Paris Says Several Dead in Blast at French-Financed Kabul School
[AnNahar] French President Francois Hollande
...the Socialist president of La Belle France, an economic bad joke for la Belle France but seemingly a foreign policy realist...
condemned a suicide kaboom at a French-financed school in Kabul on Thursday, saying it was an attack on "culture and creativity."

"I condemn the heinous attack that occurred at the French Institute in Afghanistan ... by targeting this place of dialogue, the holy warriors are attacking culture and creativity," Hollande said in a statement.

Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius said the attack had left "several dead" and called for the perpetrators of the "barbaric act" to be identified and brought to justice.

Fabius said crisis units had been set up both in Kabul and La Belle France to look into the latest in a string of attacks to hit the Afghan capital in recent weeks.

Prime Minister Manuel Valls said the attack "strengthens La Belle France's determination to fight against barbarism."

The attack occurred late in the afternoon during a theater performance at the Istiqlal High School, which is attached to Kabul's long-established French cultural center.

10 suspected killers and thieves arrested and Kabul
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The interior ministry of Afghanistan say to have locked away
... anything you say can and will be used against you, whether you say it or not...
10 suspected killers and thieves in the past 24 hours in the main Kabul.

A statement from the ministry states that 4 people were arrested in association with two murders in Paghman district and 6 others were arrested in link with robberies.

Murders -- which are usually for personal enmity or money -- and armed robberies are the two biggest concerns in Kabul beside the threat from the armed opponents of the government.

NATO airstrike leaves 17 suspected militants dead in Parwan
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] At least 17 suspected forces of Evil were killed in two separate Arclight airstrikes by NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A collection of multinational and multilingual and multicultural armed forces, all of differing capabilities, working toward a common goal by pulling in different directions...
-led coalition security forces in northern Parwan province late on Wednesday.

"While performing reconnaissance on an area known to be used by enemy combatants, Coalition aircraft identified forces of Evil travelling in an open area. After ensuring they were well clear of any civilians, the aircraft engaged them with precision munitions," the alliance said following a statement.

This comes as earlier reports suggested at least five non-combatants were killed following the NATO Arclight airstrike in Siyagerd area of Ghorband district.

However,
denial ain't just a river in Egypt...
the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) said "ISAF is aware of the allegations that civilian casualties were caused by this strike. We take these allegations seriously and will conduct an investigation."

In the meantime, a local government official speaking on the condition of anonymity said at least 12 forces of Evil were killed in a separate Arclight airstrike in Shenwari district.

Parwan is among the relatively volatile provinces in northern Afghanistan where anti-government armed bad boy groups are actively operating in a number of its districts and frequently carry out insurgency activities.

U.S.-Wanted Jihadist Killed in Mali Operation
[AnNahar] The French army said Thursday it had killed the commander of a major West African jihadist group's branch in Mali in an operation in the north of the country.

Ahmed el Tilemsi was the emir of the Al-Murabitoun group in Mali and was earlier this year declared a "specially designated global terrorist" by the U.S. State Department, who offered a $5 million reward (four million euros) for information leading to his capture.

"Last night... French forces conducted an operation in the Gao region (of northern Mali) in coordination with Malian authorities," army front man Gilles Jaron said, adding that Tilemsi had been killed.

"We've really hit Al-Murabitoun hard," said Jaron.

Tilemsi has a long history with jihadist groups operating in the Sahel region
... North Africa's answer to the Pak tribal areas...
, having been a member of al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) before becoming one of the founding members of the Movement for Unity and Jihad in West Africa (MUJAO), a splinter group aimed at spreading jihad throughout the region.

MUJAO was one of a number of Islamist groups that occupied northern Mali last year, imposing a brutal interpretation of Islamic sharia law characterised by amputations, beatings and executions, before being ousted by the French-led military intervention.

