Putin met with the commander of the Libyan National Army
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] On September 28, Russian President Vladimir Putin held a meeting in the Kremlin with the commander of the Libyan National Army (LNA), Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar. This information was confirmed by the press secretary of the Russian leader Dmitry Peskov.

“Yes, we confirm this meeting. Indeed, it took place today in the Kremlin. The situation in Libya and the region as a whole was discussed,” Peskov told TASS.

As Regnum reported , Haftar visited Russia on September 26. It was reported that he held negotiations at the Russian Ministry of Defense; his visit took place at the invitation of Moscow.

Later, the LNA clarified that during a visit to Moscow, Haftar met with Putin, as well as with Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu , they discussed developments in Libya, as well as bilateral relations between the two countries, ways to strengthen and develop them. In addition, other “issues of mutual interest” were discussed during the meeting, the LNA noted.

Putin previously said that Russia is in favor of ensuring Libya's sovereignty. He noted that Russia intends to continue to assist in advancing the settlement on key tracks based on ensuring the unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Libyan state.

Earlier, the head of state noted the importance of returning national unity in Libya. Putin noted that Moscow understands how complex this process is and is ready to facilitate it.

#2  The LNA is the one in eastern Libya, not the UN-appointed one barely holding on to Tripoli. From Fred’s auto-translator:

Khalifa Haftar
...Self-proclaimed Field Marshal, served in the Libyan army under Muammar Qadaffy, and took part in the coup that brought Qadaffy to power in 1969. He became a prisoner of war in Chad in 1987. While held prisoner, he and his fellow officers formed a group hoping to overthrow Qadaffy, so it's kind of hard to describe him as a Qadaffy holdover. He was released around 1990 in a deal with the United States government and spent nearly two decades in the United States, gaining US citizenship. In 1993, while living in the United States, he was convicted in absentia of crimes against the Jamahiriya and sentenced to death. Haftar held a senior position in the anti-Qadaffy forces in the 2011 Libyan Civil War. In 2014 he was commander of the Libyan Army when the General National Congress (GNC) refused to give up power in accordance with its term of office. Haftar launched a campaign against the GNC and its Islamic fundamentalist allies. His campaign allowed elections to take place to replace the GNC, but then developed into a civil war. Guess you can't win them all. Actually, he is, but slowly...

US Military "Repositioning" Troops from $110m Drone Base in Niger
[StartsAndStripes] The Pentagon said Monday that it is “assessing” the implications of France’s upcoming military withdrawal from Niger for the U.S. military, which still has about 1,100 troops hunkered down at a drone site in the country.

Pentagon spokeswoman Sabrina Singh said the focus is on relocating personnel from a military site in the capital of Niamey known as Base 101 to an Air Force drone hub in the city of Agadez.

Earlier this month, the U.S. began repositioning equipment and personnel to Agadez as a precautionary move.

On Sunday, French President Emmanuel Macron announced that his country was ending its military presence in Niger in connection with a July coup that toppled the democratically elected president.

The situation has upended counterterrorism operations in western Africa, where the U.S. and France have worked in close partnership for several years.

Niger has served as the main operational hub for U.S. forces, with the $110 million drone base in Agadez serving as the cornerstone for intelligence gathering on an expanding mix of Islamic militants in the Sahel region.

But now, the future of the mission in Niger is uncertain. Singh said that since Niger’s military seized power, the U.S. has ceased all counterterrorism operations in the country as well as any joint training with their military.

The only surveillance flights taking place now are “for our own force protection, but nothing for counterterrorism,” Singh said.

U.S. Defense Secretary denounces African putschists
[AFRICANEWS] The United States will continue to support "civilian-led" armies in Africa, US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said in Luanda on Wednesday, blaming militaries on the continent for "subverting the will of the people" through coups d'état.

"When generals subvert the will of the people and put their own ambitions above the rule of law, the security situation deteriorates, and democracy dies," said Mr. Austin in a speech on U.S. security partnerships in Africa, delivered in the Angolan capital.

The Defense Secretary reiterated the US commitment to "support government policies that advance peace, security and democratic governance together", stressing that these "elements are inseparable".

"Africa needs armies that serve its citizens, not the other way around", he added.

Mr. Austin's visit to Angola, a first for an American Secretary of Defense, is the third and final stop on his African tour, following Djibouti and Kenya.

