[NYPOST] The pro-legal weed Hochul administration is quietly trying to fire up support for a complete ban on the sale of tobacco products in New York, The Post has learned.
The state Health Department commissioned a new survey aimed at gauging support for an all-out prohibition — despite Gov. Hochul’s failure to secure support from state politicians to include a ban on menthol cigarettes and other flavored tobacco products in the yet-to-be-approved state budget.
"What is your opinion about a policy that would end the sale of all tobacco products in New York within 10 years?" were among the questions asked last week in the "New York Local Opinion Leaders Survey," examined by the Post.
Another asks: "What is your opinion about a policy that would ban the sale of all tobacco products to those born after a certain date? For example, those born after the year 2010 or later would never be sold tobacco."
The poll also solicited input on whether there’s backing for other tobacco-related measures, including capping the number of retailers who can sell "products in a community" and prohibiting its sales near schools.
The survey, conducted by nonprofit research organization RTI International, was distributed to "community leaders" statewide, including "county politicians and county directors of public health," according to an April 13 memo to prospective participants from Jennifer Lee, director of the Health Department’s Bureau of Tobacco Control.

Weed will be everywhere. No negatives offered. Just constant harangue on Tobacco. Next she will require people to only walk on their left foot.
I've said for years that public policy - allowing continued tobacco sales while demonizing and increasingly taxing it - is about as hypocritical as one can get. If it was truly as great a threat to public health as we are repeatedly told, then the only possible and reasonable action is to ban it.
Her Honor may be a fascistic, domineering, lunatic scold with delusions of Godhood...but she's at least following the only logical path to solve the issue.
Please pass the popcorn.

How much of 1914-1940 history will the present day Government repeat?
Leave a war,
Boon economy,
Pandemic, Pandemic ends,
Stock market crashing
Bank deposit runs, and closures,
Massive Inflation,
Large numbers of homeless, and unemployed,
Ban a commonly consumed item (alcohol),
Create a Black Market , and crime syndicates for the item,
Create Government socialist services.
Create a "Temporary" Federal Tax on items/income.
etc.. etc.. etc...

Can't get enough drugs off the street now. They already have problems with tobacco smuggling now with the high taxes. Just another racket to be run by the usual suspects.
[Washington Examiner] Thanks to his commitment to the Democratic Party’s climate cult, President Joe Biden is now pledging to pass money through the United Nations to the Chinese Communist Party.
On Thursday, Biden promised to send $1 billion in taxpayer money to the United Nations’ Green Climate Fund. The corrupt bureaucrats at the U.N., who are increasingly beholden to the CCP, consider China to be a developing country. Therefore, that $1 billion can be funneled to China.
This would be at least the second time in the past few months that Biden promised to help the U.N. funnel American taxpayer dollars to the Chinese Communist Party. Biden previously agreed that the U.S. should pay "climate reparations," even without the commitment that China, the world’s biggest greenhouse gas emitter, would contribute to the fund. Instead, because the U.N. classifies China as a developing country, China would be eligible for those "reparations" payments as well.
This is normal for the U.N., which lets China sit on the Human Rights Committee and turned over the World Health Organization to Chinese propaganda at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. But this is also normal for Biden and his administration, which has prioritized placating China so the administration can get its preferred climate change policies while pretending that climate change is going to destroy the world.
Take John Kerry, the former secretary of state serving as Biden’s climate czar, who thinks that China’s genocide of the Uyghurs should be ignored because China makes solar panels. Or take Biden himself, who has a long history of soft-pedaling the CCP ("a rising China is a positive development" and "they’re not bad folks") and a longer history of dubious financial ties to Chinese companies.
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Reid Hoffman, the billionaire LinkedIn co-founder who is also a major donor to the Democratic Party, [#meToo!]
is defending his role in financing a New York author’s lawsuit accusing former President Donald Trump ...Oh, noze! Not him!... of sexual assault — a landmark case that is set to go to trial next week.
Hoffman said Friday in a post on LinkedIn that his grant to a nonprofit backing E. Jean Carroll’s battery lawsuit against Trump fits with his drive to protect "American values" and "reinforce the importance of the rule of law, equality, and helping the disadvantaged."
"In general, I prefer to talk about these values and ideas over commenting on specific gifts that I’ve made," Hoffman said in the post. "But there is a theme to a number of them: protecting the rule of law from the threat posed by Donald Trump’s scorched-earth legal methods."
Carroll’s lawyer, Roberta Kaplan, revealed Hoffman’s financing to Trump’s legal team in a letter earlier this month, prompting the former president’s attorney to send a letter to the judge questioning Carroll’s credibility and motives for suing. Hoffman’s Democratic connections backed Trump’s long-standing claim that the lawsuit was politically motivated, Trump’s legal team argued. Roberta Kaplan had to resign from "Times Up" after she counseled Andrew Cuomo how to attack an aide who claimed sexual shenanigans against him. POS also represented a woman who claimed knowledge of Justice Kavaugh's sexual attack history. A real peach
Trump’s lawyer, Alina Habba, declined to comment on Hoffman’s post.
She won court permission to seek evidence from Carroll’s lawyer to determine whether the writer had answered truthfully during her deposition last year when she said she wasn’t aware of any outside financing for her lawsuit.
Hoffman said in his post Trump’s legal team has characterized his support of Carroll as "secret."
"I want to be clear that I’ve never taken any steps to hide the financial support that I have provided to this lawsuit after it started," he wrote.
Kaplan has said there is nothing unusual about getting outside financing for lawsuits, including in cases that are politically charged.
[NYPOST] The NYPD commissioner in charge of employee relations is having a difficult time — with her employee relations.
More than 10 cops working under Deputy Commissioner Lisa White — who’s in charge of officer morale in the 35,000 uniformed member force — have either transferred or asked to be transferred out of her office because of her off-the-wall shenanigans, including claiming there are ghosts in her office and that workers are bugging her phone, police sources told The Post.
The final straw for one of them, a detective assigned to drive her in a department-assigned Ford SUV, came when White, 61, ordered the cop to turn on the lights and sirens because she was late for work.
When the detective refused, White ordered her out, hopped into the driver’s seat and took over, barreling from her Crown Heights apartment to One Police Plaza in lower Manhattan like a bat out of hell, the sources said.
"She told the driver to pull over and she went behind the wheel and almost got in like f—king five accidents," a police source said. "It was so bad that the driver ... said, ’I can’t do this anymore. Now she’s putting my life at risk.’"
The detective-driver was one of "multiple" officers who have requested to transfer out of White’s unit — even some cops White brought to the unit with her — since Mayor Adams appointed her in May 2022, insiders said.
"There’s been a large turnover in that office and more people are requesting to go," the source said.
Bizarrely, the deputy commissioner has accused employees of "planting bugs in her office, bugs in her phone" and "all sorts of crazy stuff," the source said.
She once accused them of releasing "confidential information" when someone gave out her schedule.
She’s also told employees "there’s ghosts in her office," a second police source said.
Some of her higher ups want White out because of her antics, but she has close personal ties to Adams, the sources said.
Her appointment to such a high-level position in the NYPD — where she makes $241,000 — raised eyebrows.
White worked as an "interim supervisor’’ with the police department’s 911 system. She retired with a base salary of $53,000 in December 2019.
Part of White’s job is to help coppers and their families, including the families of cops who bit the dust on the job.
"She has no background in it," the second source said.
Now, her higher-ups are considering handing off some of her duties to First Deputy Commissioner Edward Caban, Police Commissioner Keechant Sewell’s right-hand man, the second source said.
"Putting a square peg in a round hole isn’t working," the source said. "We need people who are familiar with the New York City Police Department and understand the needs of our line of duty families who are very dear to our heart."
A third source bemoaned her lack of knowledge about the NYPD and how everything had to be explained to her when she started the job.
"This person has zero qualifications and knew nothing about the position," the source said. "It was like talking to a child. . . . I don’t blame her. Who wouldn’t take this job if they had a friend that was going to just give it to them?"
The source said the unit is changing organizationally to "proactively help officers" who are experiencing stress "before it becomes more serious."
"How does the mayor put a person in there that is supposed to deal with mental health and organizational change when she doesn’t even know the organization to begin with?"

