Kerry To Join Cairo Talks On Rebuilding Gaza
[IsraelTimes] Secretary of State John F. I was in Vietnam, you know Kerry
Former Senator-for-Life from Massachussetts, self-defined war hero, speaker of French, owner of a lucky hat, conqueror of Cambodia, and current Secretary of State...
will take part in a conference on rebuilding Gazoo, devastated by a 50-day conflict with Israel earlier this year, a US official said Monday.
Goody. Was he invited, d'you suppose, or did he just horn his way in?
Kerry "will be attending the conference" to be held in Cairo on October 12, State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki
...a valley girl who woke up one morning and found she was spokeswoman for the U.S. Department of State...
told news hounds.

The Paleostinian government on Thursday unveiled a 76-page reconstruction plan for Gazoo, calling for $4 billion to rebuild the war-battered territory, with the largest amount going to build housing for some 100,000 left homeless.

The report said $4 billion (3.2 billion euros) would be needed for the "direct costs" of rebuilding the coastal territory. It would include $1.9 billion for public and private infrastructure repairs, and $1.2 billion for "reactivating economic productivity."

The priority will be to remove rubble and unwent kaboom! shells, while also repairing Gazoo's power station and improving access to water, health care and education.

Last month, the US unveiled an additional $71 million in emergency aid to Gazoo, highlighting that "more than 580,000 people are still sheltering in United Nations
...a lucrative dumping ground for the relatives of dictators and party hacks...
facilities."

It brought the US total funding since the start of the war to more than $118 million.

"Basic necessities like food, clean water, and fuel remain in short supply throughout the territory," the State Department warned in a September statement.

Egypt police use teargas against pro-Morsi protesters
[Iran Press TV] Egyptian police have used tear gas against anti-government protesters in the capital Cairo and several other cities across the North African country.

According to reports on Monday, the supporters of Egypt's ousted president, Mohammed Morsi, rallied in several cities to commemorate the anniversary of the October 6, 2013, crackdown on anti-government protesters which has left over 50 people dead.

At least 35 demonstrators, who were supporters of the country's Moslem Brüderbund, were incarcerated

in Cairo and other provinces.

According to Egyptian security officials, protesters were carrying pictures of the ousted president and chanting slogans against the army and police.

The protesters also denounced a military coup against Morsi led by the former military chief, Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, and demanded the release of political detainees.

Bangladesh
'India alerts Bangladesh about terror strikes'
[Dhaka Tribune] India has alerted Bangladesh regarding bombs being assembled in a house in West Bengal were meant for terror strikes in Bangladesh.

The Hindustan Times reported that top Indian intelligence officials have alerted the National Security Intelligence (NSI) and Director General of Forces Intelligence in Dhaka.

According to the report published on Monday, two alleged bomb-makers -- Shamim Shakil Ahmed and Svopan Mondal -- were killed in a blast at a house in Burdwan on October 2. Both of them were Bangladeshis.

The men and rest of the group were members of banned Islamist outfit Jamaat'ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB), it said.

Shamim's wife Rumi Bibi told security agencies they had sent four consignments of bombs to Bangladesh through couriers -- Kausar and Rasiq -- in the last three months.

He said the bombs were not being made for attacks in India.

Rumi and Ameena Bibi were placed in durance vile

on Sunday morning. Ameena's husband Abdul Hakim was injured in the blast and now he is being treated at the Burdwan Medical College Hospital.

On Sunday, security agencies along with local police conducted raids at least three places in West Bengal to nab JMB cadres. They were also looking for a Murshidabad-based "religious motivator", sources said.

It is understood that Bangaldesh has given India the names of three JMB members involved in anti-government activities and are said to be based in Bengal, the report said.

Europe
Trojan horse: ISIS militants come to Europe disguised as refugees, US intel sources claim
[RT] Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
Lions of Islam are planning to insert operatives into Western Europe disguised as refugees, claim US intelligence sources, who unencrypted locked communications of the caliphate's leadership.

