Pro-Palestinian Organizations Target Israeli Shipping Firm
Heads up, West Coasters -- coming to a place near you.
[Ynet] Facebook page calling on supporters to 'block the boat for Gazoo' plans several actions against Zim vessels attempting to dock in US.

Pro-Paleostinian organizations have announced that they will begin sabotaging the operations of shipping company Zim in the United States.

Under a banner of "Block the Boat for Gazoo," the action's organizers called for people to stop the firm's vessels from docking at ports and unloading their merchandise.

The protest's first action — according to the group's Facebook page — will be an attempt to prevent the docking of a fat merchantman in Oakland, Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party,. They are expected to protest in the port area.

The group said "the world has watched in horror as Israel has continued to bombard and devastate Gazoo. Millions around the globe have come out in support of the Paleostinian people and against the Zionist regime, holding massive marches, demonstrations, and actions. It's time to step it up. "

After the action in Oakland, activists are expected to attempt similar efforts in Seattle and Vancouver — part of a protest movement that will grow and spread across borders and countries, according to the organizers.

In response, Zim said that "the company trusts the local authorities to perform their legal duties."

Don't bet on it in Washingtonsatn Zim; our illustrious (D) governor recently pulled the Wa State patrol from escorting Wa State Ag inspectors from a grain terminal that was the object of a bitter strike/lockout. W/out the grain inspectors, no grain could be shipped. So the illustrious (D) governor showed that not only is he in the union's pocket but he also gave a big F.U. to the farmers as well.
I suspect he will not support any LEO presence at a ZIM docking where protestors are. Just another Donk P.O.S.

Afghanistan
Cash-strapped Afghanistan in renewed crisis
[Dhaka Tribune] The Afghan government is running out of funds despite an influx of millions of dollars in aid as a deadlock over who won the election drives a sharp decline in revenues, already suffering from the drawdown of thousands of foreign troops.

The government faces difficulty paying salaries next month and has once more gone cap in hand to donors for help, a senior finance ministry official said on condition of anonymity, because of the sensitivity of the topic.

The US embassy in Kabul confirmed Afghan officials had briefed them about their difficulty paying salaries and funding programs in coming months, but did not detail how donors planned to respond.

"While the US and the donor community... are working closely with Afghan authorities to avoid any major disruptions in critical services...resolving this situation requires action by Afghan authorities first and foremost," a State Department official said.

Students Guilty of Burning School in Shakar Dara
[Tolo News] Four students were found guilty of burning their school down to ashes in Shakar Dara district of Kabul in an attempt to destroy their documents for missing school.

Ghaza High School was burned to the ground last week on Wednesday.

The four students responsible for the crime have confessed to their wrongdoing, police say. The local police are still in search for the fourth student involved in the offense.

"The four of us went to the school to destroy our attendance records, but couldn't find it so we ignited the principal's office," said Abdul Safoor Danesh, one of the four guilty students.

Shakar Dara's Police Commander, Zemarai Naseri, said the four students were on a mission to erase their attendance records in efforts to take part in their exams.

"Four students who could not take part in the exams because of their excessive absences planned to save themselves from being expelled by burning the documents," Naseri said. "After failing to find the needed documents, they destroyed the chairs and ignited the principal's office and expeditiously departed at a goodly pace."

The principle of Ghaza High School said that all the documents have been destroyed in the fire.

"They have committed a grave felony," said Jan Agha Saheb, the education manager of the district. "They lit a sheet of paper on fire and threw it in the principal's office. Despite all efforts, we could not put out the fire."

The four students guilty of the misdemeanor are under the age of 18. They are in the ninth, tenth and eleventh grade.

The scene of the crime led many to guess that anti-government groups were behind the act, but after thorough investigations, the local police and community were stunned to find that a few underage children were behind the wrongdoing.

Total Death Toll In Pro-Morsi Egypt Protests Rises To Nine
[IsraelTimes] An Egyptian health official said the corpse count from violence during protests by supporters of the country's ousted Islamist president has risen to five. The protesters were killed during festivities on the anniversary of the dispersal of two Cairo sit-ins.

Emergency services chief Mohammed Sultan said Saturday the five were killed in the capital a day earlier. He said the violence left 34 people maimed.

