I suspect the reason this story didnt have much legs was threefold. First, it was around that time when it became evident that the Senate had no stomach to take up an Energy bill that included a Cap and Trade scheme. Second, the connections are too convoluted for the typical bumper sticker headline trawled out by the MSM. And finally, the story was broke by the non-journalist Glenn Beck. On this one Beck spells out his conjecture of collusion quite clearly. And like the Van Jones story he asks his audience not Is the story true but If it is true would it matter?
The Tea Party winner du jour and Delaware Republican nominee for Senate Christine O'Donnell repeatedly used cannibalism as a metaphor for the party disunity that has threatened her campaign. "Before all this Republican cannibalism, we were not far behind in the polls" for the general election, O'Donnell said Tuesday night, adding that she hoped the activist and establishment wings of the party could "kiss and make up" for the general election. She continued to use the term to describe the party's mixed reaction to her victory on appearances on Good Morning America and Fox & Friends Wednesday morning. On 8/8 the Daily Kos/PPP (D) had the race Coons 44%, O'Donnell 37%. Since the savage attacks by Castle, Rove et. al. now PPP (D) has it Coons 50%, O'Donnell 34%.

The same people who are rejoicing in what they perceive as a Trunk Civil War, were just a year ago calling the Tea Party just an astroturf creation of Trunk establishment. They still haven't figured it out just like the good old boys up in the RNC. Both are engaging in gross miscalculation. Let's just hope they keep it up.

She has raised $500,000 in less than 24 hours via contributions on her website. Her new goal is $750,000 for the campaign. The RNC is behind her now because they have been swamped with angry emails and phone calls from voters about the Establishment Republicans sniping on her right after she won. All Mike Steele and the RNC is doing today is hiding behind Mama O'Donnell's skirts so that the voters don't beat them up; and because she was able to call in the donor equivalent of an ARCLIGHT strike in terms of money.

It wasn't long ago that the MSM and the clever liberal pundits on TV were calling the Tea Party by the name Teabaggers---A derogatory, intended-to-be smutty smarmy put down. I don't hear that anymore. These same people would like to believe the story about Republican cannibalism. They are whistling in the graveyard.

The underlying theme is that we need to keep the GOP strong because it's our only choice against the DonkGreenSocialistParty. Not. The GOP leadership is not a whole lot different than the DONKs - thery're in the politics business to get rich and exercise power, not serve. Gut the damn GOP. It's the only way we might get an option that doesn't involve the Kleptocracy. The thing that makes the Tea Party work is that it isn't a political party with a party's organization needs - it's individuals dealing with their local situations. That's why I'm not in favor of the Tea Party Express - the folks running it want to become a "real" party. Remember what Washington said (paraphrased). "The greatest danger to the republic is faction." (his word for political parties).

Very glad to hear M. Steele's comments on Christine's victory. I was having doubts about him of late.
As for Karl Rove, I haven't been buying his bs for over a year. Rove is not "The Architect" (of republican strategery- yuk-yuk. Rove doesn't cut the mustard anymore. He Does have the large frontal lobes and a glib tongue going for him.
"Until she demonstrates some viability in the polls we are not going to have any money for her," a top Republican official told CNN. "It is now incumbent on Sarah Palin, Jim DeMint and the Tea Party Express to help support her. They got her here. Now make it happen."

The RSC is cutting off its nose to spite its face : If O'Donnell loses, the voters in Delaware will blame the RSC for sabotaging her; if she wins without them, she will not owe the national party a damn thing and can flip them off at will. Lose-Lose for the Establishment Republicans.

