[An Nahar] A Russian woman on the run over unpaid debts has changed sex in an apparent attempt to avoid paying them back -- but is still liable for the money, bailiffs said Monday.
"The debtor changed gender to try to escape liabilities," the press service of the bailiff service of the southern Astrakhan region said in a statement.
The 38-year-old woman, named only as Natalya, changed sex to become a man named Andrian after building up debts of around 130,000 rubles ($3,745), a spokeswoman for the bailiffs told Agence La Belle France Presse.
"During our investigation, we found out that the woman doesn't exist anymore, and now a man exists," said Yevgenia Zarynsh.
After changing gender, the man received a new passport with different details which he used as ID to secure new loans, bailiffs said.
But even such a drastic measure would not cancel the debts Andrian acquired as a woman, Zarynsh said.
"He will be liable all the same, despite the gender change. It's futile. He'll still have to pay them back. If a debtor thinks he can escape that way, he's very much mistaken," said the spokeswoman.
As a man Andrian has now built up new debts -- this time unpaid taxes, Zarynsh added. He is still on the run.

Some things aren't worth it. This is one of them.

Besoeker, you have a way of finding silver linings. I saw a picture of a male dog up for adoption. The dog was awaiting neutering. He had a worried look on his face.
A British woman said her phobia of newspapers is so powerful she finds it difficult even to look at them.
Diane Freelove, 49, of Rochester, England, said she has suffered from chloephobia, the fear of newspapers, for about 25 years and she can't stand the look, smell or touch of a newspaper, the Mirror reported Tuesday.
"When I visit a shop I walk as far away as I can from the newsstand," Freelove said. "I can't go anywhere near someone who has got one, and if they approach me, I freak out. At one time I could touch a newspaper as long as I knew I could wash my hands thoroughly afterwards. But now I can't even look at them.
"I don't like the feel of them -- if I touch a newspaper it feels like my skin is crawling. And I can't stand the smell, which I think is quite strong and distinctive," she said.
Freelove said the fear probably started in her childhood.
"When I was a child, my mother hit my father over the head with a newspaper. She did it in a playful, friendly way, but it worried me," she said. "I became afraid of newspapers over the past 25 years."

The British tabloids do the same thing to me...
The Weather Channel, so there is no political (AGW) commentary. The snow and ice skipped over the Dallas area - this time - and hit Austin. Houston had ice a few days ago.

"Climate change." Grrrrrr! %$&@. The climate change advocates would say climate change causes hemorrhoids. The new religion replete with a devil called "climate change" to explain all the evils of the world (and to separate you from your money).

Much depends on a locality's level of awareness & depth of experience. Naturally warmer areas will fumble during severe winter weather.
I moved to OH from NM in the fall of 1976, and was soon caught up in the worst winter of my lifetime. The winter which followed was even worse. People commuting from one side of Akron to the other got stuck in whiteouts and died when they tried to walk a few blocks for help. Some victims did not even have a jacket on when they left their homes. Experiences like these will change how regions respond to weather predictions. The infamous 1978 "winter hurricane" which paralyzed the midwest, particularly Ohio, was mitigated by experiences gained the winter before, e.g. the mayor of Akron banned non-emergency private traffic altogether. This kept cars from blocking roads when they got stuck or broke down, so that police, fire, paramedics, delivery trucks and public transit continued to operate under the worst tolerable conditions. Essential services in Akron continued to work, so that hospitals were staffed, and electric linesmen were not obstructed by traffic jams. Lack of experience accounts for bad judgment.

It was a balmy 42F when I went to work this morning (Seattle area) - didn't even have ice on the windshield. Of course it's cloudy and gloomy here - but that normal for this area.

The underlying premise of GWCC + any so-called "Mini-Ice Age", which I like to call the "Great/Mighty Asia-Pacific Slushy" is that the latter is but an INTERIM BURP in the Sun being expected to heat up in coming years or decades.
WID MUCHO PERT UNCERTAINTY + DEBATE AS TO WHETHER IT MEANS THE SUN WILL GO INTO SUDDEN-VS-NEAR-VS-LONG-TERM EARLY "RED GIANT" PHASE OR OTHER.

Given the quiet Sun at what should be Solar Max, my money is on another Dalton Minimum - assuming this isn't simply the start of the next Ice Age. Winter is coming.

