[AlAhram] Explosives planted at a bar in northeast Nigeria ... a particularly crimson stretch of Islam's bloody border... injured 11 people, police said Saturday, the second attack in days targeting drinking spots in Taraba state and claimed by affiliates of the Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems.... group.
The blast went off at a moonshine bar in Nukkai, outside state capital Jalingo around 1900 GMT on Friday, police front man Usman Abdullahi, told AFP.
"The explosive concealed in a polythene bag was left at the bar by an unknown person during a power outage," he said.
"Eleven people were maimed in the blast, including 10 men and a woman."
On Saturday, the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) grabbed credit.
"The soldiers of the caliphate detonated an bomb... inside a bar in Nukkai," the group said on Telegram, claiming the attack maimed 10 people.
On Tuesday, a kaboom at a bar in the nearby town of Iware killed six people and injured 16 others, police said.
ISWAP claimed that blast in a statement posted on IS propaganda channels monitored by SITE Intelligence.
That was the first indication that ISWAP is operating in Taraba, outside its habitual area of operations in the Lake Chad region.
Taraba is one of several northern states where criminal gangs, branded bandidos, raid villages, kill residents, loot and burn homes and kidnap for ransom.
There have been increasing concerns about growing ties between jihadists and bandidos who are motivated by financial motives with no ideological leaning.

Powerful assured that members of the group would never harm Hausas residing across the South-East region.

The statement reads, "Following the incessant abduction, killing and burning down of properties belonging to Biafrans and Igbos, we the global movement and family of the Indigenous People of Biafra under the command and leadership of our great leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu wish to state unequivocally that those behind these atrocities are not IPOB member nor are they Eastern Security Network operatives.
"The perpetrators are criminals recruited by our enemies to demonise us. No member of IPOB will engage in acts inimical to the people we are struggling to liberate. We are not turbans and we cannot suddenly resort to terrorism.
"These agents of darkness behind these senseless and barbaric acts are the ones who don't want our detained leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu to be released. Their intension is to create the false impression that his followers are violent mostly peaceful but they are wrong.
"We want to make it categorically clear to all and sundry that anybody committing any atrocity in Biafraland in the name of IPOB or ESN operative doesn't want Biafra to come. Those behind this madness are working with the Nigeria security to criminalise IPOB. They must also be prepared to pay for their sins because we will not allow anyone who inflicts pains and sorrow on our people to go free.

One thing I noticed -- refugees from the Ukraine tend to be women, children, and the elderly. While those from Muslim nations tend to be military-age males.
They're not men, because clearly if they are actually fleeing danger, they've left the women, children, and elderly to suffer.

Sadr said that the "issue of normalization and Israeli ambitions to dominate our beloved Iraq" was one of the core reasons that got the Sadrist Movement involved with the electoral process again.
"The Sadrist bloc and its allies ... will soon announce a draft project to criminalize normalization and dealing with the Zionist entity at all," he said in a tweet.
The normalization of ties with Israel as part of the Abraham Accords is a US-led joint Middle East peace initiative. Four countries — the United Arab Emirates, Sudan, Bahrain, and Morocco — have announced normalization agreements with Israel, with America's support.
Sadr added that once his bloc proposes the bill, it will be passed to the parliament for voting. It is noteworthy that the holy man's bloc emerged as the largest party of the October elections, securing 73 parliamentary seats.
A conference advocating for Iraq to join the Abraham Accords was held in the Kurdistan Region's capital of Erbil in September and was attended by more than 300 Sunnis and Shiites from across the country.
Widespread condemnation from Baghdad and Erbil struck the conference, with Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi calling it "illegal" and saying that the concept of normalization with Israel is illegal as per the Iraqi constitution.
Sadr also expressed staunch rejection of the conference. He said Erbil "must forbid such terrorist Zionist meetings" and called on the Iraqi government to arrest all who attended, otherwise threatening to take action himself.
"We shall take responsibility for what must be done according to Sharia," he tweeted at the time, referring to laws derived from Islamic teachings.
Days after, an Iraqi court issued arrest warrants for three people accused of participating in the conference.