She won by 6 points. I'd like to see the voter demographics for O'Donnell in this primary. If donks registered Republican and voted for O'Donnell trying to screw up the trunk primary that is a problem. This might be true if they think O'Donnell is unelectable in the general election. As deplorable as the possibility that donks are playing games with the trunk primaries is the Republican leadership not wanting outsiders rocking the establishment Republican boat. Maybe O'Donnell can win in the general election. RINO Castle wasn't all that a desirable candidate. The Tea Party is trying to send a strong message to both parties; they are tired of the same old same old politics that are screwing the voters and denying them a voice. Maybe the old rules don't apply anymore. I see more and more outsider first time conservative candidates winning. Something different is happening this election.
I don't know whether or not O'Donnell is nuts. What proof is there of that? We have many liberal donk congresscritters who appear to be certifiably nuts. Suppose a conservative nut gets in occasionally. If she is really crazy she can be dumped from office next time. Or someone can oppose her in the primary next time. I don't like the fact that Republicans are already saying they won't support her thus giving capitulating and giving the seat to the donk candidate.

Note that after winning, her website has crashed under a deluge of campaign contributions from across the country. She was shooting for $350k for the general election, and the last her website showed before crashing was that she was at 94%.

Lex, would I have voted for her, if I could? Tough call. Probably not. Tactical vote would go to Castle.
However, her win pushes the state GOP towards less big government, business, and unions. Even if she loses the general election, that's a plus. Get the squishy RINO compromisers out and force the electorate to make a choice.
It would make sense for Soros to support her in the primary, and for Dems to cross over and vote for her, if they could. But it makes no sense for them to support her now. What we are seeing is the Country Party expressing support.
Supporting her now is a no-brainer. Let's see if we can help her go the distance!

The Democrat, Chris Coons, is loony and Marxist enough to qualify for a position as one of Obamas czars. As bad as Castle might be, its not difficult to make the case that putting Coons in the seat would be far worse. However, while putting that case together, bear in mind that Castle co-founded a group with George Soros. Not likely Soros was dumping money into O'Donnell's campaign just so she can lose in November. Remember, everyone thought Castle would win. An article appeared here that discussed the above in more detail on 9/14. A woman from downstate Delaware called Rush today and said there are plenty of conservatives in Delaware. The pundits have been wrong. Now if O'Donnell can hold her own in public debates and there is not a Katy Couric moment.
Just suppose O'Donnell can win the Senate seat. Suppose conservatives will come out of the hinterlands. There have been quite a few surprises within the last year that no one expected.

If I give my money to O'Donnell, it isn't money which would have gone somewhere else trust me on that one.
I wouldn't trust a poll too much anyways, especially one out mere hours after primary results. Personally I would rather know who is on whose side. Give her a chance, two weeks ago the Padres were shoe in division champs you know.

Let me commend Ryan Frazier to you for donations. A personal appeal on behalf of a young veteran I have worked with, and whom I respect and innately trust. Washington (CNN) - Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid AKA Slimey Bastard of the Senate (and that is saying something)
said Tuesday he will add the DREAM Act, a controversial immigration measure, to a defense policy bill the Senate will take up next week.
The decision means the defense bill, which often passes with bipartisan support, will be home to two major, thorny political issues -- the other being the repeal of the military's "don't ask, don't tell" policy.
Reid called the DREAM Act "really important" and said it should be passed because it provides a path to citizenship for young illegal immigrants who go to college or serve in the military. DREAM is an acronym for Development, Relief and Education of Alien Minors Act. Why are Illegal Aliens serving in the Military in the first place?
I'm ok with that. I don't see why illegals who go to college should jump to the head of the line.
"I know we can't do comprehensive immigration reform," Reid said at a news conference. "But those Republicans we had in the last Congress have left us." "And I really, really, really need the 'Hispanic' vote right now so I am pandering to them until November."
Many Hispanic voters are angry with Democratic leaders for not doing more to pass an immigration overhaul. The decision by Reid to add the DREAM Act now could help soothe that anger. And Many Hispanic voters are angry that our borders are not secure. But that doesn't fit the narrative.
Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell called Reid's decision "needlessly controversial."
The Senate will need 60 votes to take up the bill next week, and Reid said Tuesday he doesn't know if he has enough votes. In short Reid is taking a page out of Obama's book and holding the Defense bill hostage until he gets his Dream act - just like Obama is refusing to honor his oath and defend the nation from invaders until Amnesty gets passed.

