-Short Attention Span Theater-
Pygmalian builds golem, shacks up with her
A BOFFIN too busy to find real love has INVENTED his idea of the perfect woman — a female ROBOT. Inventor Le Trung, 33, created Aiko, said to be "in her 20s" with a stunning 32, 23, 33 figure, shiny hair and delicate features. She even remembers his favourite drink and does simple cleaning and household tasks.

"Fem-bot" Aiko, who has cost £14,000 to build so far, is a whizz at maths and even does Le's accounts.

Le, a scientific genius from Brampton in Ontario, Canada, said he never had time to find a real partner so he designed one using the latest technology. He said he did not build Aiko as a sexual partner, but said she could be tweaked to become one.
Geez, make a gorgeous robot girlfriend and he can't bang her? Genius, my ass...
"Her software could be redesigned to simulate her having an orgasm and reacting to touch as if she is playing hard to get or being straight to the point," he said.

The former software programmer has taken out credit cards and loans, sold his car and spent his life savings on perfecting the machine. "I want to make her look, feel and act as human as possible so she can be the perfect companion," said Le.

The odd looking pair go out for drives together in the Canadian countryside, before sitting down at the dinner table, but Aiko never eats anything. Le said: "So far she can understand and speak 13,000 different sentences in English and Japanese, so she's already fairly intelligent. When I need to do my accounts, Aiko does all the maths. She is very patient and never complains."

The fem-bot has a touch-sensitive face and body so she reacts if shown affection or hurt. "Like a real female she will react to being touched in certain ways. If you grab or squeeze too hard she will try to slap you. She has all senses except for smell," he said.

Le, a child genius who was put in a class for talented youngsters, made his first robot when he was just eight years old. He began work on Aiko two years ago in the home he shares with his brother. But the stress of working on such a difficult project became too much for Le and he suffered a mild heart attack in November last year. "It was shocking to have a heart attack at the age of 33," he admits. "But the doctors said I'd been doing too much. I may need to have Aiko look after me one day. She doesn't need holidays, food or rest and she will work almost 24-hours a day. She is the perfect woman," he said.

"People have mixed reactions when they meet Aiko," he said. "They either love or hate her. Some people get angry and accuse me of playing God. Once someone threw a rock at Aiko. That really upset me.

"But many people are fascinated by her. Women are generally impressed and try to talk to her. But the men always want to touch her, and if they do it in the wrong way they get a slap."

Olde Tyme Religion
US Jordanian priest OK's preaching to Muslims
According to an American preacher of Jordanian origin, Christians have just as much right to preach to Muslims as Muslims have to preaching Christians, adding that he does not like the idea of interfaith dialogue and instead calls for a freedom of religion dialogue.

Reverend Emile Haddad, president and founder of the Ambassadors of Peace, an interfaith organization based in the U.S. stressed the "right of the Christian to preach his religion to his fellow Muslim and the right of the Muslim to do the same" in an interview with the TV program Ida'at (Illuminations) broadcasted weekly on AlArabiya news channel.

"In the Muslim world Evangelism has always targeted the poor, providing them with humanitarian aid for the purposes of changing their religion. The proof of this is the religion classes that are given along with food and shelter"
Egyptian Sheikh Yusuf al Badri
"Man's choice of his faith is based on a well thought out decision, not through temptation," he told AlArabiya. "Evangelization is the exchange of ideas not a means to Christianize someone's thought. It is a means of spreading peace and eradicating misconceptions amongst believers of different faiths."

Haddad further added that the idea of interfaith dialogue on its own does not yield definitive results and that the right to preach one's religion unhampered is the only guarantee for religions to coexist despite the engrained doctrinal differences between all three Abrahamic religions, such as the status of Jesus Christ in Islam and Christianity.

But Egyptian Sheikh Yusuf al Badri disagrees with Reverend Haddad. The Sheikh claims that Christian evangelism is more than a dialogue and aims to tempt non-Christians into Christianity through humanitarian means.

"Evangelism is certainly not a straight forward process. In the Muslim world Evangelism has always targeted the poor, providing them with humanitarian aid for the purposes of changing their religion. The proof of this is the religion classes that are given along with food and shelter."