In August 2013, it merged with a group run by notorious Algerian jihadist Mokhtar Belmokhtar to form Al-Murabitoun, which loosely translates as "the guardians" and claimed to seek Dire Revenge on La Belle France for its actions in Mali.

The one-eyed Islamist Belmokhtar split from AQIM in 2013 to form his own group and criminal masterminded a deadly raid against Algeria's In Amenas gas plant in which 38 hostages were killed in a four-day siege.

Tilemsi "was a very valuable target. We had been tracking him for several days," a government source told Agence La Belle France Presse.

The source said Tilemsi was one of the criminal masterminds of the kidnapping of Gilberto Rodrigues Leal, who MUJAO claimed to have killed last April.

According to the U.S. State Department, Tilemsi also played a role in the kidnapping of two Frenchies in Niamey in January 2011 while part of AQIM. The hostages were later found dead after a failed rescue attempt by the French military.

Tilemsi also took part in the October 2011 kidnapping of three aid workers in Algeria, which left two maimed by gunfire, the State Department said.

Egypt Jails Morsi Aide for 10 Years
[AnNahar] An Egyptian court sentenced Thursday a former minister to 10 years in jail for offering state television
... and if you can't believe state television who can you believe?
equipment to a satellite channel broadcasting demonstrations backing ousted Islamist president Mohammed Morsi.

Salah Abdel Maqsud, who was tried in his absence because he is overseas, was information minister in Morsi's government.

He was sentenced along with another official from state television
... and if you can't believe state television who can you believe?
. The pair were also fined 3.5 million Egyptian pounds ($500,000, 400,000 euros), a court official said.

The two defendants were found guilty of illegally benefiting from state funds and of offering the state television
... and if you can't believe state television who can you believe?
equipment for use by the satellite channel on the day of Morsi's overthrow on July 3 last year.

Prosecutors said the state television
... and if you can't believe state television who can you believe?
equipment was later reported stolen, and the court ordered the two defendants to reimburse the government an additional 3.5 million Egyptian pounds.

Egyptian media reports said the equipment was offered to Al-Jazeera

television.

The Egyptian authorities consider the Qatar
...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It sits on some really productive gas and oil deposits, which produces the highest per capita income in the world. They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates...
i channel as the mouthpiece of Morsi's Moslem Brüderbund movement, accusing it of biased reporting on the Islamist's ouster which came after mass street protests against his one-year rule.

Morsi was tossed by then army chief and now President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, and since then the government has launched a brutal crackdown against his supporters.

At least 1,400 people have been killed and thousands imprisoned.

Morsi and his aides are facing several trials and could face the death sentence if convicted.

31 Dead as Double Bombing Rocks Nigeria City
[AnNahar] At least 31 people were killed in a double bombing in the Nigerian city of Jos on Thursday.

The blasts in Jos happened at a makeshift market near the Terminus bus station, which had been set up after a twin car kaboom in May that left at least 118 people dead.

Mohammed Abdulsalam, coordinator for the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) in the city, said the scene of the attack was a densely populated area.

"The bodies recovered so far are 31 but rescue workers are at the scene and the figures may change," added Pam Ayuba, front man for the Plateau state governor Jonah Jang.

The city, which is the capital of Plateau, lies in Nigeria's "Middle Belt" where the mainly Moslem north meets the mostly Christian south.

It has been targeted by Boko Haram
... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
Islamists in the past but is also a hotbed of ethnic and sectarian tensions that frequently boil over into deadly violence.

Boko Haram has increasingly used women as jacket wallahs in attacks ranging from Borno state in the far northeast to Niger to the northwest..

Security analysts have seen the use of women -- whether voluntarily and ideologically motivated or coerced -- as a sign that Boko Haram wants to sow fear and terror further afield.

The military has reported the seizure of several towns captured in recent months and also successful operations that have left dozens of Islamist fighters dead.

But in a sign of the scale of the task -- and the need to provide better security everywhere in the remote region -- a local government official said 11 people were killed by gunnies in the town of Gajiganna in Borno state.

