Keith Nelson, man who killed Kansas girl in 1999, executed in Indiana
Put these animals down. Have a credible maximum penalty
[10 News] A man who killed a Kansas girl more than two decades ago has been executed in Indiana.

Keith Nelson became the fifth federal inmate put to death this year and second this week.

Nelson received a lethal injection Friday at the federal prison in Terre Haute, Indiana, after a higher court tossed a ruling that would have required the government to get a prescription for the drug used to kill him.

Questions about whether the drug pentobarbital causes pain prior to death had been a focus of appeals.

Nelson grabbed 10-year-old Pamela Butler off the street on Oct. 12, 1999, as part of a plan to find a female to rape and kill.

The lack of pain and distress, most unfortunate indeed.

Tour de France: Skinny little men in spandex face uncertainty over COVID-19
[France24] Already delayed, the Tour de France sets off Saturday shrouded in uncertainty, flying in the face of the coronavirus pandemic and the imponderable question of how many of the 176 riders will avoid infection and endure three exceptionally tough weeks of racing to reach the finish in Paris. If the rolling roadshow gets that far.

Staging cycling’s premier race when COVID-19 infections are rising again in France represents both a health risk and an embodiment of French President Emmanuel Macron’s insistence that the country must learn to function as normally as possible with the virus.

Failure to safely steer the Tour to the cobbles of Paris’ Champs-Elysées avenue on Sept. 20 could cast further doubt on the feasibility of holding other sporting mega-events, including the Tokyo Olympics postponed to next year, while the coronavirus remains untamed. A key question posed by pushing ahead with the race will be whether it would have been wiser and safer to simply cancel it.

"Is the Tour adding to the human community experience this year? Or hurting it? That’s what needs answering," Jonathan Vaughters, boss of the EF Education First team, told The Associated Press. "If we choose to take on the risk of living life, then I suppose we might have to take the risk of letting events go forward that make life worth living, like the Tour. Is that responsible for the community at large? I think there are many opinions. Many."

Amid the pandemic, the usually boisterous celebration of cycling that for decades has drawn packed throngs of cheering roadside spectators promises to be a strange and more subdued affair, moved for the first time in its 117-year history out of its traditional July slot to a September month when many fans will be back at school or at work after summer vacations.

China Held Online Seminar with the Ruling Party of Panama
[Paper.People.com.cn] China’s state media People’s Daily reported that, on August 25, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and the Democratic Revolutionary Party (RPD) of Panama held the opening ceremony of an online seminar for party cadres. Song Tao, head of the CCP’s International Liaison Department, said that, under the joint promotion of General Secretary Xi Jinping and Panama’s leader, over the past three years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, there have been "fruitful cooperation results." The purpose of this online seminar was to "implement the important consensus of the two heads of state, and contribute to the development of Sino-Panama relations." Song discussed the content of the third volume of Xi Jinping’s writings on State Governance. Fujian’s provincial CCP Committee Secretary Yu Weiguo talked about Fujian’s social economic development under the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought and expressed willingness to strengthen cooperation with Panama in areas such as the "Belt and Road Initiative."

Panama’s RPD reportedly agreed with Xi Jinping’s idea of a "community with a shared future for mankind," and stated that it firmly adheres to the one-China principle and is willing to participate actively in the "Belt and Road Initiative."

Cypress Papers: China's Riches Quietly Emigrate Overseas
[ChinaScope] Al Jazeera’s Investigative Unit has obtained copies of documents that were leaked and which reveal that Cyprus, an EU country, approved 1,400 "golden passports" between 2017 and 2019, among which more than 500 were issued to Chinese. The project started in 2013, when Cyprus launched a "Cyprus Investment Plan." According to this plan, through the purchase of real estate and other forms of investment in the local area amounting to at least 2.15 million euros, a foreigner could apply for a so-called "golden passport." A Cyprus passport brings benefits including no requirement of a local residence and the freedom to live and work in the other 26 EU countries.

Al Jazeera discovered that most of the people who obtained the "golden passports" were Russians, Chinese, and Ukrainians. By selling citizenship, the Cyprus government received 7 billion euros in revenue within two years, a good boost for a sluggish economy.

