Militant cell busted and hit-list seized in Benghazi raid
[Libya Herald] Benghazi's Saiqa Special Forces captured four members of a Death Eater Islamic cell in a raid on a farm last night, where a hit-list was discovered.

One Special Forces member was killed it the operation. A source close to Special Forces told the Libya Herald that the raid, on a farm in Benghazi's Hawari district, took place during Friday prayers. He added that the operation lasted around an hour, as the forces of Evil used force in an attempt to resist capture. One member of the Special Forces unit, who has been identified as Moataz Husaain Braydan Ellwati, was killed during the ensuing firefight.

Radio presenter survives assassination attempt
[Libya Herald] A popular radio broadcaster, and former front man for the Benghazi Joint Security Room, survived an liquidation attempt in Benghazi this morning.

Colonel Abdullah Zaidi was repeatedly shot in Benghazi's Garyounis area, near the tourist village complex on the western outskirts of the city. He was rushed to one of Benghazi's hospitals where he is now being treated for gunshot wounds.

Zaidi reportedly has bullet wounds to the neck, hand and stomach, but a hospital source told the Libya Herald that he was in a stable condition.

Since the revolution, Zaidi has been the host of a popular daily talk-show called 'Fazaat Libya,' which tackles a different topic every day.

Zaidi said on his programme that he had been repeatedly threatened, but insisted that he was not afraid and would not let such threats stop him from broadcasting.

Sebha quiet as army forces take control
[Libya Herald] As Libyan Army forces take control of the southern town of Sebha, the situation in the town today is quiet.

"Although some areas remain dangerous, and there are risks posed by snipers, the army is now in control of most parts of the city," Sebha's military commander Mohammed Al-Busaify told the Libya Herald. He added that some neighbourhoods remained no-go areas for the moment.

He denied that more army troops had arrived in Sebha yesterday, as reported by Libyan news agency LANA. Busaify said it was local army forces who had so far managed to secure parts of the town, without the help of supporting units from the north of the country, which had been promised by the government.

The Tamenhint airbase also remained in the hands of Qadaffy loyalists, Busaify said.

Spokesman for the General Chief of Staff Ali Alshaikhi, told this paper that the Libyan Air Force continued to conduct daily operations, flying low over Sebha and a wide surrounding area. He said, however, that locating targets remained a difficult task. The Air Force was now operating out of a military airbase at Jufra, he added.

Head of Sebha local council, Ayoub Alzaroug said that the town was urgently in need of vital supplies, including food and fuel. Normal life for local residents had been completely disrupted, he added.

Security disperses protests by Brotherhood, liberals all over Egypt
[Egypt Independent] Security forces dispersed a protest by opponents of the interim government that set off from Mostafa Mahmoud Mosque in Mohandessin, Giza, forcing the demonstrators to flee into sub-streets.

Pro-Sisi and pro-army protesters also clashed with the protesters.

Security sources have said that 291 Moslem Brüderbund supporters have been placed in durance vile

in Cairo, alleging carrying fireworks and Molotov cocktails.

Meanwhile,
...back at the cheese factory, all the pieces finally fell together in Fluffy's mind...
Mostafa al-Hagary, a member of the April 6 Youth Movement, has called on protesters to ensure the march is not infiltrated by Moslem Brüderbund backers.

In Haram, also in Giza, police quelled a demonstration by Moslem Brüderbund members, which led to an unidentified number of injuries.

In Nasr City, police dispersed Moslem Brüderbund loyalists with tear gas at Makram Ebeid Street after they chanted anti-military slogans and pelted the forces with stones.

Other festivities occurred in Helwan, south of Cairo, after Brotherhood loyalists set on protests from three mosques where marchers hurled stones at molotovs at the forces, who replied with tear gas. Store owners closed their business for fear of damage, while security was intensified presence at courts, churches, banks, cop shoppes and banks.

Security arrest Brotherhood backers in east and west of Alexandria after breaking up seven marches with tear gas. Three supposedly affiliated with the Brotherhood shot on the forces from rooftops at Abu Suleiman neighborhood, holding three citizens hostages.

While the Moslem Brüderbund-led National Alliance to Support Legitimacy announced protests taking off from 35 mosques in Cairo and Giza, demanding the reinstatement of deposed president Mohammed Morsy, other liberal forces said they would mark the third anniversary of the 2011 revolution that overthrew Morsy's predecessor Hosni Mubarak
...The former President-for-Life of Egypt, dumped by popular demand in early 2011...

Other groups said they would mark the occasion by declaring support for Defense Minister Abdel Fattah al-Sisi who ousted Morsy last year.

Kidnappers of diplomats give Egypt 24 hours to release LROR head
[Libya Herald] The kidnappers of five Egyptian diplomatic staff who were kidnapped last night and this morning, tonight gave the Egyptian government 24 hours to release the nabbed

The kidnappers phoned the Arab news channel Al-Arabiya this evening and put several of the Egyptian diplomatic staff on the line. They gave their names and ages, and confirmed they had been taken from their homes in Tripoli

.

