Afghanistan
Afghan Air Force employs more laser-guided bombs against militants
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The Afghan Air Force has employed more laser-guided bombs against the forces of Evil after the historic and maiden employment of the sophisticated bomb against Taliban
...Arabic for students...
last month.

"Last month the Afghan Air Force achieved a historic milestone with the Afghan Air Force A-29s conducting their first mission involving the release of a GBU-28 laser-guided bomb against a Taliban compound in Farah Province," the NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A cautionary tale of cost-benefit analysis....
-led Resolute Support Mission said in a short online statement.

The statement further adds that "They’ve conducted more than five additional missions since then. 438th Air Expeditionary Wing continues to provide Train Advise Assist through the Resolute Support Mission resulting in increased progress and self-reliance by the Afghan Air Force."

The Afghan Air Force used the bomb to target a Taliban compound in Farah province last month.

"On March 22, the Afghan Air Force tasked the A-29 squadron to destroy a Taliban compound in Farah. The Afghan attack pilots were equipped with both guided and unguided bombs, and elected to employ the GBU-58 laser-guided bomb to avoid collateral damage," according to a report by Resolute Support Mission.

This comes as efforts are underway to boost the capabilities of the Afghan armed forces, particularly the Air Forces.

"Key pieces that you’re seeing is that the Afghan Air Force itself, one of the more lethal organizations they have, and one that we’re looking to triple in size by 2023, is conducting significantly more air operations in direct support of the ANDSF on the battlefield, to the tune of 500 more sorties this year than they did the year before," said U.S. Air Force Brig. Gen. Lance Bunch, director of future operations, Resolute Support, in a December 2017 presser.

Bunch also noted the Afghan forces conducted their combat operations through 2017 with the lowest level of support from the coalition forces in the 16-year war here, yet has seen some of the most success they’ve ever had.

Egypt refers 6 alleged members of a Daesh-affiliated group to court for targeting churches, military
[AlAhram] Egypt’s prosecutor-general referred six defendants to the Supreme State Security Emergency Criminal Court on Saturday on charges of creating a ISIS-affiliated terrorist cell.

The defendants were detained in the Nile Delta governorate of Gharbiya after being accused of planning an attack on St Mary’s Coptic Orthodox Church in Mahalla during Christmas celebrations in 2017.

Ammunition, kaboom, and weaponry were also found in the possession of the accused.

The prosecution charged the defendants with a number of crimes, including establishing and joining a terrorist organization in which aims to subvert the law and the constitution.

Defendants are also accused of embracing "takfiri
...an adherent of takfir wal hijra, an offshoot of Salafism that regards everybody who doesn't agree with them as apostates who most be killed...
" ideologies, which encourage the idea of declaring the ruling as infidel thus legitimizing his ouster.

The prosecution said they were accused of allegedly attacking the members of the armed forces and the police as well as Christian citizens and their churches.

The defendants are also accused of funding the ISIS-affiliated organization that they created.

Initial investigation reports of the defendants show that the cell members have received orders to create an affiliate terrorist group to ISIS in Mahalla to propagate their ideology on the internet.

Europe
In Paris, the demise of some Jewish congregations is fueling revival in others
[IsraelTimes] A proliferation of assaults and terrorist attacks is prompting what appears to be an unlikely Jewish renaissance amid one of the community’s worst crises since World War II.

If French Jewry is facing an existential threat because of anti-Semitic violence, then little of the drama is on display in this affluent and heavily Jewish suburb of Gay Paree.

At a time when other areas of the Gay Paree region have soldiers guarding fortified synagogues and patrolling streets with many Jewish residents for fear of Islamists, the busy shul of Neuilly (pronounced no-ee) is unguarded.

Turkey, rebel allies have lost hundreds in Afrin fighting, Erdogan says
[AlAhram] The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
and its Syrian rebel allies have lost "hundreds" of fighters in total since the start of a campaign in northwest Syria three months ago, President Tayyip Erdogan said on Saturday, with the rebels suffering the bulk of the losses.

