French court decides in Al Durah defamation case - the good guys won!
The court ruled that while the defendant Karsenty's charges of deliberately inflammatory video presentation of the little adventures of Mohammed Al Durah, his father, and an Israeli bullet by Monsieur Ederlein and France2 were indeed defamatory, an investigation of the evidence revealed that the defendant was justified in criticizing them for what they chose to do.

It seems Ederlein and France2 plan to take this all the way to the highest court in France.

Interesting commentary and video bits from the blogger, and links to other blogs and newspapers covering the story. Keep scrolling down.

Democrat Fratricide: Is Andrew Sullivan a Sociopathetic Hack?
Is that a trick question?
"Pagan Power" at the "No Quarter" Blog
Pagan Power's a Hillary! supporter. Sully's an emphatic Obamamaniac who said nasty things about Hillary. Madcap hilarity ensues.

This idiot by the name of Andrew Sullivan is of the opinion that it is wrong for Hillary to work her heart out to get the delegates of Florida and Michigan seated at the convention. In his myopic opinion Hillary is a Clinton and everyone knows about the Clintons. They Are Legend.

Shameless

The Clintons know no respect for rules or propriety or restraint in the pursuit of power.

Let’s start with the obvious.
The Clintons do too know no respect for rules or propriety. Remember Monica? Marc Rich? Cattle futures? Jim McDougal? Whitewater? The famous Bosnian sniper incident that never happened? Anyway, go on.
Sullivan is a lunatic.
Okay, we're with you on that point.
He groups Bill and Hillary together into this nice neat little bundle that he can blaspheme with impunity.
Blaspheme? Blaspheme??? Are you meaning to suggest Hillary is a god(dess)? (And then you say Obama supporters are a cult! Jeezopete!)
I wonder if he has actually even heard that women are known to have a mind of their own and are separate creatures from men.
"Ya gotta keep in mind that Sully doesn't exactly have much interest in women, if'n ya know what I mean--not that there's anything wrong with that."
According to Sullivan, Hillary is just an extension of Bill. Are Cavemen making a comeback that I haven’t heard about yet?
"GEICO. So simple a caveman could do it."

In my not so humble opinion Hillary has nailed this Florida and Michigan thing BIG TIME. . . . But facts like this matter little to Obama Cultists like Sullivan.

She agreed that Michigan and Florida should be punished for moving up their primaries. Obama took his name off the ballot in deference to their agreement and the rules of the party. That he should now be punished for playing by the rules and she should be rewarded for skirting them is unconscionable.

Earth to Andrew Sullivan. Not that it matters because you are clearly too stupid to understand something so simple as a fact or two. But for your followers and all the rest of the Cult-Aide addicts, here is a little refresher course in reality.

First of all, Hillary had no say whatsoever in the decision of the DNC to disenfranchise Florida and Michigan. None. Whatsoever. Did you get that Andrew? Or am I speaking too fast for you?

The next thing an idiot like you needs to understand is that the DNC threatened sanctions against ANY candidate that did not honor their decision. I realize it is a little difficult for a dumb ass like you to comprehend but do you at least get this part Andrew? The candidates were threatened if they would have campaigned so they agreed not to do so. Hillary honored the pledge. Obama did not.

Obama is the one that violated the rules Andrew. I realize he is your Great Black Hope. And I get that he gives you wood.
"Not that there's anything wrong with that!"
More power to ya bucko. But he is the one that violated the rules he agreed to abide by. Not Hillary. Get a frickin grip.

Sullivan ends his little tirade with a whopper of idiocy. He lets his true colors show. In another lifetime he would have been a very good Republican or bedmate of Arianna Huffington.
"If I were really mean-spirited, I'd mention that Ariana's former husband, like Sullivan, is not exactly interested in women either--not that there's anything wrong with that. But I'm not mean-spirited, so I won't bring it up."
Or am I speaking oxymoron?
Or are you a moron who, by speaking, uses up oxygen?

I think she has now made it very important that Obama not ask her to be the veep. The way she is losing is so ugly, so feckless, so riddled with narcissism and pathology that this kind of person should never be a heartbeat away from the presidency.

". . . ugly, . . . feckless, . . . riddled with narcissism and pathology"--that's actually a pretty good description of the Clintons. And Reverened Wright . . . and Harry Reid . . . Robert C. Byrd . . . Ted Kennedy . . . Cindy Sheehan . . . Michelle Obama . . . Michael Moore . . . George Soros . . . hell, it describes the whole moonbat Left, including Andrew Sullivan and "Pagan Power"!
Most of us realize that Cultists like you don’t have the ability to think rationally. So we walk a tightrope responding to the stupid things that you can’t help come out of your mouth. But since I have never been one to offer any mercy to anyone I disagree with complete idiots I won’t bother pretending to be nice to you. Besides, you don’t deserve civility.

You are an idiot Sullivan. I have watched videos of you and it is so blatantly apparent that it should be embarrassing. I have come to the conclusion that the only way a person such as yourself can achieve any relevance at all is to drink the Cult-Aide every day. Because dude, you haven’t a clue. And it isn’t a big secret.