One of the kidnappers then told the presenter that their demand was the immediate release of LROR head Shaban hadia Al-Zway, who was arrested in Alexandria on Friday night. Egyptian media have said that Zway was arrested on suspicion of being affiliated with Al-Qaeda and for possession of foreign currencies, documents and CDs.

The kidnapper said that the group would give the Egyptian government twenty-four hours to release Zway, before the line went dead.

After the call, the presenter called the front man for the Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Badr Abdulaati, who said that Zway was being held while investigations were ongoing. "If he is found to be innocent, he will be released, otherwise he will be put on trial," Abdulaati said. "We are a country of law and we are treating him very well and with respect."

He said that the Egyptian authorities had not had any contact with the kidnappers. They were working only with the Libyan government, Abdulaati said, and had spoken to Prime Minister Ali Zeidan

More Egyptian diplomatic staff seized in Tripoli, embassy prepares to evacuate
[Libya Herald] Four more staff members from the Egyptian embassy in Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
have been kidnapped, following the abduction of a man understood to be the embassy's administrative attaché last night.

Spokesman for the Libyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Said Al-Asoud, told the Libya Herald that, at dawn this morning, the cultural attaché and three employees from the Egyptian cultural centre were taken.

The Egyptian ambassador to Libya, Hesham Abdel-Wahab, confirmed that five members of staff from the embassy had been kidnapped. He said one of the kidnapped men had telephoned the embassy and confirmed that all five kidnapped men, who were taken individually, were being held together and were in good health.

The rest of the diplomatic team would leave Libya today, Abdel-Wahab said, adding the the Egyptian government was sending a specially-chartered plane for their evacuation.

The kidnappings are believed to be in retaliation for the arrest in Egypt on Friday of the head of the Libyan Revolutionaries Operation Room (LROR), Shaaban Masoud Khalifa, also known as Abu Obaida Al-Zawy. "Now the Egyptian government is dealing with the situation and negotiating with Tripoli's LROR," Abdel-Wahab said.

Mexican Militias Hail Arrest Of Cartel Capo
[LatinAmericanHeraldTribune] The armed vigilante groups that arose to defend communities in the western Mexican state of Michoacan from the depredations of a powerful narco mob voiced satisfaction Monday over the arrest of one of the gang's leaders.

Jesus Vasquez, alias "El Toro", considered one of the seven capos of the Caballeros Templarios (Knights Templar), was among 38 criminals apprehended in a joint police-military operation in Michoacan, federal authorities said Sunday.

"We're pleased by his arrest, he's one of the people who did the most harm to society, above all in Tepalcatepec, where he was boss of the territory," militia leader Hipolito Mora told MVS radio.

Vasquez is on the list of the seven top Templar kingpins whose arrest was demanded by self-defense militias as a condition for handing over their arms to federal authorities and going back to the communities they came from.

The prisoner is responsible for kidnappings, murders and extortions, Mora said.

Mora asked the federal government to keep working as it is doing now and acknowledged that "there is more peace" today in the Tierra Caliente region, which straddles Michoacan, Guerrero and Mexico states.

The Mexican government launched a widespread operation last week to restore order in the region, the scene of armed festivities between the Caballeros Templarios and self-defense vigilante groups.

Federal forces "are doing well... I'm sure they're going to catch the rest" of the Templarios leaders, Mora said.

The offensive began with attempts by soldiers and Federal Police to disarm the vigilante groups, but after an incident where four non-combatants were killed, the national government changed tack.

About the self-defense vigilantes' cooperation with federal authorities, Mora said they are "giving them information about where to find those thieves and murderers."

Only a few vigilantes are still carrying weapons and all the guns will be handed over when order is restored and all the Templarios kingpins are under arrest, he said.

12 terrorists killed in Xinjiang attack
[GLOBALTIMES.CN] Police in Northwest China's Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region on Friday rubbed out six attackers, while another six died in an kaboom, local authorities revealed Saturday.

Two kabooms took place in a beauty salon and a grocery market in Xinhe county, Aksu prefecture at around 6:40 pm Friday. A group of terrorist suspects threw explosives at police, who were making arrests, and police opened fire and bumped off six, the Xinjiang government announced on its official website ts.cn.

Six other suspects were killed later in an kaboom they set off themselves in their vehicle when they were surrounded by police, according to local authorities.

Police have also enjugged
Don't shoot, coppers! I'm comin' out!
five suspects. One police officer was slightly injured but no casualties were reported among the public.

A local official told the Global Times on condition of anonymity that a major suspect had been captured, and the group had two female members.

"The suspects in Xinhe were brainwashed by terrorist videos and gathered to orchestrate the attack, just like most previous attacks that have happened in Xinjiang last year," said the official.

Xinhe county is an old town located in southern Xinjiang and is home to 15 ethnic minorities including Uyghur and Kazak.

"I didn't witness the attack and many residents here don't know much about such incidents, probably because the police usually handle them quickly," Jiang Chengcheng, a businessman in Xinhe who originally came from Quanzhou, Fujian Province, told the Global Times.

A local resident who requested anonymity said that social order remained stable after the attack and people are getting used to a higher police presence. Several other residents in Aksu also said that they could sense a growing trend of violent attacks in the last couple of years, but the public could remain calm as information transparency had been improved.