Turkey and its Free Syrian Army
... the more palatable version of the Syrian insurgency, heavily influenced by the Moslem Brüderbund...
(FSA) allies launched the operation, dubbed "Olive Branch" by Ankara, in January and have since swept the Syrian Kurdish YPG from the Afrin region.

Erdogan has previously threatened to push further east, a move that would ratchet up tension in Syria's multi-sided conflict.

"Alongside our 56 deaders, the FSA army had hundreds of deaders," Erdogan told Turkey's NTV in an interview broadcast live.

Turkey sees the YPG as an extension of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), considered a terrorist group by the United States and Europe. The PKK has waged a three-decade insurgency in Turkey's largely Kurdish southeast that has left some 40,000 people dead.

The United States has trained and backed the YPG militia in the fight against Islamic State

[DAWN] An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Bloody Karachi
...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous...
sent former senior superintendent of police Rao Anwar to prison on juidical remand on Saturday until May 2 in a case pertaining to the extrajudicial killing of Naqeebullah Mehsud.

The former SSP, 11 of his detained subordinates and 14 absconders are accused of abducting Naseemullah, aka Naqeebullah Mehsud, for ransom and later killing him, along with three other detainees, in a staged encounter in Malir on January 13.

The accused cops had initially dubbed the murder an 'encounter' against bad boys.

Anwar, along with other suspects, has also been booked for planting false evidence ‐ pistols and hand grenades ‐ on Mehsud and three others after killing them in the shootout, and later registering a false case against the dear departed under the Sindh Arms Act for illegal possession of arms and explosives.

Iraq
Iraqi Yazidis need 10.000 fighters to protect borders with Syria
Sinjar (IraqiNews.com) An Iraqi Yazidi official has said their area west of the country needs thousands of fighters to protect the borders with Syria, predicting hundreds to be incorporated in the Iraqi army.

Xudeda Cuke, mayor of Sanoni, Sinjar, told Ayn AlIraq news website that Sinjar region "needs 10.000 fighters to protect border regions, including Sinjar", adding that "we predict that the government will approve to enroll 300 Yazidis in the police and army forces".

Cuke denied reports that 500 Yazidis have been already enlisted in the official Iraqi forces.

Last week, secretary-general of the Iraqi cabinet, Mahdi al-Allaq, said the government approved to incorporate Yazidi factions in Sinjar into the defenese and interior ministry forces, as well as into the Popular Mobilization Forces.

In March, Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) said in an earlier statement it announced withdrawing from the mainly-Yazidi region of Sinjar, saying it accomplished its mission of protecting the locals from IS bully boyz whose defeat the Iraqi government declared last December.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
American who went to war for Israel, lost an arm and went back
[NY Post] On January 8, 2009, Miami native Izzy Ezagui was sitting in a tent about a mile from the Gaza Strip. A soldier in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), he was with his unit and awaiting orders for a mission into unpredictable Gaza to retrieve the body of a captain who had been killed by a grenade launcher.

Holding his cellphone, Ezagui had been trying to decide whether to call his mother to tell her about the mission. He’d lied to her previously, saying he was stationed far from the front. Now, with danger on the way, he wondered if it was time to fess up.

At that moment, a 120 mm mortar flew into the tent, landing inches from Ezagui and exploding on impact. The mortar all but separated his left arm from his body.
Impressive.

Israeli secret service Mossad are accused of assassinating a Palestinian rocket scientist
[MAIL] Israel’s spy agency Mossad has been accused of assassinating a Palestinian suspected rocket maker in a drive-by shooting in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, earlier today.

A gunman, who was sitting on the back of a high-powered motorcycle, fired at least ten rounds at the victim, Fadi Mohammad al-Batsh, 35, as he walked to dawn prayers on Saturday morning.

Al-Batsh was hit at least four times in the head and the chest died immediately in what Malaysian officials believe was a professional hit.

North Carolina city bans any training with Israel police or IDF
[Jpost] Durham, North Carolina, has become the first city in the United States to ban training and exchanges between the city’s police department and the Israeli military.