Among about 500 naturalized people from China, Al Jazeera released the information on eight individuals, including Yang Huiyan, a property developer and the majority shareholder of Country Garden Holdings. In 2007, her father, Yang Guoqiang largely transferred the stake to her. She is the richest woman in Asia. It is legal for a Chinese to apply for a passport or permanent resident status of another country, but China does not recognize dual citizenship. In theory, after Yang Huiyan obtained the Cyprus passport on October 23, 2018, she could not continue to remain Chinese as her nationality.

The Chinese who have acquired Cyprus citizenship include a few representatives of the National People’s Congress (NPC) and the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) in provincial and city governments. Lu Wenbin, a representative of the Chengdu Municipal People’s Congress, obtained a Cypress passport in July 2019. Chen Anlin, a member of the CPPCC in Huangpi District, Wuhan City, became a Cypress citizen in July 2018. Fu Zhengjun, a former member of the CPPCC in Jinhua city of Zhejiang Province, was naturalized in November 2017. Zhao Zhenpeng, a member of the CPPCC of Binzhou City, Shandong Province, received a Cyprus passport in February 2019. The South China Morning Post pointed out that once these people are found to have foreign citizenship, they will be disqualified as representatives of the NPC or the CPPCC.

According to the South China Morning Post, people holding important positions in state-owned enterprises are not allowed to have foreign passports. Tang Yong, executive director and president of the state giant China Resources Power, is on the list that Al Jazeera disclosed. Tang obtained a Cyprus passport in January 2019. Then in December, he was transferred to China Resources Power as its president.

Being rich is not the only condition for investing in Cyprus to obtain a passport. The Cyprus government requires strict verification of the background of the applicants. Those with criminal records cannot be naturalized. However, the "Cypress Papers" show that Zhang Keqiang, a businessman from China, was sentenced for equity trading. Another Chinese businessman, Li Jiadong, was sanctioned by the United States for laundering more than US$ 100 million. Both of them bought Cyprus "golden passports." In 2019, Cyprus revised relevant laws so that it now requires a strict investigation of investors and allows cancellation of passports already issued.

The "Cyprus Investment Plan" is an ongoing project. According to Al Jazeera, out of more than 500 people from China, only eight "politically public figures" have been disclosed. Most of the rest have no important political background or criminal history.

The European Commission once gave out warnings about some EU countries carelessly issuing EU visas and even granting EU citizenship for money, claiming that this approach contains risks.

Australian Uber passenger leaves car after learning driver is Jewish
H8ters gonna h8te.
[IsraelTimes] Man films incident, during which he calls his driver a ‘Jewish dog’ and ‘scumbag,’ and posts the video online.
The article links to the Sydney Crime News Facebook page, where several commenters point out the speaker has a “Lebanese” accent, and to a Daily Mail article, which despite its usual overexcited beginning calmly reports:
The driver has since reported the incident to the Anti-Defamation Commission - which said in a statement he would file a complaint with Victoria Police on Wednesday.
Apparently hate speech is a crime down there, and of course Uber has identification information for the passenger, as well as a working credit card number.
'The incident was reported to Uber headquarters immediately after the passenger left,' ADC chairman Dvir Abramovich said in a statement.
...along with a bad passenger warning on his Uber file, no doubt. “Let him use Lyft,“ as Marie Antoinette said.

Dramatic hot fire abort for Delta IV Heavy launch
[Fox 51] United Launch Alliance had hope that the third time would be a charm.

Instead, a hot fire abort at T-minus 3 seconds kept a Delta IV Heavy rocket from launching into orbit from Cape Canaveral early Saturday morning.
It was about as late in the game as it could get without a major loss
When the four-hour window opened at 2:04 a.m. there were already delays as engineers completed a thermal analysis of a rocket compartment that was excessively cold due to cryogenic fuel. A new launch time was set for 3:28 a.m. but the planned liftoff came to an abrupt end as the base of the Delta IV Heavy was engulfed in flames.

#2  SpaceX is screwed in this too. They had two launches delayed as this Boeing rocket kept retrying. One of them will not be permitted to launch as it would over fly the Delta IV.

For SpaceX it is a perfect lesson not to share a launch base with any player who might do NRO launches. They might need more Boca Chias. Their western site at Vandy doesn't get much use as California put safe quite sex for sea lions at a higher value than commercial rocket flights.

As to ULA launching on a Boeing rocket they got to be really wishing for their new Vulcan to come online ASAP.