"The Death Eaters also injured (several) people and set on fire every single house in the village," said Zarami Kolo.

Gajiganna has large markets that attract traders from across Borno state as well as from neighboring Chad and Cameroon
...a long, narrow country that fills the space between Nigeria and Chad on the northeast, CAR to the southeast. Prior to incursions by Boko Haram nothing ever happened there...

Nigerian girl, 13, arrested wearing explosives vest
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Nigerian police incarcerated
Drop the rosco, Muggsy, or you're one with the ages!
a 13-year-old girl wearing an explosives-packed vest in the northern city of Kano hours after an attack by two female jacket wallahs, a security source and a witness said Thursday.

The girl turned up at a clinic on the outskirts of Kano hours after a double bombing at a market in the city.

"The people there called the attention of security personnel who found explosives primed for a suicide kaboom on her," said the security source, who requested anonymity, in an account confirmed by a nurse at the clinic.

Meanwhile,
...back at the game, the Babe headed for second base. He almost made it. Then Sheila slapped him....
twin kabooms hit a market in the central Nigerian city of Jos on Thursday, near the site where a similar attack killed at least 118 people in May, the rescue agency told AFP.

"It is a twin bombing... near where the bombing in May occurred," Mohammed Abdulsalam of the National Emergency Management Agency said, referring to the Terminus Market area of the religiously divided city.

There was no immediate word on casualties but Abdulsalam said the toll may be low as the area was not busy at the time of the blasts, which went off shortly after 6:00 pm (1700 GMT).

snuffies have been killed in a fierce exchange of fire with Nigerian army forces in the country's northeastern state of Borno.

Nigeria's Defense Ministry confirmed the news on Tuesday, saying that the deaths came during festivities between the country's soldiers and the forces of Evil in the Balmo, Lame and Hildi forests in Borno State.

However,
a good lie finds more believers than a bad truth...
it did not mention when the fighting took place.

According to the ministry, "Motorcycles, hundreds of rounds of ammunition and bows and arrows were recovered from the fleeing terrorists."

The ministry also said that the army recently retook the towns of Mubi in Adamawa and Ashaka in Gombe from the Lion of Islams.

In recent months, Boko Haram has been establishing its grip on northeastern Nigeria, capturing the towns of Gwoza, Damask, Bama, Gamboru-Ngala, Dikwa, Mafa as well as some surrounding villages, all in Borno State.

Seven in court for ‘Boko Haram’ gang murder
[CITIZEN.CO.ZA] Seven men who were placed in durance vile
Maw! They're comin' to get me, Maw!
for allegedly killing an alleged gang member appeared briefly before the Ritavi Magistrates' Court, near Letaba in Limpopo on Wednesday.

The arrest came after a community member was shot and killed on Sunday night reportedly by someone believed to be part of a gang called 'Boko Haram
... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
', Letaba Herald reported.

The so-called 'Boko Haram' gang reportedly consists of members as young as 16 and was said to be terrorising Dan Village, outside Tzaneen, as well as other nearby areas.

Angry community members allegedly killed a 'Boko Haram' member after the death of a resident who was reportedly murdered by the gang.

The alleged gang member's body was found hanged close to a local high school on Monday morning.

The men were remanded in jug and will appear in court again on December 17.

In November, eight people were arrested after a mob killed a youth suspected of house robbery in Protea Glen, Soweto.

The mob allegedly went to the boy's home and took him to a resident's house where he was assaulted.

The teenager was later taken to hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.

Arabia
Three IS 'Supporters' Arrested for Shooting Dane in Saudi
[AnNahar] Three supporters of the Islamic State group in Saudi Arabia have been arrested for shooting and wounding a Danish citizen last month, the interior ministry said on Thursday.