Durham City Council unanimously voted 6-0 to adopt the policy that resulted from a petition by a coalition of activist groups called Demilitarize! From Durham2Palestine which includes Jewish Voice for Peace. The petition to ban any partnership the police might have with the IDF or Israeli police garnered close to 1,400 signatures.

#9  Did a bit of digging: Jewish Voice For Peace

From Wikipedia:
The Anti-Defamation League criticized JVP for what it described as "anti-Israel radicalism" and "questionable tactics" to promote its agenda, describing a 2017 video campaign as "veering dangerously close to repeating anti-Semitic slurs".

(per the ADL) While JVP's activists try to portray themselves as Jewish critics of Israel, their ideology is nothing but a complete rejection of Israel. In May 2008, for example, members of JVP protested many of the celebrations of Israel's 60th anniversary that took place around the country, essentially illustrating that they oppose Israel's very existence.

They are HQ in the well known center of Jewish Culture, Oakland CA. /sarc

Executive Director is "Rebecca Vilkomerson", apparently a descendant of Viking Jews.

Noam Chomsky, the very definition of a self-loathing Jew, is on the board.

It backs the BDS movement, opposes AIPAC, promotes youth groups that heckled Netanyahu, , opposes West Bank settlements.

The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) identified JVP as one of the top 10 anti-Israel groups in the United States.

The NGO Monitor: "the organization supports or has partnered with groups such as Sabeel, Electronic Intifada, Al-Awda, International ANSWER Coalition, the International Solidarity Movement and Students for Justice in Palestine, all of which label Israel a racist apartheid state, support BDS and, in some cases, support violence against Israelis"

Tides Foundation (Media Matter, People for the "American" Way) is a large contributor - which got 11 million in funding form...

George Soros.

I knew that snake was in the woodpile somewhere.

Hamas says man gunned down in Malaysia was important member
More on this report from yesterday
[Ynet] Gazoo's ruling Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth", hard boy group said Saturday that a man who was bumped off in Malaysia was an important member of the organization, raising suspicions that Israel was behind the brazen killing.

Hamas said Paleostinian engineer Fadi al-Batsh was a "loyal" member and a "scientist of Paleostine's youth scholars." It gave no further details on his scientific accomplishments but said he had made "important contributions" and participated in international forums in the field of energy.

The funeral service by the Islamic movement's hard boy wing, though, suggested al-Batsh was actually one of its military commanders. At a mourning house in the Gazoo Strip, a banner described al-Batsh as a member of the military wing.

Ten masked hard boyz in camouflage uniforms stood in a line outside the tent in Jabaliya, the slain man's hometown, to greet mourners. The ceremony is typical for senior Hamas commanders.

Hamas stopped short of blaming Israel, saying only that he had been "assassinated by the hand of treachery." But relatives of al-Batsh said they believe Israel targeted him.

#2  Jean Raspail, The Camp of The Saints, page 63. Originally published in French as LE CAMP DES SAINTS. Editions Robert Laffont, S.A., 1973

The undersecretary springs to his fee, like a jack-in-the-box, beside himself with glee, "Listen, I have a perfect idea. We put this fleet of nomads under the UN, a blue flag and all, with sailors form Sweden, Ethiopia, and Paraguay to act as observers. The we let their Relief Agency send out helicopters once in a while to feed the people and take care of the ships. And the fleet goes round and round, from ocean to ocean, all over the world, for the next twenty years. That should satisfy everybody. Besides, it's hardly a new idea. Remember Palestine? ...Just one thing: in twenty years there'll be twice as many on board as there are today. What with the heat, and nothing to do... We'll have to build floating camps and attach them to the fleet. Believe me gentlemen, it could go on for a very, very long time! In two generations they won't even know why there's nothing out there but ocean,as far as they can see, or why the deck of a ship is their homeland... That's right, their homeland. Because, in time, they'll even come to feel a kind of national pride. The heat, after all, and nothing else to do... Then they'll ask for independence. They'll damn well demand it.

