Britain
Ukraine: Russia Issues ‘Warning' that ‘Britain Is Too Deep In This Conflict'
[Breitbart] Russia’s ambassador to the United Kingdom has warned that Britain is “too deep” in the Ukraine war, bringing the NATO member “up to the line” of “no return” in terms of a possible conflict with Moscow.

In an interview with Sky News, the Russian ambassador to the Court of St. James’s, as ambassadors to the British royal court are formally known, claimed that evidence that the British military assisted a Ukrainian drone attack on his country’s Black Sea Fleet and was involved in blowing up the Nord Stream gas pipelines to Germany would become public “pretty soon”, and had already been passed to the British government.

“It is dangerous because it escalates the situation,” Ambassador Andrey Kelin said of Britain’s involvement in the Russo-Ukrainian war, which has arguably been going on since Russia’s intervention in the Euromaidan coup of 2014 but has certainly had the character of a full-blown war since February 2022, when Russian forces invaded Ukraine from the north, east, and south.

“It can bring us up to the line of I would say no return, return is always possible. But anyway, we should avoid escalation,” Yelin added, somewhat cryptically.

“And this is a warning actually that Britain is too deep in this conflict. It means the situation is becoming more and more dangerous.”

The United Kingdom under Boris Johnson, his short-lived successor Liz Truss, and the recently-installed Rishi Sunak has taken on one of the most belligerent stances of any NATO member towards Russia, at the same end of the spectrum as the likes of Poland, which has shipped tanks to Ukraine, rather than the likes of Turkey, which has left its relationship with Russia more or less unchanged and even sought to take advantage of its allies’ sanctions war with Russia to strengthen its energy partnership with the Kremlin.

British support for Ukraine has included providing funds and military materiel to the Eastern European country and training Ukrainian soldiers, including on British soil.

Nevertheless, a spokesman for the British government insists that Russian allegations of British involvement in the Nord Stream explosions and the Black Sea Fleet drone attack are untrue and “clearly designed to distract attention from Russia’s illegal invasion of Ukraine; Russia’s losses on the battlefield and its bombing of civilian populations and energy infrastructure without any regard for international law and the loss of innocent life.”

“We do not plan to give a running commentary on these allegations; it is no secret that the United Kingdom has taken a public lead in our support to Ukraine — this has been enduring since Russia’s illegal annexation of Crimea in 2014,” the spokesman added.

Perhaps the most dangerous direct encounter between the Russian and British militaries over the course of the war came last month, when a Russian warplane released a missile in the vicinity of a Royal Air Force (RAF) Rivet Joint surveillance aircraft flying over the Black Sea — a supposed “malfunction” widely interpreted as a warning for the British to keep their distance from the conflict zone.

Caucasus/Russia/Central Asia
Offensive in the Chernihiv direction
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Commentary by Russian military blogger Schneider-Krieg

[ColonelCassad] In one or two previous posts, it was mentioned that today the Chernihiv direction is protecting about 7,000 military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. What creates a well-known temptation to repeat the offensive here at the end of February 2022 (when the special military operation - NVO) began.

Meanwhile, it is worth noting that in practice this may again not be such an easy walk as when entering the sample start of the campaign. Then this was sitting in the Chernihiv direction:

Chernigov (commander - Major General Nikolyuk) - headquarters of OK "Sever", 1st Tank Brigade, 12th Separate Tank Battalion, 169th training center (300th Training Tank Regiment, 354th Mechanized Training Regiment , 6th Artillery Training Regiment, etc.), 3rd Battalion, 27th National Guard Brigade, 8th Aviation Post, 22nd Rifle Battalion, and 119th Territorial Defense Brigade;

TOTAL: in fact, a tank division, eight tank battalions (250 tanks in the state), 10-12 artillery battalions (within 200 guns and MLRS), 10,000 people in the state. In fact. taking into account the shortage, apparently, about 7,000-8,000 people
The artillery numbers seem off. Typically, a Russian artillery regiment as part of a tank division will have three tube/self propelled artillery battalions (six gun batteries) or a total of 54 guns, and another 12 rocket artillery launchers, for a grand total of 66 firing units.
https://schneider-krieg.livejournal.com/51720.html

I note that the state is even more than stated. And, taking into account the State Border Guard Service, even more: at least 15,000 people. However, the same 1st Tank Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine out of 3,500 in the state had only 2,000 people in service, for example. And with the rest of the Ukrainian units and formations, things were no better. So, on a circle - no more than 10,000 people. True, many of the best things that were in the Ukrainian army - the best tanks, the best command staff - were here.