"The perpetrators of this vile attack, three Saudis, have been arrested," ministry spokesman General Mansour al-Turki said in a statement carried by the official Saudi Press Agency. He said they "perpetrated their crime in support of the terrorist group Daesh", using the Arabic acronym for IS.

The victim "was injured in the shoulder and chest," Turki said.

"Security was able to find the weapon used, which was a pistol (Glock) and the car used in the attack, as forensic evidence." Turki added that the suspects "trained for two weeks" before the attack.

Denmark has confirmed that one of its nationals was shot and wounded in the Saudi capital Riyadh on November 22.

Last week an IS-linked media group released a video claiming to show the shooting of a Danish citizen by its "supporters" in Saudi Arabia, U.S.-based monitoring group SITE said. The video shows an individual shooting from the backseat window of a vehicle at the driver of a white car on a highway in a desert area. It identifies the driver of the white car as Danish citizen "Thomas Hopner."

Officials in Saudi Arabia have not identified the victim.

The Dane was driving away from work at a company in Riyadh's Al-Kharj Road area when he was shot, SPA reported.

Authorities have arrested the alleged gunmen, driver and videographer, Turki said.

A week after the incident, someone stabbed and wounded a Canadian while he shopped at a mall in Dhahran on Saudi Arabia's Gulf coast.

Several Westerners were killed in Saudi Arabia in a wave of Al-Qaida violence between 2003 and 2007.

The latest arrests come as Saudi Arabia -- along with several other Arab countries -- takes part in US-led air strikes against IS in Syria. Canada and Denmark are among Western states taking part in a similar aerial bombing campaign against IS in Iraq.

In November, Saudi Arabia blamed IS-linked suspects for the killing of seven Shiites, including children, in Eastern Province.

The video claiming that IS supporters attacked the Dane also carried an audio recording, allegedly of IS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, saying that Saudi rulers will see "no more security or rest".

Britain
UK Court Jails Woman who Promoted Jihad on Social Media
[AnNahar] A British mother of six who hoped one of her sons would become a jihadist was on Thursday enjugged
Maw! They're comin' to get me, Maw!
for five years and three months after she used social media to encourage acts of terror in Syria.

Runa Khan, from Luton in southeast England, admitted four charges of disseminating terrorist publications between July and September 2013 after sending Facebook posts containing a picture of a boom jacket with the words "sacrifice your life to be in Islam."

She also described how fighters could gain entry into Syria, adding: "Sisters, if you love your sons, husbands and brothers, prove it by sending them to fight for Allah.

"Don't you want them to enter Jannah (paradise).

"Don't you want them to prepare for you a palace in Jannah."

The jury at Kingston Crown Court in southwest London also heard that the 35-year-old had a photo on her mobile phone of her two-year-old son with a toy rifle and a jihadist book.

They heard that she had praised an article on how to prepare young children for jihad.

"Don't underestimate the lasting effects of what those little ears take in during the first few years of life!" said the article. "No child is ever too young to be started off on jihad training in one form or another."

She posted another message reading: "Zipping up my 8 year old boys jacket as he wants to play outside for a bit. I pictured the future while I was zipping up his jacket, in sha Allah ill be tying the shahada bandana round his forehead and hand him his rifle and send him out to play the big boys game. Allahu Akbar."

Judge Peter Birts said a custodial sentence was inevitable given the "utmost gravitas" of the charges.

Commander Richard Walton, Head of the Metropolitan Police's Counter Terrorism Command said: "This is a case of social media being used as a tool for terrorism. Khan used it to spread extremism, radicalize others and justify children being used for terrorism.

"We aim to make the Internet a more hostile environment for terrorists; today's sentence supports that aim."

Europe
Moldova Arrests Gang Suspected of Smuggling Uranium from Russia
[AnNahar] Moldova has detained seven people suspected of smuggling uranium-238 on a passenger train from Russia, a highly radioactive substance that can be used to make a dirty bomb, Interpol said on Thursday.

