[MSN] OROVILLE, Calif. ‐ Authorities are investigating a suspected bomb-making operation after a man was injured and a woman was arrested following a kaboom at a Northern Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, home.
Nicholas West suffered injuries to his hands and legs in the blast March 19 in a rural neighborhood northeast of Oroville, the Butte County Sheriff’s Office said.
Deputies evacuated the area as they searched the property and removed pieces of a detonated bomb, a sheriff's statement said.
Investigators believe West was trying to make some kind of bomb when the blast occurred, the statement said.
Deputies also found 20 firearms, ammunition and large quantities of narcotics. Four of the 20 guns were illegal assault weapons, officials said.
West, 26, was hospitalized in unknown condition.
Elizabeth Ellis, 55, was arrested on suspicion of possession of illegal assault weapons, possession of a controlled substance for sale, possession of an bomb, and possession of materials necessary to make an bomb. It wasn't known Sunday if she has an attorney.

[ALMASDARNEWS] The law enforcement authorities of Russia’s southern region of Kabardino-Balkaria have neutralised three bandidos who were planning a terrorist attack, the National Anti-Terrorist Committee said on Monday.
"In the course of further operation and search measures, the whereabouts of three bandidos were established. They were blocked off near the village of Kremenchug-Konstantinovskoye, of the Baksansky district of Kabardino-Balkaria. The armed criminals confronted the law enforcement officers who tried to detain them and were neutralised", the statement said.
Automatic rifles, traumatic guns, ammunition and an improvised bomb were discovered at the scene of the incident. There were no casualties among law enforcement officers or civilians.

[Jpost] The Israel Defense Forces said late Sunday that it had foiled "a terror attack" in the West Bank, opening fire on a group of Paleostinians throwing rocks at passing Israeli vehicles. One of the Paleostinians was killed and another maimed.
The army said the incident occurred at the Ni’lin Junction south of the city of Qaliqilya.
"IDF troops spotted a number of suspects hurling rocks at Israeli vehicles driving on the highway," the army said. "The troops fired towards the suspects after they hurled a rock and were preparing to hurl additional rocks."
