US to Keep 650 Troops in Afghanistan After Withdrawal
[ToloNews] At least 650 US troops are expected to remain in Afghanistan to provide security for diplomats following the completion of the American force withdrawal from the country, The News Agency that Dare Not be Named reported on Thursday, quoting US officials.

This comes amidst a sharp rise in Taliban

attacks on Afghan forces that have led to the fall of many districts to the group. But, on the other hand, thousands of Afghans have taken up arms to support the security forces in the fight against the Taliban.

US officials who spoke on condition of anonymity said that overall, the US expects to have American and coalition military command, its leadership and most troops out by July Fourth, or shortly after that, meeting an aspirational deadline that commanders developed months ago.

Quoted by The News Agency that Dare Not be Named the US officials who spoke on condition of anonymity said that overall, the US expects to have American and coalition military command, its leadership and most troops out by July Fourth, or shortly after that, meeting an aspirational deadline that commanders developed months ago.

This comes as US Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell on Thursday met with President Ashraf Ghani

He worked at the World Bank working on international development assistance. "As President Ghani and the Afghan people know, the threats we face from terrorism and tyranny have not been defeated," he said.

Meanwhile,

US Senator Jim Risch, ranking member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, in a meeting with Afghan leaders also expressed his concerns about the situation in Afghanistan and said "there are options in-between departing Afghanistan entirely or remaining there forever."

"I am concerned this decision severely hampers any chances of a negotiated peace, and puts our hard-fought counterterrorism gains at risk," Risch said.

US and coalition forces started withdrawal from Afghanistan in May. According to US Central Command, over 50 percent of the withdrawal has been completed.

Hundreds of Syrians Deployed to Libya Despite the Ceasefire Agreement
Via Bulgarian journalist Ruslan Trad
[STJ-SY] Introduction
Parties in the Libyan conflict reached a permanent ceasefire agreement across the country on 23 October 2020.[1] The agreement contained a term on the removal of various groups of foreign forces and mercenaries from the country before 23 January 2021. However, Syrians for Truth and Justice (STJ) obtained information verifying that recruitment drives and mercenary deployment to Libya are still underway.

Hundreds of Syrians were transferred to Libya by armed Syrian groups and Russian security companies between 23 October 2020 and early April 2021. Furthermore, STJ discovered that the large percentage of recruits sent to Libya during the recent period were civilians from several Syrian provinces, including the countryside of Damascus, As-Suwayda, Deir ez-Zor, and Raqqa, as well as the city of Palmyra in Homs province. Notably, most of these provinces are controlled by the Syrian government.

UN says 4,000 asylum-seekers relocated from Greece
[AlAhram] 'We are proud to mark the relocation of 4,000 people from Greece during trying times and are confident that we can do more together with Greece, our partners and governments across Europe', said IOM chief Gianluca Rocco

More than 4,000 asylum seekers have been relocated from Greece to other EU countries since April 2020, United Nations
...a lucrative dumping ground for the relatives of dictators and party hacks...
agencies said Thursday.
Forty-three asylum-seekers flew from Greece to La Belle France during the day, said a statement from the UN Refugees agency, the International Organization for Migration and UNICEF children's fund.

Since the start of the EU-funded initiative in April last year, 1,628 refugees, 1,531 asylum-seekers and 849 unaccompanied children have moved from Greece to other EU countries.

Athens said last month the number of asylum-seekers on its islands had fallen below 10,000 for the first time since Europe's migration crisis began in 2015 -- down from nearly 20,000 people in November 2018.

"European states demonstrate vital solidarity with Greece's communities through the relocation of refugees and vulnerable asylum seekers, and such efforts should become the norm and be expanded", said Mireille Girard, UNHCR representative in Greece.

Germany, La Belle France, Portugal, Finland, Belgium, Ireland, Norway, Lithuania, Bulgaria, Italia, the Netherlands, Switzerland
...home of the Helvetians, famous for cheese, watches, yodeling, and William Tell...

Hamas flag banned in Germany under new terror law
[IsraelTimes] German politician says the move will send ’a clear signal to our Jewish citizens’ after several antisemitic pro-Paleostinian rallies in the country.

Germany’s Bundestag lower house of parliament passed a law on Friday outlawing symbols of groups designated as terrorist organizations by the EU, including the Paleostinian Islamist movement Hamas, a regional Iranian catspaw,.

The new law, which must still be approved by the Bundesrat upper house, also outlaws symbols of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), listed as a terrorist group by The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire...
and its Western allies.

Previously, only symbols of organizations banned by Germany had been prohibited.

The move comes after several violent mostly peaceful and antisemitic pro-Paleostinian rallies were held in Germany during the flareup of violence between Israel and Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamaswith about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
in May.

Thorsten Frei, a politician for Chancellor Angela Merkel
...chancellor of Germany and the impetus behind Germany's remarkably ill-starred immigration program. Merkel used to be referred to by Germans as Mom. Now they make faces at her for inundating the country with Moslem colonists...
’s CDU, told Die Welt newspaper last week that the government wanted to ban the Hamas flag in response to the demonstrations.

