Texas to deploy inflatable border along Rio Grande River in Eagle Pass
Next up: Border drownings
[FoxNews] Inflatable barriers are intended to 'proactively prevent illegal crossings between ports of entry'

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott announced that an inflatable border was being installed along the Texas-Mexico border Thursday, to make it more difficult for illegal immigrants to enter the country.

The floating barriers are expected to deter illegal crossing at hotspots along the Rio Grande River, and the first 1,000 feet will be placed near Eagle Pass.

Photos of the inflatable barriers show what appear to be a string of connected inflatable spheres, that when someone attempts to scale them, spin.

According to a press release from Abbott’s office, the strategy of placing an inflatable barrier along the border will "proactively prevent illegal crossings between ports of entry by making it more difficult to cross the Rio Grande and reach the Texas side of the southern border."

Along with the announcement of a new border crossing barrier, Abbott signed a package of six border security legislation bills intended to help the state "hold the line" as an increased number of illegal immigrants, weapons and deadly drugs pour into Texas from Mexico.

Abbott continues to blame President Biden’s refusal to secure the border as the main reason for the increase in flow at the border.

"Thanks to the leadership and hard work of [Texas Department of Public Safety] Director [Steve] McCraw, General Thomas Suelzer, and their teams, Texas has pushed back against the swell of migrants and held the line to keep people out of Texas — but there's more that needs to be done," Abbott said. "The Texas Legislature has stepped up to make sure we continue to robustly respond to President Biden's growing border crisis, including allocating $5.1 billion for border security.

"Today, I am signing six bills from this year's regular session to ensure that Texas can continue to do even more to stop illegal immigration at our southern border and provide new tools to the brave men and women along the southern border to protect Texans and Americans from the chaos and crisis of the border," he added.

Included in the package are bills that give the Texas military the authority to use unmanned aircraft in search and recovery missions, authorize U.S. Border Patrol Agents who complete Texas DPS training to arrest, search, and seizure at established border checkpoints, and provide compensation to landowners for property damage caused by illegal immigration activities.

Abbott’s legislation also designates Mexican drug cartels and criminal organizations as foreign terrorist organizations, increasing penalties for the destruction of illegal drugs and the operation of stash houses.

#1  I thought they were deploying bouncy houses. I believe the Feds will remove this. It is not consistent with Mayorkas’s policy of expediting the invasion.

Caucasus/Russia/Central Asia
The first pilgrims from Kabardino-Balkaria went on a Hajj
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[KavkazUzel] The first group of pilgrims from Kabardino-Balkaria went on a hajj to Saudi Arabia. In total, more than 400 residents of the republic are planning to perform the Hajj this year.

The " Caucasian Knot " has reported that in 2022, Saudi Arabia halved the Hajj quota for Russian Muslims, to 11,318 people.
Halved? Perhaps they don’t trust non-Arabs to behave properly, or perhaps the Saudi government is having problems with Moscow.
Hajj  (one of  the five main pillars of Islam ) is a pilgrimage to Mecca, sacred for Muslims. It is prescribed for every Muslim who has reached the age of majority and has the opportunity to do the Hajj at least once in his life. The pilgrimage to Mecca takes place at the beginning of the 12th month of the Muslim lunar calendar and ends with the Feast of Sacrifice  Eid al-Adha .

120 pilgrims from Kabardino-Balkaria went on a Hajj to Saudi Arabia today. This morning they gathered in Nalchik on the square of the 400th anniversary of unity with Russia. From here, at four in the morning, the pilgrims went by bus to Magas, and then by plane to Jeddah, the state broadcaster of Kabardino-Balkaria reported.

In total, more than 400 residents of Kabardino-Balkaria will perform the Hajj this year. They were divided into four groups. Transport for pilgrims and assistance in paperwork was provided by the Spiritual Administration of Muslims, according to a story published on the TV company's Telegram channel.

57 pilgrims will go on the Hajj from the Spiritual Administration of Muslims. The estimated date of departure is June 15 and 16, the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Kabardino-Balkaria reported on June 6 in its Telegram channel.