Russia has concentrated a rather weighty fist here to attack Kyiv, mainly from the troops of the Central Military District (Central Military District), the reinforced ZVO, the Airborne Forces and the Aerospace Forces.

In total, only the army, at least 30 notorious BTGs - moreover, BTGs, better equipped than those of the "neighbors" from the Western Military District operating near Kharkov - parts of brigade, divisional, army and district subordination. In total, there are about 30,000 military personnel from the RF Ministry of Defense alone, reinforced by 15,000-20,000 Russian guardsmen.

In practice, a combined-arms army of 45,000-50,000 fighters with 300-350 tanks, 250-300 artillery pieces and a certain number of helicopters. By the way, in terms of the number of personnel, this is approximately twice as much as was then advancing on Kyiv along the right bank of the Dnieper through Chernobyl, from Belarus. And somewhat more than the "neighbors" - "Western", who attacked, moreover, from the Belgorod region in divergent directions.

This detachment of forces reached Chernigov on the very first day of the operation (or rather, in the first half day). However, having bumped into advanced units, he did not storm, but passed by, rushing to Kyiv. The local Ukrainian command took advantage of this - and began to ambush the lagging behind and pulling up columns. As a result, we had to return with the main forces and for two weeks fiddle with the encirclement and encirclement of Chernigov. In fact, the city from March 10 was completely surrounded and besieged until April 6.

The fighting was sluggish, the losses were small. Finally, on April 6, the siege was lifted. Russian troops lost at least 130 people killed, 400 wounded, 200-250 prisoners and at least 30 tanks. Ukrainian losses turned out to be noticeably more significant: about 300-350, in just KIAs.

The irony of fate is that today here, in the Chernihiv direction, Russia is confronted by almost the same forces as on February 24, 2022. The 1st Tank Brigade, it seems, had been withdrawn here in advance, where it replenished and rested. It is supported by the same 169th training center, as well as other units.

That is, in total, up to 10,000 people can lock themselves in the city, with the backbone of the most combat-ready troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Who are not willing to give up.

At the same time, only for the complete blockade of Chernihiv, without external actions, 20,000-30,000 people may be required, as at the beginning of the campaign. For a full-fledged assault, for a period of at least a month, you need at least 40,000-50,000 people - a minimum four to five times superiority. Not counting the forces that will have to be left to protect messages, cover the border, and also to create an external contour of the environment (in case of attempts to deblockade).

That is, in total, 80,000-100,000 people are needed for the Chernihiv military operation today. Twice as many as it entered at the beginning of the NWO. The 80,000-100,000 people that Russia has here today do not seem to exist.

These are thoughts out loud.

From Russia with cash: Georgia booms as Russians flee Putin's war
[JPost] Georgia is on course to become one of the world's fastest-growing economies this year following a dramatic influx of more than 100,000 Russians since Moscow's invasion of Ukraine and Vladimir Putin's mobilization drive to drum up war recruits.

As much of the globe teeters towards recession, this country of 3.7 million people bordering the Black Sea is expected to record a vigorous 10% growth in economic output for 2022 amid a consumption-led boom, according to international institutions.

That would see the modest $19 billion economy, well known in the region for its mountains, forests and wine valleys, outpace supercharged emerging markets such as Vietnam and oil exporters such as Kuwait buoyed by high crude prices.