The murderous Moslem organization is afraid of using aircraft due to strict security rules, so they use land as an alternative, the US sources told Bild Am Sonntag, a German national Sunday newspaper.

Disguised as refugees from Syria, Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS) operatives will cross the border to Turkey. Then, using fake passports, they will travel further to European countries to conduct attacks.

"In view of the chaotic conditions on the Syria-Turkey border, it is nearly impossible to catch ISIS-faceless myrmidons in the wave of refugees," wrote Bild Am Sonntag.

Because hundreds of refugees cross the Syrian-Turkish border every day, the jihadists have a good chance of remaining unnoticed in the crowds.

Turkey is also used by jihadists who want to join the IS in Syria, as they don't need a visa to get there. They go on 'vacations' as tourists and upon arrival have almost no trouble finding a way to cross the border.

According to one of Iraq's foremost security experts with unique access to intelligence, at least 100,000 jihadists were fighting in the ranks of the IS in August.

There are some 15,000 imported muscle from the IS in Syria alone, including 2,000 Westerners, a US intelligence official told AFP in September.

#2  It is rare to have an army trying to expand that would be willing to send desperately needed assets to another theater. They are either very clever (in hoping to scare Europe into inaction, and provoke hostility towards real refugees) or stupid for defusing their forces when they most likely will need them.

Or this is typical western security forces looking for excuses to clamp down a bit more.

TTP says backs all Syria militants, not just Islamic State
[DAWN] The Pak Taliban on Monday denied reports that it had pledged allegiance to the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. movement fighting in Syria and Iraq, saying that its statement to the media had been misinterpreted.

Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistain (TTP) front man Shahid Shahidullah said that a statement on Saturday had been intended as an expression of support for all Islamist Lions of Islam fighting in Syria and Iraq and struggling against Western interests.

"Some media did not publish our statement correctly," Shahidullah told Rooters by telephone from some holy man's guesthouse an undisclosed location. "We are not supporting any specific group in Syria or Iraq; all groups there are noble and they are our brothers."

On Saturday, Shahidullah said the Taliban would offer "every possible support" to Islamic State, a statement which several media outlets, including Rooters, reported as a declaration of allegiance to the group.

Islamic State has seized swathes of territory in Syria and Iraq and earned notoriety for its brutality, including beheadings and crucifixions.

An alliance between the Taliban and Islamic State would have represented a significant expansion of Islamic State's reach and a further challenge to Western powers already struggling to contain Islamic State in the Middle East.

But on Monday, Shahidullah said the Pak Taliban continued to align itself with Mullah Omar
... a minor Pashtun commander in the war against the Soviets who made good as leader of the Taliban. As ruler of Afghanistan, he took the title Leader of the Faithful. The imposition of Pashtunkhwa on the nation institutionalized ignorance and brutality in a country already notable for its own fair share of ignorance and brutality...
, the elusive one-eyed leader of the Afghan Taliban.

"Mullah Omar is our head and we are following him," he said.

Omar is close to some of al Qaeda's most big shots.

Analysts say that Islamic State and al Qaeda, which criminal masterminded the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks on the United States, are in direct competition for fighters and funds.

"People trying to talk to Syria (Islamic Front) instead of Mullah Omar are not going to find much sympathy in the Taliban community," said Saifullah Mahsud of the Fata Research Centre, an Islamabad-based think-tank with extensive Taliban contacts.

Aslam said Pakistain strongly condemns the Indian Security Forces' unprovoked firing, which violated the ceasefire at the working boundary at the Charwah sector today.

'14,000 tribals to join Pakistain Army'
[DAWN] The military chief on Monday announced an uplift scheme for the residents of the volatile Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA), promising induction in army ranks as well as education and employment opportunities.

An Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) statement issued today quoted the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif as saying that the policy titled 'Fata Youth Package' will induct into the army 14,000 men from the region over the course of next five years. The total strength of the military's active troops is over 500,000.