The first group of pilgrims from Dagestan went to Saudi Arabia

This year's first group of Dagestan pilgrims flew to Saudi Arabia.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the hajj quota for pilgrims from Dagestan this year amounted to 10,000 seats. According to the deputy mufti of the republic, Muhammad Manguev, it was already filled by May 15.

Hajj  (one of  the five main pillars of Islam) is a pilgrimage to Mecca, sacred for Muslims. It is prescribed for every Muslim who has reached the age of majority and has the opportunity to do the Hajj at least once in his life. The pilgrimage to Mecca takes place at the beginning of the 12th month of the Muslim lunar calendar and ends with the Feast of Sacrifice  Eid al-Adha.

Hajj operator MARVA-TOUR announced the departure of the first group of pilgrims in his telegram channel. The cameramen accompanied the message with a short video showing the groups gathering at the Dzhema Mosque in Makhachkala before heading to the airport.

Recall that, according to representatives of the hajj industry, the cost of a trip to the hajj has risen in price by an average of two thousand dollars. It is practically impossible to organize a pilgrimage on your own, since a lot of nuances should be taken into account, so it is better to turn to hajj operators, residents of the republic interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot" noted.

After the coronavirus pandemic, when the hajj quota for Russia was reduced to 10,000 seats, the Saudi authorities returned the old quota of 20,500 seats and added 4,500 seats, a representative of the hajj industry in Dagestan told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent on May 21. In 2022, Saudi Arabia halved the Hajj quota for Russian Muslims, to 11,318 people. Dagestan was allocated 4,550 seats in the Russian Hajj quota .
Oh. Not malice aforethought but reallocation across the region.
Despite the increase in the cost of the trip, by the end of May they were all filled with applications.

Europe
EU to negotiate all-new asylum processing plan
[NPASyria] The European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
members’ interior ministers have been meeting in Luxemburg to hash out a new, continent-wide asylum processing plan. The existing system reached its breaking point over the past decade.

Under an existing agreement, any asylum seeker’s port-of-entry country is tasked with processing their application. This has put an undue burden on southern European countries, such as Italia, Greece and Spain, which are closer to established migration routes.

In order to avoid a humanitarian crisis on Europe’s borders, Germany, Austria and Sweden voluntarily accepted over a million refugees — many escaping Syria’s civil war — in 2015. Other EU members, however, like the eastern European Visegrad group, have closed off their countries to non-European refugees.

A new system, currently being discussed, would make assistance to migrants colonists mandatory for all members, but could be financial rather than relying on migrant-sharing schemes, ABC News reports. Officials have circulated figures of around 20,000 euros ($21,400) per migrant.

To be passed, the plan would need a ’qualified majority’ — or the support of countries representing roughly two-thirds of the Union’s population.
What odds those countries that don’t want illegals will be happy to pay for someone else to take them in?
Germany’s Interior Minister Nancy Faeser, representing nearly a fifth of the European Union’s population, has called the proposal "very difficult for us," adding that, "I am fighting for us to have a Europa
...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
of open borders."

To proposed deal does not address the sources of conflict leading to mass migration, nor will it ease the EU’s strict outer border policy, which has led to the deaths of over 25,700 migrants colonists who drowned crossing the Mediterranean Sea since 2014. This policy has also led the EU to cut deals with unsavory governments, such as The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the decaying remnant of the Ottoman Empire...
and Libya, in order to outsource the policing of the continent’s borders.

On June 4, at least 16 migrants colonists, many from Syria’s Kobane, drowned off the coast of Algeria as they attempted to reach Europe.

Europe’s fortress mentality has not stopped migrants colonists, who flee war, violence and poverty, from making the arduous journey. Some 966,000 applications for political protection were lodged in EU countries last year, up more than 50% from 2021.

The largest group outside of Ukrainians are Syrians, who filed 132,000 applications in 2022.

Roughly one million Syrian asylum-seekers and refugees live in the EU. Germany alone hosts around 59% of them. Across Europe, Syrians have usually been provided with international protection status. However,
death is not the end. There remains the litigation over the estate...
procedures tend to be long, which is why many Syrians have taken dangerous routes to reach the continent. Around 94,000 Syrians made their way to Europe illicitly in 2022, the EU says — more than double the number in 2021.

