[LockdownSkeptics] Destruction of the Imperial College's Ferguson model by some top Google people posting anonymously? here with an update here.
Conclusions.
All papers based on this code should be retracted immediately. Imperial’s modelling efforts should be reset with a new team that isn’t under Professor Ferguson, and which has a commitment to replicable results with published code from day one.
“On a personal level, I’d go further and suggest that all academic epidemiology be defunded. This sort of work is best done by the insurance sector. Insurers employ modelers and data scientists, but also employ managers whose job is to decide whether a model is accurate enough for real world usage and professional software engineers to ensure model software is properly tested, understandable and so on. Academic efforts don’t have these people, and the results speak for themselves."

It was demolished by real experts - not Goo-goo wannabes - in mid-March.
Dr. John Ioannidis of Stanford, the man who's done more than anyone over the last 15 years to expose spurious causal claims in biomedical research, called BS on this fraud in his March 17 article, "A fiasco in the making?"

This sort of work is best done by the insurance sector.
So are the height and weight tables. They were done by insurance companies before the 90s. They had money resting on that game. Then the government butted in with 'models'. Suddenly, magically, a lot of people became 'overweight'. "We have to do something!"
[THEHILL] FBI Director Christopher Wray is coming under fire from Republicans and allies of President Trump.
GOP politicians, pundits and conservative figures are signaling growing frustration with Wray over concerns that he has not moved quickly enough to "clean house" within the FBI, a frequent target of criticism for Trump.
Their concerns are linked to the FBI investigation into Russian election interference and the Trump campaign.

Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.), a member of the Judiciary Committee with oversight of the FBI, noted that "we’ve got a problem at the FBI."
Who could have suspected? Mind like a steel trap that Kennedy fellow.
“Elon Musk threatened to move Tesla Inc.’s headquarters and future program to Texas and Nevada “immediately,” a day after a California county told the company it can’t reopen its auto-assembly plant yet.“
Odds on it relating to the destruction of the Imperial College's Ferguson model by some top Google people posting anonymously? here with an update here.
[Bloomberg] Elon Musk lashed out at the California county blocking Tesla Inc. from reopening its only U.S. car plant, threatening to immediately move the company’s headquarters and future programs to other states and cease manufacturing at its factory.
The chief executive officer said Tesla will file a lawsuit against Alameda County, a day after its health officer said it wasn’t appropriate for the carmaker to move forward with plans to reopen. Musk, who has called government shutdown orders to contain the coronavirus “fascist,” said Tesla will decide whether to keep producing cars in Fremont, California, based on how it’s treated going forward.

There is nothing whatsoever that Tesla finds in Fremont CA that it cannot just as easily, and more cost-effectively, find in Austin or Plano or Fort Worth TX. Without all the bureaucratic bother and BS of Cali.
Here's betting that this time next year finds Tesla HQ in Texas.

If I was one of the governors of TX or NV, I'd be on the phone with Musk right now offering to send a fleet of moving trucks and the personnel to move it all. Might as well do it during the shutdown.

I don't know about Nevada but Texas has suffered from Californication . They come here wanting the "free stuff" they were used to getting , then scream like stuck pigs when they get taxed for it.
[APNEWS] Former President Barack Obama That’s just how white folks will do you.... harshly criticized President Donald Trump ...dictatorial for repealing some (but not all) of the diktats of his predecessor, misogynistic because he likes pretty girls, homophobic because he doesn't think gender bending should be mandatory, truly a man for all seasons...... ’s handling of the coronavirus (aka COVID19 or Chinese Plague) ...the twenty first century equivalent of bubonic plague, only instead of killing off a third of the population of Europe it kills 3.4 percent of those who notice they have it. It seems to be fond of the elderly, especially Iranian politicians and holy men... pandemic as an "absolute chaotic disaster" during a conversation with ex-members of his administration, according to a recording obtained by Yahoo News.
Obama also reacted to the Justice Department dropping its criminal case against Trump’s first national security adviser, Michael Flynn, saying he worried that the "basic understanding of rule of law is at risk."
More than 78,400 people with COVID-19 have died in the United States and more than 1.3 million people have tested positive, according to the latest estimates from the Center for Systems Science and Engineering at Johns Hopkins University.
Obama’s comments came during a Friday call with 3,000 members of the Obama Alumni Association, people who served in his administration. Obama urged his supporters to back his former vice president, Joe Foreign Policy Whiz Kid Biden ...I'm not working for you. Don't be such a horse's ass.... , who is trying to unseat Trump in the Nov. 3 election.

I shudder to think how Baraq would deal with a biological attack. But the thing is, he would have given the Chicoms everything they want so they would not have attacked. They would have ended up owning us but we would have been spared the pandemic.

