Confrontations between armed men and Alshabab in Galgadud
[Shabelle] news from El bur town in Galgadud region confirm that gunnies and Alshabab fighters fought each other early today morning.
We are assured that it is somewhere on the map... Perhaps a magnifying glass would help.
Residents have confirmed that at least 3 fighters have died during the fighting from both sides and three others sustained serious injuries.

Other sources report that 3 Shabaab fighters died during the fighting including a high ranking official known as Dega yare.

Reports add that Alshabab fighters attacked the gunnies who recently opened gunfire to a truck transporting goods.

The gunnies seized a vehicle owned by Alshabab for a while but Alshabab reclaimed the vehicle later on.

Tensions are high in the town and the surrounding areas which is now in the hands of Alshabab and the gunnies might retaliate back any time.

The confrontations came at a time when there are emerging reports of disputes between residents and Alshabab fighters in the region.

Shaboobs seize Marerey hospital after MSF pullout
BU'ALE, Somalia -- Somalia's Al Shabaab militants seized MSF funded Hospital in Marerey town of Middle Jubba region after Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) announced total pullout from Somalia last Wednesday, Garowe Online reports.

According to witnesses in Marerey, truckloads of armed militias arrived at the hospital on Thursday morning and ordered the local staffers to hand over building keys and stockpiles of drugs to Al Shabaab.

"The hospital's medical staff members were disbanded by Al Shabaab militants and they didn't tell us any reason," said one of the hospital workers who spoke to Garowe Online on condition of anonymity because of his security.

Marerey hospital had been serving as a crucial health facility for local communities in both Middle Jubba and Lower Jubba regions of southern Somalia. In addition, Marerey is an agriculture-rich town and was a home to Somalia's largest sugar cane processing factory.

The seizure of MSF controlled hospital follows a move, which reportedly paved a way the looting of MSF offices in Bay regional district of Diinsoor and the closure of Diinsoor referral hospital by Al Qaeda linked Al Shabaab group.

Car boom kills one at Mogadishu market
MOGADISHU, Somalia -– Car bomb went off inside Mogadishu’s Bakara market killing a civilian and wounding five others on Thursday according to witnesses, Garowe Online reports. Local reports added that the exploded car is owned by a well known businessman, Hussein Goley who reportedly escaped with minor injuries to his legs and he is now being treated at Madina Hospital, officials said.

“While I was passing near the scene shortly after the bomb went off, I saw the twisted wreckage of the car near Dahabshiil building and the security forces were carrying out stop and check operations,” said an eyewitness.

Security officials in Hawlwadag district of Mogadishu, say the explosion could have been caused by a bomb attached beneath the driver’s seat or landmine.

Hussein Goley is the former owner of Global money Transfer Company, which later united with the collapsed Qaran remittance company, independent sources in Mogadishu reported.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the explosion-as has been the case for much of the deadly bombings and assassinations targeting the civilians and the Somali government officials are frequently the work of Somalia’s Al Shabaab group.

Security Forces Clean Out Rebel Mosque
[HOSTED.AP.ORG] Egyptian security forces stormed a Cairo Islamic armory mosque Saturday after shooting at gunnies firing down from a turret minaret, rounding up hundreds of hard boyz supporters of the country's ousted president who skulked hid there overnight after violent festivities killed 173 people.

Security officials said officers raided the Ramses Square Islamic armory mosque out of fears the Moslem Brüderbund again planned to set up a sit-in similar to those broken up Wednesday in assaults that killed hundreds of people. The Egyptian government meanwhile announced it had begun deliberations on whether to ban the Brotherhood, a long-outlawed organization that swept to power in the country's first democratic elections a year ago.

Such a ban - which authorities say is rooted in the group's use of violence - would be a repeat to the historic and decades-long power struggle between the state and the Brotherhood. It also could provoke more unrest in Egypt following the July 3 military coup against President Mohammed Morsi, a Brotherhood member.
More unrest? More? How could you tell?
The assault on the al-Fath Mosque began overnight Friday, as pro-Morsi protesters and gunnies fled into worship center to avoid angry vigilantes and arrest. They piled furniture in the Islamic armory's mosque's entrance to block authorities and enraged anti-Morsi protesters from reaching them.