This raises the corpse count from two days of festivities during small, scattered protests to nine people. The demonstrations come on the one-year anniversary of the Aug. 14 break-up of two protest camps by supporters of toppled President Mohammed Morsi, killing hundreds.

Morsi supporters have been demonstrating since his ouster last summer. Their numbers, however, have sharply decreased amid a security crackdown that left tens of thousands detained.

Bangladesh
JMB recruiting Rohingyas as it regroups
[Dhaka Tribune] The law enforcers earlier claimed that they had broken the backbone of banned holy warrior outfit Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB), which came up with much-unprecedented scale of terror attacks including the simultaneous blasts of 459 time bombs in 63 districts on August 17, 2005.

But it did not happen, apparently because of the ongoing regrouping efforts carried out secretly by the organisers of the group, which was banned on February 13, 2005.

In the recent times, the JMB has again become a matter of concern for the law enforcers, especially after the snatching of its three convicted leaders from police custody in Trishal, Mymensingh in February this year.

Europe
Mercenaries, Extremists Become Major Balkans Export
[RFERL.ORG] During the Cold War, Yugoslavia sent thousands of teachers, doctors, engineers, and other professionals to work in all corners of the globe.

Now some of the countries of the former Yugoslavia are becoming notorious for a different human export -- jihadists and mercenaries. And the numbers seem to be on the rise, despite measures in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Kosovo, and Serbia to stop the traffic.

On August 8, a Bosnian citizen named Emrah Fojnica, 23, went kaboom! in a suicide kaboom in Iraq during an attack by the Islamic State (IS), formerly known as ISIL.

Borders and frontiers provide a 'friction' to social change, slowing down effects. Be careful what you wish for.

#6  Serbs would make good mercenaries: they battled the Germans for 4 years using successful guerrilla warfare tactics; Many Croatians fought well (but cruelly) for the Germans; Bosnian SS Muslim
fought terribly and were the only SS Division to be disbanded by the the Reich during the war. I realize I am generalizing, but I believe the Serbs and Croats would make good mercenaries. (Bosnians and those from Kosovo I would give them the role of suicide bombers - many of this last group are Muslims.)

Yez got nuttin' on me, coppers! Nuttin'!
leader said on Saturday, hailing the start of a new democratic process in the country.

The PKK, which for three decades fought the Turkish authorities in a bloody insurgency seeking greater autonomy for Turkey's Kurdish minority, launched its armed struggle with coordinated attacks on police and security forces on Aug. 15, 1984.

But the group's tossed in the slammer
Yez got nuttin' on me, coppers! Nuttin'!
leader Abdullah Ocalan said in a statement from his prison island of Imrali on the Sea of Marmara that Turkey was now on the verge of "historic developments" after its Aug. 10 presidential elections.

"On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of our struggle, I want to state that we are on the verge of historic developments," Ocalan said in a statement quoted by the Firat news agency which is close to the PKK.

"This 30-year-long war is — through a major democratic negotiation — at the stage of coming to an end."

India-Pakistan
Pakistan Rejects Indian Ambassador Accusations
[Tolo News] The Embassy of Pakistain in Kabul on Saturday released a statement declaring that the claims made about Pakistain supporting terrorism in Afghanistan by the Indian Ambassador to Afghanistan are false.

On Friday, Indian Ambassador Amar Sinha in an exclusive interview with TOLOnews criticized Pakistain for its suspected proxy war tactics and encouragement for terrorism emphasizing that Pakistain is using Afghanistan as its combat zone for its war against India.

"The hard boyz who come to Afghanistan, do they come from Africa? Do they come from Mali or Nigeria? No. We know what these elements are; thousands of books have been written on the sanctuaries of terrorism. Unfortunately, one particular area has become a nursery for training terrorists. They are located in Pakistain and it is not a secret."

In response to Ambassador Sinha's remarks, the Embassy of Pakistain in Kabul released a statement rejecting, what they stated, as "baseless" accusations.

"We have noted with dismay the allegations from Indian Ambassador Amar Sinha maligning Pakistain...the interview was more focused on baseless and unfounded accusations against Pakistain rather than Indo-Afghan relations," the blurb stated.

In the media release, the Embassy of Pakistain states that using another country's "soil" to speak against a third party is not only diplomatic, but in efforts to create divisions between the neighbors.