BINGO! From the Post artice
"She rented a room for four years to Mayor Adams in her apartment."

[NYPOST] For journalist Matt Taibbi, the brief accidental addition of an "A" may not only have changed the identity of a group, but, according to a ranking Democrat, put the convict into the meaning of conviction.
Delegate Stacey Plaskett (D-VI), the ranking member of the House Judiciary Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government, issued a letter that accused Taibbi of possible perjury because of an error that he made, not in testimony but in a tweet he later corrected.
At issue is Taibbi referring to CISA, the government’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, when he meant to refer to CIS, the Center for Internet Security.
Plaskett’s threatening letter to Taibbi was immediately pushed on MSNBC by host Mehdi Hasan, who was shocked by the added "A" and called for the journalist to be criminally investigated for having "deliberately & under oath misrepresented" the facts.
(It was an ironic moment, as writer Lee Fang noted, given past allegations made against Hasan over false statements.)
For Taibbi, this is only the latest such unnerving moment.
When he was testifying before Congress on government censorship efforts, the IRS ...the Internal Revenue Service; that office of the United States government that collects taxes and persecutes the regime's political enemies... sent an agent to his home to look into irregularities on his taxes from years earlier.

[NYPOST] Tennessee’s GOP-controlled state legislature passed a proposal to protect the gun industry just weeks after a deadly school shooting in Nashville left six dead, including three children.
The bill — which passed over the strenuous objection of Democratic politicians this week — shields gun and ammunition dealers and manufacturers from lawsuits.
It is now on its way to the desk of. Gov. Bill Lee, who is expected to sign it, despite calling for a special legislative session on gun reform Friday, just two hours after the state legislature wrapped up its work for the year.
"This is just to try to help businesses in this state that have chosen to come here, to give them a little civil liability," said the bill’s sponsor, State Sen. Joey Hensley, CBS reported.
The bill is a dramatic reversal for Democrats who hoped to capitalize on the recent shooting by a crazed killer to push new gun control measures in the state.
"I am challenging you not to pass this bill because we need to do more to protect citizens from gun violence than the people making the guns that people can use to kill more people," said Democratic State Sen. London Lamar.
Earlier this month the legislature expelled two Democratic politicians — Rep. Justin Jones and Rep. Justin Pearson — as punishment for their participation in an anti-gun floor protest which disrupted proceedings in the state capital. The punitive move came in for significant criticism and both politicians were swiftly resinated by their constituents.

The firearm is not the issue.
We must start seriously addressing the real problem, which is persons with physical / violent Mental Illness issues and the frequent flyer criminals of the Justice system.
