Girls’ Schools for Grades 7-12 Reopen in Herat
[ToloNews] After nearly three months, girls’ schools have reopened for all female students in the western province of Herat
...a venerable old Persian-speaking city in western Afghanistan, populated mostly by Tadjiks, which is why it's not as blood-soaked as areas controlled by Pashtuns...
, according to an elected council of Herat teachers.

For the past several months only girls up to grade 6 were allowed; now girls and young women in grades 7-12 are allowed to attend school in Herat.

According to the council, the decision was made after a month of discussions between the council and officials of girls’ schools with the local officials of the Islamic Emirate in Herat.

The council said this decision allows over 300,000 more girls to continue with their education.

"Previously, girl students frome grades 1 to 6 were going to school. Now girls from grades 7 to 12 also go to school. Before this decision, 250,000 to 300.000 girls were deprived of education," said Mohammad Sabir, head of the council.

Meanwhile,
...back at the alley, Bugs Moroni was holding Slats from behind while his brother Greasy Thumb was pounding his face into paste ...
girls said they are happy about the resumption of their education.

"During the time that schools were closed and we could not attend our lessons, we were very disappointed. With the opening of schools, we have found new hope," said Maisara Wafa, a student of grade 11.

"We are happy that schools are reopened and we can continue with our education," said Sanaz Haidari, another student in Grade 11.

Although students and teachers are happy about the resumption of the schools' activities, the teachers said they have not received their salaries for more than four months and are struggling with severe economic problems.

"We expect that the girls’ schools should not be closed once again and no restrictions should be imposed on our teaching," said Suhaila Sharifi, a teacher.

"The salary is the only income the teachers have, and we have not been paid for a few months. If the teachers are paid, they can teach better," said Zarghona Rasuli, a teacher.

Based on numbers from Herat’s education department, over a million students go to school and over half are girls.

[KhaamaPress] Pak ambassador to Kabul Mansoor Ahmad Khan has said that the Taliban
...Arabic for students...

Cabinet commitee legalises 63 unlicensed churches
[AlAhram] A cabinet committee tasked with legalising the status of unlicensed churches in Egypt approved on Sunday the legalisation of 63 churches and Christian service buildings that had been operating without a permit, the cabinet announced in a statement.

According to the Egyptian cabinet’s statement on the decision, this brings the total number of churches and service buildings that have been granted legal status so far to 2,021 since 2017.

In 2016, Egypt’s parliament approved a long-awaited law regulating the building and renovation of churches.

The committee to legalise the status of unlicensed churches was established in 2017 by Sherif Ismail, the prime minister at the time.

Son of Libyan warlord reported to visit Israel, offer ties in return for backing
[IsraelTimes] Saddam Haftar said to carry message from his father requesting ’military and diplomatic’ assistance in return for a pledge to normalize relations with the Jewish state

The son of Libyan warlord Khalifa Haftar
...Self-proclaimed Field Marshal, served in the Libyan army under Muammar Qadaffy, and took part in the coup that brought Qadaffy to power in 1969. He became a prisoner of war in Chad in 1987. While held prisoner, he and his fellow officers formed a group hoping to overthrow Qadaffy, so it's kind of hard to describe him as a Qadaffy holdover. He was released around 1990 in a deal with the United States government and spent nearly two decades in the United States, gaining US citizenship. In 1993, while living in the United States, he was convicted in absentia of crimes against the Jamahiriya and sentenced to death. Haftar held a senior position in the anti-Qadaffy forces in the 2011 Libyan Civil War. In 2014 he was commander of the Libyan Army when the General National Congress (GNC) refused to give up power in accordance with its term of office. Haftar launched a campaign against the GNC and its Islamic fundamentalist allies. His campaign allowed elections to take place to replace the GNC, but then developed into a civil war. Guess you can't win them all. Actually, he is, but slowly...
reportedly visited Israel last week for a secret meeting with Israeli officials in which he offered to establish diplomatic relations between the two countries in return for Israeli support.

High-ranking members of the Sinaloa Cartel charged with international drug trafficking
[ICE] Two indictments were unsealed in federal court that charge high-ranking members of the Sinaloa Cartel with international drug trafficking following investigations lead by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI).