The Sheikh also said that the spread of Islam in the West is not due to evangelism or active preaching on part of Muslims but of public interest in Islam

"Muslims vilify neither Christianity nor Judaism, yet the West vilifies Islam. This creates interest in the religion and you find non-Muslims eager to know what Islam is about. When a Muslim is asked about his faith, he will obviously respond and provide information."

#1  The rights of Christians to preach to Muslims have traditionally been nullified by the Muslim custom of killing infidel proselytizers and those they might convert, aka "apostates" in Muslim terminology. Evangelization has never been considered by Muslims as anything else but an attack on their religion. Ignore that elephant under the carpet.

#2  In the Muslim world only the Muslims have the right to inform others about their faith. For Christians or Jews to do the same is either to break the law or break custom so long established it may as well be the law. Thank goodness Reverend Haddad lives safely in the U.S., where no doubt he acquired such a radical idea.

Ya mean Evangelists don't threaten to cut your head off if you don't convert their religion like the Muslims do? Gosh, that's terrible.

Home Front: Culture Wars
"Day Without a Gay" fails because of bad economy - Bush's fault
SAN FRANCISCO -- A daylong work stoppage during which employees were encouraged to "call in gay" to express support for same-sex marriage drew spotty participation nationwide Wednesday, with some gay rights activists praising the concept but questioning its effect.

In San Francisco's gay Castro district, residents and merchants said they endorsed the message behind "Day Without a Gay" but didn't think a work stoppage was practical given the poor economy and the strike's organization.

"If we are going to make a huge impact and not be laughed at, then we have to take the time and make the time to communicate with all the parties. We could have shut down a lot of the hotels," said David Lang, a San Francisco gymnastics coach. "In theory it's a great idea, but it's being done wrong and now that it's been done wrong, I don't think it will be done again."

#1  The only thing this can do is show that their numbers and/or influence is less than they claim. Thus claims that the amount that followed the plan vs number that ignored the plan has to be fudged. As are the number of gays claimed to still be in the closet.

Any protest that lasts a single day is an empty gesture.

#4  This idea is just beyond stupid. The gay community did themselves no favors here.

Like DoDo said, "call in gay" makes it sound like an illness or disease which could be treated or cured. I thought the whole point of gay rights was that their lifestyle is not a choice, no more so than the hetero lifestyle is a choice?

Not smart, not smart at all.

#5  Or maybe there aren't as many gays as they thought.

Or maybe the other gays had a brain and didn't want to join a self defeating act.

Or maybe they are all just stupid.

#6  "If we are going to make a huge impact and not be laughed at,.." too late butt head.

people already laugh at you and your pitiful attempt to force your lifestyle and (lack of) values) on them.

#7  Well, here in Tennessee, calling in and not coming to work for that reason is likely to be considered self-termination of your employment. This is a at-will state and deciding to skip work for a protest of ANY kind isn't going to go over well.

Besides, from what I've learned, pretty much nobody cares if someone is gay or not, it never mattered at any of the places were I worked. Making it an issue is what really hurts them.

#8  They should have picked some Holy Day that a lot of people take off, that way they could claim those people support their cause.
Posted by: rjschwarz || 12/11/2008 16:12 Comments || Top||

#9  If I were doing a lot of talking about my sexuality at work, regardless of what it was, I would expect I'd get a good talking to. Gays have this curious need to proclaim their sexual orientation to the world and then spin around looking for someone to make an issue out of it with.
It's work, not a nightclub, it has no bearing at all and I fail to see how putting the pinch on your employer increases your chances of getting the Constitution of the State of California Amended.

#10  Yup, that worked really well! /s

#11  Because their intent is to corrupt EVERYTHING, I find it soothing that they are willing to make stock value go up for the simple reason they are gay and want to put the bedroom before their work. Maybe tomorrow, I will call in GOD.

They and me are not much different except for their utter lack of respect for anything or anybody in civilization.

A temporary lust shall lead us in Social norms?

You have two Marys and Josephs in a europeon nation, and here it is about "Marrige".

People do not understand how that lifestyle is.
Marriage is for the propigation of civilization and to have a good woman friend to talk to. No one cares about the rest.

In 50 years, it will make no difference if gays marry, except for the fact that it is abnormal. They never asked, and they sure suck at it.
People with causes can be annoying.
You may get married with anyone of the opposite sex you like.

Social engeneering for minorities lead to tyranny as well. Forget it for now.

Must you corrupt EVERYTHING out of hatred?