#1  That he should now be punished for playing by the rules and she should be rewarded for skirting them is unconscionable.

Just like the method of counting ballots in Florida was OK when it elected Bill in '92 and '96, but needed to be changed after the votes were cast in 2000, right? [rhetorical question highlighting that it's really only about POWER not about the rendered excuses]

#5  Theres alot one could criticize Hillary for, shes no saint, but I can't for the life of me see where theres a moral obligation to end a campaign, even one that has only a minuscule chance of winning, before the primaries are done for. Kinda ironic how everyone is crying their eyes out for Senator Kennedy, who - guess what - took his campaign all the way to the 1980 Dem convention, with a minority of delegates, on grounds that the Carter delegates should have broken their pledges cause he was - yes - more electable. and the whole thing helped elect reagan.

I guess the problem is, if you actually REMEMBER the 1980 convention, youre an eevil baby boomer throwback or something.

As for Sully, way back in the "80s and '90s he was unreadable - an intolerant screechy Thatcherite, with a hard on for Reagan, (and certain obscure British 19th c political theorists)and a certain gay christian schtick, who went on to Clinton bashing. Unreadable. After 9/11 he was occassionally interesting - 9/11 made him think about a new set of issues. Since 2004 or so, hes gotten all screetchy again
and is again unreadable - every other post seemed to be about either torture or "Christianists" with oodles of handwringing of all kinds. I stopped reading him awhile ago. Obama vs Clinton has apparently given him a chance to combine his Anti-Clintonist shtick ("OMG, they wont let US marry, while THOSE guys make a mockery of marriage") with his new found dovish shtick.

Whatever

Hillary Clinton: no eye will be left un-gouged!
Jules Crittenden

It's a party apparently having a hard time figuring out what it is about, which is how the sideshow ended up being the main event. That would be the battle of gender vs. race. More of the usual "Clinton out now!" this morning. We'll get to that in a minute. First, NYT sums up why, politically, it makes sense for her to stay and touches on that sexism thing everyone has been overlooking in their rush to condemn pervasive American racism or anti-Obamism or whatever it is.

Rebuffing associates who have suggested that she end her candidacy, Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton has made it clear to her camp in recent days that she will stay in the race until June because she believes she can still be the nominee — and, barring that, so she can depart with some final goals accomplished. . . .

While Mrs. Clinton believes that winning the nomination is a long shot at this point, she is also staying in the race because, in her experience, electoral politics can be a chaotic and unpredictable enterprise, scandals can emerge from nowhere, and Mr. Obama’s candidacy could still suffer a self-inflicted or unexpected wound. Picking up more primary votes and superdelegates could only strengthen her position if the party wants or needs to find an alternative to Mr. Obama.

It's an eye-gouging thing. But the irony is, it is not Clinton's actions but Obama's own that create the opportunity. At the rate Obama keeps nicking himself, having to explain away absurd and offensive utterances and associations, there is no reason to think he might not yet critically gaffe himself, spill enough blood into the water that superdelegates start scrambling away in a panic. NYT fails to make the very legitimate point that the Washington Post's Richard Cohen made yesterday … The Clintons know Americans ultimately will have more respect for a tenacious, diehard loser than a quitter.

About the sexism, I suspect we'll finally see a serious mainstream examination of that once Obama’s clinched it and the buyer's regret sets in.

Politico’s Roger Simon misses all of the above points in a vapid Obama fawn entitled "What is Clinton's Argument Now?" that ends bizarrely with the inconclusive conclusion that "The Democrats will battle on because it is just so gosh-darned exciting!" Actually, the Democrats will battle on because they have mistaken the politics of personal ambition and vanity clothed in race and gender issues for matters of substance and have turned it into a race to see which will trump the other. Which is bizarre not least because race and gender concerns in 2008 are far from the most pressing issues of the day. There's a heck of a soul-searching due, and a lot of people will be (are being) smeared before its done. . . .

This one's interesting. Jonathan Chait at LA Times, "Not Supporting Clinton isn't an Attack on Feminism." How about "Not Supporting Obama Doesn't Mean You're a Racist."

Dickerson at Slate, "Lady, You're in My Way. Can Obama Do Anything to Get Clinton Out of the Race?" has this great line:

How long can a body exist in a state approximating motionlessness without actually stopping?

But otherwise is astonishingly uninformative and fails to engage on its own line of questioning with the natural followup. What is the effect of the gross impotence Obama is experiencing/demonstrating? Is America going to want to be entirely ruled by a party with such a marked record of indecision and ineffectiveness, and a candidate who can't close the deal? What happens in the spring is usually forgotten by fall, but if the Democrats have not exactly chosen a candidate yet, it may be because they can't decide whether they fear one more than they want to spare the feelings of the other. Well, that's their problem. I'm with Politico: It's gosh-darned exciting!

More from Jules here.