On Nov.13, 2019, and Feb. 19, 2020, a federal grand jury in Tucson returned superseding indictments against cartel members Aureliano Guzman-Loera of Sinaloa, Mexico, and brothers Ruperto, Jose, and Heriberto Salgueiro-Nevarez, of Guadalupe Y Calvo, Mexico.

The indictments allege various violations of United States law occurring over several years related to the international distribution of controlled substances, including fentanyl, heroin, cocaine, methamphetamine, and marijuana.

The Salgueiro-Nevarez brothers allegedly operate a faction of the Sinaloa Cartel known as the SNO, which stands for the Salgueiro-Nevarez Organization. Aureliano Guzman-Loera is the brother of former Sinaloa Cartel leader, Joaquin Guzman-Loera, “El Chapo”.

Volume of opioids flooding U.S. is 'worst it's ever been,' says outgoing DEA El Paso chief
[JustTheNews] Mexican cartels saw lax border security under Biden as a green light to inundate the country with fentanyl and other drugs.

Outgoing DEA El Paso Division Chief Kyle W. Williamson warned in his last interview before leaving office that the cartel-driven opioid crisis in the U.S. is the worst it's ever been since he started with the agency in 1991.

His message comes as Mexican cartels that operate at will along stretches of the U.S. southern border are flooding the country with deadly fentanyl and methamphetamine and after the DEA issued an urgent public safety warning, its first in six years, about the alarming increase in the availability of fake prescription pills containing lethal doses of fentanyl and methamphetamine.

Iraq, Kurdistan Region will help migrants who want to return: representative
[Rudaw] The Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) representative in Poland said on Monday that their office in Poland will help any migrant stuck on the Polish-Belarus border to return home if they want to, calling on the Polish authorities to treat migrants colonists according to international law.

"We are deeply saddened by the situation that has been created, and the conditions that our citizens are in. We have constantly asked the Polish side to act according to international and European law, especially for people who need help, and to provide access to hospitals for those who require treatment," Ziyad Rauf, KRG representative in Poland told Rudaw.

"We have always said - and the Iraqi embassy as well - that with the help of the federal government we will do everything to support those who want to return safely to the country," added Rauf. Regarding what will happen to those along the border on Monday evening, Rauf told Rudaw that "their fates are not yet known," but that Warsaw’s current stance is firm: to not allow migrants colonists to enter the country.

Polish government front man Piotr Muller told news hounds on Monday that around 3,000-4,000 migrants colonists were near the Polish border, Rooters reported.

Poland’s Deputy Foreign Minister Piotr Wawrzyk told Polish public radio on Monday that, "Belarus wants to cause a major incident, preferably with shots fired and casualties", and accused the Belarusian government of planning a "major provocation" by getting migrants colonists to cross the Polish border.

Commenting on the situation, Russia’s Foreign Affairs spokeswoman Maria Zakharova encouraged Poland to open its borders. "Warsaw took an active part in destroying Iraq. More than 2,000 Polish soldiers invaded the sovereign state to establish democracy. Why not accept at least as many grateful Iraqis today", Zakharova said in her Telegram channel on Monday.

Belarusian political analyst Valery Karbalevich told AP that the Moscow-backed Lukashenko regime seemed to be trying to use the migrants colonists "to scare" the European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
(EU) and gain leverage in order to encourage the EU to drop sanctions imposed last year. This latest migrant crisis comes only three days after a new military agreement between Belarus and Russia.

The EU has accused Minsk of pushing migrants colonists to their borders in protest of sanctions imposed in response to a crackdown on dissent. Brussels on Monday called for new sanctions against Belarus. The use "of migrants colonists for political purposes is unacceptable," European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said, adding that the EU would also look at how to sanction "third-country airlines" that bring migrants colonists to Belarus.

The United States has also called on Belarus to stop "orchestrating" migrant flows to Europe. "As long as the regime in Belarus refuses to respect its international obligations and commitments, undermines the peace and security of Europe, and continues to repress and abuse people seeking nothing more than to live in freedom, we will continue to pressure Lukashenko, and will not lesson our calls for accountability," the United States state department spokesperson Ned Price said during a daily press briefing on Monday.

