Edio White, 18 and Conner Tucker, 15, were driving to 15-year-old Anthony Mason's home in Memphis on Thanksgiving Day
When a staged firearms deal went south, Tucker admitted to shooting Mason in the head with White acting as the getaway driver
Despite White admitting to his role in the shooting, a judge using the county's new bail system released White without bond
Shelby County District Attorney Steve Mulloy, a Democrat, passed a new bail system in 2022 where people received hearings with counsel within 72 hours of arrest.
Mulloy said the changes were meant to reform a system that was 'harder on the poor, it's harder on minorities.'
'This is an attempt to fix that,' he told Local Memphis.
'Under the old system, a judicial commissioner would make an off the top of their head determination about bail, and it was often unaffordable, and then people would languish behind the bars.'
According to Fox 13, both White's attorney and the DA's office still recommended a $75,000 bond but Judge Bill Anderson recommended White be released on his own recognizance.
Shelby County District Attorney's Office said in a statement that 'the judge made the ROR (released on recognizance) decision.'
Senator Marsha Blackburn, a Republican, lashed out at the decision on X.
'After fatally shooting a 15-year-old in the head, the Memphis man responsible for his death has been released from custody,' she wrote. 'He wasn't even required to pay bond.'
Criminals belong behind bars. NOT out on the streets.
Anderson - who supervises the judicial commissioners who set bail - has staunchly defended the new system in the past.
'Everybody has the right to bail,' he told Action News 5 in August. 'You cannot lock people up and throw away the key, you just can't.'
'As much as the public may want to, we can't do that. We don't have the space. We don't have the people available to monitor that, and it's unconstitutional.'
[Breitbart] During an interview with Bloomberg TV on Monday, DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas responded to a question on how to handle people who are in the country illegally by stating that there are “12 million people who are here in the United States who have been contributing so fundamentally to our country’s well-being.”
Host Romaine Bostick said that the consequences for arriving at the border irregularly won’t be a deterrent for a lot of people and don’t “address the other sort of elephant in the room, which is dealing with the undocumented immigrants who are already here in the nation. And I know it’s been a political football, as we’re trying to figure out the best way to address that, but I’m going to ask you, what is the best way to address that, from your perspective?”
Mayorkas responded, “The answer is quite clear and quite straightforward, and we’ve been waiting for it for about 30 years. And that is to fix a system that everyone agrees is fundamentally broken. And we need congressional action, both for the lawful pathways, that really need to be more robust in statute, and for the 12 million people who are here in the United States who have been contributing so fundamentally to our country’s well-being. They’re our neighbors, our friends, our fellow congregants. They provide — are frontline workers. We need to do something, and I am hopeful and remain hopeful that Congress will do it. The president, on his first day in office, presented Congress with a proposal.”

The Judas doesn't explain why Obama having full control of the House and Senate, that could pass Obamacare, didn't pass legislation then and there as well. They know they couldn't pass it then. His whining is basically - ratify our illegal actions.
The man is clearly guilty of conspiracy to obstruct the enforcement of federal laws.

It keeps them hiding again as they do now.

we do have illegals who are dishwashers, landscape employees, hotel maintenance staff and who do good work and without them restaurant, landscaping and hotel costs would be higher
we also have a lot of hard core criminals who are illegal and who frequently prey on other immigrants

Biden's refusal to enforce the law and secure the border are grounds for impeachment. Only a corrupt Congress would fail to impeach him.

He smuggles several odd million folks into our country and demands that we write them retrospective invitations.

I can think of a way to bring that number to 11,999,999!
So blatant a lie must be confronted with immediate removal from office. This odious miscreant must be held responsible for his willful, criminal conduct subverting the entire purpose of DHS.

Maybe we could get the US Air Force to put up some AWACS planes over our major airports. Air traffic control basically the same problem as battlespace management, except that no one gets to shoot at anybody.
[Breitbart] On Monday’s broadcast of CNBC’s “Squawk Box,” co-host Becky Quick stated that while the U.S. has sanctions on Iran, the Biden administration has “acknowledged that they’re going to continue to allow” Iranian oil to be sold elsewhere because they don’t want oil prices to go up.
CNBC Contributor and Global Head of Commodity Strategy for RBC Capital Markets Helima Croft said, “Iranian exports have grown this year. They have grown significantly. So, is the Biden administration going to come under increasing pressure to tighten the Iran sanctions? Now, Amos Hochstein was out basically saying that we’re going to have tougher enforcement, but what are those Iran numbers going to actually look like? That’s a very important wild card, I think, for next year, in terms of market balances.”
Later, Quick stated, “Look, with the Iranian sanctions, though, let’s just be clear, the United States has said, okay, we have these sanctions, but it’s basically been acknowledged that they’re going to continue to allow that oil to be sold elsewhere, because they don’t want — the United States politicians don’t want oil prices going up either, because it really ticks off voters to be paying more at the pump, especially in an election year.”
Croft responded, “Well, Becky, that’s a great question, because you are seeing action from the United States Congress to tighten those sanctions up. You had broad bipartisan support for a bill that just passed the House of Representatives, that would not only mandate stricter enforcement, but also target foreign ports that are taking Iranian cargo. So, I do think you’re seeing new pressure from Congress to tighten up these sanctions…we don’t know the degree of support in the White House for this, Amos Hochstein has said they’re going to tighten them up. But the question is, are we going to see the full 700,000 off the market? How much do we see in terms of rigorous enforcement from this administration? Because you’re right, they don’t want higher oil prices, but, again, I don’t think they want to be accused of allowing Iran a free hand to support groups across the Middle East that have caused so much turmoil.”

Does anyone else suspect a Biden/DC Swamp Side Deal here?
[PJ] Donald Trump is politically battle-tested in ways that no other presidential candidate has ever been. In 2016, before he could ever get to the part where he deposed Hillary Clinton, he faced a concerted effort by the Republican establishment to deny him the nomination that he had rightfully earned via the primaries. That was still happening at the convention.
This time around, he's dealing with battles on multiple fronts. I'm losing count of how many things the Democrats have tried to frame him on, the most ridiculous being that he fomented insurrection.
Some Uniparty fans in the GOP Establishment would prefer that Trump go away so they don't have to worry about having their delicate Beltway sensibilities offended. They would rather "Harumph!" into their ascots at the Capitol Hill Club while Washington/Rome burns, that's why Charles Koch's Super PAC just endorsed Hillary Clinton cheerleader Nikki Haley.
The corrupt attacks on Trump by the #EnemyOfThePeople media have been well documented in my writing of the last seven years.
Despite the unceasing efforts to wear him down and destroy him, Trump keeps showing up to work. His haters aren't getting any of the results they want. In fact, Trump's poll numbers are on steroids now.

I think in the fraud trial there has yet to be a victim of fraud identified.
Also, if there is fraud, why is not some victim of the fraud suing? This is a civil trial, which usually is for the victim to sue the perpetrator. Why no victim here? (Maybe because there isn't one. Not, I suppose, that that matters to Leticia James.)

Rantburg was assembled from recycled algorithms in the United States of America. No
trees were destroyed in the production of this weblog. We did hurt some, though. Sorry.
