Madrasa can't be blamed for individual's act, says Ashrafi
2021-06-26
[NATION.PK] Special Representative to Prime Minister on Religious Affairs Hafiz Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi has said that all madaris boards and organizations in the country agree that action should be taken under the law if any illegal activity takes place in any religious seminary.

Addressing a presser at Jamia Manzoorul Islamiyah here on Friday, he said that people all over the world committed crimes but their institutions were not held responsible for their individual acts.

He said that the teacher of the madrasa had been fired for committing an illegal and immoral act, and thus the institution had done its job. He said that the religious class had no relationship with criminals.

He said about 1,000 to 5,000 students and 300 to 400 teachers were the normal strength of religious seminaries, adding that there were 30,000 religious seminaries in the country where around 3 million students were studying. "That does not mean everyone is bad in madrasas," he added.