"We do not want the flags of terrorist organizations to be waved on German soil," he said, adding that a ban would send "a clear signal to our Jewish citizens."

Germany saw several demonstrations during the 11 days of fighting between Israel and Hamas in May, with protesters shouting antisemitic slogans, burning Israeli flags and damaging the entrance to a synagogue with stones.

At one protest in Berlin, 59 people were arrested and dozens of coppers injured as protesters threw stones, bottles and fireworks.

The Central Council of Jews in Germany said it had received "a torrent of the most vile antisemitic insults" on social media.

Council President Josef Schuster urged the police to take a hard line against antisemitism and said the events had been "reminiscent of the darkest times in German history."

Interior Minister Horst Seehofer said Germany would crack down hard on anyone found to be spreading "antisemitic hatred."

"We will not tolerate Israeli flags burning on German soil and Jewish institutions being attacked," he told the Bild am Sonntag newspaper.

Madrasa can't be blamed for individual's act, says Ashrafi
[NATION.PK] Special Representative to Prime Minister on Religious Affairs Hafiz Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi has said that all madaris boards and organizations in the country agree that action should be taken under the law if any illegal activity takes place in any religious seminary.

Addressing a presser at Jamia Manzoorul Islamiyah here on Friday, he said that people all over the world committed crimes but their institutions were not held responsible for their individual acts.

He said that the teacher of the madrasa had been fired for committing an illegal and immoral act, and thus the institution had done its job. He said that the religious class had no relationship with criminals.

He said about 1,000 to 5,000 students and 300 to 400 teachers were the normal strength of religious seminaries, adding that there were 30,000 religious seminaries in the country where around 3 million students were studying. "That does not mean everyone is bad in madrasas," he added.

Police urged to pull out all the stops to foil enemy's designs

1.) Little Orphan Annie's bodyguard
2.) A province of Pakistain ruled by one of the Sharif brothers
3.) A province of India. It is majority (60 percent) Sikh and Hindoo (37 percent), which means it has relatively few Moslem riots....

Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar chaired a meeting at his office on Friday to review the overall law and order situation in the province including investigations into the Johar Town kaboom.

Punjab IG police, Additional IGs of Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and Special Branch and other officials concerned attended the meeting.

The CM termed the Johar Town blast a test case for the law enforcement agencies and directed them to move forward in an organised manner. "All-out efforts should be ensured to save the life and property of the people. Police’s obligation is to perform their duties efficiently," he stressed.

A report was presented before the meeting about the progress made during investigations of the Johar Town blast. The CM expressed satisfaction and directed to employ scientific methods. He further directed to increase police patrolling, adding that the law enforcement agencies should pull out all the stops to foil the nefarious designs of the anti-state elements.

- at the White House later Friday.

American officials have said they will discuss the US troops’ withdrawal amid a surge in fighting between the Afghan forces and the Taliban across the country. Imran Khan said Pakistain had used the "maximum leverage" it could on the Taliban to bring them to negotiating table with the United States and then with the Afghan government.

"Unfortunately," he said, "there is still a feeling in the Afghan government that Pakistain could do more, which I have to say is very disappointing to us when they blame us for being unable to, after so many years, to come to some sort of a settlement."

Replying to a question, the prime minister said Pakistain had been in constant communication with the Afghan government at different levels. Asked whether his government would recognise the Taliban if they carried a full military takeover in Afghanistan, the prime minister said, " Pakistain will only recognise a government which is chosen by the people of Afghanistan, whichever government they choose."

planned to rescind recognition of Israeli illusory sovereignty over the Golan Heights, after a false report sparked an uproar in Israel.

#1  Capturing territory by military force and then annexing it? Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't that why we joined WWII, to put a stop to that?

#4  You can hit virtually every place in Israel with a 105 from the Golan Heights. If the Syrians wanted to keep them so badly, they should have behaved more responsibly.

Isn't that how we got our new states from California to Texas? Annexation of defeated Mexican's territory I mean.

#6  One might point out that there's no such country as Syria anymore.

That's actually the practical basis for the territorial boundaries of every nation on earth. The reason for every war is piled high and deep with flowery rhetoric, but the ultimate reason any country risks its future - the lives of its young men - is parochial interest. And there's nothing wrong with that. If I am not for myself, who will be for me?

#8  Correct me if I'm wrong

We didn't enter the war in Europe, Germany and Italy declared war on the United States. It came to us. Yeah, I know FDR was egging them on, but even he knew he couldn't get a declaration of war against them with the focus on Japan and Pearl Harbor.

#10  Capturing territory by military force and then annexing it? Correct me if I'm wrong

As I recall, Israeli tanks got as far as within 20 kilometers of Damascus before stopping because a truce was forced upon them, yet they only retained the heights of Golan overlooking the Israeli farms below.

Ditto Israeli tanks and Cairo, where they only kept the Sinai when the war was over, and most of that they traded to Egypt for peace.

So Israel in both cases could have completely conquered each country, yet did not do so and did not keep nearly as much territory as they’d overrun. Your initial assumption is incorrect, Knuckles Slererong5344. Consider yourself corrected at the front end as well as the rear of your argument.