UN investigators compiling evidence on chemical weapons use by IS in Iraq
[An Nahar] U.N. Sherlocks are compiling evidence on the development and use of chemical weapons
...have not been used since WWI except for in Iraq, by the late, unlamented Saddam Hussein and in Syria, but really, honest, not by the Syrian government. And in Germany in WWII, but that was against civilians. Lots of them, just one of many reasons Hitler's also late and unlamented...
by Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
bandidos Lions of Islam in Iraq after they seized about a third of the country in 2014, and are advancing work on the bad boy group's gender-based violence and crimes against children, Sunni and Shiite Moslems, Christians and Yazidis, the head of the investigative team said Wednesday.

Christian Ritscher told the U.N. Security Council that survivors of a March 2016 chemical attack against Taza Khurmatu, a mainly Shia Turkmen town south of Kirkuk in northeast Iraq, were still deeply impacted when he visited earlier this year.

He said he has prioritized the investigation of chemical weapons used by the Islamic State, also known as ISIS.

"ISIS weaponized several chemical agents and deployed these as chemical rockets and mortars, as well as improvised bombs, in the vicinity of Taza Khurmatu" which hit residential neighborhoods and agricultural fields, Ritscher said.

The attack against Taza Khurmatu was believed to be the first use of chemical weapons by ISIS, according to the U.N. Sherlocks. They have said more than 6,000 residents were treated for injuries and two children died within days of exposure while many survivors continue to suffer chronic and ongoing effects.

Ritscher said his team's investigation "has provided specialized insight and analysis on the munitions, remnants and materials that were recovered" in Taza Khurmatu.
But nothing found in Wuhan. Strange, very strange indeed.
"Significant volumes of battlefield evidence, including ISIS payroll records and correspondence, were discovered, allowing the team to identify persons of interest and establish links to potential senior ISIS members," he said.

Islamic State fighters seized Iraqi cities and declared a self-styled caliphate in a large swath of territory in Syria and Iraq in 2014. The group was formally declared defeated in Iraq in 2017 following a three-year bloody battle that left tens of thousands dead and cities in ruins. However,
Caliphornia hasn't yet slid into the ocean, no matter how hard it's tried...
its sleeper cells continue to stage attacks in different parts of Iraq.

The U.N. Investigative Team to Promote Accountability for Crimes committed by the Islamic State group, known as UNITAD, which Ritscher heads, was established by the Security Council in 2017 to collect evidence so perpetrators of crimes by the Islamic State can be held accountable at trials. It has worked closely with Iraqi judicial officials.
The Iraqi Department of Justice (modeled after that of the US) has yet to bring forth indictments or arrests.
A UNITAD report in May 2021 said the Islamic State group "tested biological and chemical agents and conducted experiments on prisoners ... causing death," and an initial investigation was launched.
The elderly or those with pre-existing conditions were found to be at the greatest risk.
Ritscher assured the Security Council that "there is no shortage of evidence on ISIS crimes in Iraq, as ISIS was a large-scale bureaucracy that documented and maintained a state-like administrative system."

He said his team has led efforts that have so far digitized 8 million pages of ISIS documents held by Iraqi authorities, including Kurdish officials, and as a next step UNITAD is establishing a central archive "that will be the unified repository of all digitized evidence against ISIS."
I recommend a CDC 'central archive.' Nothing escapes these people, nothing !
Ritscher said UNITAD is also prioritizing "persons of interest" living in other countries and is currently supporting criminal proceedings against alleged members and supporters of ISIS in 17 countries.

Iraq says over 3,000 ISIS fighters repatriated from Syria
[Rudaw] Iraq’s foreign minister on Thursday revealed that the country has repatriated over 3,000 fighters of the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. (ISIS) group from Syria and that most of them have been tried in the courts of law.

Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein arrived in Riyadh on Thursday to attend a ministerial meeting of the US-led global coalition against ISIS and conveyed Iraq’s willingness to continue fighting the terror group and improving security in "liberated areas" from the bully boys.