According to the ISPR, the package also entails free education to 1,500 Fata children through army public schools and colleges in all cantonments, with reserved seats for Fata students in military cadet colleges on a yearly basis.

The army will also work to enhance technical skills among the Fata youth through technical training institutes, adding that arrangements are already being worked upon for their overseas employment, the statement said.

The troubled mountainous area has been a hideout for years for Death Eaters of all stripes -- including al-Qaeda and the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistain as well as imported muscle.

Iraq
Iran's elite general fighting in Iraq
[ARABNEWS] Iranian television published a rare picture Monday of its elite Quds Force chief in Iraq that was widely circulated online, puncturing the mystique of one of the region's most powerful men.

The image of Major General Qassem Suleimani purportedly showing him on an Iraqi battlefield was published on the website of IRINN state television
... and if you can't believe state television who can you believe?
, and repeatedly shared on Twitter. Grinning widely, Suleimani, easily identified by his greying hair and beard, was seen standing alongside Kurdish peshmerga fighters. IRINN did not say where the picture was taken.

Iran initially denied Suleimani was in Iraq, but several pictures used in official media have appeared to confirm his presence near battles against forces of Evil from the Islamic State

#2  Again, IRAN is refusing to commit any of its major conventional forces to fight the ISIS/ISIL unless the Nucprog issues wid the US-Israel, etal. is formally resolved.

It has Hezbollah in Lebanon-Syria, + local Shia "Qadir" Militias in Iraq, + it will likely retaliate militarily, albeit limited, iff the ISIS gets too close to Iran proper for Tehran's comfort.

The above being said, the ultimate or top priority for the US-NATO/EU right now is preventing the ISIS from destabilizing + expanding into Turkey.

IFF THE US-WEST FEARED ANYTHING AS PER THE OVERTHROW OF THE SHAH OF IRAN BACK IN THE LATE 1970'S, IT WILL BE much WORSE WID AN ISIS-CONTROLLED TURKEY.

Wid IRAN expanding its sphere from Iraq to Syria + Lebanon [East Med], any ISIS-controlled Turkey can expand only towards RUSSIA + EASTERN EUROPE [NATO-EU].

THE NEED FOR A UNIFIED, WESTERN + EASTERN JUDEOCHRISTIAN/CHRISTIAN MILPOL BARRIER IN THE UKRAINE [Crimea] + BLACK SEA REGION AGZ THE EXPANSION-HAPPY ISIS/ISIL CALIPHATE IN SYRIA-IRAQ IS MORE IMPERATIVE NOW THANKS TO THE LOOMING ISIS THREAT TO TURKEY.

US fabricated new terror threat to satisfy UN Charter: Analyst
[Iran Press TV] The United States has concocted a new terror threat, known as the Khorasan Group, to satisfy the UN Charter which allows the use of force without authorization in case of an "imminent threat," says an analyst.

"The very idea of the Khorasan Group is a fiction spun out of thin air to satisfy the UN Charter, which specifies that one nation may not attack another without UN Security Council approval, unless it is confronted by an 'imminent threat'," political commentator James Henry Fetzer told Press TV via email on Monday.

Fetzer, professor emeritus at the University of Minnesota Duluth, explained that the fabrication of this latest threat by the US to justify its bombing campaign in Syria is in line with "a reversal of US foreign policy" since Sept.11, 2001 attacks.

Kurdish-Americans Appeal for US Action in Kobane
NEW YORK - Kurdish-American campaigners are pressuring the US Government to better support embattled Syrian Kurds in Kobane, where Islamic State (IS) fighters are making gains against the holdouts.

Kurdish-Americans across the US have appealed to Senators to boost support for Syrian Kurds who are defending Kobane – a Kurdish town near the Syria-Turkey border – from IS, the sectarian Sunni militia that is also known as ISIS and ISIL.

“Kobane has been surrounded for almost two weeks; the latest reports indicate that the city is under heavy bombardment and parts of the city may have fallen,” says a campaign letter that has circulated among hundreds of Kurdish-Americans.