Thousands of migrants colonists have attempted to gain entry to EU nations from Belarus this summer. Many Kurds and Iraqis are among them, hoping to reach Western Europe. So far this year, around 37,000 Iraqis left the country by unofficial means, according to data from the Summit Foundation for Refugee and Displaced Affairs (Lutka).

Belarus's tactical use of migrants 'unacceptable': NATO
[AlAhram] NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A collection of multinational and multilingual and multicultural armed forces, all of differing capabilities, working toward a common goal by pulling in different directions...
on Monday slammed as "unacceptable" Belarus's allegedly tactical use of migrants colonists to put pressure on the EU, saying it was worried about "escalation" on the border with Poland.

An alliance official termed the Belarusian regime's use of migrants colonists "a hybrid attack", meaning a combined military-political operation, and said: "NATO stands ready to further assist our allies, and maintain safety and security in the region".

France flexes muscle, puts warship in eastern Mediterranean
[AlAhram] La Belle France showcased its military muscle Monday with a tour of its new frigate Auvergne in the eastern Mediterranean, seeking to underscore what the ship's captain said was the importance that Gay Paree attaches to ensuring security and stability in the region.

Captain Paul Merveilleux de Vignaux said the Auvergne with its 150-strong crew would be deployed in the eastern Mediterranean until January to gather intelligence in order to ``show how the respect of international law and especially freedom of navigation matters'' to La Belle France.

``This deployment underlines how important La Belle France considers this part of the Mediterranean sea,'' as well as the country's ``willingness to contribute to the stabilization of this strategic area,'' De Vignaux told news hounds at the Cypriot port of Larnaca.

The Auvergne was commissioned three years ago. It has advanced sonar equipment and specializes in anti-submarine warfare.

De Vignaux said this is the 12th time that the Auvergne has visited Cyprus, which he called as key to supporting French naval operations in the region.

``There can't be efficient and sustainable naval operations without support and Cyprus is the centerpiece of it,'' De Vignaux said.

The French aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle has also made repeated trips to Cyprus.

Relations between Cyprus and La Belle France have been growing tighter in recent years. Cyprus also permits French aircraft to use its military air base in the southeastern corner of the island nation and allows French ships to use its southern naval port, which is now undergoing an upgrade.

La Belle France is also keen to make its presence felt to send signals to The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the occupiers of Greek Asia Minor...
not to interfere with offshore drilling by French energy company Total and its Italian partner Eni next year in waters off Cyprus' southern coast.

Turkey doesn't recognize Cyprus as a nation and contests waters where the Cypriot government claims exclusive economic rights. Ankara says a large chunk of those waters either overlap its continental shelf or belong to the breakaway Ottoman Turkish Cypriots.

Cyprus was split in 1974 when Turkey invaded after a coup by supporters of union with Greece. Only Turkey recognizes a 1983 Ottoman Turkish Cypriot declaration of independence in the island's northern third where it maintains more than 35,000 troops.

In February 2018, Ottoman Turkish warships prevented a drillship leased by Eni from conducting exploratory drilling in waters southeast of Cyprus.

Political analyst Anna Koukkides-Procopiou says the French naval presence is a clear signal to Turkey.

``(French President Emmanuel) Macron needs to project this power in the region because this is part of his whole policy of establishing or re-establishing La Belle France as a great power, which is not only dominant in the region of the Middle East, but (in) Africa,'' Koukkides-Procopiou told The News Agency that Dare Not be Named.

``Someone had to move in and fill that vacuum (in the eastern Mediterranean). Now La Belle France wants to make sure that it's not Turkey,'' she said.

#3  Loved the perjury party yesterday with the prosecution's "star" witness. He lied about his own behavior, contradicted his earlier statements, agreed with the defense attorneys' every point during cross-examination, and ended up justifying everything Kyle did. Grosskreutz turned out to be the best witness for the defense imaginable.

If Kyle is not acquitted after this ridiculous affair, then we're all screwed. It never should have even come to trial.

#6  Attorney Andrew Branca described Grosskreutz's testimony under cross-examination as a "veritable legal bloodbath."

Rittenhouse Trial Day 5: Alleged victim Gaige Grosskreutz implodes; admits had Glock, pointed at Kyle when shot and lied to police about it

By far the most destructive of Grosskreutz testimony to the State narrative of guilt was when he recounted before the jury that at the moment that he was shot in the bicep by Kyle—the moment that his bicep was “vaporized,” to use his own language—his Glock 27 .40-caliber pistol with a round in the chamber was pointed directly at Kyle from a distance of perhaps 3 feet.

