Sayyaf Condemns Terrorists, Foreign Spies
[Tolo News] Abdul Rab Rasool Sayyaf
...Afghan Salafist warlord, owned by Saudi Arabia. He was the guy who invited al-Qaeda to come into Afghanistan and make themselves at home...
, the head of Hizb-e-Dawat-e-Islami and a former Jihadi commander, spoke on Tuesday at a ceremony in Kabul commemorating Ahmad Shah Massoud's 13th martyrdom anniversary, where he called aiding and abetting terrorism a violation of Islam and condemned the influence of foreign intelligence services in Afghanistan.

Sayyaf, one of the most respected religious scholars in Afghanistan, and known as an outspoken critic of the Taliban, said that praying for terrorists, driving them around and helping them conduct their attacks are all acts against Islamic teachings.

The history of the Afghan resistance to the Soviet invasion can be dated from the nineteen sixties and the intersecting lives of three members of the Muslim Brotherhood: Abdul Rab Rasul Sayyaf, Burhanuddin Rabbani, and Gulbuddin Hekmatyar. These three Islamist military leaders led the most active mujahideen forces that emerged following the Soviet invasion.

Death of leader will cause al-Shabaab to 'fall apart'
[MAGHAREBIA] The recent death of al-Shabaab
... the Islamic version of the old Somali warlord...
's leader in a drone strike is leading many Somalis to predict the collapse of the terror group.

The US government confirmed last Friday that Ahmed Abdi Godane, also known as Mukhtar Abu al-Zubayr, had been killed by an Arclight airstrike four days earlier.

In an audio message posted Saturday (September 6th) on murderous Moslem websites, al-Shabaab front man Ali Mohamud Rage said that Ahmed Omar (aka Abu Ubaidah) had been named as Godane's successor.

"The leadership also renews its allegiance to the mujahideen of al-Qaeda," he added.

But according to Cheikh Nur Barud Gurhan, the deputy chairman of the Somali Association of Islamic Scholars, Godane's death strikes a blow to al-Shabaab and its ally al-Qaeda.

The newly appointed commander "will certainly not have the ability to keep the group together like Godane did", the cheikh said. "Further, it is possible that many within the group are not satisfied with the new leader, which could result in groups splintering from al-Shabaab."

The new al-Shabaab commander is unlikely to live up to Godane, agreed Omar Dahir Sheikh Abdirahman, the director of Mogadishu's Centre for Moderation and Dialogue.

"Godane was a harsh leader who could lure people with either poetry or sermons and be persuasive. No one can take his place," he said.

"Al-Shabaab will most likely fall apart. There are many people who would have left, but they were afraid Godane would kill them," Abdirahman added.

Godane's death comes nearly a week after the African Union
...a union consisting of 53 African states, most run by dictators of one flavor or another. The only all-African state not in the AU is Morocco. Established in 2002, the AU is the successor to the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), which was even less successful...
Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) and Somali government forces launched Operation Indian Ocean, a major offensive aimed at seizing key ports from al-Shabaab and cutting off one of their key sources of revenue -- multi-million dollar exports of charcoal. Since the operation began, allied forces have pushed al-Shabaab back on a number of fronts.

"In the near future, al-Shabaab can be expected to carry out major kabooms and attacks...as Dire Revenge™ for their slain leader," former Radio Mogadishu news hound Liban Abdi Ali noted. "However,
it was a brave man who first ate an oyster...
the important thing is al-Shabaab is on the path to future destruction."

Now would be a good time for the Somali government to talk to Al-Shabaab, suggested Abdirahman, the director of the Centre for Moderation and Dialogue.

"In my opinion, there is no leader who is currently alive who believes in al-Qaeda ideology like Godane did. Therefore, it is possible that [remaining al-Shabaab leaders] will reconcile with the government and abandon the battle they are waging," he said. "The government has to take advantage of that opportunity."

"The new commander can be useful if engaged in dialogue. The way to do this is to extend amnesty to and then reconcile with al-Shabaab so that they put their weapons down," Abdirahman added.

Abdi Aynte, who heads the Mogadishu-based Heritage Institute for Policy Studies, supports the idea of including al-Shabaab in Somalia's grinding of the peace processor.

"It is better to reconcile with the ones whose ambition is confined to Somalia, and who are not engaged in global jihad," he said.

