How The Roger Stone Indictment Undermines Robert Mueller's Probe
[The Federalist] The Roger Stone indictment and arrest is yet another Mueller team flop. As I showed in November, the Stone "bombshell" emails that appeared to show advance knowledge of WikiLeak releases actually show nothing of the sort. Weeks and even months before Jerome Corsi’s email to Trump advisor Stone possibly suggesting more "dumps" about Hillary Clinton were coming, WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange had publicly promised to publish more Clinton material.

The Stone indictment also misleadingly omits crucial facts to make it appear as though Stone was trafficking in something other than public knowledge and wild guesses. According to the indictment, "During the summer of 2016, STONE spoke to senior Trump Campaign officials about [WikiLeaks] and information it might have had that would be damaging to the Clinton Campaign."

There it is! The smoking gun of collusion! Stone knew WikiLeaks was about to release more emails! How did he know this? Well, he might have watched Assange’s press conference on June 12, 2016, in which Assange announced, "We have upcoming leaks in relation to Hillary Clinton...we have emails pending publication." Subtle, no?

The indictment goes on to state that Stone claimed to be an intermediary between Assange and the Trump campaign. Let’s stop right there for just a second. WikiLeaks released at least three batches of Clinton-related emails. The first was legally obtained through a Freedom of Information Act request. WikiLeaks is not purely a Russian front trafficking in hacked documents.

The second batch originated in the Democratic National Committee (DNC) server, stolen and then given to WikiLeaks. The third batch originated from a simple phishing scam of Clinton aide John Podesta. Those emails also found their way into WikiLeaks’ hands. It’s actually legal and constitutionally protected for a news outlet to publish stolen material. Thus, there’s nothing improper about a campaign seeking advance knowledge from the publishing outlet unless it can be shown that the campaign somehow coordinated with the thieves themselves.

The Clinton campaign had an agreement with Politico, for example, to send advance copies of Clinton stories to the DNC. Unlike the Politico/Clinton collusion, it does not appear that WikiLeaks coordinated at all with Stone.

FBI investigation into Chicago corruption secretly recorded the boss of bosses in Illinois politics
[AMERICANTHINKER] Late last year came news that the FBI raided the office of Alderman Ed Burke, taking boxes and boxes of records. Burke, who is in his fiftieth year in office as an alderman, is widely regarded as the most powerful member of the City Council, a power who has outlasted every mayor, quietly running things while the more visible mayor takes the brickbats.

Now comes shocking news that another powerful member of the Chicago City Council, Alderman Danny Solis (who is retiring – gee, I wonder why!) has been wearing a wire for the feds for two years.

The FBI secretly recorded Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan trying to get business for his private law firm from a developer brought to him by Ald. Danny Solis, who was weighing the developer's request to build a hotel in Chinatown, according to a federal court affidavit obtained by the Chicago Sun-Times.

The affidavit makes clear for the first time that the federal investigation that has snared powerful Chicago Ald. Edward M. Burke extends beyond City Hall and into the Illinois statehouse.

Footage Of Shirtless Bernie Sanders Drunkenly Singing With Soviets In ‘88 Surfaces

This is an attempt to make Bernie look okay in this version of a report, but I've got to ask: "What sort of lover takes his love to the USSR for a honeymoon?"
[Forward.com] Na Zdorovye and welcome to another round of Attempted Smear of Political Candidate Via Videos Of Their Youth Only Serves To Make Candidate More Appealing.

Forget dancing queen AOC or bangin’ Beto or even that unsettling video of teenage Ted Cruz plotting world domination — this grainy footage of a topless, hammered Bernie Sanders singing “This Land Is Your Land” in the Soviet Union blows them all out of the political shark-filled water.

Travis Justin, a Navy veteran and leader of “Draft Beto 2020,” a group that is urging Texas representative Beto O’Rourke to seek presidential election, apparently first posted the video to Twitter. “Recently discovered footage from 1988 reveals a shirtless Bernie Sanders with his wife, Jane, on their honeymoon in the USSR, drunkenly singing ‘This Land Is Your Land’ with a group of presumed Soviets,” Justin captioned the clip, which was surfaced by another Sanders detractor on Twitter.