The Islamic armory mosque earlier served as a weapons depot field hospital and an ammo dump open-air morgue as a Brotherhood-called day of protests descended into violence. By daybreak Saturday, security forces and armored personnel carriers surrounded the Islamic armory mosque and it appeared that military-led negotiations might defuse the standoff.

Then gunnies took over a mosque turret minaret and aimed random opened fire on the security forces below, the state-run MENA news agency said. The crowd around the armory mosque panicked as soldiers opened fire with assault rifles, the chaos broadcast live on local television channels.

Several security officials told The News Agency that Dare Not be Named that ending the standoff at the armory mosque was essential after receiving information that the group planned to turn it into a new sit-in protest camp. They spoke on condition of anonymity in line with regulations.

#2  Seems to me that in Iraq and Afghanistan, the ROEs for US troops being fired upon from mosques were so restrictive, the jihadis knew they were perfectly safe there. Since the Egyptian troops are Muslims themselves, they are under no such BS rules.

#4  I don't know what all the fuss is about. Egypt ripped apart? I think not. This is what needs to happen. Chop the MB fighters into bits and the rest will settle down. Keep an eye on what goes on in the Islamic armories and do the same to a few of the radical imams and things will settle down further. Heck, maybe even offer a reward for recordings of any radical speeches given in the mosques and that will help, too. Hard measures for hard boyz.

Egypt's Third Army disperses Suez pro-Morsi sit-in
[Al Ahram] Egypt's Third Army dispersed a gathering of pro-Morsi protesters Friday in the Egyptian governorate of Suez.

The protesters attempted to camp out in Al-Shohada Square in Suez City after the designated curfew hours from 7pm to 9am prompting the Third Army to disperse them, according to Al-Ahram Arabic news website. The Third Army fired warning shots in the air to clear the sit-in driving Morsi loyalists to the square's side streets.

Armoured vehicles have been supplemented with ground forces to scan the area.

The square has been reopened after protesters blocked the area for most of the day by burning tires.

Moslem Brüderbund Spokesman Gehad El-Haddad said on Friday night via Twitter that protests will continue all week in what he dubbed the "departure week," in reference to the exit of what he described as coup leaders.

Egyptian military chief vows to rebuild Coptic Churches
The Egyptian defense minister has ordered the repair and reconstruction of all churches that suffered damage in the country's violent demonstrations since the Egyptian military removed President Mohamed Morsi from power last month. Defense minister Col. Gen. Abdel Fattah El-Sisi intends to fix the damage to Coptic churches at Rabaa Adaweya and Nahda squares, according to a report by the Mid-East Christian News.

Dozens of churches were attacked and burned in riots after thousands of demonstrators took to the streets of Cairo and other Egyptian cities to demand the end of what they call military rule, following the removal of Morsi on July 3. Many of Morsi's supporters have voiced criticism at Egypt's Christian minority for largely supporting the military's decision to oust him from office.

"The Egyptian defense minister ordered the engineering department of the armed forces to swiftly repair all the affected churches, in recognition of the historical and national role played by our Coptic brothers," read a statement that aired on Egyptian television.

Bishop Mousa thanked Sisi for his efforts to repair the damaged churches.

"We thank Col. Gen. Sisi for commissioning the brave Egyptian armed forces to rebuild the places of worship damaged during the recent events," Bishop Mousa said on Twitter.

The Maspero Youth Union, a Coptic Christian youth movement, says there's a "retaliation war" against the religious minority, which makes up around 10 percent of Egypt's population, according to a report by AFP.

The Egyptian Initiative for Personal Rights (EIPR), an Egyptian NGO, says at least 25 churches were torched this week, and attackers also targeted Christian schools, shops and homes across all 27 provinces.

Bangladesh
Cops on hunt for 100 jihadis
[Bangla Daily Star] Mufti Jasimuddin Rahmani, the spiritual leader of Ansarullah Bangla Team, had as many as 3,000 followers and over 100 of them believe in armed Jihad (struggle), detectives said.

"Primary investigation suggests over 100 of his [Jasim's] followers are inclined to engage in armed struggle. Some even took part in armed struggle abroad," Mashiur Rahman, additional deputy commissioner of Detective Branch, told The Daily Star yesterday.

