Getting in on the Libyan oil biz isn’t enough for Sultan Erdogan Recep Tayip I “the much beloved”. He needs Somalia’s, too.
[AlAhram] Ottoman Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan said on Monday that Somalia had invited The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...Qatar's satrapy in Asia Minor... to explore for oil in its seas, after Ankara signed a maritime agreement with Libya last year, broadcaster NTV reported.
Turkey has been a major source of aid to Somalia following a famine in 2011 as Ankara seeks to increase its influence in the Horn of Africa to counter Gulf rivals like Soddy Arabia ...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face... and the United Arab Emirates.
Ottoman Turkish engineers are helping build roads in Somalia, and Ottoman Turkish officers have trained Somali soldiers as part of efforts to build up the country's army.
Speaking to news hounds on his flight back from a Libya summit in Berlin, Erdogan said Turkey would take steps in line with the Somali invitation, but did not elaborate further.
"There is an offer from Somalia. They are saying: 'There is oil in our seas. You are carrying out these operations with Libya, but you can also do them here.' This is very important for us," Erdogan was cited as saying by NTV. "Therefore, there will be steps that we will take in our operations there."
In late December, a group of Ottoman Turkish engineers was among those hit in a blast at a checkpoint in Mogadishu that killed at least 90 people. At the weekend, a boom-mobileing maimed some 15 people, including Ottoman Turkish contractors, in Afgoye in an attack claimed by Somali murderous Moslems.
In November, Turkey signed a maritime delimitation deal with Libya's internationally recognised Government of National Accord (GNA), in a move that infuriated Greece and Cyprus. Athens has been at odds with Ankara over offshore resources off the coast of the divided island of Cyprus.

[Telegraph] Serious terrorists will be forced to serve their entire prison sentences without any prospect of early release as part of a crackdown announced on Tuesday.
Good.
All offenders convicted of preparing or committing a terrorist act will face a minimum of 14 years in jail, more than four times the present three years - and the current rule allowing release of serious terrorists two-thirds of the way through the sentence will be abolished.
They will also face tougher controls on release including lie detector tests that could help prevent a repeat of the London Bridge terror attack where killer Usman Khan is thought to have conned police and probation into thinking he had reformed.
Tightening the noose and spreading the net. Thank you, President Trump.
[AlAhram] The Honduran government has formally declared Iranian-backed Lebanese group Hezbollah a terrorist organization, a top security official said on Monday.
"We declare Hezbollah a terrorist organization and will include it in the registry of persons and institutions linked to acts of terrorism and its financing," said Luis Suazo, Honduras’ deputy security minister.
Heavily armed Hezbollah, a Shia Moslem group, has also been designated a terrorist organization by the U.S. government.
Last week, Guatemala’s new president, Alejandro Giammattei, also signaled he would label Hezbollah a terrorist group, in addition to keeping the Guatemalan embassy in Israel in the city of Jerusalem.
Both moves were seen as aligning Guatemala’s foreign policy more closely with that of U.S. President Donald Trump ...His ancestors didn't own any slaves... Israel’s foreign minister, Israel Katz, called the Honduran government’s move "an important step in the global war on terror" and said it built on similar actions taken in recent months by Britannia, Argentina ...a country located on the other side of the Deep South. It is covered with Pampers and inhabited by Grouchos, who dance the Tangle. They used to have some islands called the Malvinas located where the Falklands are now. They're not supposed to cry for Evita... and others.
"I applaud the Honduran government for its important decision to declare Hezbollah a terrorist organization and to impose sanctions against it," Katz said.
Israel considers Hezbollah, which is backed by its enemy Iran, the biggest threat across its border. The two last fought a war in 2006.
Britannia’s Treasury, or finance ministry, said on Jan. 17 it had expanded an asset freeze to include the whole of Hezbollah in addition to its military wing.
Last year, Argentina designated the group, which it blames for two attacks on its soil, as a terrorist organization and froze its assets in the country.
Other countries that have designate Hezbollah or its military wing as a terrorist organization include Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the Europe ...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum... an Union and Israel.
[DW] A leaked military intelligence report from the United States over the weekend had suggested that a man from Jordan could target US forces in Germany. But officials say the threat was quickly dismissed as nonexistent.
A side effect of allowing so many of the vicious to remain in the country that they can’t be kept track of. Thank goodness this time it turned out to be a false alarm.
On Sunday, the magazine Newsweek reported that US troops based in Germany had faced an "imminent attack" from a "Jordanian holy warrior currently located in Germany" over the weekend.
The US Army Europe ...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum... 's press office confirmed the report. However, the hip bone's connected to the leg bone... with little additional detail, the press office reported that the threat was determined as not imminent.
"We can confirm a potential threat was identified and investigated Saturday night," the office reported in an email to DW. "German and US officials were consulted and no imminent threat was found to exist. We'd like to remind everyone to stay vigilant and be aware of their surroundings."
The story emerged after a US soldier posted a screenshot to Facebook of a "spot report" from the US's Germany-based 66th Military Intelligence Brigade.
"The source of information stated the attack would be carried out by an unnamed Jordanian holy warrior currently located in Germany near an unknown US military base," the document in the screenshot seen by DW read. "The unknown Jordanian was described as a loyalist to the Jordanian kinglet and recently advocated killing US soldiers in Germany." (Newsweek reports that "kinglet" is a derogatory term for Jordan's King Abdullah II ‐ referring to him as a puppet of the United States.)
The document added that a spot report was a "preliminary report on ambiguous circumstances, not fully evaluated information," intended to alert commanders and staff to potential threats.