On Monday, in Nairobi, the Secretary of Defense indicated that the United States was evaluating various options concerning the future of its military presence in Niger, the day after La Belle France announced the withdrawal of its troops.

The United States has some 1,100 troops stationed in Niger, engaged against jihadist groups active in the region.

Niger is one of six African countries where the military has taken power by force in the last three years, along with Gabon, Burkina Faso
...The country in west Africa that they put where Upper Volta used to be. Its capital is Oogadooga, or something like that. Its president is currently Blaise Compaoré, who took office in 1987 and will leave office feet first, one way or the other...
, Mali, Sudan
...a Moslem country located in the Horn of Africa. It is noted for its affinity for rule by ex- or current generals, its holy men, and for the oppression of the native Afro population by its Arab conquerors. South Sudan, populated mostly by the natives, split off from Sudan proper, which left North and South Darfur to be oppressed by the guys with turbans...
and Guinea.

The military in power in Bamako have turned to Russia, going so far, according to multiple sources, as to enlist the services of the Russian paramilitary group Wagner.

"Africa deserves better than foreigners trying to tighten their grip on this continent," said Austin.

"And Africa deserves better than autocrats who sell cheap arms, support mercenary groups like the Wagner Group, or starve populations around the world of grain," he added, in an allusion to Vladimir Putin
...President-for-Life of Russia. He gets along well with other presidents for life. He is credited with bringing political stability and re-establishing something like the rule of law, which occasionally results in somebody dropping dead from poisoning by polonium or other interesting substance. Under Putin, a new group of business magnates controlling significant swathes of Russia's economy has emerged, all of whom have close personal ties to him. The old bunch, without close personal ties to Putin, are in jail or in exile or dead from poisoning by polonium or other interesting substances...
's Russia.

Oil-rich Angola has long enjoyed close ties with China and Russia.

But since 2017, current president Joao Lourenco has been forging closer ties with Washington, which will partly finance the renovation of a railway line linking the Congolese mining regions to the Angolan port of Lobito, on the Atlantic Ocean.

"Over the past few years, the relationship between the United States and Angola has made enormous progress", Mr. Austin praised.

Caribbean-Latin America
Brazil Alters Reception Policy for Afghans and Wants to Stop Being a Route to the USA
[FolhaDeSPaolo] The Brazilian government has announced a change in the humanitarian reception policy for Afghans on the grounds that Brazil has established itself as a gateway for immigrants colonists who, fleeing the Taliban
...Arabic for students...
, seek to emigrate to the United States along dangerous routes.

The ordinance published this Tuesday (26) establishes that, from October onwards, visas will only be granted to Afghans if the availability of places in shelters is proven — which would happen through cooperation agreements signed between civil society organizations and the state.

The change comes months after an outbreak of scabies among immigrants colonists from the country who lived at São Paulo International Airport, in Guarulhos. However,
nothing needs reforming like other people's bad habits...
the alteration has raised concerns among activists and experts.

This is because the measure resembles a criticized mechanism of American migration policy: the "sponsor", a requirement that, in order to apply for a visa, the migrant must prove in advance that they have an employer or place to stay in the destination country.
How unreasonable!
The national secretary of Justice, Augusto de Arruda Botelho, states that the change seeks to improve the reception of Afghans, who still do not have a solid base in Brazil.

Since the beginning of 2022, this group has begun to make up the flow of migrants colonists crossing the Darién Strait, the so-called "jungle of death" between Panama and Colombia.

India-Pakistan
Pakistan Govt approves deportation of over 1 million Afghan refugees
[KhaamaPress] Pakistain’s caretaker government is set to deport more than 1.1 million Afghan nationals residing illegally within the country, as reported by sources. This decision was officially approved during a meeting of the caretaker cabinet in Islamabad on Tuesday, September 26.

The Pakistain government has noted a significant influx of nearly one million Afghan refugees over the past two years, adding to the millions who have already sought refuge in the neighbouring country for an extended period.

Media reports indicate that the decision to expel illegal Afghan refugees has been made in the context of a broader crackdown on various illegal activities. This includes combating terrorism, currency smuggling, and sugar and fertiliser illegal trade.

According to sources, the federal cabinet, acting through the Interior Ministry, has approved a plan for the deportation of over 1.1 million Afghan refugees.

The caretaker cabinet’s recent decision is a response to the arrival of approximately 600,000 Afghan refugees in Pakistain following the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan. Among them, roughly 400,000 are residing in the country without legal status.