“If democratic nations fail to provide immediate military support to Kurdish fighters, Kobane will suffer the same tragic fate as Shingal,” it adds, referring to the massacres of Christian minorities in Iraq this summer.
It does rather seem as though Champ is unconcerned about the plight of the Kurds even as he talks tough about stopping the IS. You'd think he'd be more than happy to let the Kurds do his fighting for him. Wonder what Erdogan has on him?
IS forces have besieged Kobane for nearly three weeks, forcing more than 160,000 civilians, mostly Kurds, to flee into Turkey. US-led forces have carried out airstrikes on IS forces around Kobane but have not halted their advance.

Washington’s approach to Kobane is influenced by that of its NATO ally, Turkey, which has authorized the use of military force in Syria and Iraq but is reluctant to help Syrian Kurds, who have links with Turkey’s own restive Kurdish population.
It's more than that. Erdogan has something on Champ...
Last week, US Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel rejected plans for a “buffer zone” in which Turkish troops would defend a protected area some 10 kilometers into Syria that includes Kobane, which is also known as Ayn al-Arab in Arabic.

“We continue to talk with the Turkish government about many options. But there are no plans for that option right now,” Hagel told reporters on Friday.

But many Kurdish-Americans demand tougher and faster action from Washington. Dr Amir Sharifi, a linguistics lecturer at California State University, said that abandoning Kobane’s Kurds would be a betrayal of liberal values.

“The world agrees that it should be stopped, but is the world community genuinely taking action to prevent IS from committing another massacre in Kobane?” Sharifi told Rudaw. “Kobane should become a rallying point for the struggle against the Islamist fascism.”

#1  The Kurds are claiming that the US-led airstrikes isn't stopping ISIS/ISIL on the ground - the latter in the meantime have repor taken a few neighborhoods in Kobani from Kurd resistance, + have hoisted their black flags over same.

The ISIS/ISIL have made direct threats agz the US + have killed American hostages - AFAIC the Bammer is already more than justified in sending US troops back to Iraq andor into Syria.

The prob for the Kurds is that, as a OWG Globalist, the Bammer may be more interested in empowering + having Co-Superpower IRAN, Other? take the lead in the ME.

E.g. the recent HEZBOLLAH-VS-AL-NUSRA fight in Lebanon.

To be sure, ISRAEL + US Muslim Allies are feeling twitchy.

#2  ISIS is coming in with artillery, armored vehicles (including tanks and APCs). All the Kurds have are small arms and some mortars. And US forces flying at 30,000 feet dropping bombs only when and where the lawyers say.

Give the Kurds artillery and heavy weaponry. They've only been asking for it for years.

How long would it take us to teach them to fly those A-10s our Air Force doesn't want anymore?

#4  At least a year if they have pilots with jet experience. Two, if you want them to be proficient. They also need trained maintenance support. Also, trained Kurdish Forward Air Controllers, comms equipment, etc.

Ain't like you can open a box of Instant Close Air Support.

Instant is the last word I'd think of about this mess. More like the Hundred Years' War (1337 to 1453) over France.

#6  OK, but can't we at least send them some Obama-phones and EBT cards?

#7  Would be cool to drop at brigade of the 82nd in behind ISIS vicinity Kobane at about 0300 in the morning. Tell the Bde Cdr to simply push to the Turkish border killing everything in sight, link-up with the Turks, have a beer & BBQ, and fly back to Bragg for a three day pass.

#8  If the 82nd is busy, drop in some ROK's (Republic of Korea) infantry and simply forego the Turk link-up.

#9  Indigenous air support takes a lot of time talent and tech. Artillery does not, just good supply lines, decent comma and good spotters. That's why the Kurds need artillery. We can get gun crews trained up quicker than anything, including armor. And with a good range and enough tubes, artillery can stop ISIS dead. Especially with US spotting counter battery from overhead.

Militarily, it just makes sense. Which means politics is why its not happening.