Houthi Shia leader: Yemenis protest at gov't terror policy
[ABNA.IR] The leader of the Shia Houthi
...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The Yemeni government has accused the Houthis of having ties to the Iranian government, which wouldn't suprise most of us. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to Americaâtm¢, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews ...
fighters in Yemen says the people in the impoverished country are protesting against the government's policy of terror and threat.

Abdul-Malik al-Houthi said in a TV address on Monday that state corruption has outraged the protesters and the government of President Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi's policy of terror would make the people even more resolute to address the problem of corruption in Yemen.

Isis Recruitment Moves From Online Networks To British Mosques
When the Guardian will no longer avert their collective eyes in maidenly PC modesty...
[TheGuardian] Growing evidence that Britannia is a specific target for jihadis looking to exploit fundamentalist Islam

Networks of bully boyz are re-emerging in British mosques and elsewhere to encourage and facilitate Moslems wanting to travel to Syria and Iraq to fight for Islamic State (Isis).

Until now most fighters from Britannia who are known to have travelled to Syria have been persuaded and helped via online networks where snuffies provide advice on crossing the Turkish border and linking up with Isis fighters.

French Muslims denounce IS atrocities, hijacking of Islam
[ARABNEWS] The Moslem Council in La Belle France, home to Europe's largest Islamic minority, denounced the persecution of Middle East Christians on Tuesday and said mosques across the country would pray for them this week.

In a joint statement with a Christian group, the Council (CFCM) said "barbarians are perpetrating crimes against humanity" in the region "exploiting Islam as their banner."

Several French Moslem groups have already condemned the harsh tactics of Islamic State, the radical movement that has declared a caliphate in Syria and Iraq, but this was the first time they got together with Christians to support the victims.

Brussels Shooter Planned Massive Attack In Paris
[IsraelTimes] Mehdi Nemmouche, the man who allegedly shot up the Brussels Jewish Museum earlier this year, killing four, reportedly plotted a large attack during Gay Paree's Bastille Day celebrations.

Based on the testimony of four French news hounds who were kidnapped by the Islamic State and held captive by Nemmouche, French daily Liberation reported Monday that the returned IS fighter planned "at least one attack in La Belle France, in the heart of Gay Paree, which would be at least five times bigger than the attacks in Toulouse
...lies on the banks of the River Garonne, half-way between the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. The Toulouse metropolitan area is the fourth-largest in La Belle France...
." The attack would allegedly have taken place on Gay Paree's iconic Champs Elysees boulevard on July 14, the French national holiday marking the beginning of the revolution.

The March 2012 Toulouse attacks targeting Jews and soldiers in the southern French city left seven dead and five injured, and the suspected perpetrator, Mohammed Merah, killed himself after a 30-hour siege.

Nemmouche, who was extradited to Belgium over the May 24, 2014, Brussels shooting, which killed four people, was identified this weekend by a French journalist as being among his Islamic Death Eater captors in Syria.

Revelations that the suspected gunman in the deadly shooting at the Jewish Museum had also served as a captor and torturer in Syria shows Europe's vulnerability to terror attacks, experts said.

Writing on the website of his former employer Le Point magazine, Nicolas Henin said the 29-year-old was his feared and violent jailer between July and December 2013.

The claim immediately set off alarm bells in Europe.

"This is the first successful terrorist act on European soil linked to Syrian networks," said terrorism expert Jean-Charles Brisard.

Hundreds of others like Nemmouche, a Frenchie of Algerian descent, have returned to Europe as battle-hardened veterans with a capacity to sow terror and create havoc.

"It's a mass phenomenon which is increasingly growing," said Louis Caprioli, who headed the anti-terror wing of La Belle France's domestic intelligence agency between 1998 and 2004.

British Prime Minister David Cameron
... has stated that he is certainly a big Thatcher fan, but I don't know whether that makes me a Thatcherite, which means he's not. Since he is not deeply ideological he lacks core principles and is easily led. He has been described as certainly not a Pitt, Elder or Younger, but he does wear a nice suit so maybe he's Beau Brummel ...
has said at least 500 people from Britannia have gone to Syria and Iraq to wage jihad of whom about 250 have returned.