Li Wei, an anti-terrorism expert with the China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations, told the Global Times that China is facing a tougher anti-terrorism challenge as the scale and frequency of attacks have been escalating.

However,
those who apply themselves too closely to little things often become incapable of great things...
Li emphasized that terrorist attacks in Xinjiang are not a problem that is endemic to the region, as almost every attack that took place there recently was linked to overseas influences.

"The increasing terrorist activities around the region, and even on a global scale, have made terrorist members of the East Turkestan Islamic Movement (ETIM) more active," said Li. He noted that the group has had more frequent exchanges of personnel and arms, and is holding exercises under real combat conditions.

Just one day before the Xinhe attack, Kyrgyz troops killed 11 snuffies near the border with China, according to the Kyrgyz border service.

The masked snuffies were spotted in Pikertyk, some 40 kilometers from the border, by camp ranger Alexander Barykin, who was killed. All the snuffies were later killed in a shootout with border guards after they refused to surrender.

Kyrgyz authorities did not exclude the possibility that they might be Uyghur separatists from Xinjiang.

The Chinese Embassy in Kyrgyzstan said the snuffies could not be identified until investigations had concluded, and they had been cooperating with the investigation.

A Xinjiang anti-terrorism official told the Global Times that the snuffies had a thorough plan, as ropes had been found in their belongings, probably to climb the high mountains on the border, and a damaged memory card in their camera indicated their sense of secrecy.

ETIM has been strengthening management in Kyrgyzstan in recent years, recruiting younger members and tightening their hierarchy in a bid to influence Uyghur groups that do not hold separatist tendencies.

With Aksu prefecture just on the other side of the Kyrgyz-Chinese border, a Xinjiang official told the Global Times that although it is not certain that the two attacks were related, it is in the common interests of China and Central Asian countries to fight against terrorism together.

"The border incident is highly threatening and authorities need to pay close attention to the identities of the attackers," said Li, adding that terrorist activities around Chinese borders are shifting from South Asia to Central Asia, which is a springboard for entering Xinjiang.

Both China and Kyrgyzstan are members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), with joint anti-terrorism efforts being imperative to China in fighting separatism, extremism and terrorism. It is also an important link for energy cooperation between China and Central Asian countries.

"The SCO efforts have been effective but bully boyz have found ways to get new camps," said Li. He added that Kyrgyzstan has weaker political stability and is easier for bully boyz to use as a base to penetrate Xinjiang.

"The intense global terrorism trend makes international cooperation very important, and China has been putting great efforts into anti-terrorism in Xinjiang," Li said.

CCO Multan Sultan Chaudhry inspected his area of residence and sought information from his relatives.

Kalru's uncle told the police that his family did not have personal enmity with anyone and that they were engaged in preparations for the upcoming local government (LG) elections.

Police suspected that a small gang-war group was responsible for the abduction.

It may be mentioned that Kalru was kidnapped from NA-151 which is the same constituency from where former prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani

Vaccination centre blown up in Swabi
[DAWN] Unknown miscreants blew up the EPI centre at the district headquarters hospital, Swabi, while the adjacent dental block and offices were partially damaged due to the kaboom and the fire that erupted afterwards here on Friday evening.

District police officer Sajjad Khan told Dawn that unknown miscreants planted an improvised bomb (IED) at the EPI (Expanded Programme on Immunisation) centre located in the DHQ hospital, which went kaboom! with a bang.

As a result, the one-room EPI centre was completely destroyed while the windowpanes and doors of others offices, including the adjacent dental block, were smashed.

Sources said that the vaccines and EPI record were also destroyed in the blast.

Local people said that soon after the blast a fire broke out in the three-room dental block which engulfed the whole building.

The firefighters and local people reached the hospital to extinguish the fire, but they could not be able to overcome it hours after the blast.

The DPO said that the personnel of bomb disposal unit were busy to determine the nature of the blast and quantity of the kaboom used.

He said that no casualties or injuries were reported as the EPI centre and dental block were closed at the time of blast in the evening.

Police sources said that the EPI centre was the apparent target of miscreants as they wanted to disrupt the ongoing anti-polio
...Poliomyelitis is a disease caused by infection with the poliovirus. Between 1840 and the 1950s, polio was a worldwide epidemic. Since the development of polio vaccines the disease has been largely wiped out in the civilized world. However, since the vaccine is known to make Moslem pee-pees shrink and renders females sterile, bookish, and unsubmissive it is not widely used by the turban and automatic weapons set...
vaccination campaign in Swabi.

Dr Yaqoob, in-charge of the polio campaign in the district, told Dawn that a three-day polio vaccination drive was launched in Swabi tehsil and other areas of the district on Friday.

He said that 50 polio teams had left the EPI centre in the morning for various localities to administer vaccines to children below five years of age.

Answering a question, he said that the vaccines and other material had been stored at the EPI centre and the damage done could impact the ongoing drive.

The DPO, however, resolved to complete the drive, adding that security would be provided to the polio teams to reach every child in the district.
