REVEALED: Theresa May was DOOMED to fail with Brexit from the START for THIS reason
[Express] Director for the Institute of Ideas Claire Fox argued that Theresa May’s mentality towards Brexit impacted her ability to deliver on it. In an exclusive with Express.co.uk, the think tank chief explained that failure was “inevitable” if you failed to recognise the possibilities of Brexit and focussed on what the EU wanted. She added that Theresa May stuck to her belief that Brexit was a “terrible decision” made by the voters and this was reflected in her withdrawal agreement to which Mrs Fox argued was “Brexit in name only".

New Record: Obama Mentions Himself 456 Times During Berlin Townhall [Montage]
[Grabien, HT to Weasel Zippers]

President Obama was in Germany on Saturday, ostensibly to speak about "community leadership and civic engagement" on behalf of his eponymous Obama Foundation, but Berliners soon discovered his main topic of interest was ... Barack Obama.

Obama talking about himself in an almost obsessive manner is no new phenomenon, but today he shattered his own records. Over the course of a 90 minute townhall with "emerging leaders," Obama mentioned himself an eye-popping 467 times.

Here's the breakdown of his personal pronoun use (based on a rush transcript of the event):

"I" ‐ 303

"Me" ‐ 33

"My" ‐ 43

"I’d" ‐ 9

"I’m" ‐ 59

"Myself" ‐ 9

The former president's comments began on his favorite topic: himself.

Ex-spy Valerie Plame eyes run for Congress in New Mexico
[Politico] ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. ‐ Former CIA operative, author and activist Valerie Plame said Friday she is considering a 2020 run for an open U.S. congressional seat in New Mexico.

Plame told The Associated Press she is spending time with residents and will make a decision soon. The seat is currently held by Democratic U.S. Rep. Ben Ray Lujan, who is stepping down to run for U.S. Senate.

"Right now, I am going around and meeting with people," said Plame, a Democrat. "I have a lot to learn and I would like another opportunity to serve my country."

Plame had previously told media outlets she was considering the U.S. House seat or a bid for the U.S. Senate but told The AP on Friday she as looking at the House to "continue Ben Ray’s legacy."

Plame became a national figure after her identity as a CIA operative was leaked by an official in President George W. Bush’s administration in 2003 in an effort to discredit her then-husband Joe Wilson.
Should actually read "alleged" identity.
Wilson is a former diplomat who criticized Bush’s decision to invade Iraq. Plame left the agency in 2005.

Fake news repeated. It was done by a member of the Legacy Infotainment Enterprises.

Initially, she mentioned the Senate seat being vacated by the incumbent (D-NM), but I guess the party bosses had a talk with her to lower her expectations to guaranteed safe district house seat.

#6  She’s a perfect fit for the Democratic Party in its current form. From her Wikipedia page:

In September 2017, Plame tweeted a link to an article from the website Unz Review posted by retired CIA officer Philip Giraldi, titled "America's Jews Are Driving America's Wars", repeating the title of the article in her tweet.[84][85] The article argued that certain "American Jews who lack any shred of integrity" should be given a special label when appearing on television. Amid criticism, Plame first defended her posts, replying on Twitter that "Many neocon hawks ARE Jewish."[84][86][87] Within two hours she deleted her initial post and apologized, tweeting "OK folks, look, I messed up. I skimmed this piece, zeroed in on the neocon criticism, and shared it without seeing and considering the rest. I missed gross undercurrents to this article & didn't do my homework on the platform this piece came from. Now that I see it, it's obvious. Apologies all. There is so much there that's problematic AF and I should have recognized it sooner. Thank you for pushing me to look again. I'm not perfect and make mistakes. This was a doozy. All I can do is admit them, try to be better, and read more thoroughly next time, Ugh."[88] Ramesh Ponnuru and Caleb Ecarma have argued that the incident followed a pattern of posting content critical of Israel, neoconservatives, and making jokes about "rich Jews".[89][90] She had tweeted at least eight articles from the same website before,[91] in which she previously retweeted links to conspiracy theories of 'dancing Israelis' being behind the 9/11 attacks.[92]

Barack Obama Warns Progressives Not to Form ‘Circular Firing Squad'
[Breitbart] On the heels of a week’s worth of attacks on handsy Joe Biden for his years of untoward treatment of women, former President Barack Obama is warning progressives not to form a "circular firing squad" to take out their own candidates.
Speaking in Germany at a town hall event on Saturday for his Obama Foundation, the former president said he feared that the extreme left of the Democrat Party has become too rigid.