"On the economic side, Georgia is doing very well," Vakhtang Butskhrikidze, CEO of the country's largest bank TBC, told Reuters in an interview at its Tbilisi headquarters.

"There's some kind of boom," he added. "All industries are doing very well from micros up to corporates. I can't think of any industry which this year has problems."

At least 112,000 Russians have emigrated to Georgia this year, border-crossing statistics show. A first large wave of 43,000 arrived after Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24 and Putin moved to quash opposition to the war at home, according to the Georgia government, with a second wave coming after Putin announced the nationwide mobilization drive in late September.

Georgia's economic boom - whether short-lived or not - has confounded many experts who saw dire consequences from the war for the ex-Soviet republic, whose economic fortunes are closely tied to its larger neighbor through exports and tourists.

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), for example, predicted in March the Ukraine conflict would deal a major blow to the Georgian economy. Likewise the World Bank forecast in April that the country's growth for 2022 would drop to 2.5% from an initial 5.5%.

"Despite all expectations that we had ... that this war on Ukraine will have significant negative implications on the Georgian economy, so far we don't see the materialization of these risks," said Dimitar Bogov, the EBRD's lead economist for Eastern Europe and the Caucasus.

"On the contrary, we see the Georgian economy growing quite well this year, double digits."

Yet the stellar growth is not benefiting everyone, with the arrival of tens of thousands of Russians, many tech professionals with plenty of cash, driving up prices and squeezing some Georgians out of parts of the economy such as the housing rental market and education.

Business leaders also worry that the country could face a hard landing should the war end and Russians return home.

TO GEORGIA WITH $1 BILLION
Georgia itself fought a short war with Russia in 2008 over South Ossetia and Abkhazia, territories controlled by Russian-backed separatists.

Now, though, Georgia's economy is reaping the benefits of its proximity to the superpower - the two share a land border crossing - and a liberal immigration policy that lets Russians and people from many other countries live, work and set up businesses in the country without needing a visa.

Furthermore, those fleeing Russia's war are accompanied by a wave of money.

Russia is seeking the supply of new sniper rifles - report
[Jpost] The Russian Federation Defense Ministry signed contracts for the supply of new Chukavin sniper rifles to its armed forces, Alan Lushnikov, president of Kalashnikov Concern, told RIA news on Friday.

"The Ministry of Defense is already purchasing semi-automatic Dragunov sniper rifles. We have signed a contract for this year, next year and the following years," he said.

According to Reuters, the AK-12 will have its two-round burst cut-off disabled and will have a two-way control of firing modes, as well as an adjustable cheek rest.

Lushnikov didn't say when the modernized weapon will be used in service, saying that it is still in the design documentation stage.

WHAT IS THE AK-12 ASSAULT RIFLE?
The AK-12 assault rifle that was developed by Kalashnikov has a caliber of 5.45 millimeters and an improved accuracy over its earlier versions, among other features.

The assault rifle will replace the System of Dragunov's (SVD) rifle, the main sniper rifle of the Russian army, according to Russian reports.

RIA reported that the final testing of the newer modernized version of the AK-12 was completed last fall.

Ukraine: Kyiv to evacuate 3 million residents in case of total blackout
[Jpost] In the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv, local authorities are preparing for the possibility of a total power blackout, and the evacuation of three million residents.

Ukraine's national grid has been severely damaged by Russian airstrikes in recent weeks, with estimates suggesting that over 40% of Ukraine's energy infrastructure is damaged or destroyed.

An energy company in the Russian-held Ukrainian city of Kherson on Sunday said there is no electricity in the city, Russian state-owned news agency RIA reported.

RIA quoted the Khersonoblenergo press service as saying that the reasons for the outage, which occurred amid warnings that a battle for the strategic city could be about to begin, were being clarified.

In a statement to Ukrainian media on Saturday, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said that while the city is doing everything it can to continue operating as normal, they are preparing to deal with the very real possibility that a total blackout will soon engulf the country's capital.

According to Klitschko, as of Friday morning, 450,000 homes in the country's capital are without electricity, one and a half times the amount that were without electricity just a few days prior.