The Ministry of Interior in Pakistain has reportedly collaborated with various stakeholders, including the Taliban
...Arabic for students...
administration, to formulate their plan. In recent months, Pakistain’s police have intensified efforts to crack down on Afghan migrants colonists, resulting in hundreds of arrests and the repatriation of many of them to Afghanistan.

In recent incidents, Bloody Karachi
...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous...
police arrested 293 Afghan nationals for residing in the city without proper travel documents. These arrests occurred during raids from September 9 to 12, with 253 illegal Afghan immigrants colonists detained.

Police stations in Quaidabad, Shah Latif, Malir City, and Sukhan arrested 37 Afghan nationals. In addition, 68 immigrants colonists were detained in the Korangi district and 49 in the Kemari district. Furthermore, 91 Afghan citizens were apprehended in various areas, including Gulshan Iqbal, Shahrah Faisal, and Sohrab Goth.

The Taliban has not provided any official statements or comments in response to the report concerning Afghan refugees reportedly experiencing extortion at the hands of the Pak government.

US tells Israel settlements serious issue, raised at highest level
[JPost] The US has raised its concern "at the highest level" about Israel’s continued settlement activity, its UN envoy told the Security Council as she pledged her country’s commitment to a two-state solution and the normalization of Israeli ties in the region.

"Make no mistake: the expansion of settlements undermines the geographic viability of a two-state solution, exacerbates tensions, and further harms trust between the two parties," Linda Thomas-Greenfield said.

Gazans abort border riots as Israel reopens crossing in reported Egypt-brokered deal
[IsraelTimes] Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth",-affiliated group says no demonstration on security fence for first time in two weeks, but could resume Friday; Israel said to mull more permits for laborers if calm holds

The Hamas terror group ruling Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
reportedly informed Egypt that it will work to make sure that riots on the barrier will end on Thursday evening, part of a deal that saw Israel reopen a key crossing into the Strip on Thursday. Tensions on the Israel-Gaza border have spiked in the past two weeks as Paleostinian youths have held daily demonstrations on the border fence involving violent mostly peaceful rioting, explosives and incendiary balloons lofted into southern Israel, sparking a number of fires. Israel has responded with live fire and earlier this week shelled several Hamas posts in Gaza from the ground and air.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Fire erupts at battery factory run by Iranian Defense Ministry for 2nd time in days
[IsraelTimes) A fire broke out Thursday at a car battery factory owned by Iran’s Defense Ministry for the second time in less than a week, state media reported.

No one was injured in the blaze, which erupted in an area where plastic waste is stored, state TV said. Iranian news outlets circulated photos and video footage of a column of black smoke rising into the sky north of the capital, Tehran.

Iran’s regular military and its paramilitary Revolutionary Guard operate several factories across the country, many of which produce civilian goods.

Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both. They hate Jews Zionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
has seen a series of fires and other mishaps in its military facilities over the years, and often accuses its archenemy Israel of sabotage.

Last month, Iran claimed that it had foiled a major plan by Israel’s Mossad spy agency to sabotage its missile production and its defense industry as a whole.

Tehran frequently claims to foil Mossad operations in the country, but the veracity of such claims is unclear.

Iran has been under heavy Western sanctions for several years that prevent it from importing a range of machinery and replacement parts, forcing it to build its own or source them on the black market. That has likely made industrial mishaps more common.

Iranian minister: Illegal migrants to be extradited
[IFPnews] Iranian Interior Minister Ahmad Vahid told news hounds on Wednesday that dealing with the issue of migrants colonists and refugees is a priority for the authorities.

Vahidi, however, rejected the statistics published in Iranian media on the number of Afghan refugee population in the country, saying the number of refugees from Afghanistan is less than five million.

Iranians say the influx of refugees after the takeover of the Taliban
...mindless ferocity in a turban...
in neighboring Afghanistan is posing a security challenge for Iran.
They also complain that the refugees are straining the country’s shrinking resources amid crippling Western sanctions.

In recent months, Iranian newspapers have warned of the security repercussions of the growing number of Afghan nationals entering the country, as there are concerns about radicalization among Afghan refugees.

Vahidi also dismissed reports by the Israeli media that a tremor felt on Monday 35km from Iran’s western Ilam Province, bordering Iraq, was caused by a missile attack on an Iranian military base, saying it was caused by an earthquake.