The group even included members of banned krazed killer outfits Harkat-ul-Jihad-al Islami (HuJI
Founded in 1984 by Fazlur Rehman Khalil and Qari Saifullah Aktar. The Bangla branch was established in 1992 with assistance from Osama bin Laden. Recruits come mostly from Deobandi madrassahs. HuJI and Fazlur Rehman Khalil are signators of bin Laden's declaration of war on the west.
) and Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh, the official added without specifying any name.

"Many of them believe in armed struggle or Jihad and they are under our watch. We're trying to arrest them," said Mashiur, who is leading an investigation and operation against the Ansarullah network.

Jasim had following among different strata of the society, from hawkers to university students, the ADC said.

His followers listened to speeches of prominent al-Qaeda leaders, he said, adding that law enforcers are still unsure as to whether they had any link to the global terror outfit.

Mashiur Rahman, however, said law enforcers would be able to know about the Ansarullah network in detail once Jasimuddin is interrogated during remand.

Barguna police on Monday locked away
... anything you say can and will be used against you, whether you say it or not...
Jasimuddin along with his 30 followers when he was holding a secret meeting in the dead of night at his residence.

Police have appealed to a local court seeking a 10-day remand for the detainees. The hearing on the prayer is scheduled for August 27.

Members of Ansarullah Bangla Team allegedly criminal masterminded the killing of blogger Ahmed Rajib Haider on February 15.

The krazed killers, who follow the idealism of Anwar al-Awlaki
... Born in Las Cruces, New Mexico, zapped in Yemen, al-Awlaki was a dual citizen of the U.S. and Yemen. He was an Islamic holy man who was a trainer for al-Qaeda and its franchises. His sermons were attended by three of the 9/11 hijackers, by Fort Hood murderer Nidal Malik Hussein, and Undieboomer Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab. He was the first U.S. citizen ever placed on a CIA target list...
, "spiritual leader" of al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, have campaigned for Jihad through blogs and other online platforms.

They also wrote blog posts on how to make bombs with cheap materials available in the kitchen.

Meanwhile,
...back at the wrecked scow, a single surviver held tightly to the smashed prow...
The Daily Star found that Jasim left the job of Khatib at Hatembagh mosque in the capital's Rayerbazar two years ago as the mosque authorities under political pressure had requested him to avoid "objectionable sermons".

However,
a poor excuse is better than no excuse at all...
the mosque authorities never dared to sack Jasim as they feared reprisal from the "influential people" he could attract through his "electrifying sermons", said locals.

During his longer-than-usual oration, Jasim inspired the mosque-goers to take part in Jihad, said a number of locals, wishing anonymity.

During his sermons after the Jum'a prayers every Friday, his followers used to scream in unison, affirming that they agree to his call for Jihad.

Jasim later joined as a Khatib at a mosque located in a sparsely populated area in Basila of Mohammadpur.

It is pertinent to mention that her husband Hanif Jadoon, who also was an ANP leader, was killed along with his son and guard in a suicide kaboom in July 2011.

The ANP leader was a candidate for a provincial assembly seat reserved for women in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa
... formerly NWFP, still Terrorism Central...
. Her body has been sent to her native town in Swabi district.

ANP chief Asfandyar Wali has condemned the brutal killing saying sacrifices of Najma's family will always be remembered.

#1  First read it as "HALF GUNNED DOWN".

Considering it's Peshawar, it'd be appropriate.

Quetta Qorpse Qount
Unidentified militants killed two people and wounded 24 Friday in a gun and rocket attack on a passenger train in restive southwest Pakistan, officials said. Women and children were among the casualties in the attack, which came in Dozan area, some 35 kilometres southeast of Quetta, the main town of Baluchistan province, which is beset by separatist, Islamist and sectarian violence.

"We have taken two dead bodies and 24 injured to the hospital, the condition of most of the injured was critical because of excessive bleeding," Zubair Kurd, a local government official in the area told AFP, warning that the death toll may increase.

Kurd said the attackers were hiding in the mountains and first started firing and then fired at least three rockets at the train, which was travelling from Quetta to Rawalpindi, the twin city of Islamabad.

"They managed to escape. we have launched a search operation," Kurd added.

The attack came nine days after separatist gunmen shot dead 14 people, including three security officials in Mach area, close to Dozan. Later on August 10, Pakistani troops claimed killing eight rebels linked to that attack.