"We are doing everything we can to prevent [a possible blackout], but let's be honest, our enemies are doing everything to leave the city without heat, without electricity, without water supply," he said.

He stressed that Kyiv city authorities are considering various scenarios in case of a blackout, including stockpiling diesel fuel, power generators, food and drinking water.

According to a New York Times report on the subject, the city is in the process of setting up 1,000 heating shelters that can double as bunkers while engineers do their best to fix bombed-out power stations despite lacking the necessary equipment.

While Klitschko did not explicitly mention the possibility of evacuating and relocating the city's residents, the director of security for the Kyiv municipal government Roman Tkachuk told the New York Times that this was indeed a possibility.

"We understand that if Russia continues such attacks, we may lose our entire electricity system," said Tkachuk, adding that the city's officials have been told that they will be given at least 12 hours notice if the electric grid is on the verge of total failure.

"If it reaches that point," Tkachuk said, "we will start informing people and requesting them to leave."

He stressed that the current situation is manageable and that there are no indications that a large number of civilians are fleeing Kyiv. However, he continued, the situation would rapidly change if services relying on electricity were to suddenly stop.

"If there’s no power, there will be no water and no sewage," he said. "That’s why currently the government and city administration are taking all possible measures to protect our power supply system."

ROLLING BLACKOUTS AIM TO PREVENT WORST-CASE SCENARIO
In an attempt to limit energy consumption, Ukraine's national grid operator said on Saturday that it would be stepping up rolling blackouts in Kyiv, as well as in seven other Ukrainian regions, Reuters reported.

The blackouts aim not just to prevent the overload of the system and total loss of power, but also to allow time for infrastructure to be repaired faster than it is damaged.

The energy grid operator has not specified how long the blackouts would last but called on Ukrainians to conserve energy, particularly during the morning and evening hours.

Echoing the call of the power grid, Klitschko appealed specifically to the people of Kyiv on Friday, asking them to "save electricity as much as possible, because the situation remains difficult."

As a result of the rolling blackouts and the emergency energy stabilization schedules, some 4.5 million households across Ukraine were without energy on Thursday, with President Volodymyr Zelensky accusing Russia of "energy terrorism" as a result.

“The very fact that Russia has resorted to terror against the energy sector indicates the weakness of the enemy," he said in his nightly address. "They cannot defeat Ukraine on the battlefield and therefore they are trying to break our people in this way."

Ukrainian officials, as well as Western officials, have warned that Russia's new tactic of targeting energy infrastructure is not a coincidence, and is specifically timed to coincide with the onset of the harsh winter months.

"Russian attacks on infrastructure were planned weeks in advance," warned Ukrainian military intelligence head Kyrylo Budanov early last week. "The Kremlin uses winter as a weapon, trying to demoralize people who remain strong despite all the brutality inflicted on them by the occupiers."

U.S. privately asking Ukraine to drop public refusal of peace with Russia
[WAPO via The Hill] The United States privately asked Ukraine to drop its public refusal of peace talks with Russia and signal a willingness to engage in negotiations, as the war in Ukraine drags into its ninth month, The Washington Post reported.

The move is reportedly a strategic effort by the U.S. to ensure ongoing support for Kyiv, according to the Post.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky initially expressed a willingness to negotiate early in the war. However, after Russian President Vladimir Putin formally annexed four regions of Ukraine in late September, Zelensky issued a declaration stating that it would be impossible to hold peace talks with Putin.

Zelensky’s refusal to engage with Putin has drawn concern from other countries. South Africa joined about three dozen other countries in abstaining from a UN vote in October condemning Russia’s annexation of Ukrainian territories, instead urging for a focus on facilitating a cease fire, according to the Post.

In the U.S., congressional support for the war in Ukraine has also begun to falter, among both Republicans and Democrats. House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) suggested last month that Republicans will reign in Ukraine spending if they retake the House in Tuesday’s midterm elections.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) took a more extreme approach earlier this week, promising that "not another penny will go to Ukraine" under Republican leadership in Congress.