NEW: Recently discovered footage from 1988 reveals a shirtless Bernie Sanders with his wife, Jane, on their honeymoon in the USSR, drunkenly signing “This Land Is Your Land” with a group of presumed Soviets.

H/T: @mgranville1pic.twitter.com/bpUsYRdZ7R— TOᑭ ᖇOᑭE TᖇAViS (@TopRopeTravis) January 28, 2019

It’s true that in 1988 Bernie and Jane Sanders spent time in the Soviet Union immediately after their wedding, but Sanders was the mayor of Burlington at the time, and the trip, to Burlington’s Soviet sister city, Yaroslavl, was a part of his official duties. Sanders wrote openly about it in his memoir, jokingly referring to it as a “honeymoon.”

The video, which somewhat hilariously features a shirtless Sanders belting out the lyrics to the Woody Guthrie classic with a table of apparent locals, does look like a good time. But, as Leonid Bershidsky wrote in Bloomberg of the alleged “honeymoon,” which was brought up during the 2016 primary debates to suggest that Sanders has Communist affiliations, the Soviet Union in 1988 was “hardly a place for an admirer of Communism to find comfort.”

More and More Dems Come Out To Support The Border Wall
[Daily Caller] Democratic members have increasingly expressed support for a physical barrier on the U.S.-Mexico border over the course of immigration negotiations, making it harder for party leaders to ignore their positions.

Prior to the lengthy partial government shutdown, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer seemed to have complete control over the members of his party, even those who had expressed support for the wall during election campaigns.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi ‐ then the House minority leader ‐ promised that she would not appropriate a single dollar to the wall, despite Trump’s promise of a shutdown if he did not receive $5.7 billion to build on the border.

But a number of rank and file Democrats have since said that they support a physical barrier in concert with other border security measures, perhaps due to pressure from the extended shutdown and a desire to prevent another one.

Freshman California Rep. Katie Hill, Washington Rep. Adam Smith, and Illinois Rep. Cheri Bustos have all conceded that fencing in certain areas is something that they are not reflexively opposed to.

Virginia Rep. Elaine Luria, along with 30 other members, urged Speaker Pelosi to make a deal with Trump in a letter last week and offered perhaps the most accurate view of Trump’s border proposal by Democrats yet.

#3  Shutdown cost $11 billion, that's $11 billion that Schumer and Pelosi wasted to keep Trump from spending $5.7 on the wall. They don't care how much it costs to keep that wall from being built. What are they afraid of?

Lawmakers hopeful of agreement that would prevent shutdown
WASHINGTON (AP) ‐ Capitol Hill negotiators are hopeful of an agreement as they officially kick off talks on a homeland security spending bill that is trapped in a stalemate over President Donald Trump’s long-stalled border wall.

Left on their own, the seasoned House and Senate lawmakers say they could easily reach a border security deal as they have for two years in a row. But whether Trump would sign it is another matter altogether.

Trump has grown impatient and his demands on his U.S.-Mexico border wall have become more insistent even though Democrats took back the House last fall. Democrats remain united against Trump’s vision for a massive wall project, yet some are signaling a willingness to deal in the wake of the 35-day partial government shutdown.

"We’ve consistently said that we do not support a medieval border wall from sea to shining sea," said Rep. Hakim Jeffries of New York, the No. 4 House Democrat. "However, we are able to support fencing where is makes sense, but it should be done in an evidence-based fashion."

"We’ve come to big agreements before," said the Senate’s top Democrat, Chuck Schumer of New York. "What was the common theme? When the president stays out of the negotiations we almost always succeed. When he mixes in, it’s a formula for failure. So, I’d ask President Trump, ’Let Congress deal with it on its own.’"

For their part, GOP leaders want to de-escalate the battle over the border wall and suggest they too could be flexible as bargainers seek a bipartisan agreement.

Starbucks CEO tells The View ladies just how CRAZY Democrats have become… [VIDEO]
[Right Scoop] This is actually an interesting interview with the Starbucks CEO, Howard Schultz, who explains to the ladies of The View why he can’t run as a Democrat.