After a nearly year-long investigation, Moldovan police also seized 200 grams (7 ounces) of uranium-238, one kilogram (2.2 pounds) of mercury and 1 kg of "an unidentified radioactive material," Interpol said in a statement.

"The uranium, smuggled into the country by train, has a value of 1.6 million euros ($2 million)," the statement said.

"The radioactive substance can be used in the production of dirty bombs, which could cause massive destruction in the hands of a terrorist group."

The sting operation was carried out in the capital Chisinau and two other towns in cooperation with Interpol and the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation.

The tossed in the clink
I ain't sayin' nuttin' widdout me mout'piece!
suspects, aged between 32 and 75, belonged to a criminal ring and had knowledge of radioactive substances, the global police organization said.

While radioactive uranium-238 is not suitable for a nuclear weapon, it can be used to make a dirty bomb, a conventional explosive that contains radioactive material.

Moldovan police said earlier this week they believed uranium-238 had been brought to Moldova from Russia on a regular passenger train.

Authorities nabbed the gang after an undercover policeman bought five grams of a suspicious substance for $15,000 last week.

The substance turned out to be radioactive uranium-238.

The police are still looking for four other people linked to the investigation.

Shots Near Israeli Embassy In Athens: Police
[IsraelTimes] ATHENS, Greece -- Police in Greece early on Friday were investigating a strafing attack on the Israeli embassy in Athens in which nobody was injured, a police source said. The shots were apparently fired from a cycle of violence with two persons passing in front of the embassy, which lies on the corner of a busy highway, the police said.

Another two persons on a second cycle of violence are suspected of participating in the 3:20 am attack.

Early evidence suggests a Kalashnikov assault rifle was used, the police said. Bullet casings collected from the scene are to be examined by Greece's anti-terrorist squad for possible matches to other attacks, the police said.

There is strong condemnation in Greece of Israel's policies in the West Bank and Gazoo, with many protests held in support of the Paleostinians.

Embassies and diplomatic vehicles in Greece have been targeted in attacks by far-left groups in recent years. The residence of the German ambassador in Athens has been hit twice with two assault rifles in 2013 and a rocket in 1999. Nobody inside was hurt. In 2007, another rocket was fired at the US embassy in Athens without injuring anyone. All three attacks were claimed by far-left groups, two of which have since been dismantled by the police.

The group involved in the 2013 attack on the German residence, the People's Fighter Group, is still on the lam.

The Jamaat's objectives are the establishment of a pure Islamic state, governed by Sharia law. It is distinguished by its xenophobia, and its opposition to Westernization, capitalism, socialism, secularism, and liberalist social mores...
activist was rubbed out while resisting a robbery bid in Orangi Town on Wednesday, police said, but the JI claimed that its worker was targeted for political reasons.

"Apparently 27-year-old Shayan Yunus was killed by robbers outside his home for putting up resistance to robbers," said Bloody Karachi

The officer added that if the party had any information about the motive for the murder other than robbery, they did not share it with the police.

However,

the JI spokesperson in a statement said that the victim was killed by 'terrorists'.

Iqbal Market police SHO Ghulam Rasool Rajpar said that Shayan was standing outside his home in Sector-11 ½ when armed motorcyclists tried to snatch a mobile phone from him. When he put up resistance, the suspects opened fire on him and fled without taking anything from him. He sustained critical wounds and died during treatment in hospital.

Later, JI workers and the dear departed's relatives blocked main Shahrah-e-Orangi in a protest, where vehicular traffic was suspended for a considerable period of time.

The Sindh JI chief, Dr Meraj-ul-Huda, led his funeral prayers on Shahrah-e-Orangi and later on speaking to the workers, he asked the Sindh government to arrest the culprits within 24 hours, or otherwise, the party would be compelled to take what he described as an 'extreme action'.