House progressives also sent a letter to President Biden last month, which they have since withdrawn, urging him to push harder for a diplomatic resolution to the the war in Ukraine.

And then the collapse.

Battalion of Russian draftees reportedly wiped out near Ukraine's Makiivka, survivor says hundreds killed
[NovayaGazetta.eu] A battalion of Russian draftees from the Voronezh region has been wiped out on the line of contact near Ukraine’s Makiivka, Verstka news outlet reports, citing one of the survivors, Alexey Agafonov.

The man says that his battalion arrived on the front line in the early hours of 2 November.

"They sent us there and told us to dig trenches. We had only three shovels for the entire battalion, we had no equipment at all. We dug what we could, and by the morning, they’d started firing at us: from artillery, Grads [rocket launchers], mortars, drones, they shot to kill. When it started, the officers immediately ran away. Between the attacks, we tried to dig trenches, but we were detected by drones right away and shot at. Out of 570 people, 29 survived, 12 are injured, the rest are gone," Agafonov said.

The wife of another draftee confirmed that according to her husband, hundreds of soldiers were killed in the shelling. "Over half of them are dead, for sure," she said.

According to Agafonov, draftees from all around Russia are brought to the area to cover up defence breaches, while contract servicemen and volunteers are staying behind.

Agafonov and the surviving soldiers retreated to Svatove, where they found draftees from other crushed battalions.

Russians can prepare a trap for the Armed Forces in the Kherson region, - OK 'South'
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Censor] Russian troops are trying to create the illusion that they are supposedly "withdrawing" from the Kherson region. In fact, the occupiers can thus prepare a trap for Ukrainian forces.

This was reported by the head of the Joint Coordination Press Center of the Defense Forces of Southern Ukraine, Nataliya Humenyuk, on the air of the telethon, informs Censor.NET with reference to RBC-Ukraine.

To the journalist's question, whether the Russians can prepare traps for the Armed Forces during the Ukrainian counteroffensive and which ones, she replied that "such a situation is not excluded."

"Because the Russians are trying to convince that they are "leaving". Despite the fact that we see objective data - they are staying. There are defense units that have dug in quite powerfully, a certain amount of equipment has been left behind, firing positions have been set up. And , in particular, those positions that are set up on the left bank, they will be used for fire support on the right," Gumenyuk explained.

She emphasized that the occupiers are trying to create an effect as if they are "not there" in order to lure our Defense Forces into certain settlements.

"A settlement is always complicated street battles . We know and foresee the development of events that the Russians are trying to impose on us, and we are drawing up our strategic plan," Humenyuk concluded.

Ukrainian Perspective: Invasion of Ukraine: November 5th, 2022
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited
[Korrespondent] 22:23 The Russians fired heavy artillery at the Mir community in the Nikopol district of the Dnipropetrovsk region in the evening. An enemy projectile hit a residential building, wounding a nine-year-old child, said the head of the OVA, Valentin Reznichenko.

21:19 Podolyak urged to strike at Iranian factories for the production of drones and missiles: "We need to take a tougher approach to countries like Iran. Paying attention to what they are violating: quite specifically, they kill their people on the streets, protesting against an absolutely totalitarian regime. .. finance or supply weapons to the Russian Federation... It seems to me that it would be possible to inflict specific strikes on the production of drones and ballistic missiles, etc. A state that finances terrorist groups and states cannot continue to do this with impunity."

Podolyak stressed that the supply of Iranian drones and weapons to terrorist states will continue until "the civilized world begins to punish here and now."

21:02 The IAEA reported that the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant was again connected to the energy system of Ukraine. ZNPP's external power supply was restored two days later after it completely lost access to external sources of electricity as a result of shelling by Russian troops.

20:25 In the Kherson region, occupiers abducted 34 children from the village of Preobrazhenka of the Mirny community - they were taken to the Russian city of Anapa, said the head of the Mirny village military administration, Valentina Holovataya. Parents were promised to return the children before the end of this week, but then again extended the stay for another week.