All this while he insisted on direct examination that he would never be able to shoot another human being, because “that’s not the kind of person I am.”

#8  The NY Times, the DM and the rest of the media are just lying now. Contrary to the DM above, it's not the defense "contending" that Grosskreutz pointed his Glock at Kyle from point blank range; it's what this asshole DID, and SAID under oath that HE DID, and can be seen clearly on the cuffed doing.

The times' lying scribe doesn't even bother trying to carry water for Grosskreutz. Describing this complete debacle for the prosecution, she falls back on the ludicrously vague and ridiculous term "complicated" (as in the cringeworthy excuse, "It's complicated") to characterize Grosskreutz's lies.

It's a complete farce now.

US Supreme Court to hear Muslim surveillance case tossed due to ‘state secrets’
[IsraelTimes] Southern Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, men filed class-action lawsuit for violation of rights after community was targeted in FBI
...Formerly one of the world's premier criminal investigation organizations, something for a nation to be proud of. Now it's a political arm of the Deep State oligarchy that is willing to trump up charges, suppress evidence, or take out insurance policies come election time...
surveillance op; government says case too confidential for trial

The US Supreme Court
...the political football known as The Highest Court in the Land, home of penumbrae and emanations...
is preparing to hear a case about the government’s ability to get lawsuits thrown out of court by claiming they would reveal secrets that threaten national security.

The case before the high court Monday involves a group of Moslem men from Southern California. They filed a class-action lawsuit claiming that the FBI spied on them and hundreds of others in a surveillance operation following 9/11. The group, represented by lawyers from the American Civil Liberties Union and others, claimed religious discrimination and violations of other rights, saying they were spied on solely because of their faith.

A lower court dismissed almost all their claims after the government said allowing the case to go forward could reveal "state secrets" — whom the government was investigating and why. But an appeals court reversed that decision, saying the lower court first should have privately examined the evidence the government said was state secrets to see if the alleged surveillance was unlawful.

The Biden administration (aka the Wilmington comorra)
...the collection of boodlers, grifters, hangers-on, and self-proclaimed experts affiliated with the Biden Crime Family. Entrusted with an entire nation as the result of a suspicious election, they set about happily implementing stuff they absorbed in college, all of which blew up and splattered the rest of us...
, like the Trump administration before it, is telling the justices that decision is wrong.

The case involves a confidential informant, Craig Monteilh, the FBI used from 2006 to 2007. Monteilh pretended to be a new convert to Islam as a way to become part of Southern California’s Moslem community.

Monteilh told people he was a fitness consultant, but he was really working as part of a surveillance program known as Operation Flex. Monteilh regularly attended the Islamic Center of Irvine in Orange County and has said that he was told to collect as much information on as many people as possible. He gathered names and phone numbers and secretly recorded thousands of hours of conversations and hundreds of hours of video using a camera concealed in a shirt button.

Ultimately Monteilh’s handlers told him to ask about jihad and express a willingness to engage in violence. Those questions caused members of the community to report him to the FBI and other authorities and seek a restraining order against him.

The FBI has acknowledged Monteilh was an informant, and the story was covered in the news media including on the National Public Radio show "This American Life."

Three of the men Monteilh allegedly recorded sued seeking damages and asking the government to destroy or return the information it had gathered.

This is the second case the court has heard involving the state secrets privilege since beginning its new term in October. Last month the court heard a case involving a Guantanamo Bay detainee that also involved the state secrets privilege.

India-Pakistan
Pakistan announces 1-month ceasefire with Pakistani Taliban
[AlAhram] Pak authorities Monday announced a month-long cease-fire with a key bully boy group behind numerous attacks on security forces and civilians over the last 14 years.

Government front man Fawad Chaudhry said on Twitter that the Taliban
...Arabic for students...
government in Afghanistan helped facilitate the cease-fire between the government of Prime Minister Imran Khan
...aka The Great Khan, who ain't the brightest knife in the national drawer...
and the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistain.