Harry's not doing anything new except providing some perks for college students. As is said, Harry is trying to act like a mensch at election time to curry votes. It is like taking credit for something he didn't really do and making it look like he has done something and that he supports the military. Why should people here illegally get a path to citizenship by going to college? They should be booted to the back of the line or booted out. I'm O.K. with legal immigrants serving in the military as a shortened path to citizenship.
In 2007, about 70,000 foreign-born men and women serve in the U.S. armed forces, or about 5 percent of the total active-duty force, according to the Pentagon. Of those, nearly 30,000 -- or about 43 percent -- are not U.S. citizens.
Military service already provides a streamlined path to citizenship according to immigration policy.
Under INA Section 328, persons who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces (including active duty, reserves, or national guard), can file for Naturalization based on their current or prior U.S. military service. The requirements for eligibility are that the applicant must have served honorably or have separated from the service under honorable conditions, have completed one year or more of military service, and be a legal permanent resident at the time of his or her examination by USCIS on the Form N-400, Application for Naturalization. This used to be three years, but Congress changed it to one year in 2002. Filing for naturalization under this provision of the law, Section 328 of the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1952, as amended (INA), excuses the applicant from any specific period of residence or physical presence within the United States, so long as the application is filed while the applicant is still serving with the military or within 6 months of an honorable discharge.

The DREAM act doesnt have the votes because the provisions for in-state tuition and back door amnesty for family members are too controversial. The Dont ask Dont Tell repeal isnt going anywhere until the military brass has completed their review and thats still a year out. Even Obama has telegraphed that one. Each of the violent crime categories decreased from 2008murder (7.3 percent), robbery (8.0 percent), aggravated assault (4.2 percent), and forcible rape (2.6 percent).
This all occurred in the same year that Americans purchased 14 million firearmsmore than the combined active armies of the top 21 countries in the world. We also purchased an estimated 14+ billion rounds of ammunition during that same time period.
It is also worth remembering that these purchases were made during a year where gun rights were ascendant, and Americans could carry weapons in more areas as firearm owners rights continued to go mainstream. Ditto and ditto. Over the years more and more states have passed concealed carry laws. States where such laws have been passed, "violent" crime has gone done. Some of the liberal blue states where one cannot carry under just about any circumstances, violent crime is still a problem. 2nd amendment-based lawsuits are changing things in these hard-core anti-2nd amendment cities and states.
Both sides of the equation need to reexamined, neither of which the left would ever want to do. If poverty is increasing due to the economic recession then by the formula crime should also increase. General indications are that the trends are not running parallel. That means either crime is a chosen behavior rather than just an environmental behavior or that the very definition of poverty is false. In the former case implies that free will of the individual not 'The Man' or 'The Establishment' is the fundamental causal factor. That kills the left's victim game. In the latter case, it means that which is defined as poverty isn't. The relativity of simply drawing a statistical line and declaring anyone below it poor is a pure fiction. It exposes the excess and exaggeration of leftist rhetoric, once again, selling their guilt trips. Remember that when the numbers don't fit the theory, throw out the numbers. /sarc off

I learned long ago, from a prominent criminologist, that historic crime rates almost exactly match the size of the male population age 15-30 cohort in proportion to the society at large. The only variables include married members of that group, fathers present in the family, and otherwise occupied members of that group (already in custody, in the military, etc...)
Spending on "anti-crime" programs, firearm ownership, and all other "social" trends really don't have a noticeable correlative effect.
Simply put, societies with lots of criminal opportunities and lots of potential criminals have lots of crime, but the opportunities are not the most important factor.

At one time, I analyzed crime statistics--40 years ago. Most likely the demographics of crime has changed since that time. About the only thing that I could find of the variables looked at that was correlated with crime was whether or not the person could read. That could be correlated with a lot of other things mentioned in this thread, father present in family, gangs in neighborhood, schooling, religious influences, etc.