"One of the things I do worry about sometimes among progressives in the United States is a certain kind of rigidity where we say, ’Uh, I’m sorry, this is how it’s going to be,’" Obama said, according to the Hill. "And then we start sometimes creating what’s called a ’circular firing squad,’ where you start shooting at your allies because one of them has strayed from purity on the issues. And when that happens, typically the overall effort and movement weakens."
Because he "was so flexible and shit"
"So I think whether you are speaking as a citizen or as a political leader or as an organizer," Obama continued, "you have to recognize that the way we structure democracy requires you to take into account people who don’t agree with you, and that by definition means you’re not going to get 100 percent of what you want."

The former president was speaking to a group of young people about leadership. He added that leaders should not go too far either way. "You can’t set up a system in which you don’t compromise on anything, but you also can’t operate in a system where you compromise on everything," he said.

Court Ruling Implies That Barr Must Redact Grand-Jury Info from Mueller Report
Recent DC Circuit Court ruling affirms the DOJ rule 6(e) of keeping Grand Jury (GJ) transcripts secret. This is a knife in the eye of onerous Nadler, Schiff twins, and all the other socialist Dems that want the full, unredacted Mueller report released. AG Barr holds the 'high ground' in redacting GJ material.
[NR] Democrats will piss & moan, but the attorney general can’t be faulted for following the law.

In disclosing the Mueller report, Attorney General William P. Barr will have to redact grand-jury information. That is the upshot of the ruling today by a divided panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit.

I flagged this case, now called McKeever v. Barr (formerly McKeever v. Sessions), last week. It did not arise out of the Mueller investigation, but it obviously has significant ramifications for the Mueller report ‐ in particular, how much of it we will get to see.

At issue was this question: Does a federal court have the authority to order disclosure of grand-jury materials if the judge decides that the interests of justice warrant doing so; or is the judge limited to the exceptions to grand-jury secrecy that are spelled out in Rule 6(e) of the Federal Rules of Criminal Procedure? The D.C. Circuit’s McKeever ruling holds that the text of Rule 6(e) controls. Consequently, judges have no authority to authorize disclosure outside the rule.

This is significant for the Mueller report because Rule 6(e) does not contain an exception to secrecy that would permit disclosure to Congress.

The case involves a writer, Stuart McKeever, who was researching a book on the disappearance of Columbia University professor Jesús de Galíndez Suárez in 1956. It was suspected that Galíndez, a very public critic of Dominican Republic dictator Rafael Trujillo, was kidnapped and flown to the D.R., where he was murdered. In the course of a federal investigation, suspicion fell on John Joseph Frank, a former FBI agent and CIA lawyer, who later worked for Trujillo. Frank was eventually prosecuted for failing to register as a foreign agent but never charged with any involvement in Galíndez’s murder.

#1  Sometimes I genuinely wonder if the freshman in congress are aware that there were other sessions of congress before them. They passed laws about things like privacy at the IRS, and secrecy about Grand Juries. It often seems like they believe they are the first session of congress and have no precedents or previously passed laws that apply to them.
Posted by: Beau || 04/07/2019 1:14 Comments || Top||

#2  ...hell, they haven't even read the Constitution. You can tell by their comments.

Grand Jury is an investigation tool. You can get a lot of hearsay and uncorroborated information that is not admissible in due process. We got that for two years from the Legacy Infotainment Enterprises.