[FREEP] A Republican congressman sued Democratic Gov. Gretchen Whitmer ...Her Excellency, the dictator of Michigan, 2020 Dem VP contender... in federal court Monday, alleging she has violated the constitution in her management of the coronavirus (aka COVID19 or Chinese Plague) ...the twenty first century equivalent of bubonic plague, only instead of killing off a third of the population of Europe it kills 3.4 percent of those who notice they have it. It seems to be fond of the elderly, especially Iranian politicians and holy men... pandemic.
U.S. Rep. Paul Mitchell, R-Dryden Township, said he wants a judge to "define the limits of a state's police power."
He sued Whitmer in federal court in Grand Rapids.
"Michiganders can and do take reasonable, private action to protect themselves from infection without the need to shut down civil society," Mitchell said in the lawsuit.
"Given that the projected surge has not occurred, there is no basis, either legally or factually, to continue any further mandatory lockdown orders."
The suit alleges violations of the U.S. and Michigan constitutions and state law.
Lavora Barnes, chairwoman of the Michigan Democratic Party, called the suit a "political stunt" and "a shining example of how the GOP is failing the people of Michigan."
Michigan has reported more than 4,000 deaths from COVID-19, the third-highest number in the nation, and about 44,000 total cases. Though the growth in cases has slowed, Whitmer warns that Michigan is at risk of a second surge if it reopens the economy too quickly.
Whitmer has responded by closing schools, bars, many other businesses, and restricting restaurants to carryout and delivery service. Michigan remains under a stay-at-home order until at least May 15, with residents advised to wear face masks when in enclosed public spaces.
The economy has come to a near halt, and more than 1 million residents have sought unemployment benefits.

[BIZPACREVIEW] Senator Ted Cruz verbally body-slammed MSNBC’s henpecked host Joe Scarborough by reminding him that he had "chased after Trump for 2 years like a teenage girl throwing her panties at the latest boy band" to book Donald Trump ...His ancestors didn't own any slaves... on his show before he became president.
The feud erupted after Scarborough tweeted a deceptively-edited video suggesting that Vice President Mike Pence was carrying empty boxes of personal protective equipment (PPE) as part of a staged photo-op.
However, some men learn by reading. A few learn by observation. The rest have to pee on the electric fence for themselves... the full C-Span video debunked the fake news when it showed Pence (who’s in charge of the White House coronavirus (aka COVID19 or Chinese Plague) ...the twenty first century equivalent of bubonic plague, only instead of killing off a third of the population of Europe it kills 3.4 percent of those who notice they have it. It seems to be fond of the elderly, especially Iranian politicians and holy men... task force) carrying full boxes of PPE and later joking about carrying empty boxes "just for the camera."
Joe Concha, the media news hound for The Hill, pointed out that the left-wing pollster who tried to shame Pence with this false narrative never deleted his tweet.
Concha tweeted: "This false tweet got 88,000 retweets and 221,000 likes and millions of views. It has been proven to be a lie. It’s been fact-checked as a "clear case of manipulated video" and "an example of ’deceptive editing-omission’" by the Washington Post. The author doesn’t care. Why is that?"
Predictably, Joe Scarborough gleefully shared the debunked video to dunk on Vice President Pence. Like the rest of the fake-news media, Scarborough didn’t bother to confirm the veracity of his tweet before posting it.
Senator Ted Cruz trashed Scarborough for shamelessly pushing a false narrative.
Cruz tweeted: "When you’re on the defensive for being dishonest and corrupt, perhaps best not to forward fraudulent stories from Jimmy Kimmel (that he’s admitted were false)? You are claiming to be a journalist, after all."
In response to conservative backlash, Scarborough deleted his tweet and offered an insincere apology to Vice President Pence.
[FOX-NEWS] Controversy is ensuing in San Francisco after the city decided to give alcohol, marijuana, and methadone to homeless addicts in hotels during the coronavirus pandemic, according to a report.
Last Friday a man who describes himself on Twitter as “Formerly homeless addict in #recovery advocating for the #truth about homelessness and drug addiction. Faith, Hope and Love. SF Native. Tweets are my own.” tweeted to the city.
He wrote: “I just found out that homeless placed in hotels in SF are being delivered Alcohol, Weed and Methadone because they identified as an addict/alcoholic for FREE. You're supposed to be offering treatment. This is enabling and is wrong on many levels
#3
It's the only way to keep them in the hotel. Otherwise they'd be back on the streets looking to score. This is the end result of the government's failure to enforce existing laws which would require these people to be incarcerated, not in hotels but in jails or camps out in the boondocks.

Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador said his government would send a diplomatic note to Washington for information on the 2009-2011 operation known as ‘Fast and Furious,’ a topic that has resurfaced in recent days amid a debate over historic U.S.-Mexico cooperation on security and possible corruption under previous administrations.

A most excellent time to bring the subject up now that we're discussing various misdeeds that occurred during the scandal-free Obama administration. Inquiring minds...

We simply have to win on Nov. 3. Then four years to expose the lies and criminal behavior of these corrupt little sh!ts. God forbid they get away with this. Full court press.

I'd honor extradition requests, with the exception that if one cops to the same crime in the US and does time, sending them to Mexico might constitute double jeopardy. Though I'd allow Mexico to appeal that one to SCOTUS (who recently said state and federal charges do not constitute double jeopardy).
#8
we are willing to extradite the mastermind, one Eric Holder
all these coup plotters and corrupt officials are comforted by the thought if they ever did time, it would be at the cushy club Fed, with plenty of access to amenities and media mouthpieces.
i bet letting a third would country prosecute and jail them would be something they never foresaw
kind of the reverse of what they were using other countries for in their efforts to spy on other candidates
let Holder rot in Mexican jail

I can't remember the topic, but I can remember Congress asking Holder for some memo which, at the time, he was refusing to release. But, my heavens, is there nothing from the Obama Administration that doesn't stink?