20:12 The Riga-based company PRIVA has begun sewing winter uniforms for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Ukrainian Ambassador to Latvia Oleksandr Mishchenko said. PRIVA creates clothing for the military according to all NATO standards, it is sewn according to the sizes provided by the units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In the near future, the uniform will be sent by humanitarian convoy along with other military aid.

20:07 Zelensky announced the launch next week of another fundraising direction - raising funds for a fleet of marine drones: "I think absolutely everyone understands what it is and what it is for, and I am sure that millions of people will support such a direction in our defense. How it works - everyone has already seen it. And this is only to protect our, our sea area, we do not pretend to be someone else's."

19:59 Zelensky, in an evening video message, commented on the reports of Iranian officials, who finally admitted that they supplied drones for Russian terror: "But they lied in this confession too. We shoot down Iranian drones at least ten pieces every day, and the Iranian regime claims that allegedly gave a little and even before the start of a full-scale invasion. Just yesterday, 11 shaheeds were destroyed. We know for sure that Iranian instructors taught Russian terrorists how to use drones, and in Tehran they are generally silent about this."

"If Iran continues to lie about the obvious, this means that the world will make even more efforts to investigate the terrorist cooperation between the Russian and Iranian regimes and how Russia pays Iran for such cooperation. There will be no such thing in the modern world to some of the terrorists or their accomplices remained unpunished," the president stressed.

19:37 In an evening video message, Zelensky announced "good news" about air defense and missile defense for Ukraine and said that he had held a regular meeting of the Headquarters of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief today: "We analyzed the situation on the front line, in all directions, on the energy front, the situation on the borders in great detail "We know what the enemy is preparing for. We will respond and continue to liberate our land. We also analyzed in great detail everything related to supplies to the Defense Forces: equipment, ammunition, communications, winter things. We separately considered countering missile and drone terror - there are already quite significant the results are that the percentage of shooting down has become higher, but there is still work to be done. We must ensure the full protection of the Ukrainian sky and we will continue to do everything possible and impossible for this."

17:36 Russia has not yet managed to destroy a single HIMARS in Ukraine, a senior Pentagon official told Politico on condition of anonymity.

17:04 The NBU eased currency restrictions for volunteers. In particular, the regulator added thermal imagers and "a number of other devices" to the list of defense products. Volunteers will be able to pay for them abroad with hryvnia cards without restrictions. Also, individuals will be able to buy currency and transfer it abroad. The monthly limit for them will be 400 thousand hryvnia.

15:28 A new batch of kamikaze drones and, possibly, missiles has probably arrived from Iran to Moscow, writes Bild. According to the publication, on the morning of Thursday, November 3, a cargo Il-76 of Pouya Air, which is under sanctions due to the fact that its planes are used to deliver illegal cargo, took off from Tehran and landed at Moscow's Vnukovo airport, after which it began to unload and move large boxes to the warehouse.

14:41 Russian media report an attempt on the so-called. "Supreme Judge of the DNR". According to them, the "judge" received gunshot wounds and is in serious condition. Ukrainian and Russian opposition publics write that Alexander Nikulin is the very "judge" who sentenced the British Sean Pinner and Andrew Hill to death, as well as the Moroccan Saadun Bragimov.

14:27 The Russians have appointed a new Gauleiter in Mariupol - Dmitry Berdnikov, who was transferred from the post of first deputy head of the government of the Republic of Yakutia, became it. Prior to that, he was the mayor of Irkutsk and Yakutsk. According to the adviser to the current mayor of Mariupol, Petr Andryushchenko, the reason for the "change of leader" is an internal political struggle, while the reason officially announced to the "mayor" Konstantin Ivashchenko is the failure of preparations for the winter period and too much embezzlement of funds.

The change in leadership came as a complete surprise to the Mariupol collaborators, most of whom will be fired. The new "owner" of Mariupol Berdnikov arrives with his people for almost all positions. So far, Ivashchenko will retain the function of a formal "mayor", but he has already been removed from all processes in the city, Andryushchenko said.