"The government has returned around 3,000 terrorist Iraqi fighters detained in Syria and tried most of them," Iraqi foreign ministry spokesperson Ahmed al-Sahaf cited Hussein as saying, adding that Baghdad "pays special attention" to the notorious al-Hol camp in northeast Syria "and gives priority" to finding a lasting solution for the facility.

Formerly inhabited by hardy Phoenecian traders, its official language is now Arabic, with the usual unpleasant side effects. The Leb civil war, between 1975 and 1990, lasted a little over 145 years and produced 120,000 fatalities. The average length of a ceasefire was measured in seconds. The Lebs maintain a precarious sectarian balance among Shiites, Sunnis, and about a dozeen flavors of Christians. It is the home of Hezbollah, which periodically starts a war with the Zionist Entity, gets Beirut pounded to rubble, and then declares victory and has a parade. The Lebs have the curious habit of periodically murdering their heads of state or prime ministers...

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Iran debates new penalties for veil violations
[An Nahar] An Iranian draft law that would set new penalties for women not wearing a headscarf in public has sparked heated debate within the Islamic republic's leadership as more women flout the country's strict dress code.

Since the aftermath of the Islamic revolution of 1979, women have been required to cover their hair and neck in public places, with offenders facing fines or prison terms of up to two months.

But a growing number are defying the law and appearing bareheaded in the streets.

The trend accelerated during the nationwide protests sparked by the September death in jug of Mahsa Amini, a 22-year-old Iranian Kurdish woman arrested for allegedly violating the law.

The protests rocked Iran, provoking a crackdown by authorities that claimed the lives of hundreds of people, including dozens of security personnel, and saw thousands more arrested.

Iran's conservatives, who dominate the country's parliament and leadership, have passionately defended the dress code and believe relaxing rules would begin a process leading to profound shifts in "social norms".

But with many Iranians demanding change, in May the judiciary and the government proposed a "Support for the Culture of Hijab and Chastity" bill, to "protect society" and "strengthen family life".

The text proposes increased fines for "any person removing their veil in public places or on the internet" but withdraws the threat of a prison sentence.

"This bill reduces the removal of the hijab from a felony to a misdemeanor, similar to a traffic violation but with heavier fines," sociologist Abbas Abdi told AFP.

After Amini's death and the subsequent protests, society "no longer accepts that we imprison a woman because she does not wear the veil", he said.

Since the protests, authorities have imposed a series of measures to enforce Iran's strict dress code, including the closure of businesses whose staff do not conform with the rules and installing cameras in public places to track down offenders.

In recent days, at least three officials have been sacked or arrested for failing to prevent unveiled women from entering historic sites.

Hezbollah MPs will attend June 14 session, vote for Franjieh
[An Nahar] Hezbollah's parliamentary bloc said Thursday that its MPs will attend the presidential election session on June 14 and will vote for Marada leader Suleiman Franjieh.

Parliament Speaker Nabih Knobby Berri
...Speaker of the Lebanese parliament, head of the Amal Shiite party aligned with Hezbollah, a not very subtle sock puppet of the Medes and Persians...
had also affirmed that his bloc will vote for Franjieh.

"Amal and it's allies will all vote for Franjieh," Berri said in an interview.

Local media reports had expected Franjieh's supporters to boycott the session, cast blank votes, or block the second round's quorum, after the opposition and the FPM agreed on the nomination of former Minister Jihad Azour, claiming that he can get more than 65 votes.

"The MPs might cast blank ballots during the first round and leave before the second round to strip the session of its quorum," a local media report said earlier this week.

Also this week, Ain el-Tineh sources told al-Jadeed that the Shiite Duo has the right to thwart quorum, "exactly as the opposition camp was publicly declaring that it would block quorum to prevent Franjieh from becoming president."

The Shiite Duo has long accused the opposition and the Free Patriotic Movement
Despite its name a Christian party allied with Hizbullah, neither free nor particularly patriotic...
of nominating Azour as a maneuver against Franjieh's nomination.

Sources told al-Binaa newspaper, in remarks published Thursday, that "these parties don't really want Azour. They are nominating him to thwart Franjieh's nomination before ending their agreement and finding other candidates."