Missing city lawyer reportedly hiding in North Waziristan
[DAWN] City lawyer Zaheer Ahmed Gondal, missing for almost 18 months, had links with terrorist organizations and currently is in North Wazoo, the Rawalpindi police reported to the Supreme Court on Wednesday.

"Therefore the case of Zaheer Gondal does not fall in the category of enforced disappearance," said the report submitted to the apex court on behalf of City Police Officer (CPO) Humayun Bashir Tarar.

Zaheer Gondal's case cropped up during a suo motu
...a legal term, from the Latin. Roughly translated it means I saw what you did, you bastard...
hearing in the Supreme Court of the March 3 terrorist attack on district courts complex in F-8 sector of Islamabad this year in which 11 people including an additional sessions judge were killed.

After receiving the police report, Chief Justice Nasirul Mulk, heading the three-judge bench seized with the issue, separated the case of Zaheer Gondal and set it for hearing on Jan 13, 2015.

Zaheer Gondal's alleged kidnapping by unidentified persons from Rawalpindi in July 2013 had also come up before a bench headed by the former Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry in October 2013 when the Punjab government had told the court that the cellular data recovery (CDR) of the missing person led the police to a safe house owned by the ISI.

In the report the police explained that the ground check of the missing lawyer and his family history revealed that he, and his brother Tanveer Gondal, had links with terrorist organizations.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Report: ISIL to Release Hostage ahead of Holidays as Goodwill Gesture
[AnNahar] The relatives of kidnapped soldiers and coppers were informed by an international side that the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
of Iraq and the Levant group is ready to release a hostage before the holidays as a goodwill gesture.
Or perhaps not... The nice thing about promised is that they raise hopes, which can then be dashed by deciding not to. This reinforces who is ruling, and who is ruled.
According to Ad Diyar newspaper published on Thursday, the relatives said that ISIL's initiative is to press the Lebanese state to change its maneuvers and its techniques in dealing with the abduction ordeal.

Health Minister Wael Abou Faour, who has been highly informed on the case, expressed hope in comments published in the daily that Progressive Socialist Party leader MP Walid ?Jumblat wouldn't ask him to reveal all the aspects of the case.?

Abou Faour continuously headed to the protest camp of the relatives of the captives in Beirut's Riad Solh Square and persuaded them to open roads, vowing that the state will resolve the hostage crisis.

Sources close to the negotiations with the jihadists told the newspaper that the cabinet didn't receive yet any serious pledge from ISIL or the al-Qaeda-affiliate al-Nusra
...the current nom de guerre of al-Qaeda in the Levant, which isn't to be confused with al-Qaeda in Iraq and the Levant...
Front that they will not harm any soldier or policeman.

The comments come a day after Salafist holy man Sheikh Salem al-Rafehi revealed that he urged Islamist bad boy Anas Sharkas, who is also known as Abu Ali al-Shishani, not to harm any of the remaining captive servicemen in his custody.

Rafehi said that Shishani telephoned him to thank him for the effort exerted by the Moslem Scholars Committee over the case of his wife Ola al-Oqaili.

The relatives of the kidnapped soldiers and coppers called on Monday on the Moslem Scholars Committee to play a bigger role in the negotiations after Qatar
...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It sits on some really productive gas and oil deposits, which produces the highest per capita income in the world. They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates...
withdrew from the case on Sunday.

However,
death is not the end. There remains the litigation over the estate...
the committee filed a request to be officially tasked by the state to follow up the case.

The committee is touring Lebanese officials to press negotiations forward.

The security force members were captured when the jihadists briefly overran Arsal in August, sparking fierce battles with Lebanese troops.

Four have been executed so far, and the jihadists have threatened to kill the remaining hostages unless there is a deal to free Islamist prisoners in Leb.

Syrian al-Qaeda using UN cars to conduct terror operations
[Ynet] Syrian opposition sources say al-Qaeda-linked Syrian rebels, known as the Al-Nusra
...the current nom de guerre of al-Qaeda in the Levant, which isn't to be confused with al-Qaeda in Iraq and the Levant...
Front, have taken over areas along the Israeli-Syrian border and have recently been spotted using UN cars to conduct terror operations.