The Party Line From Egypt: The Gaza March continues
It’s Al Ahram, so the text is guaranteed to be government approved.
[AlAhram] Israeli confidence may be cracking as the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip continue their March of Return
Or not, as the case may be.
Israel is continuing to look for ways to end the March of Return in Gazoo because it fears that this could drag it into a war that will deplete its energy and attract international opprobrium.
Thirty thousand, twenty thousand, ten thousand, five three thousand... It’s not Israeli fears but Gazan disinterest that should concern you, O Haitham Ahmed, Al Ahram’s correspondent in the beleaguered Gaza Strip.
Despite the military balance of power in its favour, Israel fears peaceful Paleostinian actions that could uncover Tel Aviv’s actions to the world.

It fears that this civilian struggle, like the First Intifada in the 1980s, will revive the Paleostinian cause and highlight the siege imposed on Gazoo over the past 11 years that has turned it into the largest prison in the world.

OPCW confirms visit to site of alleged chemical attack in Syria, Russians find chemical in rebel lab
[ALMASDARNEWS] The OPCW confirmed that a team visited the site in Douma where an alleged chemical attack took place. The Russian Foreign Ministry has voiced concerns about the watchdog’s plans to visit fewer sites and speak to fewer witnesses.

On Saturday the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) confirmed on Twitter that its fact-finding mission team "visited one of the sites" in Douma "to collect samples for analysis in connection with allegations of chemical weapons use on 7 April 2018."

The collected samples will be sent to OPCW’s laboratory in Rijswijk, Netherlands and then "dispatched for analysis to the OPCW’s designated labs," the mission said in a statement.

The watchdog said it would "evaluate the situation and consider future steps including another possible visit to Douma."

The OPCW team departed for the city in Eastern Ghouta 11 days after Damascus sent a formal request to the watchdog to inspect the area, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said.

"Such delays in such a resonating case, regardless of the motives, are unacceptable, since not only the Syrian side but the Russian military [stationed in Syria] guaranteed the security of the OPCW team," she stated.

Moscow expects the OPCW to investigate the alleged chemical incident impartially. However,
corruption finds a dozen alibis for its evil deeds...
the mission’s plans to visit fewer sites linked to the purported attack and interview fewer witnesses raises "serious concerns," Zakharova said. According to the spokeswoman, these plans only "demonstrate the unwillingness to shed light on yet another staged provocation with the use of chemicals, which served as a reason for the missile strike" by the US, UK, and La Belle France.

Chemical substance of hexamine found in Douma laboratory -- Russian MoD

[ALMASDARNEWS] Russian broadcaster VGTRK released video on Friday showing an alleged chemical laboratory in Douma, suspected of belonging to Death Eater group Jaish al-Islam
...Liwa al-Islam (Brigade of Islam) was established by Zahran Alloush, the son of Saudi-based religious scholar Abdullah Mohammed Alloush, after Syrian authorities released him from prison in mid-2011 where he had been serving time for his Salafist activism. The group claimed responsibility for carrying out the July 2012 Damascus bombing that killed Defense Minister Dawoud Rajiha, Deputy Defense Minister Asef Shawkat, and Assistant Vice President Hassan Turkmani. It was a driving force behind actions in the Damascus region. It cooperated and conducted joint operations with al-Nusra. In Sptember 2013 Saudi Arabia engineered Liwa al-Islam's merger with fifty other more or less Salafist groups as a counterweight to al-Nusra, which the Learned Elders of Islam considered was growing too powereful...
According to Russian Defence Ministry’s military expert on radiation, chemical, and biological protection, Alexander Rodionov, "the specialists from radiation, chemical and biological protection’s corpses conducted extra examination in the chemical laboratory discovered in Douma."

He went on to say that "they discovered a lot of the chemical substance of hexamine that can be used for production of explosives as well as for synthesis of the poisonous substance sarin."

Several Western powers, led by the United States, claimed chemical substances were used by Syrian government forces on April 7. The claim has been denied by Damascus and Moscow, who called the allegations a "fabrication."

On April 14 the US, UK and La Belle France launched Arclight airstrikes against multiple government targets in Damascus as a response to the alleged chemical attack against Syrian civilians.