In a statement, TTP spokesperson Mohammad Khurasani confirmed the cease-fire beginning Nov. 9 will remain in place until Dec. 9, during which both sides will form a committee to continue talks. He said both sides will adhere to the cease-fire.

The agreement was reached amid ongoing peace talks between the government and the TTP that began last month. Chaudry said the truce could be extended if talks continue to make progress.

Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistain is an umbrella group and is a separate organization from Afghanistan's Taliban, who seized power in August.

The TTP has been emboldened by the return to power of the Taliban in Afghanistan. Chaudhry provided no details about the ongoing talks, during which he said both sides agreed on the cease-fire.

Authorities had earlier said that peace talks were taking place with TTP leaders in Afghanistan, where they have been hiding for the past several years.

The TTP was formed by Pak hard boyz in 2007 and since then thousands of people have been killed in scores of attacks claimed by the group in the past 14 years.

Chaudhry said elders from the former tribal regions were being kept abreast of the talks with the bully boy group.

About a million people were displaced when Pakistain launched operations in the northwest in 2013 to clear out TTP fighters. They returned to their homes after 2017 when Pakistain claimed victory against the bully boys.

Bilawal Baby Bhutto Zardari
...Pak dynastic politician, son of Benazir Bhutto and grandon of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. As far as is known, Bilawal has no particular talents other than being pretty and being able to memorize political slogans, but he had the good luck to be born into the right family and he hasn't been assassinated yet...
, the leader of the opposition Pakistain People's Party, denounced the prime minister for not informing Parliament about the talks with TTP.

He noted the group was behind a 2014 attack on an army-run school in the northwestern city of Beautiful Downtown Peshawar
...capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, administrative and economic hub for the Federally Administered Tribal Areas of Pakistan. Peshawar is situated near the eastern end of the Khyber Pass, convenient to the Pak-Afghan border. Peshawar has evolved into one of Pakistain's most ethnically and linguistically diverse cities, which means lots of gunfire...
that killed 154 people, mostly schoolchildren. Zardari said the party believes such an important matter should have been debated in Parliament.

Some Paks criticized the government for holding talks with Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistain, which has stepped up attacks on security forces in recent years, primarily in the northwest.

Before the Taliban came into power in Afghanistan, Islamabad and Kabul often blamed each other for sheltering bully boys. Pakistain says it has completed 90% of a fence being constructed along the border with Afghanistan to prevent cross-border bully boy attacks.

Is Sikhs for Justice funding the farmer protest? NIA team in Canada to dig deeper
[OneIndia] A team of the National Investigation Agency will press for the execution of the Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty for faster sharing of information relating to anti-India activities by the pro Khalistan outfits.

A team of the NIA reached Canada on Friday to probe the funding routes for pro-Khalistan groups which have been instrumental in creating unrest in India. The NIA team also discussed with Canadian authorities the findings of the probe against terror groups such as the Babbar Khalsa International, Khalistan Zindabad Force, Sikhs for Justice and Khalistan Tiger Force.

Earlier this year the NIA widened the ambit of its probe in connection with the Sikhs for Justice (SJF). Sources tell OneIndia that there have been a lot of funds that have been channelised in the past couple of months. Over USD 1 lakh has been collected in the name of the farmer protests, the official cited above said.

The source further added that the agencies are looking into the source of funding. While there is no harm in collecting funds in the name of the protests, the NIA is looking to find if money is being collected in the name of the protests, but is being diverted to fund separatist activities of the SJF.

The probe was ordered after the SJF, a proscribed organization arranged protests in front of Indian missions abroad. After the financial trail was found the ambit of the probe was widened.

The probe was handed over the NIA after the foreign nations where the protests were organised did not take action. The NIA after a recent amendment has foreign jurisdiction and hence was handed over the probe. Investigations have found that funds have been coming in from Canada, US and UK. The official cited above said that this money is being collected by the SJF in the name of the protests. However not all is going towards the protests. A good part of it is being diverted towards subversive and propaganda activities of the SJF.

While the farmer unions have decried this action, an Ministry of Home Affairs official said that if funds are coming from abroad, then the agencies have every right to known the source of the same.

The NIA had on December 15 filed a fresh FIR. In it the agency said that the SJF was sending foreign funds through NGOs to pro-Khalistani elements for on ground campaign and propaganda against the Government of India.