High ranking CIA official commits suicide
[The Intercept] ONE OF THE nation’s highest-ranking intelligence officials died by suicide at his home in the Washington, D.C., area in June, but the U.S. intelligence community has remained publicly silent about the incident even as the CIA has conducted a secret investigation of his death.

Anthony Schinella, 52, the national intelligence officer for military issues, shot himself on June 14 in the front yard of his Arlington home. A Virginia medical examiner’s report lists Schinella’s cause of death as suicide from a gunshot wound to the head. His wife, who had just married him weeks earlier, told The Intercept that she was in her car in the driveway, trying to get away from Schinella when she witnessed his suicide. At the time of his suicide, Schinella was weeks away from retirement.

Soon after his death, an FBI liaison to the CIA entered Schinella’s house and removed his passports, his secure phone, and searched through his belongings, according to his wife, Sara Corcoran, a Washington journalist. A CIA spokesperson declined to comment for this story.

#3  She said the Arlington police notified the CIA about Schinella’s death, and that the Arlington police provided assistance to the CIA. “We will defer any questions related to the CIA investigation to their agency,” she added.

Retired the hard way did he? New wife (Journalist and CIA spokesperson - media disinformation agent) saw the entire episode from the driveway, oh ok. So the Agency assumed the lead into the investigation and local law enforcement "provided assistance" just like at Kroger. How convenient.

Don't forget to remove the meds and STU-III (secure phone). Banking documents, oh and that personal cell phone. Don't forget the cell phone.

Oh, lots of firearms and ammo found in the house. I know it sounds crazy, but how about SN and ballistics check. As I recall, that Seth Rich murder remains.... unsolved.

#4  Q's:

Wife (of a few weeks) found hubby's S&M gear AFTER he died... So why was she trying to get away from him when he killed himself? Who employs her? Is she also CIA?

Schinella was a harsh critic of the Clinton approach to terror, described in his book, "Bombs Without Boots." Did he have any connection to or knowledge of fellow perv Epstein, and through him, knowledge of Clinton's escapades with Epstein's harem?

Schinella was half-Chinese and he and his wife, whose MBA was from Shanghai, were both keen to raise alarms about Chinese influence over this country and over Australia. According to her, Schinella thought our emphasis on Russia is totally misguided. Who found this China emphasis so upsetting?

"Last year, Sandia National Laboratories — which designs America’s nuclear weapons — hosted a" segregated "3-day reeducation camp for ’white males,’ with the goal of exposing their ’white privilege’ and deconstructing ’white male culture.'" So reports the Manhattan Institute’s Christopher Rufo. "Last year, the national laboratory sent its white male executives to the La Posada luxury resort to undergo a mandatory training called ’White Men’s Caucus on Eliminating Racism, Sexism, and Homophobia in Organizations.'"

In the opening session, trainers demanded that the men make a list of associations about white male culture. The trainers wrote "white supremacists," "KKK," "Aryan Nation," "MAGA hat," "privileged," and "mass killings."

...In a subsequent session, the white males were forced to publicly recite a series of "white privilege statements" and "male privilege statements." They had to accept their alleged complicity in creating oppression of women and people of color. At the end of the training, the white males had to "write letters ’directed to white women, people of color, and other groups'" in which they "apologize for their ’privilege.'"

..."You must work with HR to hire on the basis of skin color" is apparently one message of this training.
And then you wonder why Chinese are so confident

#1  The National Labs were set up back in the 40s and 50s. It was recognized that you couldn't draw talent at government employee wages, so in effect, this was contracted out. It was for national defense. Since then your DoD has down sized significantly. The Army alone had over a million in uniform. Today its under 500,000. Bases have been closed and realigned. However, we still have the same number of National Labs as we did back then. As NATO is just welfare for first world nations, the National Labs are welfare for the 'gifted'. New Mexico has two (something about others worried about NIMBY). Time to realign and close several of them.

They were transferred from DoD to the Department of Energy when it was created during the Oil Crisis of the 70s. There's no oil crisis anymore and not due to anything that DoE did. Time to cut, cut, cut.

#2  /\ Their must be countless redundancies. Agreed, cut them.

Meanwhile, as the US commits economic & societal suicide, China will be more than happy to step in and become "number one".