13:53 Most of the inhabitants of Odessa, who participated in the voting on the future fate of the monument to Catherine II, were in favor of its demolition, Mayor Gennady Trukhanov said. He noted that he also supports such a decision. The decision will then be made by the City Council.

13:28 In six months, the UNITED24 fundraising platform has raised over $217 million. This money was used to purchase ambulances, medical equipment, the first demining vehicle in Ukraine - Armtrac 400, thousands of drones, body armor, helmets and other ammunition for Ukrainian defenders. A collection has also begun for the restoration of the stadium in Irpin, said the head of the Ministry of Digital Development, Mikhail Fedorov.

Ten ambassadors support Ukraine and help collect donations around the world. In October, the undisputed world boxing champion Oleksandr Usyk, NASA astronaut Scott Kelly and American historian Timothy Snyder joined the team of ambassadors.

12:40 Iran admitted for the first time that it supplied drones to Moscow. Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Aabdollahian said a "small number" of drones were delivered to Russia months before Russian troops invaded Ukraine on Feb. 24. At the same time, he denied the information that Tehran continues to supply drones to Moscow.

"This hype raised by some Western countries that Iran has provided Russia with missiles and drones to help in the war in Ukraine - the missile part is absolutely wrong ... As for the drones - it's true, we provided Russia with a small number of drones a few months before the war in Ukraine. Ukraine," the head of the Iranian Foreign Ministry said.

He also stated that Tehran and Kyiv agreed to discuss accusations of using Iranian drones in Ukraine two weeks ago, but the Ukrainians allegedly did not show up for the agreed meeting.

11:34 Ukrenergo announced the restriction of electricity supply to all categories of consumers in Kiev, Kiev, Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Zhytomyr, Sumy, Kharkiv and Poltava regions due to increased electricity consumption. Hourly outage schedules in these areas have been temporarily discontinued.

10:45 After the start of the Russian invasion, Slovak manufacturers sent spare parts to Russia and Iran that could be used for the production of heavy weapons, writes Denník N. The publication stated that it had a list of thousands of items, including bearings, engines, electronics, equipment for the production of components tires that can be used in the production of tanks, armored vehicles, missile systems or carriers of intercontinental ballistic missiles.

10:08 North Korea for the first time in several years began to send trains to Russia. It is likely that the DPRK is secretly supplying the Russian Federation with shells and ammunition for the war in Ukraine, writes Reuters.

09:47 The General Staff announced the approximate losses of the enemy on the morning of November 5. The enemy suffered the greatest losses in the Limansky and Avdeevsky directions.

  • personnel - about 75,440 (+600) people liquidated,

  • tanks - 2758 (+8),

  • armored combat vehicles - 5601 (+21),

  • artillery systems - 1776 (+4),

  • MLRS - 391 (+0),

  • air defense systems - 202 (+1),

  • aircraft - 277 (+0),

  • helicopters - 260 (+2),

  • UAV operational-tactical level - 1462 (+12),

  • cruise missiles - 399 (+2),

  • ships/boats - 16 (+0),

  • automotive equipment and tankers - 4184 (+10),

  • special equipment - 155 (+0).

09:43 Ukrenergo warned of hourly power outages on November 5 in Kiev, Kiev, Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Zhytomyr, Sumy, Kharkiv, Poltava regions.

09:37 In the Donetsk region over the past day, as a result of enemy shelling, three civilians were killed - two in Bakhmut and one in Druzhba. Eight more people were injured, Pavel Kirilenko, head of the OVA, said.

09:25 The American Institute for the Study of War (ISW) notes that Putin is creating conditions for the continuation of covert mobilization, which indicates that partial mobilization did not provide sufficient forces to achieve Putin's maximalist goals in Ukraine, despite his statements to the contrary. The permission to mobilize prisoners could also indicate that Putin is trying to prevent social tension by conscripting convicts rather than civilian Russian men. At the same time, mobilization efforts will continue to put pressure on the Russian economy and may lead to social tension if the Kremlin does not fulfill its financial obligations to the participants in the "special operation."