"It is against diplomatic norms to use Afghan soil to speak against a third country and try to create a rift in Afghanistan's relations with its neighbors."

PAT sit-in marred by confusion
[DAWN] ISLAMABAD: The main Pakistain Awami Tehrik (PAT) rally led by its chief Dr Tahirul Qadri
...Pak politician, and would-be dictator, founder and head of Tehreek-e-Minhajul Quran and Pakistain Awami Tehrik. He usually resides in Canada, but returns to Pakistain periodically to foam at the mouth and lead demonstrations. Depending on which way the wind's blowing, Qadri claims to be the author of Pak's blasphemy law. Other times he says it wasn't him...
, which set off from Model Town in Lahore on Thursday, entered Islamabad city limits on Friday just before midnight.

The venue of the PAT gathering was the subject of much controversy all day Friday. Originally allocated a stretch of the Islamabad Expressway/8th Avenue, PAT leaders campaigned the whole day to try and shift their rallying point, first to Fazl-e-Haq Road (which runs alongside Blue Area) and then to Khayaban-e-Suharwardy (that runs alongside Kashmire Highway).

PAT media coordinator Ghulam Ali told Dawn: "It is our democratic right to hold a sit-in at Fazal-e-Haq Road because it is outside the Red Zone. We have given assurances that the sit-in will be peaceful, but the district administration has not cooperated with us."

Dr Qadri had reportedly refused to hold his public meeting at Zero Point, where most PAT and Pakistain Tehrik-e-Insaf
...a political party in Pakistan. PTI was founded by former Pakistani cricket captain and philanthropist Imran Khan. The party's slogan is Justice, Humanity and Self Esteem, each of which is open to widely divergent interpretations....
workers had been gathering all day. As news of Dr Qadri's arrival in the city began to spread, PAT workers camped out at Zero Point began to move roadblocks and headed towards Aabpara.

During the day, it was difficult to distinguish between PTI and PAT workers as both were scattered across the city. PAT buses were parked alongside Islamabad Expressway and in sectors G-7 and G-8, adjacent to Zero Point.

The administration did not divert traffic on Islamabad Highway, which irked motorists who came down the main artery, only to be confronted by demonstrators and roadblocks.

The rally also did not bear any of the hallmarks that one has come to associate with PAT. The party's signature discipline was nowhere to be seen as workers and supporters roamed around the venue and outside it. There was no security at the venue either; all street lights were switched off and most people spent the better part of Friday night in the dark.

The local administration too seemed disinterested in the march. Police contingents were seen around the area where PAT workers were gathering, but there was no proper checking or frisking of people who wanted to access the rally venue. Walkthrough gates and volunteers, who had managed security for PAT the last time Dr Qadri led a sit-in in the capital, were absent this time around.

Street food vendors dominated the landscape, the crowds around their carts eclipsing all other activity at the venue.

The rain did not make things easier as most people rushed to seek shelter among the trees and in bus stops. "I have seen a number of PAT workers leaving the venue on their vehicles. I think many of them left to go home," said Khaleeq Ahmed, a resident of the area.

Suicide bombers planning to attack PTI, PAT rallies, warns Nisar
[DAWN] The country's top intelligence agencies say holy warriors are planning to carry out suicide kabooms on protest rallies in Islamabad, Interior Minister Nisar Ali Khan told news hounds on Saturday.

"For the past three days, we have been put on a high alert by the intelligence agencies. According to reports, two jacket wallahs are known to have entered (Islamabad and Rawalpindi)," Nisar said during a presser in the federal capital.

"Their aim is to target PTI (Pakistain Tehrik-e-Insaf
...a political party in Pakistan. PTI was founded by former Pakistani cricket captain and philanthropist Imran Khan. The party's slogan is Justice, Humanity and Self Esteem, each of which is open to widely divergent interpretations....
) and PAT (Pakistain Awami Tehrik) rallies."

The interior minister said the reports came from military intelligence agencies.

"I don't want to spread fear or panic — but if something happens tomorrow, it will be the government's responsibility. This information is based on reports from the country's top-most military intelligence agencies," he said.

Nisar urged the leaders and participant of both the PAT and the PTI to coordinate with local administration to ensure better security.

