccines, environmental hormones and antibiotics.

-Short Attention Span Theater-
Atomic City: Tunnel holding radioactive waste partially collapses in Washington state
[Guardian] A portion of a storage tunnel that contains rail cars full of radioactive waste collapsed Tuesday morning, forcing an emergency declaration at the Hanford nuclear reservation in south-eastern Washington state.

Officials detected no release of radiation and no workers were injured, said Randy Bradbury, a spokesman for the Washington state department of ecology.

There were no workers inside the tunnel when it collapsed. But nearby Hanford workers were evacuated and others who were farther away were told to remain indoors, the US Department of Energy said.

The accident occurred at a facility known as Purex, located in the middle of the sprawling Hanford site, which is half the size of Rhode Island, Bradbury said.

Hotel pools linked to many disease outbreaks
[Fox] NEW YORK - Here is something to think about before jumping into the pool on your next vacation. Hotel pools and hot tubs are breeding grounds for waterborne diseases.

A study from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention find a third of all recreational waterborne disease outbreaks occurred in hotel pools or hot tubs and water play venues.

Between 2000 and 2014 the CDC recorded nearly 500 disease outbreaks related to recreational water use that resulted in more than 27,000 illnesses and eight deaths. Hotels were the leading setting, associated with 157 of the outbreaks

Of the outbreaks with a confirmed cause, most were due to pathogens in the pool while the rest were caused by chemicals. A parasite that causes diarrhea and other gastrointestinal issues caused most of the illnesses.

Outbreaks spiked during June, July and August but they were observed to take place all year long with March being another month with a spike in cases.

Chlorine is the primary barrier to the transmission of pathogens in treated recreational water. At CDC-recommended concentrations of at least 1 ppm, free available chlorine inactivates most pathogens within minutes.

Blast, ensuing fire at Texas chemical plant injures 20, one reported missing
[PRESSTV] A fire and kaboom at a Texas chemical manufacturing plant has reportedly left one person missing and 20 others injured, officials said as cited by local news outlets.

The blast and the ensuing roaring fire occurred Saturday morning at the Kuraray America Eval factory in the city of Pasadena. The plant specialized in "chemical, fiber and resin production," according to a local TV news broadcast.

This is while the company announced in a statement posted on its official Facebook page that only six people at the plant were receiving treatment for non-life-threatening injuries and all onsite employees had been accounted for.

Factory authorities further confirmed "that a fire occurred at the company's EVAL facility in Pasadena, Texas," around 10:43 a.m. local time, adding that the fire had been put out and there was "no threat to the surrounding area."

"At the time of the incident, approximately 250 employees and contract personnel were onsite. All have been accounted for," said the official statement. "The company is fully cooperating with all local authorities and emergency response teams and will provide additional information as it becomes available and is confirmed."

China-Japan-Koreas
Let Us Decisively Cope with Psychological Campaign of Imperialists
[KCNAWATCH.CO] (Rodong Sinmun) The imperialists are resorting to crafty psychological smear campaign along with the policy of strength to topple anti-imperialist independent countries.

If one is taken in by the psychological campaign of the imperialists, one does not believe in one's own strength, loses conviction in justice and victory of one's cause and can not but surrender and turn one's coat.

The situation urgently requires to decisively cope with the imperialists' psychological campaign.

To foil the imperialists' base and vicious psychological campaign is an important way of defending the illusory sovereignty of the country and the nation and victoriously advancing the cause of global independence.

It is necessary to bring up the army and people to be strong in faith. Those with strong revolutionary faith and will are never afraid of the enemies nor will take a step backward.

The DPRK is demonstrating its might as the power of Juche despite any tempests. This is because its army and people are transparent in their faith. As they are firmly equipped with the revolutionary idea of our party, the Juche idea, and are confident of the justice of the cause of the Juche revolution and the inevitability of its victory, they are never shaken by any psychological campaign of the imperialists.

Europe
Brussels cafe serves tree bark to commemorate Holodomor
The Ukrainian leadership academy held a sidewalk cafe in Brussels near the European Parliament. Its aim was to raise awareness about the Holodomor, Stalin’s artificial famine which took the lives of at least 4 million Ukrainians in 1932-1933.