The Russian military is likely trying to use the mobilized personnel to restart the Donetsk offensive, but will most likely not be able to achieve operationally significant success. In the meantime, Russian troops are creating conditions for a controlled withdrawal in the northwest of the Kherson region, which is likely to avoid a disorderly flight from the right bank of the Dnieper. However, the invaders will probably have to participate in a combat retreat to prevent Ukrainian troops from pursuing them on the left bank.

ISW also suggests that Iran is using Russia's dependence on Iranian weapons systems to ask the Russian Federation for help in implementing its nuclear program.

08:46 The Air Force reported that over the past day they shot down two Caliber cruise missiles in the southern direction, two Russian Ka-52 attack helicopters in the Kherson region, 11 Shahed-136 kamikaze drones and three operational-tactical UAVs.

08:02 Over the past day, units of the Defense Forces repelled attacks by invaders in the areas of the settlements of Belogorovka in the Luhansk region and Disputed, Bakhmutskoye, Bakhmut, Ivangrad, Kleschievka, Ozaryanovka, Mayorsk, Kamenka, Pervomayskoye, Nevelskoye, Maryinka, Novomikhaiovka and Pavlovka of the Donetsk region, the General Staff said in the morning summary .

According to the General Staff, on November 3, the Armed Forces of Ukraine hit an enemy crossing near Antonovka, Kherson region, as a result of which the tugboat was destroyed. Two more boats were damaged and require repair. The defeat of the column of invaders, who were waiting for the crossing in the area of the settlement of Olgovka, was also confirmed. In addition, on November 4, in the area of the settlement of Novovasilievka, Mykolaiv region, six enemy tankers were destroyed.

On November 3, the arrival of about 80 wounded invaders was noted in Melitopol. The medical units of the occupiers lack qualified personnel, including surgeons. The existing medical staff is not able to provide quality medical care. In Kherson, the Russians are trying to find local residents who refused to "evacuate". The city is being robbed, the infrastructure is being destroyed.

07:21 At the UN General Assembly, Russia was condemned in its own resolution on the fight against neo-Nazism in the world - an amendment was made to it about the war of the Russian Federation against Ukraine. And the Russian ambassador to the UN, Vasily Nebenzya, voted for a modified resolution. Serhiy Kislytsya , Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the UN , announced the "epic" vote .

04:24 The Russian military in the occupied Skadovsk, Kherson region , publicly executed a 56-year-old local resident , nurse Tatyana Mudrenko, for exclaiming "Skadovsk is Ukraine!" This is reported by the Financial Times with reference to the words of the sister of the executed woman, Natalia Chernaya.

00:24 Ukraine will receive new missile defense and air defense systems by the end of the year, agreements on their supply are already in the process of being implemented, Kuleba said. In addition, according to him, Ukraine will receive the first 26 out of 90 restored and modernized T-72 tanks next month.

On the need to raise wages in the defense sector
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Commentary, unless otherwise noted, is from V. Murakhovsky

[ColonelCassad] The problem is in defense.

Chemezov said that the average salary in the defense industry should be raised by 10 percent compared to the average in the region.

Consider an example in Moscow.
A radio installer (manufacturers products that are in demand in tank troops) has a standard hour salary of 168 rubles. That is, for a month in one shift, he earns 84 thousand rubles. He receives 60 thousand rubles in his hands.

A 10 percent rise in wages in Moscow will provide him with a salary in the region of 67-68 thousand rubles.

At the same time, the order for products for tanks has grown many times, what was previously required to be produced in a month, now MORE tenfold.

The main thing in the defense industry is people. At least you need to pay attention to salaries. Otherwise, we will move to the result at a snail's pace.

Commentary by Russian military journalist Boris Rozhin:
I would add that in addition to raising wages, it is necessary to consider improving the social package for defense industry workers.