They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates. Home of nutbag holy manYusuf al-Qaradawi... 's envoy is set to enter the enclave on Tuesday to deliver another installment of relief funds amid a substantial increase in attacks involving explosives attached to airborne devices being sent from the Strip to Israel.
Qatari deputy envoy, Khaled al-Hardan, will enter the Gazoo ...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamaswith about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response... Strip on Tuesday in order to deliver another installment of relief funds to impoverished families in the enclave, the Gulf state's officials have confirmed. The announcement comes just hours after yet another bomb attached to a cluster of balloons sent from Gaza, landed in southern Israel.
In addition, a bundle of balloons with an attached explosive was found on Monday afternoon in the city of Beit Shemesh, west of Jerusalem. It's unclear how the balloons made their way to the area but it is unlikely they had been sent from the Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth",-controlled enclave.
Hours later, a suspicious cluster of balloons landed in the southern city of Sderot. Police sappers were called to the scene.
During the last few days there has been a substantial increase in the number of explosive balloons being launched from Gaza into southern Israeli cities located near the border.
On Friday, a cluster of suspicious balloons were caught on camera flying over one of the main streets in the city of Ashdod, located more than 40km (25 miles) from the Gaza border.
On Thursday, security forces were called to one of the communities located in the Sdot Negev Regional Council that borders the Strip, after an incendiary device went kaboom! in the vicinity of civilian population. There were no casualties reported in the incident.
[IsraelTimes] Nadav Argaman says security service prevented over 560 terror attacks over the past year, including over 300 shootings.
The Shin Bet security service foiled over 560 terror attacks in 2019, including 10 suicide kabooms and four kidnappings, agency chief Nadav Argaman said Monday.
"The past year was filled with security challenges on all the fronts in which we operate. During it, we prevented upwards of 560 significant terror attacks, including 10 suicide kabooms, four kidnappings and more than 300 shooting attacks," Argaman said.
The number was a slight uptick from 2018, when the Shin Bet was credited with foiling some 500 terror attacks.
The past year also saw a number of fatal attacks, including a bombing at a West Bank spring that killed an Israeli teen, and a stabbing attack in the West Bank’s Etzion settlement bloc in which a yeshiva student was killed.
In total, five Israelis were killed in suspected terror attacks in 2019, not including Gazook rocket attacks, a sharp decrease from 2018 when at least 11 were killed.
Argaman made his remarks alongside Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at an annual award ceremony for the organization.
The Shin Bet chief credited the foiling of the attacks to the security service’s "dedication, determination, perseverance, professionalism and creativity."
Netanyahu praised the Shin Bet, saying its efforts gave Israelis a "feeling of security, which does not go without saying in our country."
The prime minister added that the security service’s efforts was part of a larger fight against the threat posed by Iran.
"The big goal is to overcome the Iranian threat, which is a conventional threat, a nuclear threat and a terrorism threat, to overcome it the way we overcame the big threat of Pan-Arabism. We can do that, we’ve proven it," he said.
Netanyahu was referring to a movement that saw its peak in the mid-20th century, which called for a unified Arab world from North Africa through the Arabian Peninsula. This movement saw Israel, which interrupted that union, as a major enemy.
The Pan-Arab movement began dying out following Israel’s victory in the 1967 Six Day War and was seen as officially ending with Egypt’s peace treaty with Israel in 1979.
In July, the Shin Bet said it had busted an effort by the Hamas, the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood, and Hezbollah terror groups to recruit Arab Israelis to spy for Iranian intelligence.
Most attackers caught by Israel were considered to be lone wolf assailants without any major instruction from above, though security officials have indicated fears that terror groups may be starting to plot larger more complicated attacks.
Netanyahu said the Shin Bet’s successes in the area of counter-terrorism saved the lives of hundreds of Israelis, "maybe more."
Argaman and Netanyahu presented awards to six Shin Bet projects or operations from 2019 that were deemed "extraordinary."
The identities of the recipients were not revealed.
In November, Argaman said that his organization had thwarted over 450 significant terror attacks in the previous year.
"In the past year, we have thwarted over 450 significant terror attacks, and we have allowed Israeli citizens to have full and comfortable lives in the day-to-day without knowing what’s going on underground," Argaman said at a defense expo in Tel Aviv.
Argaman credited these successes to specialized technologies used by the service, its cooperation with other Israeli security forces and its "synergy with our counterparts around the world."
[National Post - Canada] Canadian Foreign Minister Francois-Philippe Champagne dismissed the Iranian position on dual nationality as 'nonsense'
Iran considers the passengers with dual nationality, who were on a Ukrainian plane that was shot down accidentally earlier this month, killing all on board, to be Iranian citizens, a Foreign Ministry spokesman said on Monday.
Many of the 176 who perished in the disaster were Iranians with dual citizenship, which is not recognized by Iran. Canada had 57 citizens on board.
“We have informed Canada that Tehran considers dual nationals who were killed in the plane crash as Iranian citizens … Iran is mourning their deaths,” Foreign Ministry spokesman Abbas Mousavi told a televised weekly news conference.
They make the same point every time they arrest a dual national hostage.

According to The Guardian, his nom de guerre is Haji Abdullah, and he is sometimes called Abdullah Qardash, unless the latter is another ISIS member who died two years ago.
Salbi is one of the group’s founders and oversaw the enslavement of members of the Yazidi community in Iraq, as well as jihadist operations around the world, according to the report.