In La Belle France, about 950 people are thought to fight or have fought in Syria, have returned or are in the process of going there.

Brisard, who puts the number of Europeans who have fought in Iraq and Syria or are still fighting there at about 3,200, says Europe is ripe for fresh terror attacks.

"The secret services know it is just a question of time," he said, a view echoed by US terrorism expert Matthew Olsen, who says the threat for Europe is "relatively immediate."

French journalist Henin, one of a group of four journalist hostages freed in April, said Nemmouche was a dreaded figure.

"When Nemmouche was not singing, he was torturing," wrote Henin in an article published on Saturday. "He was part of a small group of Frenchies whose visits would terrify the 50-odd Syrian prisoners held in the cells nearby. Every night the blows would start raining down in the room, where I was also interrogated. The torture lasted all night, until dawn prayers."

Nemmouche is slated to appear on September 12 before a Brussels judge who will decide whether to extend his preventive detention.

The attack in broad daylight left an Israeli couple, a Frenchwoman and a Belgian man dead, and raised fears of more terror attacks.

Nemmouche was jugged
Keep yer hands where we can see 'em, if yez please!
in the southern French city of Marseille days afterwards.

He has been sentenced seven times in La Belle France, including for armed robbery, and has spent seven years in jail, where he was found proselytizing Islam.

Chuck Todd: Obama on Verge of 'Jimmy Carter-Like Damage' to Dems
[MEDIAITE] NBC's Chuck Todd said Wednesday, ahead of Barack Obama

's ISIS speech, that the president is close to tarnishing the Democratic Party in the same way Jimmy Carter
... the worst president ever. Maybe the second worst. The votes aren't all in yet...
's unpopularity did.

A new Wall Street Journal-NBC News poll shows that Republicans are overwhelmingly favored by Americans on sustaining a strong U.S. national defense.

On MSNBC's Morning Joe, show host Joe Scarborough said Obama's favorability has suffered "because he's been seen as dragging his feet on this crisis." Scarborough was referring to Obama's muddied response to ISIS, an Islamic terrorist network based in Syria and Iraq that has grabbed credit for beheading two American journalists.

"It's not just him, it's actually impacting the entire Democratic Party," Todd said. "He's on the precipice of doing Jimmy Carter-like damage to the Democratic brand on foreign policy."

Obama is scheduled to deliver a speech regarding ISIS on Wednesday at 9 p.m. ET.

Terror plotter faces longer prison term
[ARABNEWS] Convicted terrorism plotter Jose Padilla is going before a federal judge to face a longer prison term after a federal appeals court ruled his original sentence was too lenient.

US District Judge Marcia Cooke was to impose the new sentence at a hearing Tuesday. She originally gave Padilla more than 17 years behind bars for his 2007 convictions on charges of supporting Al-Qaeda and terrorism conspiracy.

Prosecutors are seeking a 30-year sentence. Padilla's lawyer says he still deserves less.

India Warns Of Increased Threat Against Israeli Tourists
[Ynet] Internal Security Minister in India orders greater security measures for possible targets, cites increased al-Qaeda activity, upcoming Jewish holidays.

The likely-hood of attacks against Israelis traveling in India has increased, said security officials in the country Monday evening, citing al-Qaeda's recent public announcement of expansion into the Asian sub-continent. A report on India TV suggested that upcoming Jewish holidays and increased Israeli tourism as factors in the State's warning.

According to the same report, India's Interior Security Minister ordered to increase security at sites that could serve as targets against Israelis including air and seaports, buses transporting organized groups between popular tourist attractions and synagogues.

The report comes after previous warnings were issued in the region including an alert from Israel's Defense Ministry that was passed on to its counterpart India four months ago.

According to Indian officials, the warning was attributed to an active threat from a terrorist in the area with connections to the "Indian Muhajadeen". The figure was captured by intelligence services in India.

Through the incident it was revealed that members of the group had met in Pakistain with counterparts from al-Qaeda. There, they discussed the need to expand terrorist operations and sustain a continuing, international threat.

A joint terrorist attack in Mumbai in November 2008 resulted in the death of 170 people. The coordinated operation included taking control of several key buildings in the city including the local Chabad House.