An NIA officer said that so far they had summoned 40 persons as witnesses in connection with the SJF case. The NIA is also examining the role of the Khalsa Aid, which had recently provided foot massagers to the farmers who are sitting in protest against the three farm laws.

Iraq
Powerful Iranian General Visited Iraq after Attack on PM
[AnNahar] A top Iranian general visited Baghdad after the liquidation attempt against Iraq's prime minister, and said Tehran and its allies had nothing to do with the drone attack that lightly injured the Iraqi leader, two Iraqi politicians said Monday.

News of the visit came as an Iraqi army general said the investigation into the drone attack against Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi is ongoing but that indications point to Iran-backed factions. The general said Monday the drones used in the attack took off from areas east of the capital where Iran-backed militias have influence.

The drone attack was also similar to ones carried out in the past by Iran-backed factions in Iraq. In September, for example, explosives-laden drones targeted the Irbil international airport in the country's north, where U.S.-led coalition troops are stationed, the army general told The News Agency that Dare Not be Named. He commented on condition of anonymity because he wasn't authorized to speak to the media.

The two Shiite Moslem politicians requested anonymity because Esmail Ghaani's visit was not announced publicly. They quoted the Iranian general as saying that Tehran is not opposed to any politician named by the Shiite blocs in the newly elected parliament to become the next prime minister. Ghaani is the commander of Iran's Quds Force, which is mainly responsible for military and clandestine operations outside the country..

The failed liquidation attempt against al-Kadhimi at his residence has ratcheted up tensions following last month's parliamentary elections, in which the Iran-backed militias were the biggest losers.

Seven of Al-Kadhimi‘ security guards were maimed in the attack by at least two armed drones.

There was no claim of responsibility but suspicion immediately fell on Iran-backed militias. They had been blamed for previous attacks on the Green Zone, which also houses foreign embassies.

The militia leaders condemned the attack, but most sought to downplay it.

The two Iraqi politicians quoted Ghaani as saying: "Iran has nothing to do with this attack."

One of the two officials said Ghaani met with al-Kadhimi on Sunday afternoon in Baghdad.

Al-Manar TV, run by Hizbullah
...Party of God, a Leb militia inspired, founded, funded and directed by Iran. Hizbullah refers to itself as The Resistance and purports to defend Leb against Israel, with whom it has started and lost one disastrous war to date, though it did claim victory...
, said Ghaani also met with Iraqi President Barham Salih and other political figures in the country.

It quoted Ghaani as saying during his visit that "Iraq is in urgent need for calm." It added that Ghaani also said that any act that threatens Iraq's security should be avoided.

The drone attack was a dramatic escalation in the already tense situation following the Oct. 10 vote and the surprising results in which Iran-backed militias lost about two-thirds of their seats. Despite a low turnout, the results confirmed a rising wave of discontent against the militias that had been praised years before as heroes for fighting Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
Death Eaters.

But the militias have lost popularity since 2018, when they made big election gains. Many Iraqis hold them responsible for suppressing the 2019 youth-led anti-government protests, and for undermining state authority.

Some analysts have said that Sunday's attack aimed to cut off the path that could lead to a second al-Kadhimi term by those who lost in the recent elections. Al-Kadhimi, 54, was Iraq's former intelligence chief before becoming prime minister in May last year. He is considered by the militias to be close to the U.S., and has tried to balance between Iraq's alliances with both the U.S. and Iran.
The drone attack early Sunday that targeted Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi was launched by at least one Iran-backed militia, according to a report Monday.

Citing Iraqi security officials and sources close to the militias, the Reuters news agency reported that the drones and weapons used to target al-Kadhimi were produced in Iran.

IDF building facial recognition database of Palestinians in Hebron — report
[IsraelTimes] Washington Post details how Blue Wolf technology is used to screen Paleostinians in West Bank city, with soldiers incentivized to take photos of residents

The Israel Defense Forces is utilizing advanced facial recognition technology to screen Paleostinians in the West Bank city of Hebron, building a digital surveillance database of residents by having soldiers take cellphone photos of them, the Washington Post reported Monday.

According to the report, the surveillance initiative was rolled out over the past two years and is based in part on a smartphone technology called Blue Wolf that captures photos of Hebron residents’ faces and matches them to a mass database.