Watching Fox and Megan Kelley ( is that redundant?) and she was talking about Atlanta being shut down for 2 inches of snow; she could do the same story for Seattle; just change the name in the script.
Down here in Tijuana is has been 65 + all day.....really don't want to go back to the NW gray, but home and duty and all that.....
President Obamas high school pot dealer who he thanked in his yearbook for the 'good times' was beaten to death by his lover after a series of fights over flatulence and drugs, MailOnline can reveal today.
Raymond Boyer, known as 'Gay Ray' to Obama and his marijuana smoking 'Choom Gang', was bludgeoned to death with a hammer seven years after he sold the future president and his friends drugs.
His lover Andrew Devere, a male prostitute, gave police a laundry list of reasons for the killing, including that Boyer, a surfer and unemployed chef, constantly put him down, made him beg for drugs and had a habit of breaking wind in his face.

"Devere's new wife Elizabeth told MailOnline doing drugs is fine if you are rich and 'have the tools to deal with it' but not if you are poor with problems."
...now there's a girl I'm sure knows her white count...

He who once purveyed choom to the Bammer,
Later on met his doom when a hammer
Cracked his mullet toupee --
'Twas the end of Gay Ray,
And the whoring, the farting, the glamour!
[An Nahar] A Russian diplomat and his wife were stabbed in the Sudanese capital Tuesday by a man anguished by the death of his brother in violence-plagued Central African Republic, police said.
Khartoum police said the diplomat and his wife were maimed with a knife at the embassy gates, adding that their condition was "stable" without giving their names.
Embassy guards and passers-by managed to detain the suspect, who is from the Central African Republic, the statement said.
"Investigation showed that his brother was killed this morning in Bangui," the Central African capital, the police said in a statement.
Russia's charge d'affaires in Khartoum, Yury Vidakas, confirmed the incident. Asked about the condition of the victims, he told Agence La Belle France Presse: "They're OK."
The European Union ...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing... agreed last week to send up to 600 troops to back just over 3,500 African Union ...a union consisting of 53 African states, most run by dictators of one flavor or another. The only all-African state not in the AU is Morocco. Established in 2002, the AU is the successor to the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), which was even less successful... and 1,600 French soldiers already battling to end festivities between Moslem and Christian groups in the CAR.
Khartoum police said the suspect attacked the Russians in the mistaken belief that troops from their country had killed his brother.

[Breitbart] Breitbart News has learned that the Tea Party movement will celebrate its five-year anniversary with a blockbuster event on February 27 in Washington, D.C. that will bring together Tea Party conservatives in Congress with local activists and movement leaders from across the nation.
The event will be held at the Hyatt Regency Capitol Hill from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM EST on February 27.

The White House says the president is unaware of the tea parties and will hold his own event today, ABCs Dan Harris said on Good Morning America on April 15 (2009).
[DAWN] The family of a mentally ill British man sentenced to death in Pakistain for blasphemy has urged London to intervene to seek his release.
Mohammad Asghar was sentenced by a court in Rawalpindi, near the capital Islamabad, last week for writing letters claiming to be a prophet.
The special court inside Rawalpindi's Adiyala Jail, where Asghar is being held, rejected defence claims that Asghar has mental health problems.
But a statement from the British charity Reprieve, which is helping Asghar's family, said the 69-year-old was detained by authorities in Scotland in 2010 because of mental problems and diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia.
"We are really upset and concerned that they will never release him and that he will die in jail. He has already attempted suicide unsuccessfully," Asghar's family said in the statement released on Monday.
"We just want him back home where hopefully he can be treated for and recover from his mental illness.
"We urge the British Government to intervene and bring him home to us where he will be safe."
Blasphemy is an extremely sensitive issue in Pakistain, where 97 per cent of the population is Mohammedan and insulting the Holy Prophet (PTUI!) can carry the death penalty.
But the country has had a de facto moratorium on civilian hangings since 2008. Only one person has been executed since then, a soldier convicted by court martial.
Rights groups say the tough blasphemy laws are frequently abused to settle personal scores.
The family says the allegations against Asghar stem from a property dispute with one of his tenants.
Reprieve also complained that Asghar's legal team had been denied access to him since his conviction.

[Egypt Independent] Thailand's government wants controversial elections to go ahead this weekend, a deputy prime minister said Tuesday, despite threats by opposition protesters to disrupt the polls to stop the ruling party returning to power.
Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra began talks with election officials who want to delay the vote following street violence in which at least 10 people have been killed and hundreds injured in grenade attacks, drive-by shootings and festivities.
In the latest incident, shots were fired Tuesday near the Bangkok army base where Yingluck was holding meetings, as hundreds of protesters massed outside.
Emergency services said two people were maimed although the exact circumstances were not immediately clear.
The Thai capital has been shaken by nearly three months of mass street demonstrations, demanding Yingluck's elected government step down to make way for an unelected "people's council" that would oversee reforms aimed at curbing the dominance of her billionaire family.