"We have deployed an effective cordon of over 30,000 security personnel. It's not a small security cordon…its massive with very high costs. But the security of the protestors is our responsibility. We want that PTI and PAT coordinate security matters with the local administration," he stressed.

The interior minister said that the two parties had been given permission after a set of conditions were agreed upon.

"The conditions are clear. The Red Zone is a red line. Nobody will be allowed to cross it," he reiterated.

"If any incident occurs, the security agencies are prepared to take appropriate action. Even if a single person crosses the red line, the law will swiftly come into action, he said.

ISIL terrorists helped US get back to Iraq: Analyst
[Iran Press TV] A political analyst says terrorist attacks by the ISIL Takfiri

"As a result of what's happening in Mosul they used the opportunity to get back to Iraq. Now they are bombarding some part of north of Iraq," he said.

The analyst added that the US presence in Iraq would undermine the democratic trend in the conflict-stricken country.

"Their (the Americans) presence in Iraq is detrimental to democratic achievement if we want to achieve democratic rights in Iraq," he said.

Hamas Rejects Cairo Ceasefire Terms, Promises War Of Attrition
[IsraelTimes] Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, on Saturday night rejected an Egyptian proposal for a long-term ceasefire with Israel. Spokesman Osama Hamdan said Israel must either accepts its demands — including for a lifting of the security blockade on Gazoo — or face "a war of attrition." At the same time, Hamas's military wing in Gazoo declared, "We are continuing our struggle."

Israel has not formally responded to the Egyptian proposal — an 11-point proposal that was leaked to the press Friday. Israel's Channel 10 said, however, that Israel was not prepared to dilute its security demands as would be required under the Egyptian proposal.

The Egyptian proposal speaks of lifting the Israeli and Egyptian security blockade on Gazoo, but any such easing of restrictions would apparently be overseen by Israeli and Egyptian forces on their sides of Gazoo's borders, and by the Paleostinian Authority of President the ineffectual Mahmoud Abbas

on the Gazoo side. The PA would also play a dominant role in the reconstruction of post-conflict Gazoo. The Egyptian formula also pushes off negotiations on the opening of a Gazoo seaport and airport — key Hamas demands in recent weeks — to a month's time.

Negotiations on the long-term deal, 40 days after Israel launched Operation Protective Edge against Hamas, were set to resume in Cairo on Sunday morning. It was not clear how Hamas's declared rejection of the Egyptian terms would affect the planned resumption of talks. A five-day truce agreed by Hamas and Israel is to expire at midnight on Monday.

Abbas on Saturday publicly broke ranks with Hamas, declaring in Ramallah that there was no alternative but to "stick to" the Egyptian proposal.

Spokesman Hamdan warned earlier that the terror group's tunnels will be a "strategic threat" to Israel and its rockets will be more precise "next time."

Israel's security cabinet met on Friday, but did not release a formal response to the Egyptian proposals. An unnamed cabinet minister was quoted by Ynet late Saturday predicting the negotiations might collapse, and that it was possible that the sides would revert to "quiet in exchange for quiet" — that is, an informal ceasefire.
In which case Hamas gets absolutely none of its demands...
The official said that the Israeli negotiation team will return to Cairo on Sunday — not Saturday as previously reported — to continue the talks.

Another Israeli official was quoted saying that the chances of reaching a long-term ceasefire deal by the end of Monday, when the current truce expires, were very faint. Consequently, he said, according to the Walla news site, the government is considering a unilateral move to ease some restrictions on access to the Gazoo Strip and provide its residents with funds for rebuilding.
Idiot. "Loose lips sink ships", remember? Why should Hamas come to the bargaining table when fools promise them they can get at least part of what they want by doing nothing at all?

#1  Idiot. "Loose lips sink ships", remember? Why should Hamas come to the bargaining table when fools promise them they can get at least part of what they want by doing nothing at all?

Because there is nothing to bargain about---they want us extinct. And, eventually, we'll make them extinct.

#6  IMO Hamas is foolish in thinking they can bargain from a position of strength. Living in the past - they have lost many Arab sympathizers. (It's revolting to say this, but their strongest sympathizers seem to be Western Leftists and its media.

Qatar To Provide 'Emergency Assistance' To Gaza
[Ynet] Gulf nation, which sought to mediate between Israel, Paleostinians, will pay $1,000 to Strip residents whose homes were destroyed during Protective Edge.