#2  I think they have an interesting problem, but not from the racism/sexism angle that the news keeps harping on.
Popular vs. Delegate vs. Super-delegate votes, Michigan and Florida's loss of the franchise, it's all set up for the establishment to slide whomever they want into the seat. Half the party is going to be pissed off no matter who wins the primary. I don't know about an Obama/Clinton ticket either, that sounds too bizarre to picture in my mind after all this .

Thing is, there is no clearly-defined 'establishment' now. It's a symptom of a thirty-plus years' power struggle within the Democrats.

But you're right - half will be angry at whatever the result is.

#7  If Hildbeast loses, I expect a significant vote for McCain from her followers.

If Obamaramadingdong loses, I don't know what to expect, but I don't see a shift to McCain. More likely they sit it out, possibly there's some minor rioting.

#8  I think Barbara deserves a vote of thanks for all this excellent popcorn.
Posted by: Grunter || 05/22/2008 18:53 Comments || Top||

#9  I dunno, Alan. It's one thing to say, five months before the election, that you'll never vote for the person who bested your favorite, it's another thing to stay angry through November.

McCain has to hold service: if he wins the Red states Dubya won in 2004, he's the President. Apparently not just Ohio, but Nevada, Nebraska (???), New Mexico, Colorado, Virginia and Iowa are in play if the race is Obama v McCain, and Bush won all those last time.

Even if some of the Hildebeast migrate to McCain, Obama has mobilized a lot of 'new' voters who he thinks will vote in the fall. That's his plan, anyway, because he can't be under any illusion that he'll win the rural vote, the white ethnic vote, and perhaps the Jewish vote. And McCain does well with Hispanics. So Obama has to get the latte liberals, the ultra-loyal Dems, and not just 95% of the black vote, but 95% of a larger than usual black vote.

I think McCain wins, but I'm not ready to put money on it.

The Last Debate
Yes, I know - it's Maureen Dowd. Deft knife work, MD.

Excerpt:

“Hillary, you’ve been a great candidate, better than your train-wreck campaign. You’re Churchillian in your indomitable tenacity. You’ve inspired women all over the country. In fact, you’ve inspired some of them to hate me. But now it’s time for you to try to muster a gracious exit.”

“Forget it, Bones. Once Harold Ickes works his dark magic on the delegate rules to count Michigan and Florida, I’ll have the popular vote. And then the superdelegates will grovel back. They know in their hearts that they don’t want to go on a blind date with a guy who’s going to be BFF with Cuba, Hamas, Iran and retired Weathermen. You can bet your white turban that I’m not raising the white flag.”

“Like hell you aren’t, sister.”

“Sexist!”

“Racist!”

“Speaking of whites, you can’t win without them. And if you think your Secretary of Hairdressing, John Edwards, is going to help, you’re more delusional than I am.”

“Hillary, when are you going to realize that these whites you consider your pawns are so sick of the Republicans that they’re going to vote for anybody who has the ‘D’ next to their name, and it’s going to be me. So cool it with the White Fright. Now what do you want? Debt relief?”

“Bill and I don’t need your Netroots arugula moolah. We don’t need your stinking $20 donors. We’ve got Burkle, the Saudis, the Kuwaitis and Kazakh uranium loot on tap.”

“Settle down, Hillary. What if I let you write the health care plank in the party platform?”

“Wow, you’re so-o-o generous. Can I also write the plank on switchgrass?”

“I switched from grass a long time ago.”

“Listen, rookie, we’re gonna have to share this thing.”

“Fine, you can have the 3 a.m. shift on the White House switchboard.”

Read it. It's all good.

Chicago Tribune Covers Up Ayer-Dohrn Roles in Fatal Bombing
The Chicago Tribune .... is refusing to publish the truth about a Weather Underground terrorist bombing that killed a policeman. .... I [Cliff Kincaid ] sent a copy of the following email message to Tribune reporter Liam Ford on April 27. He was the co-author of an article that consisted of a series of questions and answers about [Bill] Ayers, the communist terrorist who became a friend of Obama’s and helped launch Obama’s political career. My message said:

You state in your ‘Questions and Answers About Bill Ayers,’ April 24, page 4, that ‘The only people known to be killed or hurt by Weather Underground bombs were bombers themselves.’

We ask for a correction of this false statement.

The FBI report on the Weather Underground states, under the title of ‘WUO Bombings and Attempted Bombings,’ that on February 16, 1970, ‘A bomb detonated at the Golden Gate Park Branch of the San Francisco Police Department killing one officer and injuring a number of other policemen.’

The Society of Former Special Agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation authored a 1979 pamphlet on the WUO that reported, ‘On October 18, 1974, Larry Grathwohl, a former member of the WUO, testified before a US Senate Subcommittee that Bill Ayers, a WUO leader, had told him that Bernardine Dohrn, another WUO leader, had to plan, develop and carry out the bombing of the police station in San Francisco. Ayers told Grathwohl the bomb was placed on the window ledge and he described the bomb that was used to the extent of saying what kind of shrapnel was used in it.’

Please tell us when and how you intend to correct the record so that we can inform our readers and members.

Cliff Kincaid, editor, Accuracy in Media.
