Rivers State is a diverse state that is home to many ethnic groups, the majority being Igbo or Igboid, but also including the Ogoni and Ijaw.

In 2019, Governor Ezenwo Nyesom Wike declared Rivers State to be a Christian state because it is made up of 90% Christians and 10% orthodox with few strangers practicing Islam unconventionally.

As I recall, Snowy Thing, the issue in that part of the world is that the oil companies are not sharing their wealth with the locals, supporting them in the style to which they feel keenly entitled.

#3 I was just reflecting upon the fact, a while back, that everyone I used to know who lived and worked in the area basically moved to the South African oilfield to get away from the various forms of repression.