According to the sources, the Al-Nusra Front has seized large swaths of the southern Golan Heights and has used UN cars during attacks against Assad?s army near the city of Daraa in southwestern Syria - a worrying sign of the capabilities of the Syrian al-Qaeda branch.

The Syrian opposition sources claimed the use of the UN vehicles was part of a double car kaboom attack. The terrorist behind the attack, Abu Khattab al-Muhajir, was able to exit the vehicle before it went kaboom!.

The UN car was the second of the two vehicles to explode and led to the deaths of two of Assad?s men who were not killed from the first kaboom.

The al-Nusra
...formally Jabhat an-Nusrah li-Ahli sh-Sham (Support Front for the People of the Levant), also known as al-Qaeda in the Levant. They aim to establish a pan-Arab caliphate. Not the same one as the Islamic State, though .. ...
Front uploaded photos documenting the attack to their Twitter account on Wednesday. The photos depict the major-general of the group, Abu G'libib, wiring the explosives himself.
Photos and video can be seen at the link.
The photographs depicting the usage of the UN car were also aired by state television
... and if you can't believe state television who can you believe?
of the Assad regime.

The UN responded to the attack and said, "using UN equipment by Jabhat al-Nusra to carry out terrorist acts is unacceptable."

In recent weeks, difficult battles have broken out between the rebels and Assad?s army near the city of al-Sheikh Meskin located in the southern suburbs of Daraa where the attack using the UN vehicles took place.

According to the Al Akhbar newspaper, which identifies with Hezbollah, the city of al-Sheikh Meskin is considered to be a red line for the Assad regime, which cannot allow itself to lose control of the city as it threatens a loss of control to the main road that leads from the capital of Damascus to the south.

If Assad?s regime would lose control in al-Sheikh Meskin, it could be disconnected from its supply line reaching Daraa.

Black flag
Concern of an impending vehicle attack arose in recent months after photos released in September 2014 showed a UNDOF peacekeeping vehicle in the Golan with a black flag representing al-Qaeda and the Al-Nusra front raised on top.

The flag was taken as a sign that the vehicle?s drivers had been taken captive or killed by the extreme Jihadists.

Around the same time, members of the Al-Nusra Front were seen near abandoned cars in the surrounding area of Quneitra, close to the time the terror organization had succeeded in taking over the Quneitra Crossing from Assad?s army.

After conquering the crossing, the Al-Nusra Front kidnapped 44 UN peacekeepers from the Philippines. Dozens of the UN forces were able to escape yet this was not the first time that UN peacekeepers had been kidnapped by gunnies near the Israeli-Syrian border.

'Stronger than Ever' Jihadists Kill 5,042 in a Month
[AnNahar] Jihadist attacks around the world in November killed a total of 5,042 people, showing Islamist extremism is "stronger than ever" despite al-Qaeda's declining role, a new study published on Thursday said.

There were 664 attacks in 14 countries during the month, according to the joint report by the BBC World Service and the International Centre for the Study of Radicalisation (ICSR) at King's College London.

The research found Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
jihadists in Iraq and Syria were responsible for around half of the violence -- 308 attacks responsible for 2,206 deaths.

"The data makes it clear that jihadists and al-Qaeda are no longer one and the same," the report said.

It said that 60 percent of the killing was done by groups with no formal association with al-Qaeda, pointing to "an increasingly ambitious, complex, sophisticated and far-reaching movement".

"It seems obvious that the jihadist movement... (is) stronger than ever and that countering (it) will be a generational challenge," the research said.

The worst-affected country was Iraq -- where deaths accounted for around a third of the monthly total -- followed by Nigeria, Afghanistan and Syria.

The study is the first of its kind and could not be compared to previous monthly statistics.