It’s amazing to hear Schultz explain to these ladies why the policies espoused by Kamala Harris last night are just nuts. He said to get rid of the insurance industry would kill millions of jobs, just to replace it with a government run health care system that we can’t pay for.

Schultz explains to them that the reason he’s running as an independent is because he’d be a hypocrite if he ran as a Democrat. He says that in order to be a Democrat these days, you have to fall in line with free education, free medicare for everyone, free college, a free job for everyone...all from the government. He says he doesn’t support those policies and he’d have to be disingenuous if he said he did.

I know, he actually sounds sane when he says things like that. But the more you listen, the more you realize he’s only less insane than his Democratic counterparts. In the second part, he admitted that he is pro-choice and would have never voted for Kavanaugh.

What was hilarious to me was to watch each of the ladies on the show try and convince Schultz to run as a Democrat and not run as an independent, telling him that if he runs as an independent he’ll basically reelect Trump.

#1  Always quick with the Freudian Projection, the Left is incapable of self reflection. Thus, so many failed to grasp they had simply been co-opted into the Socialist Party USA. #3  I ran into a lefty a day ago who proudly explained that he now goes to Seattle's Best for his coffee instead of Starbucks because of Schultz's possible candidacy. His speech was about 5 minutes long with multiple "Schultz is a Russian agent to help Trump" comments.

After he stopped for a pause I had the pleasure of telling him that Seattle's Best was owned by Starbucks.

Dem-Controlled House Committee to Eliminate ‘So Help You God' From Witness Oath
[Free Beacon] Democratic members of the House Committee on Natural Resources are in the process of eliminating the words "so help you God" from the oath witnesses recite before they testify before the panel.

A draft of the new rules package, obtained by Fox News, shows the key committee plans to ask their witnesses to recite a shorter oath: "Do you solemnly swear or affirm, under penalty of law, that the testimony that you are about to give is the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth?"

The proposal has red brackets around the words "So help you God," indicating an intention to remove them. The committee, which has oversight of national parks, wildlife, and energy, has also proposed rule changes to expand its authority over natural gas in Alaska and fossil-fuel resources.

Rep. Liz Cheney (R., Wyo.), the House Republican Conference chair and a member of the natural resources committee, likened the Democratic Party to the "party of Karl Marx."

"It is incredible, but not surprising, that the Democrats would try to remove God from committee proceedings in one of their first acts in the majority," Cheney told Fox News. "They really have become the party of Karl Marx."

This isn't the first time Democrats have attempted to strike references to "God" in official party documents. The floor of the 2012 Democratic National Convention erupted with boos after a decision to restore to the platform a reference to "God" and the recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital. The inclusion was a reversal after they initially omitted these references.

#4  It creates an amusing opening. If I'm the Republican chair of a committee in the Senate, I'd just reject anything the House sends over as a result of that House committee's actions on the grounds that the witnesses were "inadequately or improperly sworn."

This Is Great! McCarthy Ticks Off Schiff
[RushLimbaugh] RUSH: Republican minority leader in the House Kevin McCarthy is really ticking off Pencil Neck Adam Schiff, delaying Schiff’s investigations into the Russia scandal. This is great.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: The thing that Kevin McCarthy is doing here, the Republican leader in the House, he has not seated any Republicans on Little Schiff’s committee! The House Intelligence Committee Schiff runs now instead of Devin Nunes, McCarthy has not assigned any Republicans to the committee yet so Schiff can’t start!

Schiff’s anti-Trump investigations and hearings have been brought to a screeching halt because he can’t do anything if there aren’t any Republicans seated on his committee. And, what Schiff’s plan was to go out and do all these interviews, find all these witnesses and turn over whatever he found to Mueller? That’s what Schiff is gonna do ’cause he thinks Mueller may not be finding as much as he, Pencil Neck, can find.

What a load these people are. What an absolute load. It’s depressing. It really is depressing to realize that there is this degree of idiocy and ignorance so close to the upper ranks of leadership in America.
