[The Hill] The rollout of the first approved COVID-19 vaccine this week is raising questions of when the game-changing inoculations will be ready for everyday Americans.
But for communities of color, especially Black communities, that carry a deep-seated mistrust of the government, the question is if they will take the vaccine at all.
The mistrust isn’t surprising.
From the early to mid-20th century, tens of thousands of nonwhite women were sterilized by the government.
For four decades, the government ran what is known as the Tuskegee Syphilis Study in the deep South on exclusively Black men. Researchers never received informed consent from the participants, nor offered them treatment for the disease even after penicillin became the main form of treatment for syphilis. The experiment wasn’t stopped until 1972.
In 1951, doctors at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore removed tissue samples without consent from Henrietta Lacks, a Black woman who was being treated for cervical cancer. Part of the tissue sample became the first immortalized human cell line and is still widely used in cancer research today.
All of these things happened within the past 100 years and have not been easily forgotten.

It all happened too quickly. No one thought a vaccination could be developed this soon.
There was simply no time to develop an effective program of financial incentives. Once the incentives are fielded, compliance will become much easier.

People of color mistrust the federal government because of past abuses. People of color also vote Democrat so the federal government can take care of them.
Maybe lean into that mistrust a bit more consistently and things will get better.

This 'distrust the government' story seems to be one that is always floated by white leftists, and they always bring up the same things. Usually as an explanation of why it is rayciss to expect someone to provide identification when it comes to voting.
Real distrust would be accompanied by being self-sufficient, and I don't see that in a lot of 'black communities'

Reportedly, many of the poor ones deemed of subnormal intelligence or having a variety of mental health issues... or those who simply were too assertive, and so came to the attention of the authorities. Voluntary birth control was not the only tool in the arsenal of the eugenicists such as Margaret Sanger.

If nothing else, the past few months have shown conclusively that our system of justice has (irretrievably?) broken into at least two pieces, one for the favored class, another for the other.
This shall not end well for those responsible, assuming they can be touched.
[Babylon Bee] WASHINGTON, D.C.—Nancy Pelosi has announced that every $600 stimulus check will come with a free slice of cake for Americans to eat.
She made the announcement in a speech yesterday after the stimulus bill was criticized for not doing enough for the middle class. The amendment to the $900 billion stimulus bill, coupled with the reasonable $2.3 trillion spending bill for the federal government, means that in addition to getting $600 created out of thin air, each American will get a slice of chocolate cake.
"Americans have been suffering, so we need to let them eat cake," she said in front of Congress yesterday. "We closed down their businesses for the past nine months, so it's the least we can do. Really. I do mean that. The least."
Congress considered ice cream for every America, but Pelosi vetoed it as it was too expensive to give every American a $13 quart of the brand she eats. There was also talk of giving the option of vanilla cake, but that was shot down as being racist.

[And Magazine] According to Politico, Trita Parsi is Joe Biden’s pick to oversee Middle Eastern policy on the National Security Council (NSC) in a Biden administration. I can only assume this means that Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and Commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Hossein Salami both declined the position. They would be only two possible candidates who would be worse choices.
Trita Parsi is a Washington-based activist born in Iran. He founded and ran for many years a group called the National Iranian-American Council (NIAC). He is now the executive vice president and co-founder of something called the Quincy Institute for Responsible Statecraft. Parsi claims to speak on behalf of Americans of Iranian descent. In fact, his activities of show that he reliably advocates in favor of Tehran and systematically avoids any criticism of the appalling human rights record of the mullahs in Tehran. Looking more and more like Valerie and Barack's third term.
Parsi and NIAC blame the tensions with Iran on the United States and the West. NIAC demands that the United States normalize relations with Tehran. It also wants the United States to abandon all efforts to support those fighting for democracy inside Iran. Per Parsi, Iran the world's leading sponsor of terrorism, wants only to have a peaceful, productive relationship with the United States and Western powers, including Israel.
Exactly how Iran's intense desire for peace fits with its efforts to set the entire Middle East on fire, calls for the elimination of the Jewish state or the ongoing Iranian attacks on vessels in the Red Sea and Persian Gulf is, of course, unclear.
One would think that Parsi and NIAC would both be pariahs, acting as they are as transparent agents of a radical, Islamic regime. They are not. In the runup to the signing of the catastrophic Iran nuclear deal, Parsi and Seyed Mousavian, the former head of Iran's national security council, made over 33 visits to the White House to meet with senior American officials. At the time, Sahar Nowrouzzadeh, a former NIAC member, was serving as Iran Director on President Obama's NSC. Treason is as common as cockroaches in Washington D.C.