Titled UNCOUNTED since 1932, it served visitors food which was the only nutrition for Ukrainian peasants during those years after the Soviet authorities confiscated their farm produce. Afterwards, the death tolls were classified and the Holodomor itself was not mentioned during Soviet times. The Belgians were served soup from pine cones and needles, bread from mashed grass, and pancakes from tree bark – “dishes” which Ukrainians ate in order to survive. The organizers state that their intention is to raise awareness about the tragedy in the EU and achieve the recognition of Holodomor as a genocide of Ukrainians.

Great White North
The Camp of the Saints Heads for the Great White North
[PJ] And you thought The Camp of the Saints was fiction:
With only 20 rooms vacant, Toronto is within seven days of evoking an emergency plan to house the growing number of refugees settling in the city after crossing the U.S.-Canada border, Mayor John Tory says.

"We could not, cannot and should not be doing this alone. If these daily arrivals continue, as we expect them to, to some degree or another, we will be in a position within the next seven days, where we will need to open an emergency reception centre," Tory told a news conference Friday.

As of Thursday, there were 2,683 refugee claimants in the Toronto shelter system, accounting for 41 per cent of the shelter population. At the current rate of arrivals, the city expects refugees will make up 54 per cent of the spaces by November.

"We are seeing on average 10 new refugee claimants added to our shelter system each and every day. Already, we have added 1,080 motel beds to our refugee program within the shelter system," Tory said. "We have an overall responsibility to shelter people who are in need of shelter, but we’re trying to get help from other governments to establish a separate way of dealing with refugees" and avoid the capacity issues of the shelter system.

As of late April, 7,612 asylum seekers have crossed into Canada between official ports of entry this year ‐ up from 2,749 by this time in 2017.

Well, it's certainly not THEIR fault. If the Americans would just go back to assuming the position and letting people stay there, the Canadian government (I want to be careful about specifying that) could go back to making great pronouncements about how important it is to take care of these poor downtrodden refugees without, you know, having to actually DO anything about it.

Girl rescued from parents’ confinement

2.) A province of Pakistain ruled by one of the Sharif brothers
3.) A province of India. It is majority (60 percent) Sikh and Hindoo (37 percent), which means it has relatively few Moslem riots....

Commission on the Status of Women (PCSW) successfully rescued a 19-year old Pak girl from confinement by her parents and other members of her family in Lahore.

Reportedly, the girl was brought to Pakistain from Italia in February 2018 for 10 days, under false pretenses of her brother’s engagement. It later transpired that her parents wished to marry her off against her will.

While in Italia, her father had put a stop to her studies. The Italian Embassy informed the PCSW chairperson about the matter with the request to ensure safety of the girl, while the Ministry of Interior continuously followed up and provided assurance of full support. The Embassy will support the girl in case she wishes to return to Italia, where she has resided for the past 10 years.

The PCSW team and Garhi Shahu SHO located the girl’s address and recovered her, after which she was transported to a secure location. She is adamant to go back to Italia and continue her studies, so that she may pursue a career path of her own choice. The girl is safe and relieved that the PCSW, the Punjab police and the Italian Embassy reacted swiftly to rescue her.

Former Porn Star Gives Up Her Gun In Virtue Signaling Stunt, Parrots Democratic Talking Points
[The Wire] In a virtue signaling stunt on Saturday, a former porn star decided to give up her shotgun after the recent school shooting in Texas, indicating that while she supports the Second Amendment she was sick and tired of the recent acts of violence that have dominated national headlines.

In a series of tweets, Mia Khalifa claimed that she was "not against the 2nd amendment," but was against the deaths of children which led her to give up her shotgun, which she stored on the wall of her living room.

Khalifa tweeted: "They couldn’t have made it easier. Thank you, @Austin_Police for picking up my weapon for safe destruction. This may not effect anyone but, but it’s symbolic. If all of us were to #DoSomething small, eventually it will add up and change the world."