Qatar will provide one thousand dollars as preliminary assistance to Paleostinians whose homes were destroyed during Operation Protective Edge, said Gazoo's Social Affairs undersecretary Omar al-Darbi on Saturday.
He would be Hamas, yes?
Qatar has long been considered as source of Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason,' funds and had offered to serve as mediator during the summer conflict — Israel rejected their proposal and demanded Egypt broker the negotiations.

A senior Paleostinian source in the ministry added that the committee governing the strip will supervise the aid and dispense the cash through the Social Affairs Ministry's offices across the Strip.
Is that also Hamas? Because Fatah/the PLO/PA has not formally,-- or informally -- taken control, and may never do so if Hamas doesn't sign off on Egypt's truce conditions.
The ministry is currently in the process of determining the names of all the owners of the destroyed homes in order to prevent any mishandling of the Qatari funds and assure the aid reaches the innocent victims of the IDF operation.

The source said the agreed-upon sum was defined as "emergency assistance" to families who lost their homes, in order to help them afford rent and purchase basic necessities during this difficult time.

According to UNRWA, the UN agency responsible for Paleostinian refugees, some half a million Gazooks were internally displaced during the operation. According to the IDF, 10,690 homes were destroyed, 141 schools were damaged, and five hospitals were shut down.
So that's either 500,000 x $1,000 or 10,690 x $1,000... either way, that's a nice check Qatar will shortly hand to Hamas, no questions asked.
In July, former president Shimon Peres slammed Qatar as "the world's largest funder of terror," stating that it should not provide money that is used for rockets and tunnels meant to kill civilians, and if it wants to help, it should build, "but should not be allowed to destroy."

In 2012, due to the deteriorating security situation in Damascus caused by the Syrian civil war, Hamas political chief Khaled Mashal relocated his headquarters "temporarily" to Qatar.
But that has nothing to do with this action, nothing whatsoever.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Christians in Lebanon Take Precautionary Measures, Fear Expansion of ISIL
[AnNahar] Following the latest incidents in the northeastern border town of Arsal, fears that they could be the next target for the terrorist ISIL organization compelled the Christians in Leb to take precautionary protective measures, the pan-Arab daily Asharq al-Awsat reported on Saturday.
Unless they are prepared to meet violence with considerably greater violence, all their precautions will just tell them when it's too late to do anything about it.
The latest developments in Iraq where hundreds of thousands of Christians and Yazidis have been displaced, aggravated fears that the the Christian community in Leb would face the same fate.

More than one million and 154,000 Syrian refugees currently live in Leb, and are a source of fear for Christians who are a minority compared to the number of Shiites and Sunnis.

The above compelled the municipalities in different Lebanese regions to take precautionary measures and monitor the movement of refugees, in a bid to stop any similar incidents to those that erupted in Arsal.

Arsal, whose residents have been broadly supportive of the rebellion against Syrian Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
Oppressor of the Syrians and the Lebs...
, is currently playing host to 47,000 Syrian refugees.

Many of them sought refuge there after Syrian government troops ousted rebels from the Qalamun region over the border.

From August 2 to 6, Arsal was the scene of fierce festivities between army troops and jihadists who came over from Syria.

The Lebanese Army, security forces and the municipal police upped security measures on Friday around houses of worship as the Christian community marked the Assumption of Virgin Mary Day.

Christian areas, like other Lebanese regions host hundreds of thousands of Syrian refugees most of whom live in popular residential areas that have been raided lately by security forces in search of wanted individuals.

According to head of the Dekwaneh municipality Antoine Shakhtura, where the majority are Christians, "around 10,000 Syrian refugees living in the area have filled paper forms in the framework of organizing the Syrian presence," a move initiated by the municipality and criticized later by media.

Furthermore, several christian villages on the north borders of the country tasked the youths with watching the entrances, major roads and even the valleys of the area which may constitute a point of attraction to terrorist.

Unlike all other christian leaders, Geagea appeased the Lebanese in an interview on Friday saying that the the ISIL is a "big lie" that will disappear as fast as it grew.

"The ISIL is not an existential danger in Leb or the Middle East. What changed the equation in Iraq is the fragmented political situation that led to the creation of the ISIL. While in Leb, there is a state that exists and an army that contained the Arsal incidents with its capabilities."
