Obama gets ahead of prompter
President Obama’s speech at the National Academy of Sciences Monday morning hit a brief snag when Obama got ahead of his script.

Laying his plan for a President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology, Obama began to name the members of PCAST listed in his prepared remarks – before realizing he’d already introduced them, earlier in his speech.

“In addition to John – sorry, the – I just noticed I jumped the gun here,” Obama said, pausing for several seconds as he looked at the prompter. “Go ahead. Move it up. I had already introduced all you guys.”

The audience, which gave the president a warm reception, responded with a quiet laugh.

#1  I wonder if this tragi-comedy known as the Obama Presidency will end like 2001: Space Odyssey where instead of HAL we have TOTUS taking over and shuttling The One at warp speed back to his embryonic days in Kenya?

#2  Somebody...please...load the lyrics from "I am the Walrus" into the 'prompter! Hilarity will ensue.

#3  I heard he used to smoke the peace pipe. First thing that goes is your memory cells. Dead brain cells need all the help they can get...

#4  OTOH, if this guy didnt have a teleprompter............................................................................................................................ummmmmm.

Betcha lots of people like me get positively apoplectic listening to his long pauses. I'd be sporting the impeach bumper sticker already if I didn't fear for my car being keyed and beaten.

Holder Foreshadowing Terrorist Interrogation Witch Hunts
The Obama administration says it won't look backward in the debate over harsh interrogations. On Attorney General Eric Holder's first stop in Europe this week, he looked back centuries, visiting a historic torture site.

The attorney general and his staff took a tour of the Tower of London, home of The Bloody Tower, and also the site where Guy Fawkes was put on the rack in 1605 to name those plotting with him to blow up Parliament.

The tower visit is standard fare for tourists, but one loaded with extra meaning for Holder, who listened quietly to tales of torture, execution, and palace intrigue.

The attorney general must decide whether Bush administration officials should be prosecuted for authorizing and approving harsh interrogation techniques against terror suspects. Critics call the methods torture.

#1  Gathering ideas for a United States Holocaust Slavery and Torture Memorial Museum on the Mall no doubt. Historical accomplishment, social achievement and democracy be damned! Have we learned nothing from Islam? We simply must keep old memories, hatreds, and bitterness alive. Otherwise guilt and social entitlement will wane and there will be no kindling for wars and conflicts of the future!

#2  He should travel to Antwerp (50 minutes via VLM from City Airport). There he can visit the Torture Museum, near the Opera, where as you walk in is a facsimile of the Statue of Liberty blindfolded proclaim the United States the most guilty of all countries regarding torture. No mention of Iran, Iraq, Pakistan, Egypt, Syria, Turkey, et.al. Oooh, don't go there if you are an European watching your life being fitted for a burqa!

Reid says Obama told him, 'I have a gift'
h/t drudge
WASHINGTON – Everyone knows President Barack Obama can deliver a great speech, including the president himself, according to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid.

The paperback version of Reid's book, "The Good Fight," is coming out May 5 with an epilogue called "The Obama Era." Reid said he was impressed when Obama, then a freshman senator from Illinois, delivered a speech about President George W. Bush's war policy.

Reid, D-Nev., writes: "'That speech was phenomenal, Barack,' I told him. And I will never forget his response. Without the barest hint of braggadocio or conceit, and with what I would describe as deep humility, he said quietly: 'I have a gift, Harry.'"