Only one terrorist, Ajmal Kasab, was captured in the military retaliation by Indian forces. During questioning, he admitting to being a member of Lashkar-e-Taiba

Congenial new Iraq leader wins allies, but no easy path to save nation
[IN.REUTERS] It is no coincidence that Iraq's new prime minister is more likeable than his predecessor. Haider al-Abadi was handpicked last month to detoxify a political system poisoned to the point of collapse under the dour and mercurial Nuri al-Maliki.

A former engineer widely described as an amiable and witty pragmatist, Abadi vindicated supporters at home and abroad by including Sunnis, Kurds and members of his own divided Shi'ite majority in a unity government approved by parliament on Monday.

Diplomats and politicians from across Iraq's political spectrum say they believe Abadi is far better suited to bridging differences than Maliki, who was pushed out of office last month with a third of his country in the hands of Islamic State.

Israel Giving US Satellite Images Of Islamic State
[IsraelTimes] Israel has provided the US with intelligence and satellite images on Islamic State positions, as well as information on Westerners joining its ranks, to assist Washington in its ongoing operation against the Islamic State, Rooters reported Monday, citing an unnamed Western official.

Israeli spy satellites were said to have greater access to the region, allowing the US to "fill out its information and get a better battle damage assessment" in the aftermath of its Arclight airstrikes, the diplomat said, according to the report.

The news came as a State Department spokeswoman said that more than 40 countries have already indicated a willingness to help out in some way against the myrmidons, who have seized a swath of Syria and northern Iraq.

#1  Israel has provided the US with intelligence and satellite images

WTF????

All help is great but since when does the US have to go elsewhere for satellite images??

Help with Arabic and Social media sure, the buffoons we've got would go with a stronger hash-tag, but satellite images?????

#2  Satellite images are one thing, imagery analysis fused with Human Intelligence (HUMINT) and other disciplines is yet another.

Anyone [besides me] notice the tone down of anti-Israeli rhetoric coming out of the White House in the last few weeks. Probably just a coincidence, or did Champ and ValJar get the DCI's memo ?

#3  Two months from mid-term elections as well.

You're right. Probably just a coincidence.

#4  "What the goal of the coalition is is to coordinate on the threat that ISIL poses," Jen Psaki said

Compare and contrast that with "The goal of the coalition is to eliminate ISIL". State Department wankers.

... the Grand Vizier of the Hezbullies...
asserted Tuesday in Tehran that the resistance forces, including Hezbollah, Iran, Syria and Paleostinian as well as the Iraqi resistance, are coherent and cooperative.

South Africa Wants To Resume Iran Oil Imports In Three Months
[Ynet] South Africa wants to resume oil imports from Iran, once its biggest supplier, and hopes to resolve "sanction issues" that have blocked purchases within the next three months, its deputy foreign minister said on Tuesday.

South Africa bought around 68,000 barrels of oil per day (bpd) from Iran in May 2012, a month before it halted crude purchases as Western countries pressured Tehran over its nuclear programme. That was well down from peak purchases in 2011.

Africa's second biggest crude consumer imports around 380,000 bpd, with Soddy Arabia

overtaking Iran as its biggest supplier in 2012 when Western sanctions increased. Nigeria, Angola and Ghana also sell South Africa oil.

It Seems Those Irish Troops Had Help Rescuing The Filipino Troops From Al Nusra
Since neither the UN nor the Irish have mentioned it...
[IsraelTimes] IDF forces played a crucial role in helping Irish soldiers rescue UN troops from the clutches of Syrian jihadists in a fierce clash on the border with Israel last week.

Senior military sources said that Irish soldiers would have been killed or taken captive if it weren't for action taken by the IDF on August 30 during a mission to evacuate dozens of Filipino soldiers who were surrounded by a larger force of krazed killers, the Irish Independent reported on Sunday.

Israel reportedly guided the Irish soldiers in their charge to save the trapped members of the United Nations

Disengagement Observer Force, helping them to steer away from concentrations of krazed killer units who would have been able to outgun the Irish force. There were also unconfirmed reports that the IDF fired directly at krazed killer positions during the operation.

Under cover of darkness, 40 Filipino peacekeepers who were surrounded and came under fire by Syrian rebels in the Golan Heights made their overnight daring escape at the end of August. Forty-four Fijian soldiers remained in the hands of the krazed killers.
And now you know the rest of the story.
